Another "older server" has been added.
Nothing new.
One of the master servers went down - one of the ones that feeds the servers that users access. I tried to reboot it, but it stays up for a few seconds then crashes again. So I reconfigured one of the slaves to be the new master. I don't think anyone noticed!
One of my UPSes started to beep and said "Battery needs replacing". Well, these lead-acid batteries only last a few years. More worryingly, the UPS was too hot to touch, I had to use oven gloves to take it out when I replaced it. And if the case was that hot, I hate to think how hot the internal components must have been. So I'm not replacing the batteries, I'll replace the whole unit; besides, it's actually cheaper than getting replacement batteries.
Kalwa, the backup for Sacha suddenly died. That's carrying the backups for a couple of dozen sites. So I had to bring into action, a new backup server.
Most of the sponsorships now are by giving women server space and bandwidth, so they can operate their web sites without having to pay these fees. There's also photoshoots, which gets some revenue into their hands, as well as the traditional direct-funding sponsorship.

I checked the site statistics that Sandra counts up each night.
At the end of August 2007, there were about 981,000 pictures (89 gigabytes), 256 gigabytes of video, 11,400 text files (mostly stories) and a total of about 346 gigabytes. There's about 260 million pictures altogether in Newsthumbs, increasing at about 5 million per month.
