"And just how do you intend to do that." Shonna asked.

"Well since a puny female can do nothing to stop me, I'll be more than happy to explain." He pressed a button on the control panel and a swirling round doorway appeared behind him. See that? That's a portal, on the other side is your world 4 million years ago. All I have to do is contaminate that world with this virus," he held up a metal tube, " and poof no more humans, when we attack 500 years from now we'll find a fresh virgin planet with nothing but stupid beasts populating it." He smiled at the genius of his plan.

" What's with the bears?" Shonna asked.

" Oh the bears," he said enthusiastically. " Just a little invention I cooked up. The box that you found embedded in the bears neck keeps the animal in a tremendous amount of pain. I, using this," he held up a small laser device, "can focus the cause of that pain on anyone I want." "In fact the laser can do the same thing the box can, only without the box the effect is temporary, that is on most higher life forms. All I need is a simple scan," he pointed the laser at Shonna and fired, "and I can make any animal in the Universe want more than anything to kill you. It works well for keeping people away from the cave. You see I still need a few days to perfect the virus and I only have one shot at this, the portal unfortunately will close forever in 72 earth hours. So forgive me if I don't have time to chit chat." He pressed a button and the cage door to the enraged bear slowly started to open. "He's a very unfortunate case, one of my very first experiments, I'm afraid his mind is completely and irreversibly destroyed. He's trapped, forever, in an agony no living creature can comprehend . I was waiting for a chance to use him and this seems the perfect opportunity. I know your only an inferior female but try to put up some kind of fight, I'm in need of a bit of entertainment. Suceed and you put the beast out of his misery. Fail and of course you die. Oh, I almost forgot, he added laughing, "fail and your friends die also." He pressed a button on the panel and a curtain slid back reavealing Kate and the kids tied and gagged to the wall behind her. "After he tears you to shreds, I suspect he'll move on to them."

When the alien had first opened the portal Shonna had felt a surge go through her body. It was unlike anything she had ever felt before. It felt like she was absorbing some sort of great energy. Her muscles never felt harder or stronger. She watched calmly as the giant bear charged directly at her. The bear stopped directly in front of her, foaming at the mouth, his mind completely destroyed by the alien device imbedded in his neck. He reared up on his hind legs roaring, his agony and anger focused solely on Shonna. Strangely enough Shonna wasn't scared on the contrary she had never felt so strong in her life. Something, the portal maybe, was increasing her strength a hundred fold. She felt as if she could demolish a tank with her bare hands. She was totally sure she could handle the beast. The enraged bear stood before her, 2000 pounds of teeth, claw and muscle.

Shonna climbed up on a small support beam so that the bear stood just a foot taller than she did. Now mere inches away from Shonna the bear let out a deafinng roar. She could feel the blast of its hot breath on her face. She had never felt pure hate for anything in her life but as she stared at the tortured beast in front of her she felt it for the first time, not for the animal in front of her but for the monster behind the control panel. She drew back her fist feeling her muscles become like steel as her biceps bulged and with one scream of rage she threw a devestating punch that connected solidly with the bears jaw. Every ounce of her newfound strength went behind the blow and as her fist connected with the animals jaw he hardly budged. Except for his head turning slightly with the blow it seemingly had no effect at all.

The alien broke out in laughter. " That's it! That's your best?" He hooted.

Shonna herself thought her blow had no effect until she glanced down and saw a small stream of urine start to flow down the bears leg creating a growing pool on the floor, it was then that she knew that the animal in front of her was free from his suffering. She turned toward the Alien, having dealt with the animal it was now time to deal with the monster. Shonna turned back to the alien with a smirk of triumph on her face " We have a saying here on earth alien boy;" she spoke contemptuously, Never Underestimate the Power of a Woman". With a casual toss of her blonde mane Shonna nonchalantly turned back to vanquished bruin. Taking a small breath she leaned forward and with on hand placed sexily on her hip she casually blew on the teetering beast.
