Noel Burch : A case of mistaken identity Reviewed by Spiros Bousbouras http://www.thevalkyrie.com/stories/noelburch/identity.txt My rating system: * = Forget about it ! ** = Fair *** = Good **** = Very good ***** = Read it now !! This story gets a ***** Seldom one sees such a sinister , diabolical yet quite irresistible character in a story as Olga , the main heroine or rather villainess of this one.And one rarely sees such a character portraited so vividly as to get the feeling that one watches a movie instead of reading a story. But I'm not doing the story justice by saying that because it's not just her outside appearance although this is also very detailed. The portrait of her soul , given indirectly by what she says and does , by the description of her bodily reactions to what's happening ( this part would have been missed in a movie ) is also exposed before our eyes. On the other hand we have Peter , her victim. The author writes in the third person yet it is clear that we see the world mainly through Peter's eyes.We don't just feel his pain but also his sense of helplessness , his despair and his slow and horrifying realization that his tormentress is enjoying everything she's doing to him and that he is totally unable to find an escape or stop it.At some point he gets hope but this is crushed in the most decisive manner by the skills of Olga therefore sending him into even greater depths of agony. I imagine different people find this site appealing for different reasons. What I'm mainly interested in is female dominance. If you're like me you can do no better than to read "A case of mistaken identity".The dominance Olga has over Peter is total and absolute despite his best efforts.Dominance over his body through pain and sexual arousal and over his mind. The culmination of this dominance comes at the end which of course I'm not going to reveal. But please notice the exquisite detail in which the author describes how Olga savours the moments before the conclusion and how the final scene of the story completes the portrait of the ultimate sadist which is Olga. Masterpiece !
