The Central Mountains Republic, part 14 by Joe Rathbone Later ... PREFACE We are about to take a trip through time and distance, starting in what is now the extreme North West United States or South West Canada, about 3500 years ago. The story starts in the midst of a nation or tribe located around the north-western side of what is now known as Puget Sound. On the eastern side of Puget sound lies present-day Seattle. From this unassuming beginning, an unusual series of events begins, taking two Native Americans, a young man and a young woman, an Amazon herself, on an adventure which will end them up in a marvelous, yet-to-exist country, 69,700,000 years in the future. Come with us now, as we travel with the two Native Americans of long ago, to a time and country characterized by huge, sexy Amazon women, human powered cars, and a solar energized society..... * * * * * * * * The year, by the present-day way of reckoning, was about 1500 B.C. In an area west of what was later to be known as Puget Sound, a Native American Chieftain was informed by his Chief SHAMAN of some disturbing, although, hard-to-believe news. A coming horrible plague would involve a tribe of ghostly pale beings wielding unheard of powers. They would not only destroy people, but the land as well. Also, someone in this village, was going to be contacted directly by the Gods... Among the tribes of Native Americans of the North West United States, a Shaman is a special fellow who had access to information that no one else had. Through visions seen during dreams and meditation, he could receive information from God, other spirits and just from "Nature's Soul"... * * * * * * * * SOME WHAT MORE THAN A YEAR LATER... One misty, chilly morning of early Autumn, a 22-year-old young man, known as Eagle That Brings Sun, simply called Sunn, (spelled S-u-n-n to prevent confusion with the sun in the sky) and his friend, Naguta, were getting ready to hunt for game with a few older men. Sunn and Naguta were standing around awaiting the older gentlemen to join them and lead on. They did not like hunting and were in no big hurry to start. Sunn was gazing at some scenery to the west when Naguta interrupted his thoughts, "Wow, looky there! There's Py Nae Kot, home finally from fishing! Boy, I wish I had a girl-friend like that... wait a minute, maybe I don't..." Sunn turned himself around too, saw his very heart-throb and immediately beamed a smile. Sunn's steady Lady friend, Py Nae Kot, came wearily striding up the hill from the shore, buck naked despite the chilly, damp morning air. Her long black hair lay in wet strings about her broad, well built shoulders. She walked a little stooped from exhaustion. Her head hung too except when she raised it to shake her damp hair from her face and pull it back, draping it behind her with her big, tanned arms. She also gave Sunn a smile, subdued of it's usual brightness by her weary condition. As she walked closer and closer, her size became more and more apparent to Naguta, thereby forming the basis of his change of mind expressed in his comment just then. She was a BIG ONE! And Naguta was not too sure about any woman that potentially could pick him up and do anything to him she wanted. He was not a big-woman-lover. But Sunn is! Sunn walked down the hill and met his tired lady with a hug. The big woman leaned heavily on Sunn, almost causing him to lose balance. But Sunn, big himself, was able to handle this arm-full. His arms wrapped around her big torso, under her arms freeing them to rest on his shoulders. His hands caressed Py Nae Kot's expanse of back. Seeing how tired she was, he formed a "claw" with his hands and gently scratched her back, slowly, side to side, up and down. "Mmmmm! That feels sooo good!" she moaned, closing her eyes and enjoying the care from the only man that gave her such attention. After a bit, Sunn asked, "Well, how was it? Were you on the water all night or did you all sleep somewhere?" "We camped on the far shore, you know, the east side. We got a small whale! That should last us a while. But it was too dark last night to paddle all the way back here. We were close to the east shore any way so we camped there. Then we paddled back just now. That darn wind was still blowing however spraying water all over us." "I suppose YOU did all the paddling?" "Well, half of it anyway, along with Little Eagle. He and I sat in the stoker positions. Blue Crow sat in the back as steers man. It took us a while to make the crossing since we were dragging that whale behind us." Sunn continued to embrace and caress the back of his queen-sized lady-friend. "Mmm! Oh, you feel good!" he said, enjoying his big girl-friend. "Do those guys bother you, you know, you with out any clothes and all..." "They BETTER not! I'll scratch their eyes out! They depend on me for too much. After spearing the whale I was the one to dive and tie it's mouth shut so air inside wouldn't escape letting it sink. THOSE guys are not gonna go in that ice-water!" And she could rule over those Fishermen! She was stronger than most men! But that set her apart from the rest, especially other women. She was regarded as highly unusual. With her physique that reached to the sky, she was filled out to match. She was... an Amazon! True and simple. That intimidated most men. They felt uncomfortable about a woman who was stronger than they. Py Nae Kot had a don't-give-a-dam attitude as well. She blithely went around nude a lot even though others thought it highly improper. She WOULD wear clothes for certain ceremonies and in VERY cold weather. But when fishing, unless VERY COLD as in winter, it was strictly without clothes. "The clothes just get wet then they chaff and feel chilly!" she would bitterly retort to anyone who tried to convince her to wear clothes while fishing. Fishing was done usually by all-male-crews. A big, towering, naked muscle-woman in their midst took some getting used to, but they became accustomed. Her services as a fisherman were just too great to reject based on some petty feeling against a woman that wore no clothes while fishing. "After all, the men wear little or no clothes, why not me!? Hey, what's the difference!?" Py Nae Kot would demand. With nobody offering any good answers, the consensus was to let her go nude. Sunn felt warm and thrilled with Py Nae Kot in his arms. She was an arm-full to say the least! And it was interesting to have her bare pubic area so close to his. "Think un-sexy thoughts!" Sunn tried to tell himself! Dressed only in something like a towel- sized cloth in his front, an erection now with other people nearby would by embarrassingly inappropriate. Sunn and Py Nae Kot's tender moment was interrupted by, "Come on Py Nae Kot, put some clothes on and join us for the ceremony for capturing the whale!" A whale, even a small one, would provide these Native North Americans with meat, oil for heat and light, and bones for tools for a long time. Hard to catch, a whale was a cause for ceremony! Just as Sunn and Py Nae Kot released each other, the older gentlemen who were going to hunt with Sunn and Naguta came with pleasant news. One said, "Our hunting is canceled. Let's join the ceremony now, and later you must help in processing the whale." Then he addressed Py Nae Kot, "And you, PLEASE put something on, and join us for the ceremony." Despite her being tired, Py Nae Kot cheerfully joined the ceremony. After all, it was partly in her honor. And certainly Sunn and Naguta were pleased! They both considerably disliked hunting, for it meant tramping through the dense forest, often chilly and wet, avoiding snakes, staying on the alert for grizzly bears, stubbing toes and getting thorns in their feet. If they hunted down anything at all, they had to carry it all of the way back to the village. Hunting generally used up all day. Here, hunting, along with fishing, was not a pass time, or sport, but a necessity. There were no super markets or grocery stores to go to, for here was a time with out such things. Around about 1500 B.C., this village of a few hundred people was one of several villages in the area. Their village along with the others existed on the west side of present-day Puget Sound, on a strip of land that was separated by another body of water from Olympic peninsula, site of what is now known as Olympic National Park. (Of course, in those days, there was no "park"!) Py Nae Kot, Sunn and Naguta joined the ceremony. It was a gala time, with food, drink, drums and dancing. Py Nae Kot was good at that dancing! The men loved to see her magnificent body move! After the ceremony, Py Nae Kot wearily went home, stripped off those nuisance clothes, laid down naked and slept. Two hours later, her Mother jostles her awake saying, "They need you for the canoe hollowing!" "Aw, Mom, I'm so tired... Well, okay." Py Nae Kot wearily got up. After a luxuriant stretch of her bare body, her muscles brimmed with might once again. As she proceeded out of the simple structure that was their house, her Mother called, "Put something on before you go out!" "Nothing doing! If I'm to hew that canoe the rest of the day, I'm gonna be hot! I don't want any hot, stuffy things around me!" "You mean, you want to continue to be the village spectacle! Tch, tch, tch! What are we going to do with you, young lady!?" Clothes-less, she took up her ax and chisels then walked on over to the big hunk of tree that was already beginning to resemble a canoe. When someone is possessed of great strength in this 1500- B.C.-Native American village, they are under great demand. Hewing out a canoe from the heart-wood of a huge tree required strength, stamina and skill. Py Nae Kot was the Lady for the job with her muscles and stamina. She made well formed canoes. She had others, all guys, helping her, but she was the boss. Heads turned as she strolled through the village, wearing nothing. Her big, tall, MAJESTIC Amazon physique demanded attention. Even though women generally do not go naked, she was given the un- official exception, probably because men wanted to see this awesome body of feminine strength. With bulging muscles rippling powerfully in her big thighs and wide, sinewy hips swaying sensuously as she walked, she had a stately, slow stride. The queenly walk came as a natural consequence of her size. She was a work of art, an artful melding of brute strength and feminine grace and beauty! And one doesn't go around hiding works of art underneath a bunch of superfluous cloth! * * * * * * * * Some months later, we find it to be late spring, which in the North West means blessed relief from all of that rain. Sunn and Naguta had been hunting, but in separate areas to increase chances of getting something. Naguta and Sunn generally fared well as hunters, although they still did not like it. This day, however, had been quite an unproductive one. Sunn particularly did not feel like hunting. Perhaps it was due to a sort of "spring fever". It was sunny, somewhat warm, and a gorgeous day. Sunlight sprinkled down into the forest, illuminating the leaves of the trees to a bright montage of bright greens, yellow- greens and yellows. The fresh, springy colors seemed to dance, contrasting beautifully with the white, puffy-cloud-spangled, cobalt-blue sky. A strange day too. Once Sunn saw a V formation of birds headed south-west. Usually, bird V-formations are headed north at this time of year. Later, he saw what seemed to be an unusually large eagle taking off. Strange that it was blue- colored, and seemed to have four legs! "A four-legged eagle? Nah, I'm tired, effected by all this sunlight... I can't deny that it WAS BLUE though, an iridescent, pretty type of blue!", Sunn thought to himself. It was quite a while after-noon when Sunn was coming home, empty handed. He was following the trail home when he came upon the clearing that contained one of his village's "Totem-Poles". He suddenly felt really super tired and groggy. "Boy, this is the worst case of spring-fever that I have ever had", thought Sunn to himself as he sat next to a tree, across the trail and down a piece from the Totem-Pole. Only because it was daytime, still a while from sun-set, with a cheery wash of sunlight scattering into the forest and lighting the clearing, was he so relaxed, close to the Totem-Pole. Normally that thing made him a bit nervous. With its stack of some animal-like, and some man-like faces that seem to be glaring, watching carefully for anybody coming down the trail, Sunn would just rather not encounter that thing alone at night or near sun-set! Besides, he was too sleepy to think about it now. The clearing was quiet, very quiet, perhaps TOO quiet... Sleepier, sleepier, just about asleep... As he drifted off to sleep, POING! he sat up straight, suddenly awakened, "I could'a sworn a young woman just glided grace... grace... gracefully...", but he could not complete his thought as sleepiness once more over took him. Was it a dream or what? It DID seem like a lone young woman just walked gracefully by him. But not likely, not this far from the village, not alone... unless she was Py Nae Kot of course! She'd go anywhere. But no, she was out fishing... He was almost asleep again, when POING! again startled awake! "Oh man, I'm seeing things... I better head down the trail" thought Sunn to himself after he thought he saw one of the carved and painted creatures on the Totem-Pole, the one near the top that somewhat looked like an eagle, suddenly zoom toward him, all the while transforming partially into a large cat. "A cat with wings!" muttered Sunn to himself. "Dig that! Cats are dangerous enough, but with an added ability to fly..." but again, groggy drowsiness over took him, forcing him to re-settle right where he was... He opened his eyes to see a gorgeous example of a young woman standing tall over him! He first noted her face... kind, smiling... a gentle, loving look! And such a lovely face! Beautiful bronze skin, almond-shape brown eyes, and long, flowing, iridescent black hair! She motioned Sunn to get up. As he stood up, he noted the rest of her! Scantily dressed she was, with only a brief skirt of some strange, snow-white lacy material like he had never seen before. She also wore a colorful assortment of bead-necklaces, but other than that, she was topless! Wow! What a sight! Bracelets on her wrists jingled delicately every time she moved or gestured with her arms. She did not speak, only gestured, motioned. And what a body! She was slightly taller than Sunn, was well built, in very good athletic conditioning. She was somewhat muscled even. "Why, I bet she could whip even some of the GUYS in the village!", thought Sunn to himself. Her beautiful bronze, reddish-brown skin, absolutely blemish-free, contrasted beautifully with that snow- white teeny-skirt. And wow! Just generally speaking, an explosion of voluptuous figure! Sunn could not get any words to come out of his mouth as he stood, perhaps trembling, before this AWESOME woman. Then he noticed a beast behind her. Somewhat larger that a lynx, it was a cat like animal, with four legs and great wings, with an shimmering blue color. It possessed the combined powers of both an eagle and a cat. But some how, he was not afraid. The "Super"-Woman assured him with a sweet smile. She pointed to the forest behind him. Although she did NOT speak, somehow, Sunn understood her to tell him, "When you awake, go care for his (the beast's) children. They will help save you and your people from the coming plague of the white, ghostly ones. And do not worry, I will be your guide through the ages..." with that, she put her hand on Sunn's shoulder as if to re-assure him, and coax him to sit back down. As he sat back down, next to that same tree, he could only stutter something like "Wh... wh... when I a... awake? What d... do you m... mean...", but extreme drowsiness took over him. Sunn never felt so groggy. He also had a strange sensation of floating in time and space...drifting... his mind emptied and seemingly receiving strange thoughts... from where? Who?... There seemed to be a chanting, singing sound, from seemingly 10,000 perfect voices... all was black save for stars brightly shining above him, below him, all sides... suddenly Sunn had a frightening sensation of falling! He bolted straight up, "AIYHH!", with that yelp, he was completely awake, desperately looking around for anything familiar... Well everything WAS familiar all right. There he was, in the clearing, next to the same tree that he apparently fell asleep against. "WOW!" he said out loud to himself, "what in heavens was that!?" He continued thinking to himself, "who was that woman? So stunningly beautiful she was!" He continued to survey the clearing, reassuring himself that all was normal now. "I have heard of strange dreams some people have close to Totem-Poles... or while in the forest... I wonder..." Sunn pondered to himself. "Oh well, I will ask the Shaman later." He noticed that he must have been asleep for quite a while, for the day was obviously getting late. The shadows were long, the sunlight, what was left of it, a dim orange. Most of the clearing was in the shadows now. "I better be going now" muttered Sunn to himself, "I don't want to hang around in the dark with that..." He was about to say "Totem- Pole" when he suddenly noticed for the first time that... that... the Totem-Pole, it... it... it's GONE! "What happened to it!?" Sunn exclaimed out loud to himself, "There is not even a sign that it was ever HERE!" He looked around... "This IS the clearing isn't it? SURELY I'm not LOST... I know where this is!..." upon thinking that, Sunn continued to survey the area. Everything was where its supposed to be... except the Totem-Pole! "BOY!, wait till the Elders and Shamans hear about THIS!" Sunn said to himself as he began to leave... but WAIT! Just behind the tree on which he slept, he thought he heard a whimpering, tiny sound, like a tiny baby animal. Then it hit him, wall to wall! "Take care of his BABIES!" Sunn exclaimed, "That gorgeous woman... she told me to take care of..." he did not bother to complete his thought. He carefully approached the source of the sound. Indeed, it was in the direction the woman had pointed. Not far into the forest, behind the tree on which he slept, there Sunn found them... Partially covered by forest under-brush was a large "litter" of tiny, fury baby animals of some kind. Sunn picked one of them up. It made a mewing sound, sort of like a kitten. Indeed, it sort of looked like a kitten, but not quite. Its head had ears like a kitten, and even had whiskers. Its HEAD looked for all in the world like a kitten. It was its body that looked different. It had four little legs and... "What's that on its back?" Sunn thought. Two additional limbs positioned on its back somewhat behind the front legs sort of looked like..., like an under developed... a baby bird's wings! "What sort of animal is THIS!?" Sunn thought to himself. "Birds always only have two legs. But these have four. And they don't have beaks, they have mouths... that looks like a kitten." The body definitely was not a kitten's... or cat's body. It was somewhat stout, stiff, the wings... if that's what they are... and the hind legs seem to be stoutly attached to the body. The hind legs' feet had an opposing "thumb", or toe, the claws were sheathed... the former characteristic like a little eagle, the latter like a cat. The front legs, however, seemed delicate, and were terminated by perfectly formed tiny hands with opposing thumbs, like a human's! The kitten... or fledgling bird... or what ever it was... was just big enough to fill one hand. Sunn thought it was cute, and wondered how the lot of these unusual animal babies appeared here. "Before the baby there must be a parent," Sunn analyzed, "and what an animal that parent must be... perhaps it is very fearsome..." Sunn imagined a great cougar or panther with WINGS, roaring out of the sky to swoop up a grown man, like the eagle does rabbits or squirrels! "I should be afraid... but I'm not! Why?" Sunn did not feel any fear from that thought. Like maybe the parent is nearby!? The horde of kittens or whatever were huddling up to Sunn's feet now. "I am to be their parent now, JUST LIKE THAT WOMAN TOLD ME!!" Sunn found a couple trees with holes on the side and hollow inside. After checking to see that there were no snakes in those trees or other animals, he carefully placed the numerous kittens, some 50 of them, in the hollow trees, for their protection temporarily. Sunn quickly returned to the clearing where he had slept and had, apparently, a vision, or at least a very vivid dream, noted one more time with a shudder, the now missing Totem-Pole. It was getting dark. He quickly followed the trail back home. Sunn first found Naguta, then a few of the Elders and Shamans and his hunting teachers and the excitingly recounted his strange dream or vision, or what ever it was. He told of the woman, that beast, the missing Totem-Pole, and so on and on and of course the kittens. The Elders and Shamans were amazed along with Naguta and some other people that heard, but perhaps, somewhat disbelieving. "Only ONE WAY to find out for sure," said one of the Elders, always practical, "and that's to go see for ourselves!" Even though it was near dark, the group of them decided to take a look anyway, this was too important, if true! Sunn was a little bit nervous with all these aged and wise Elders, and the Shamans with their uncanny powers, along with other people accompanying him. What if the Totem Pole was still there!? What if there were no kittens!? What if Sunn had somehow imagined the whole thing!? They approached the clearing where they ALL knew had a Totem-Pole. To Sunn's relief and the Elders' and Shamans' amazement and perhaps even a little fear, the large, heavy, ornate Totem-Pole that had been there for years was completely GONE! No TRACE! But it was so dark. After some milling about and discussion, that same practical Elder suggested, "Maybe we better come back in the morning. Right now, we better get those kittens Sunn spoke of. They are apparently significant to this! Something might eat them during the night." They followed Sunn into the forest, to the two hollow trees where the kittens were. Would they still be there? They indeed were! With THAT MANY people, there was no problem as each person grabbed a hand-full of kittens and between them all, carried all 50 kittens back to the village in on trip. Where would they PUT all of those kittens!? Why, in the CHIEFTAIN'S house, where else?! By this time, the Chieftain HAD been informed, and was eagerly waiting to see what this was all about. The Chieftain was not in the village earlier when Sunn first came bolting in the village telling everybody about this. But he was here NOW! All eyes and ears! They examined the frisky little kittens. They did not quite know what to think about these "new" animals. The Chieftain, aged, experienced and wise, noted many scientific anomalies about these kittens. "Observe," the Chieftain explained, "Four legs, two wings. That's a total of three pairs of limbs!" A period of silence. Someone finally timidly asked, not wanting to hurt the Chieftain's feelings, "What is the significance of that?" The Chieftain explained, much like a professor to students, "Think about it. How many animals do you know of have three pairs of limbs? Insects of course, but I mean animals possessing a vertebrae. How many do you know of that have three pairs of limbs?" More silence as they thought about it... Of course... Deer, cougars, rabbits etc., etc... two pairs; that is four legs... Birds, two wings, two legs... Porpoise, two front flippers and bones of a pair of vestigial hind legs (not obvious until you butcher one)... the sasquatch ape, humanoid, with two legs and two arms... us, people, two legs, two arms... and on and on. Sure enough, the Chieftain had something there. They had in their possession, a strange new animal of an entirely different order! The discussions were beginning to take on a more serious tone as to what all of this means. The Chieftain appointed Sunn, Naguta and some others to tend to the kittens in another house. The Chieftain later hustled all others out of his house, retaining only a handful of the older Elders and the oldest, most experienced Shaman. Later, it was obvious that the Chieftain, Elders and Shaman did not want to be disturbed, for guards were posted at the Chieftain's house's door to turn people away. Word was that they were intently discussing the possible spiritual and metaphysical aspects of this. Also, it seemed that the Chief himself apparently had one or two unusual dreams in the past few nights but had not told anybody until he heard of this event. Perhaps the Chieftain's dreams TOO were related to Sunn's experience. Sunn, Naguta, their hunting-teachers and their parents managed to acquire this information by dispatching Py Nae Kot to distract the guards. Sunn, Naguta and their teachers then sneaked close to one of the windows. They could not hear everything, only bits and pieces, especially when the voices from within were relatively loud. And the voices WERE loud sometimes. As the secret meeting continued into the night, the muffled voices at times indicated periods of heated and perhaps even agitated discussion. Along toward... possibly midnight, an Elder came to Sunn's family's house, seeking Sunn himself. Sunn was already sleeping. The Elder and Sunn's Parents woke him up. The Elder said, "I'm sorry to have to disturb you, but, as you know, we are having a meeting concerning your very experiences today, and we have come to a point that we simply must ask you a few questions and discuss some things with you. Your Parents are invited to join us too." Earlier, Sunn and Naguta were one of a few people who sneaked under one of the Chieftain's house's windows to hear what was being said. Now, he was being invited on in, through the guards, by order of the Chieftain himself! "Wow", thought Sunn, "This must really be turning into something for them!" Once inside, the Chieftain asked Sunn to account various details of his experience for the Elders and Shaman to hear. Once, the Chieftain himself asked Sunn, "Tell us, my boy, in your opinion, what kind of animals are those that you found today?" The Chieftain was gentle and kind, smiling, while the other Elders and the Shaman listened intently for Sunn's first words. All was quiet except for purring crickets and honking frogs outside. Sunn asked, "You all are asking me? I am just a boy, you are aged and wise... I should be asking YOU!" The Chieftain sat back a little and smiled kindly and with some wonderment, it seemed. "But we believe..." The Chieftain paused a bit then continued, "We have been discussing all night, and among other things, have come to the conclusion that you, perhaps, have been endowed with some of the eternal and timeless wisdom and knowledge of the Gods themselves!" The Chieftain stressed to Sunn, "Concentrate, my boy... Draw upon your innermost sources, say what you deeply feel!" After a moment, Sunn began to speak. "I believe the kittens are not cats at all but a different kind of animal altogether. They are not even birds. No. Completely different. They are omnivorous; they eat plant and meat. They are equipped for hunting like an eagle, and have the keen vision and senses of both an eagle AND a cat. They can see and hear what we could never detect. They perhaps even have a sixth sense. They are intelligent. They have hands for manipulating objects. They are social animals and intelligent, therefore are easily trainable by people. They can fly far and wide, fast... they could take us to places we have never dreamed about!" One of the Elders stopped him and said, "Take? What do you mean, take? Would we not train the new animals to hunt? But how could they TAKE us anywhere?" Sunn said, "Hunting would be menial to them. I envision... I think that these animals could be trained to pull and... yes... carry, upwards, a sort of chariot." An Elder interrupted Sunn again asking, "What is that word you used... chariot... what does THAT mean?" Remembering that the Native Americans of those days had no wheeled carts OR horses, their vocabulary perhaps had no specialized words for such things. But somehow, Sunn used that term "chariot" like he knew it all his life. Sunn continued, closing his eyes to help himself envision something, "I have... I have an idea for a vehicle, that... I don't know why... I don't know why I used the word I just used, I don't know it myself... but that's what I'll call it. A CHARIOT... a vehicle that these new animals can be trained to pull behind them, into the air, a vehicle that can carry one or two people, with the new animals flying, pulling through the air... a vehicle that can carry a couple of people high into the sky... as high as that mountain to the west..." (he probably is speaking of the mountains in what is now known as Olympic State Park) "Or to that huge, distant mountain to the south, you know, the one that can only be seen on the clearest days if we are on a bit of high ground, or have climbed a tree..." (Here he is quite probably speaking of what is now known as Mt. Rainier, visible from most parts of Puget Sound, including Seattle, on clear days.) Sunn continued enthusiastically, "They could carry us across the water to the east that separates us from the land that lies east of that... and further!" "What a wild idea!", interrupted one of the Elders, then continued as he looked at the Chieftain, as if for some kind of wisdom, "Do you think it possible!?" Another Elder said, "Sunn, with his new knowledge, given to him by the spirits and Gods, has said it, so I believe it is!" Another Elder said, "But since time beginning we have honored the spirits the same way, and they have seen to our needs only in the form of some agricultural or hunting assistance and spiritual guidance, but never have the spirits so clearly and unquestionably shown themselves in an assistance so great... and obvious... as this!" Yet another Elder said, "You say 'assistance', but I wonder what kind of assistance this is after all... like, what are we supposed to do with these 50 strange kittens? Train them as Sunn has suggested? Then after they can carry two people skyward... what then? To what extent are we being assisted?" The Chieftain finally spoke, "Gentlemen, gentlemen... We have discussed on many occasions the significance of signs given us by the Gods. Admittedly, this is the most obvious of all. I mean, when ever before has a Totem Pole disappeared?" An Elder offered an answer, "Maybe a rival tribe took it..." another Elder interrupted "Impossible, it weighs tons! It would have taken many men under some leader to steal it! The commotion would have woke Sunn up!" The Chieftain continued, "Besides, what about our 50 new pets of strange characteristics? Not to mention, Sunn OBVIOUSLY had a vision, obviously imparted to him by spirits. And so did I..." "Need I remind you of MY dream of a few nights ago. It was quiet clear. In case you have forgotten already, I saw hordes of white skinned men, with many weapons and commanding animals as big as moose, but different, coming towards us. They all fused together to become a giant mass of ooze, grayish-white in color, like the skin of a dying or dead man. This ooze rolled over our entire village at once, digesting everything in its path. Behind its wake, nothing but the ashen gray of death, along with a deafening noise that I thought was going to drive me insane! And that's when I woke up... in a cold sweat!" The Chieftain was obviously disturbed by the mere telling of the dream again. After regaining his composure a bit, he continued, asking Sunn, "Also, Sunn, you say this young woman, in your dream, warned you about something. What was it again, exactly?" Sunn thought for a minute. Then answered, "I remember now, CLEARLY! Strange, I have never been able to remember something someone said to me so clearly! In fact I remember it word for word! She warned, 'When you awake, go care for his (the beast's) children. They will help save you and your people from the coming plague of the white, ghostly ones. And do not worry, I will be your guide through the ages...', and that's when I had all the strange drifting sensations then, apparently, woke up, and found that the Totem-Pole was gone!" "I've heard ENOUGH" the Chieftain announced assertively, apparently his mind finally made up on a decision. "It is obvious even to a blind person that we are, 1, being warned, and 2, being given a means to get away. Apparently, an enemy, some kind of evil tribe, from VERY FAR FAR AWAY and wielding weapons and forces of such an unheard of magnitude as to be unimaginable, is coming to conquer and destroy with indiscrimination. Perhaps the Gods will eventually destroy them, but perhaps with such a horrendous battle, as to make the entire land un-livable, either for us or enemy. Our ONLY choice is to follow the Gods' commands and advice... Sunn is no longer to hunt. He shall be given one or two full time assistants, along with several part-time ones all of his choosing and my approval. He shall be afforded all resources and all manner of assistance that ours and neighboring friendly villages can muster, all for the goal of Sunn's raising and training of the new animals of the Gods. From this point on, the new animals shall be referred to and designated as 'CAT HAWKS'! I have spoken, the Gods have ordained it! We begin TOMORROW!" And begin tomorrow they DID! Public announcements were made, and Sunn made his choice of assistants. For one full-time assistant Sunn chose Naguta. The Chieftain once questioned the choosing of Naguta as a full-time assistant. Naguta had a reputation of being a bit wild, a rough hewn individual. He was a girl or woman chaser, always flirting with any gal he could find that would flirt with him, seemingly no matter the age. And there was no shortage of ladies that would do so. Both Sunn and Naguta were possessed with well built bodies. Tall, tan, well muscled, expressive, dreamy eyes, any girl was tickled to receive attention from any of the two of them... Especially now, now that they seemed to have some kind of ordained importance. The Chieftain accepted the appointment of Naguta when Sunn explained that it would be best to work with Naguta, Sunn's best friend more or less, also excellent bow-man and of fast reflexes, two qualities Sunn listed as indicators of a very good driver of a "cathawk" powered "sky-chariot". However, Naguta can be stubborn, argumentative. He has his own ideas. The first argument the two had to resolve was the appointment of Sunn's second full-time assistant. Sunn appointed his long-time girl-friend, Py Nae Kot. But Naguta wanted HIS girl-friend to be the second assistant. Sunn argued, "The main trouble with that is that she probably won't be your girl-friend for long! You are always falling out and finding new ones. Raising and training these cathawks is going to take YEARS! They had to take this matter to the Chieftain for resolution. He agreed with Sunn. Py Nae Kot, steady with Sunn for the past three years, and still going strong, did seem a good choice. Also, since it was a female spirit, a Goddess presumably, that came to Sunn in that vision, perhaps the appointment of a lady would be in good order. So the Chieftain ordered it so, and that ended the matter. In addition, he stressed to Naguta, "Please do not be so argumentative. You must cooperate with your friend Sunn. He has been given the vision, the design. You must follow him!" No one argues with the Chieftain after he makes up his mind. Naguta nodded his head in submissive agreement, and that was that. Sunn was apparently planning to train two cathawk "chariot" teams and eventually, there would be two cathawk "chariots", one to stay close to the village, and one to scout far and wide for new land, discoveries, and knowledge. Another words, Sunn was dividing the fifty cathawks into two groups of 25. Naguta was elected by Sunn to train, with Sunn's direction or outlines, 25 of the cathawks. So Naguta was very well and gainfully employed. AND, NO DOUBT, he was quite relieved and happy over the fact that he would no longer have to go hunting. Sunn came up with miniature versions of the chariots talked about before for training the cathawks. Nobody knew how he knew how to do that, not even himself. The Chieftain said it was knowledge imparted to Sunn from the Goddess. Similarly, no one knew how Sunn had such a affinity with the cathawks or how he knew so well how to train them. People assumed the Goddess imparted that knowledge too. By using the miniature versions of the sky-chariots, Sunn, Py Nae Kot and Naguta trained the cathawks to fly while yoked to the chariots. As the cathawks grew bigger, larger versions of sky- chariots were built. In this way, as the cathawks' skills developed, the ability to carry a sky-chariot increased. The sky chariots were constructed of bamboo which was laced together. It made a light, strong and durable structure. And out of nothingness, Sunn came up with the idea of wooden wheels upon wooden axles. Sunn showed Py Nae Kot and Naguta how and they did as Sunn explained. Even though the Native Americans of this long ago time did not know about the wheel, Sunn just came up with the idea, just like that, like it was nothing. With such ease did the idea of the wheel flow into his head and out his hands in careful carving work, no one noticed until an Elder decided to examine just what it was that enabled the miniature sky chariot to roll along the ground so easily. As soon as the Elder noticed, he summoned other Elders, and eventually the Chieftain. They all marveled at the genius of Sunn, to come up with this unheard of thing. "Surely," asserted the Chieftain, "he HAS been empowered with the knowledge of the Gods!" As for over-all design, Naguta DID force in his own ideas. He wanted the cathawks low, close to the ground, where, on take-off, the cathawks would actually be running and then leap into the air. Sunn wanted the cathawks high, yoked to the highest part of the sky chariot where the thrust produced by the cathawks' wings would drive the chariot forward, then eventually upward. Naguta's sky chariot design resembled a "sedan chair" with two rows of six cathawks per row. Two parallel rows were in front, two others in back. In the middle was the "payload" section. A 25th cathawk, yoked to a somewhat raised structure in the very front, was a "leader" cathawk that interpreted human commands for the rest of the cat hawks. Sunn's sky-chariot looked like a sedan-chair with the poles on top. Two continuous rows of 12 cathawks each were therefore yoked to the top of this cleaner design. They would be off the ground, so the sky-chariot would move only by the thrust produced by the cathawks' wings. The 25th or leader cathawk was merely placed between the ends of the front poles, not elevated in any way. Sunn explained, "There is no need for the cathawks to see the leader, for it seems their minds become as one when flying in formations." The two designs, though miniature, were as the full-sized ones would be for the time when the cathawks were full-sized as well. People noted that Sunn's design appeared top heavy and doubted just a bit if he WAS being guided by the Gods. They noted how much more stable Naguta's miniature version was on the ground, than Sunn's. But Sunn reminded them, "When in the air, with the cathawks yoked to the sky chariots, my design will have the greatest stability." Indeed, Sunn and Naguta had argued at length over this major design difference. Only time would tell, which design would win out. Sunn, Py Nae Kot and Naguta observed that the cathawks seemed to be able to communicate with one another and organized themselves using a communication that was not readily detectable by any human. Perhaps they could even hear each others' thoughts. It is as if all of their cathawk minds could become one at will, responding to the whims of one cathawk perfectly and in unison. The cathawks could be... well, just playing, flying around, over the village, in circles. They could be flying straight, then suddenly, all turn on a dime, at once, without bumping into one another. Some 20, maybe 30 individuals all appeared to be yoked to one another by some invisible structure. Also, it was noticed, there seemed to be a few select "leader" cathawks, that all the rest responded to. So Sunn, Py Nae Kot, and Naguta concentrated their command response training on those few cathawks. It soon became apparent Sunn's chariot design was better. In coaxing the cathawks to fly while yoked to the chariots the first time, they discovered Naguta's cathawks had a hard time with take- offs and landings because of the design. It was too complicated for the cathawks to run, leap, then start pumping their wings after they clear the ground for the down-stroke of their wings. In landing, the cathawks had to remember to flatten out their wings or the wing-tips would drag the ground resulting in a nasty tumble. There was no apparent ADVANTAGE to Naguta's design, while Sunn's design was simple for his cathawks to handle. And indeed, Sunn's prediction of stability while air-borne proved true for his design. But Naguta stubbornly stuck to his design claiming it would prove out later. Anyway, despite the difficulties, his cathawks managed okay eventually. When both cathawks sky-chariots made their first flights, that was a cause for celebration in the village. Apparently it was possible, and was merely a matter of waiting for the cathawks to become full- sized for these Native Americans to have a truly 1500-B.C.-style "air-craft"! * * * * * * * * After a little over a year, we find it summer time again, and the cathawks have progressed to carrying a size of sky chariot big enough for a child to enter. Naturally, the children wanted to ride. Of course, Neither Sunn or Naguta would allow it, for the sky chariots were not proven safe yet. But the children could enter an idle sky chariot, without cathawks yoked to it. They would take turns pushing each other. A "run-way" was cleared in the village for the cathawks' training flights. A 75-foot-tall structure with a basket-like structure on top enabled Sunn, Py Nae Kot or Naguta to shout commands to the cathawks while flying. This was great for command-response- training. But being in the 75-foot tall structure made Sunn and especially Naguta queasy. And despite the solidly built ladder attached to the pole leading up to the basket, climbing was quite un-nerving. But Py Nae Kot found it all exciting. In fact, the naughty Py Nae Kot gave birth to a exciting idea. A bit difficult to implement however, she thought to herself, "I'll have to wait for the right set of circumstances....." One "test-flight" was done with squirrels as test "passengers". Unwilling squirrels were stuffed into cages then put in the chariots. After the flight where the cathawks flew high to the point of being out of sight, the squirrels were okay, but despite it being summer and very warm and dry, seemed to be cold. Their fur was cold to the touch as well as the chariots themselves. This was a curious development... "Apparently it is very cold up there", Sunn surmised. He continued, "One would think that it would be hotter than here, since up there is closer to the sun." Naguta commented, "Maybe the sun is a cold light in the sky with the earth itself being the source of warmth." "Maybe, but why is it hot in the day, when the sun is there, and cool at night, when there is no sun?" Sunn asked. Naguta theorized, "Maybe the earth changes the sun's light into heat." Sunn answered, "Yes, so it seems. However, still, I would warn against venturing too close to the sun, there must be SOME kind of danger." Climbing the 75-foot pole with the basket on top - they called it the crow's nest - was nerve-racking enough without a big nest of wasps up there watching climbers from the underside of the basket. If those things should attack while someone is up there 75 feet high... Everyone agreed, go up there in the middle of the night when the wasps are asleep and knock the nest down. Py Nae Kot advised further, "Wait a couple days and then the moon will be full. That will give just enough light to make the night-climb safely." Sunn, assuming he would make the night-climb, agreed. The mid-summer night was pleasant in temperature, calm, and indeed lit by the full-moon's silvery rays. With a pole tied to him, Sunn began the climb. The dark made it more un-nerving than usual, but it was basically okay. "I'll enter the basket, lay on it's floor, and from that safe position knock the wasp-nest off with this pole. Then I'll jump up and close the basket's entrance door in case they try to attack, even at night." With his plan laid out, Sunn continued the climb with confidence. Sunn arrived at the bottom of the basket. Strange, now way up here, his nose picked up the pleasant scent of a certain type of wild- flower that blooms in the meadows that time of year. "Hmm, must be coming from that hill..." he thought, referencing a hill in the distance that because of its height, was level even with this elevated position of the crow's nest. He did not even look at the wasp-nest as he proceeded to push up the basket's door to enter. He raised his head just above the floor of the basket - "YIPE! OH! uh, YOU! Py Nae Kot! What are YOU doing up here? You scared the hell out of me!" "Well! BE scared! You have good reason to!" Sunn could see under the pale moon-light that her face had an impish grin! Sunn nervously said, "Why? What do you mean? What about the wasps?" "I took care of that. The nest is gone." "Then why are you still up here? You should have told me you were going to do it. I was going to do it, you needn't have bothered!" "Then, knowing the nervous-nelly that you are, you wouldn't have come up here with me. But NOW!... NOW I GOT YA!" Py Nae Kot pushed Sunn aside to clear the basket's floor-door which she slammed shut. Now she and Sunn were 75 feet above the village, inside the basket with it's four and one-half foot high, wood- panel wall. The floor was a circle of five foot diameter. There was just enough room for two sitting on the floor. Sunn stuttered out, "Wh... what's going on? What are y... you doing?" "I'm gonna make you FUCK with me! We're gonna fuck and fuck and fuck and AND FUCK AND FUCK! ALL NIGHT! HAH-HAH-HAH!" Gosh, it was almost frightening! She was almost devilish! He already noticed she was buck-naked, but that was usual for her in the summer. "Come on! NOT up HERE!" "YES! UP HERE! Where no one can bother us! Where no one even knows where we are! Unless you scream for help! Are you gonna scream for help, Sunn?" Py Nae Kot grabbed his chin with her hand and moved it, pretending he was a puppet... "Say 'Help! Py Nae Kot is raping me! Help!' HAH-HAH-HAH!" She put her arm around Sunn's shoulders and drew him close - she forced her lips on his - she ripped off the panel of cloth in front of his crotch that was his only clothing - she lifted him, drawing him up to his feet! "Must we stand!?" asked a helpless Sunn."YES! There's no room on this floor to lay!"Py Nae Kot straddled Sunn's side, rubbing her genital on his hip. Her genital spread profuse secretions all over his side."But... but people below... look, somebody there... Oh!..." "SHUDUP AND FUCK! Yours is not to question, but to OBEY ME!" Sunn tried to point out, that while standing, the upper parts of themselves could be see by parts of the village out there, or by anybody on that hill over there. First of all, there would be no one on the hill at this time of night. Second, although someone down there COULD see up, it would not be clearly, because of the darkness. Besides, everybody was in bed. But Sunn just wanted Py Nae Kot to stop this and get off this scary tower! "Look Sunn," began Py Nae Kot as she held him in firm embrace in her strong arms, "Just close your eyes and let your lady treat you to some good feelings and ENJOY! I LOVE it up here with you! I think it's... it's... SEXY!"She panted out "sexy" in a drawn-out way that was sensuous in itself."Okay, Py Nae Kot, maybe I do too! Mmmmm! You feel good!" His hands found their way around her big torso to her vast back, feeling the many lumps and bumps of muscle populating her broad back. He felt his penis hardening out and lengthening. Soon its head bumped into her crotch just behind her hungry genital. Her profuse pubic hair wet with her secretions, tickled it, and it to became drenched in her vaginal honey. Slowly, while her hands toured Sunn's body's topography, caressing so lightly, she lowered herself to her knees. Once Sunn began to lower himself too assuming she wanted him with her but she signaled with an upward hold from her hands to remain standing while she kneeled. Why quickly became apparent. She began kissing his now fully extended, stone-hard, throbbing penis. Having successfully drawn him into this experience, Sunn ached to ram his, almost PAINFULLY engorged penis deep into his lady's big, receptive body. He emphatically wished she would just "let him in"! "Wow! Py Nae Kot! What are you... Mmmmm, ohhh..." He didn't know what was in her mind when she began licking the shank of his lunging penis with her tongue, then gently biting it, and even once or twice, placing the whole thing in her mouth as if she was dining on sausage or something... but it FELT EXCITING AND FELT GOOD! Her lips and tongue were all over his penis and testicles as were her fingers. "Please! Let me.. Ohhh! Let me... Oh man!... Let me just stick it in you! I (gasp)... oohhh!.. I can't stand it!"In a voice ever so dulcet, almost whispering, she said, "Okay! I'll let you in... once..." She positioned a leg to begin to lift herself up from standing on her knees. After she positioned the other leg so that she was in a squatting position with her legs spread and on either side of Sunn, she slowly raised herself, all the while seeing to it her wet hairy genital was against his body. Profuse genital nectar was spread all up the side of his leg and hip. Standing now, it was with supreme pleasure Sunn lowered himself just a bit to clear his long, hard penis under her crotch. Then, merely straightening out his legs, drove his stony rod DEEP into her warm... receptive... inviting... OH! So gratifying, penis- embracing body! "OOOHHHH! AAHHH! OOOHHHH!..." He began to thrust his hips for the final explosion of pleasure - but she grabbed his hips with her strong hands and pulled him out! "OH NO! Let me do more!" he begged. The outside air felt so harsh to his bloated penis, already spoiled by just those couple heavenly seconds inside her precious body! "Uh-uh! No, no, no! Want ya to do something first..." Still standing, she embraced him lifting him off his feet, and after swinging him under her, then forcing him to a kneeling position. All the while, she was panting heavily. Kneeling like that, he could feel her hot breath on his shoulders. His eyes now stared level to a crotch full of wet hair with a visibly throbbing mound of flesh with a pink slit in it planted in the midst of all that hair. With her hands, she held his head and pushed it close, almost into, all that hair! All the while panting, her big hard breasts heaving out and in, she breathed out, "Okay, I want you to kiss it, and lick it! Don't worry, I took a thorough bath and spread the nectar of the shamish flower all over and inside it." Indeed, where Sunn thought it might be unpleasantly smelly, it was fresh and indeed perfumed with the penetrating, strong sweet scent of that wild, meadow flower. The wild-flower had a penetrating aroma of freshly cut greens and a nectar-sweet odor. So over-powering was its scent, that his nose, now in the midst of her pubic bush, could smell nothing else. That is what he smelled before! "Well go ahead! Kiss and lick it, it feels good to me! You want your lady to feel good don't ya?" Her voice was soft, melodic and took on an almost begging tone."Well sure!" Sunn assured from below. "It's just that... won't sticking my cock into you make you feel good?" "Mmmm! Yeah! But this is a different kind of feel good, it will enhance the other. Please! Do this one thing for your lady... Please?" "Okay, Py Nae Kot, Honey..." Her sweet, now pleading voice touched him. Besides, putting it THAT way, how could he refuse?Embracing her wide, muscular hips or upper thighs, Sunn buried his face into her pleasantly scented bush. Just as she asked, he kissed, and finally licked. That shamish flower nectar was boldly there all right, it tasted good. "Mmmmm! Kiss my cunt itself! Lick it, suck on it!" he heard Py Nae Kot beg from above. Sunn had to crane his neck a bit, but he was beginning to feel this was... OKAY! Kissing and licking Py Nae Kot's giant genital was kinky to the max... but exciting! Indeed, getting into it now, he kissed and licked right into that pretty, pink slit... yes, the moon-light was so bright he could just see its color! "Mmmm OOHHHH! Keep it up! Feels so good..." he heard pant out from over him. Unconsciously, she was thrusting her pelvis a little. But not satisfied with that, Py Nae Kot spread her legs way out, across the entire five-foot diameter of the crow's nest. That opened the lips of her vagina a bit. Now Sunn could stick his tongue deeper. But that was not her only goal. "Mmmm! It feels so good, but there is something more you can do for me..." "Name it, Honey Py Nae Kot!" Sunn was fully enslaved, now!"Are my cunt-lips open? See can you find a finger-like thing in there and suck on it! Ohh, just thinking about it - I know it would feel absolutely divine! Please!..."Sunn was unfamiliar with the existence of a "finger-like thing" residing in a woman's vagina. Though nudity, especially for men, is not that big of a deal, their sex manners tend to be on the conservative side in this ancient Native American village. Sunn was never taught... He searched, the dim light not helping much. Py Nae Kot helped him. With her fingers she pried open her vagina then held the part of which she spoke. In a moaning, begging, but still melodic, soft voice, she panted out, "Ohh! Hurry! Suck on it!" On this big Amazon, it was as thick as a man's, maybe Sunn's, middle finger and long as his thumb. He hesitated a second, perhaps fearing an unpleasant taste. But he took it into his mouth. Sure enough, she must have worked that shamish-flower-nectar all up in there too, as the "finger-like thing" tasted like fresh greens and sweet fruit drink combined. As soon as he began to suck, Py Nae Kot moaned loudly, panting, huffing and puffing. She unknowingly thrust her hip, pulling that thing out of his mouth. "OOHHH GOLLY DARN AMIGHTY THAT FEELS GOOD! YOU HAVE NO IDEA - DO MORE! SUCK HARDER!" Sunn held on to Py Nae Kot's body from crotch level, one arm around her big muscle-butt, and the other diagonal across her front and hip. She could not help but thrust her pelvis, it felt so good to her, she was unaware of what she was doing!Sunn sucked on that thing harder as she asked and held it firm in his lips so it wouldn't be pulled away by her undulating hips. He sucked and sucked, all the while Py Nae Kot moaning and groaning loud, panting heavily. Sunn found it more and more difficult to hang on to her thrusting crotch... "OOOHHHH! MANNN! I CAN'T STAND IT! I GONNA - OOHHH OOOHHHHH!" Orgasm roared to life, blasting it's way through her body! Unable to control herself, her pelvis thrust hard knocking Sunn away. She bodily grabbed him and pulled him to standing in front of her. "SHOVE IT IN!" she screamed! He rammed over a foot of throbbing, eager penis into her hot, slick vagina, thrusting it deep to and past the hilt! The orgasm continued to rack Py Nae Kot's body hard causing her to scream and screech involuntarily. Her screams echoed back from the village below and from the hill. The crow's nest was swaying to and fro from all the activity. Sunn was climaxing too now, and after all that time held back, he knew he was going to explode! Orgasm ripped from his penis as it blew up inside her genital and stormed through out the rest of his body. Almost immediately, she came to a second bellowing orgasm pulling him into his second... in short, a super-nova of pleasure and ecstasy blew both of them to fragments... It must have continued over 30 minutes. Finally, after the last orgasms sucked out all remaining energy out of their bodies, they fell limp, sitting or trying to lay, awkwardly, in that confined area. Their bodies steamed and smoldered, like cooling embers of a fire. Sunn just plain passed out. Py Nae Kot slept. Voices below woke Py Nae Kot who then jostled Sunn awake. "They must have heard us!" she whispered, "If anybody calls your name or mine, don't answer! We're not here!" "Okay" Indeed, all that screaming probably sounded like somebody being murdered. A few individuals below went calling, "is anybody hurt?" But after a time, they finally went back in to go back to sleep. "We'll just stay up here a while until everything is clear for sure." Py Nae Kot suggested."Boy, golly Py Nae Kot! You waiting for me up here and ambushing me like that! And then all that stuff you made me do! Gosh! You sure can be kinky!" "You're right! I am! That felt good, didn't it!?" "Mmm! Yeah!" Sunn lay his head on her bosom and caressed her hunky, tanned leg with his hand. She whispered softly in his ear, "Let's do this again... every single time the opportunity arises!..." * * * * * * * * Little more than TWO years since the start of the project finds this village once again basking in the summer, this time with much bigger cat hawks and much bigger sky chariots. The "final design" models of both Naguta's and Sunn's versions of sky chariots had just been built. They were only slightly larger than the ones built four months ago. But they were fully equipped this time. Equipped for actual use. There was a seat for the "driver" located at the front of the payload section. It was equipped with a door on the floor, a door on the side, a hassock for storing things and hooks on the walls to keep bows, arrows and spears. The front and back of the payload section essentially had incomplete walls so that wind could pass freely through. This was so that there would be minimal wind drag against the cathawks. In addition to a low, partial wall, guard rails were provided to insure against falling out. They also planned to wear a safety harness. Sunn and Naguta surmised that the cathawks were pretty much up to their adult size. Their training was also well in place. They obeyed all commands with accuracy. After construction of these new and final sky chariot designs, the cathawks were trained another two weeks to insure the cathawks were accustomed to the feel of the new sky chariots. Talk of the village became more and more of when Sunn or Naguta would actually seat themselves in the sky chariots and ride them! Everybody was so excited! People would sometimes ask of Sunn or Naguta, when are you gong to try it out? The answers during those few weeks was always, soon, very soon! Up to now, rocks, squirrels, rabbits, even small deer were used as passengers in test flights. The entire village was completely into this project. A 200 foot runway had been arranged for the sky chariot take-offs and landings. The tall structure with the crow's nest was still being used by Sunn, Py Nae Kot and Naguta for calling out commands to the cathawks. From the crow's nest, hollering at the top of their voices through a simple sound directing funnel, Sunn and Naguta could command the cat hawks to turn left or right, to go slow, speed up, ascend, descend, glide, and other commands. When the talk of the village of when Sunn or Naguta would finally test the cathawk sky chariots grew to a feverish level, even the elderly, patient Chieftain became more and more curious about when they would do it. One day he asked Sunn as he came down the 75 foot high mast, after a day of more training, "Well, my son, how about it? The people are getting most anxious, and so am I, I must confess." Sunn said, "Well, you know, the cathawks have actually been ready for some time now. I guess I have been just a little hesitant about trying it! But tonight, I will talk with Naguta and Py Nae Kot, and tomorrow morning, after just one more practice flight, I will remove the two yearling deer I've been using, take the seat and drive it myself!" That evening, Sunn met with Py Nae Kot and Naguta. Naguta seemed a little nervous. "I don't think mine are ready yet!" said he. Sunn said, "You have been using your reward and punishment training method, with punishment mostly being in the form of your loud, vile and vulgar mouth. You say that brings faster results! Well, yours seem to be ready! I know mine are. I think we are just a little queasy about that first flight!" Py Nae Kot added, "I would agree. But the time HAS come... our hesitating is holding up the great plan that the Goddess has in store for you... Also, since it WAS a Goddess, may I, a woman, be the first to fly the cathawk sky chariot? I am so excited!" Her eyes sparkled even prettier than they usually are. Her voice was always so melodic, a pure pleasure to hear. Sunn thought a minute. "With your parent's permission... we will both go, at one time. It would be most appropriate. The Goddess came to me, but you are also intimately involved. And I would certainly appreciate your company on that first, or any for that matter, flight!" Well, the next morning, and at the starting end of the runway was the Village Chieftain, all the Elders and Shamans, and a pressing throng of other people, lining the runway. No work would get done today, that's for sure. Sunn and Naguta readied their respective cathawks and sky chariots. "Well", announced Sunn, "We will first merely let the cathawks fly with all rock passengers this first time, just to warm up, this morning. Sunn was first, and then Naguta to put their cathawks through their paces. As usual, they shouted commands from that porch atop the mast. After some practice maneuvers, both sky chariots landed, and both Naguta, Sunn and Py Nae Kot were assembled at the start of the runway. The rocks were removed from the sky chariots. The air was "electric", not a word spoken... never before had a couple hundred people been that quiet. Sunn finally announced, "This is it folks. One of us is actually going to go up with our sky chariot, and ride skyward! Naguta will take the honor of being the first person to join the realm of the spirits! Er, that is... you know what I mean!" "Uh, I relinquish the honor back to Sunn, since HE was the one that was endowed with the divine knowledge!" Naguta said. "No", insisted Sunn, "It should be you! The Gods are not doing this just for ME to have honors! This is for all people! I have honors enough by developing this and being the one who was directly contacted by the Goddess! The honor should be spread, starting with Naguta!" "No, no," said Naguta, "the inventor should take the glory of his invention, not just his assistant!" "But this is not my invention, it is the Gods'! YOU take the honor and go first!" "No, YOU may go first!" "No, YOU go first!" "No, YOU first!" "No, don't be so generous, YOU first!" "No, no, no need, YOU first" "No..." "SILENCE!" ordered the Chieftain, out of patience with this "ping pong" match. "Since it appears that it can not be decided who to go first, I will make the decision, based on logic! Since it is Sunn who has been endowed with the knowledge and... yes, perhaps even an instinctive feel for this project, I therefore think it reasonable to assume that Sunn is best equipped to face this unknown first, himself. After his first test flight, then he can brief Naguta on any wiles that the skies up there might have to offer. Then Naguta may take his first test flight. I would recommend Py Nae Kot remaining on the ground for the VERY FIRST flight. Then she may join Sunn in his second test flight." This disappointed Py Nae Kot, but Sunn was actually relieved to have a greater authority make the decision. The Chieftain's decision was, indeed, logical. So now, Sunn had only to grapple with his own fears. Sunn removed his weight in rocks from his sky chariot. He tied the safety harness onto himself. Then he turned and stepped into the front end of the sky chariot's payload section and seated himself. The seat was comfortable, and familiar. He had sat in it many times before trying it out, and contemplating what it would be like to be carried skyward in it. And now, soon, he would be finding out. The cathawks, yoked and ready on the two main bamboo poles looked back at him, including the leader cathawk. They seemed curious if this guy, this live human, Sunn, instead of deer, was going to really let them carry him up into the skies. The scene was intensely still. Everybody, young, old, woman, man, even children holding relatively still, was looking at him, the cathawks, and the sky chariot. Sunn, seated, had not yet commanded his waiting cathawks to do anything. What would it be like, to be whisked up, up way over the forest, to such a dizzying height. Sunn thought about when he first started climbing that mere 75 foot mast to the crow's nest. Even THAT was a dizzying, somewhat unnerving experience. He STILL felt a little that way when climbing that. But the crow's nest atop the mast does not even quite reach the tops of the forest's trees. Sunn glanced at that crow's nest that he spent the past nearly two years climbing and hollering out commands to the cathawks. He glanced at the even slightly taller forest trees in the back ground, behind the crow's nest and mast. Now he was sitting in something, that, upon his mere two words, would take him way, WAY above those, into a world that even the Eldest wise man could not tell him about what it would be like. The seat was quite comfortable, he had built it well. It cradled Sunn snugly, and felt solid. When he sat back, he could look up or down with very little head movement. Sunn took a-hold of the reigns which would signal the leader cathawk extra and reinforcing commands. He looked at his Mother. She broke the silence with "DO be careful, Sunn!" He looked at his Father. He said, "AS you have let the Gods guide you on this project, so should you continue to let yourself, your mind, be open to feel their guidance, through this, your first test flight." Sunn looked at Py Nae Kot. She looked at the Chieftain and begged, "May I PLEASE go with him?" The Chieftain smiled, and said, "You ARE brave! At this point, I would say, go ahead, accompany him. But there is ONE PRACTICAL reason you shouldn't go. Simply, there isn't a SEAT for you." That WAS true all right. There was only the seat for the "driver". Although she was originally planning just to use a short tethered safety harness and sit on the floor toward the rear and hang on, Sunn agreed with the Chieftain, "Just let me go for a short flight. JUST to check it out. After all, NO ONE, NOBODY AT ALL has EVER done anything like this. Safety is paramount! When I land, we will go together, on a second and longer flight!" The Chieftain nodded in agreement. Py Nae Kot smiled at Sunn, SO pretty! "This is it!", Sunn exclaimed, "let it begin!" He sat straight, repositioned himself in the seat, took hold of the reigns... a couple month-long seconds of absolute silence... then at last he commanded, "GO! UP!" then braced for the sure-to-come movement of the sky chariot that his well trained cathawks would surely cause. But nothing! Nothing but one cathawk up front just beside and behind the leader cathawk fanning out his great wings, apparently getting ready to fly. The leader cathawk looked back at him as did a few other cathawks. Other cathawks fluttered their wings nervously and squawked. Cathawk squawks sometimes sounded just like actual hawks. Sunn surmised he had not spoken loud enough. "GO! UP!" he commanded, louder and more assertively this time. That did it! The cathawks were just unsure the first time, and maybe Sunn's voice was indeed a little weak due to nervousness that first time. Sunn saw the cathawks fan out wings and begin working in their usual well ordered canon. Sunn felt the sky chariot begin to move, slow at first, like when children pushed the sky chariot with Sunn seated in it pretending to fly. But this was real! Only seconds remained before Sunn would be the first person ever to leave the ground way behind! The sky chariot gained speed rapidly... wind in his face. The rattling of wooden wheels rolling over ground growing more and more frantic and loud... The faces of the villagers, most of whom Sunn know, whizzing by... And then, the beginning! Sunn felt himself rolling back, it startled him, it felt he was going to be somersaulted all the way over. It was, indeed, the nosing up, the sky chariot's take-off-flare! There was no stopping it now, it was committed to flight! The rattling noise of the front wheels directly below him ceased. It was only coming from behind now. A queasy floating sensation from the front - Sunn had to roll his eyes way down to still see the runway. The runway was quickly running out, the people at the end of it beginning to part aside, as they always do. "What's the matter, expecting a crash?" Sunn thought to himself but forced himself not to. No time. Things happening fast! AND THEN, SILENCE, at least relatively so. The rattling noise from the rear ceased, with only a remaining windy sound and the swoosh swoosh swoosh of the cathawks great wings working in well ordered unison. Sunn did not dare look down. But then he did. There was the village and all its houses below him! And whizzing by fast. The queasy, floating feeling was well pronounced now - were they rolling on their side? Talk about white knuckles - Sunn was holding on to that front rail the whole time so hard 'til it maybe would leave imprints! No, they were not rolling, just a momentary undulation, as the ground was pulling away, back and downward, fast. People below were a blur. In fact, Sunn in his sky chariot was now over a part of the village that was way away from the runway. There were actually very few people here! They were all at the runway! All manner of thoughts raced through Sunn's mind - Did I make the sky chariot strong enough? Will the cathawks panic and fly up-side down? Nah! Never seen THAT happen before. No time to think - another mile stone was about to happen - They were about over the end of the village way below - along with - about to clear the trees of the forest - Level with them now - Wow! - Can see forever! The top of the forest cleared, all those countless trees were now pulling away, backward and downward! Sunn thought how even the height of the tree-tops are! With every second, higher, and with every second, Sunn could see further and further! He could see all of Puget Sound! An eternity of distance! Sunn strained to look straight down - a fearful, dizzying scene! Looking straight down the tree-trunks from above made him feel queasy. He had to look away. Then the sky chariot began to lean, it seemed like, way over. "What's happening!? Am I going to be dumped down all that ways?" Sunn thought frantically! He tightened his grip on that guard rail in front of him - for sure it would leave impressions of his fingers now! But no, the cathawks were merely turning to the right. They were banking into the turn. Sunn had seen them do this from the ground many times. But, apparently, to see it from the ground, and feel it happening are two different things! The great eternal vista was turning around Sunn now. What a magnificent sight it was! Pulling into sight from the right was the village. The banking angle allowed Sunn to easily, clearly see it. How far down there it was! He saw the crowd, now beginning to spill into the runway surface. He could just make out that their heads were looking toward him or his sky chariot. He also made out some pointing gestures. But he could not make out any faces. Sunn looked at the starting end of the runway. On that end he knew was his parents, Naguta, the Chieftain, his lady friend, all down there somewhere, but he could not make them out. Too far away. He COULD see Naguta's sky chariot, parked, awaiting its turn. Now Sunn's sky chariot began to straighten out. It came out of the bank. Finally, Sunn began to loosen his grip on that poor ol' guard rail. He began to relax now. Things were not happening as fast. Everything was under control with the cathawks wings working in unison, in well ordered canon with a steady swoosh swoosh swoosh... slower and less hectic than at first. What a spectacular view! And there was the village, where he lived all his life, WAY down there. Funny, it looked rather insignificant. Sunn felt apart from them. He could not hear them. He could hardly see them. He could only see the crowd, like a singular, shapeless but ever changing mass. He could not see individuals. They were way down there, maybe over a thousand feet. Sunn began to relax even more, even enjoy this venture! He thought to himself, "Everything is all right. The sky chariot is sturdy, the cathawks well trained." Sunn finally felt secure enough to try out commanding the cat hawks from up here. He commanded them to turn. Sunn wished to become accustomed to that stomach-turning feeling of banking into a turn. He put the cathawks through a series of simple maneuvers. Everything was fine. All commands executed nicely. After a while, Sunn commanded the cathawks downward, not to land, but to fly close over the village... a sort of airborne bow. Sunn waved, as he passed a safe distance over the crowd and houses. Yes, Sunn WAS getting bolder now. He was beginning to enjoy this immensely. This would also make further training of the cathawks much easier. No more hollering from the crow's nest atop that mast. Not to say, more interesting, and maybe more fun for the cathawks themselves too. "Py Nae Kot simply must join me on this. She will enjoy it!" Thought Sunn to himself. "But first, I have to land! That's another thing, yet to experience the first time! Well, here goes!" With that, Sunn began to prepare to land. First, he had to clear the runway. He commanded the cathawks to swing around one more time for another aerial bow. As he passed low over the runway, he hollered, "CLEAR RUNWAY! I'M GOING TO LAND!" As he flew on over, he saw the people begin to clear off the runway. "LAND" Sunn commanded the cathawks. Sunn hoped they would know what to do. They always have. The cathawks swung around, gaining some altitude to safely clear the forest trees. They banked into a wide, sweeping turn. They were over the forest again. The sky chariot pulled out of the turn and straightened out. The village had pulled into sight from the side so that it was straight ahead now. They were now perfectly aligned with the runway, headed towards its nearest end. Descending over the trees now, Sunn once again began to get nervous, his grip on that guard rail tightening with a whitening of his knuckles! They were close over the tree tops now - could make out individual leaves if it was not for the speed. Then the forest edge - then over the village. Suddenly the sky chariot heaved downward. This turned Sunn's stomach and startled him as well. The cathawks' wings were turned at a strange angle making a particularly loud windy sound. The start of the runway fast approaching - Things happening fast again - Faces of the crowd a blur - Now OVER the start of the runway - the sky chariot rolled back, again startling Sunn, but no, not to worry, this is the landing flare - they always do it. A little more floating feeling then - CRUNCH, GRIND, the rear wheels touched down first with an accompanying rattling and vibration from the rear then - the front of the sky chariot now began floating down. Then again, CRUNCH, and the grinding, rattling noise was in full crescendo from all four wheels. The rattling noise slowly subsided as the cathawks quickly slowed them down with a peculiar flapping of their wings that Sunn had always observed from the ground. The peculiar flapping also produced a particularly loud swoosh swoosh that also blew wind into his back, from behind. "Must be a way of slowing down that they have developed." thought Sunn. Finally the sky chariot was slowed to a leisurely pace that allowed excited children to chase after him. The cathawks did not work their wings and just allowed the sky chariot to roll to a stop, a nice safe distance from the end of the runway. The crowd was tumultuous, besides themselves with excitement! Sunn climbed out of his seat and took off he safety harness. He was a bit queasy feeling from the experience. With the people cheering like mad, he pushed the sky chariot slowly backwards back to the start of the runway. "WOW!" was all he could think to himself. As he was arriving to the start of the runway, sure enough, the eager Py Nae Kot came running, jumping up and down gleefully, her long, jet black hair bouncing about her face and shoulders. "Let's go together this time!" she exclaimed. "How was it?" Sunn could only say, "YOU are going to LOVE IT!" "WOW! Let's get going!" she demanded. "Well, wait a minute, wait a minute!" replied Sunn, "Let's prepare some things first." With the crowd milling about, yakking away furiously, Sunn pushed his sky chariot back to the start of the runway. Hearty congratulations came from the Chieftain, Parents, Elders and other people. And from Naguta. "Boy, that was something!" he said. "Now I'M going!". Indeed, it was HIS turn. Encouraged by Sunn's flight, he was ready have a go at it! The Chieftain helped Naguta order the people off the runway. Naguta sat in his seat. Sunn said to him, "Man, you're in for an EXPERIENCE!" After some hesitation, Naguta gave the command, "GO! UP!" And his cat hawks obediently began their take off roll. Sunn, Py Nae Kot, and all the others watched Naguta's sedan-chair-like sky chariot zoom down the runway. Sunn knew what he was experiencing. However, not completely. Because of the different style, Naguta's sky chariot had no take off flare. It only had that initial leap, then a furious flapping of wings to get under way and airborne. People always commented that they liked the appearance of Sunn's sky chariot's take-offs better. More graceful they said. That leap must be rough. Indeed, when they observed Naguta's sky chariot do that initial leap, they thought they heard a muffled scream. They watched intently to see if Naguta would drop out. But he did not. His sky chariot continued skyward. Py Nae Kot was growing impatient. She was busting all over to get going. "Lets join him!" she demanded. "Okay, okay." agreed Sunn. He saw that Naguta was well established into his flight, then continued preparations for Py Nae Kot to go with him. Py Nae Kot's Parents were there. They were just a little concerned for their daughter's safety. They knew there was no way in the heavens to talk her out of going with Sunn on a flight. They did not like the idea of her sitting on the floor. But Sunn was ahead of them. He did not like it either. "Here," Sunn said to Py Nae Kot, "You will sit in the seat." Py Nae Kot said, "But last night we planned I was going to sit on the floor, toward the rear." "No," asserted Sunn, "I will sit on the floor. I know what it is like now. I will be okay." "But will they not be able to hear your commands?" she asked. Sunn said, "So who said I'M going to command them? YOU will. You have done it before! They know your pretty voice!" "Oh," she said, as to also say why didn't I think of that. Her face sparkled with excitement, "OH BOY! Lets GO!" Sunn, hovering over his precious Py Nae Kot like her own Father would have, strapped her in with no less than three belts, in addition to the safety harness. She wasn't going ANYWHERE! But she complained a bit about the belts being too restrictive. Sunn assured her that when flying, especially when taking off or landing, she is going to love those belts being there! Sunn himself used two safety harnesses, then sat, on his knees, INSIDE the hassock... he felt more secure there. He had to temporarily remove its lid. The Chieftain once more ordered people off the runway. Finally Sunn said to Py Nae Kot, "Okay Precious, on your command, we will start!" Py Nae Kot was thrilled, saying "WOW!" After some hesitation, she said, "Okay, lets get going!" With that said, she commanded, "GO! UP!" The cathawks spread their great wings and began the take off roll. Experiencing what Sunn had experienced earlier, she WAS glad those three belts were there! Up they went, high over the forest, as Sunn did by himself before. "WOW, look at that!" was an oft' heard exclamation from her as they ascended, and the sights of flying began to thoroughly thrill her. Sunn could not see much from his position inside the hassock. There were no windows or anything to see out of. He could see toward the back, and toward the front. The view to the front was gracefully blocked by the lovely presence of Py Nae Kot, her lustrous black hair blown back, waving in the wind. As Sunn did earlier, she began to loosen up and relax. She commanded the cathawks through some maneuvers. It felt strange, to Sunn, to be in that hassock, a mere passenger, with lovely Py Nae Kot giving the commands. He was relaxed too, in that cozy little hassock, his woman friend in control. He would not at all mind if this continued for quite a while. She was bolder too. The maneuvers she was putting them through were getting more and more vigorous. She also had ordered them much higher up than Sunn did before, by himself. Before he knew it, suddenly and without warning, she ordered the cathawks, "LOOP!" "NO!" shouted Sunn, but she did not hear with the wind in her face, and having too much fun anyway. The cathawks executed the command. They went into a dive. The wind noise waxed louder to deafening. When going at break-neck speed, the cathawks nosed up sharply. "WHOOEEE!" shouted Py Nae Kot, thrilled to craziness by the excitement! The sky chariot completed the command. Nosing up and up until they were up-side down, the sky chariot continued the loop, looping around back into a screaming dive, then nosing back up for an ascent that lasted until the energy dissipated. At that point they leveled off and continued to fly level. Sunn's heart was in his throat, or his stomach was, he couldn't tell which. He was shaking so bad he could not even speak. But Py Nae Kot lapped up the excitement ravenously. She looked back at Sunn, crouched in the hassock, and shouted, "WOW! How did you like THAT!? THAT was the BIGGEST... no... the SECOND BIGGEST thrill I've ever had in my LIFE! WHOOEEE!" Sunn could only crouch, shaking. Py Nae Kot, unaware of his condition, continued to seek more thrills. "Say," she shouted, "Lets go up to that cloud there! I've always wondered what a cloud looks like up close!" She pointed out a cumulus cloud building in the late summer-morning heat. It was still quite a ways above them. Sunn only feebly said, "Okay, but no more loops..." She perhaps did not hear him over the wind noise. She commanded the cathawks up higher and higher toward that cloud. At least Py Nae Kot was no longer putting the sky chariot through vigorous maneuvers. Sunn regained his composure, and at last crawled out of the hassock. He kept a good grip on various sky chariot frame members, and of course, kept on his safety harnesses. He worked his way over to beside and just behind her. Py Nae Kot put her arm around him and said, "This is SO MUCH FUN!" Sunn stressed, "Please do not do another loopy-loop. I'm not sure as to this thing's ability to handle it." Py Nae Kot said, "Oh it's okay, it handled it well THAT time. Besides, you've had them do it before with a much heavier load of rocks." "Yes," agreed Sunn but continued, "but I'm not sure... better not do it again." Py Nae Kot replied, "Oh! Okay. Say, we're getting close to that cloud now. I wonder what's there?" Like all summer time cumulus clouds, this cloud had a flat bottom and a puffy, billowing top. They were almost level with its flat bottom. All of a sudden, the sky chariot was buffeted, causing it to rock around and teeter a bit before the cathawks regained control. The steady cadence of their flapping wings was broken to, but they quickly regained it. Sunn tightened his grip on the seat frame and sky chariot frame. Py Nae Kot also tightened her grip on the guard rail. She exclaimed, "What's THAT!?" The turbulence was accompanied by a rougher, boiling windy noise and a rush of icy air. That sound quickly subsided back to a more normal although, slightly different wind-noise. But the wind now was an icy, numbing cold. Sunn shivered out, "Brr! Good grief! How did it get so cold all of a sudden!" Py Nae Kot shouted her reply over the wind noise, "Now we know why the sky-chariot and everything in it felt cool or cold after a flight, before!" It felt like a late autumn wind! It did not seem to bother Py Nae Kot. Sunn also noticed a spot of foggy mist behind them where they encountered the disturbance. They were now over the altitude of the cloud's flat bottom. They continued to ascend as they approach the cloud. Sunn said, a bit worried, "It's so cold. Maybe we better head back." But Py Nae Kot was too curious about the cloud. "No, not yet," she said, "It IS a bit chilly, but I'm okay. Lets just take a closer look at it then go back." The sky chariot drew closer and closer to the side of the cloud. It was indeed huge. Py Nae Kot said, "Wouldn't be cool if our entire village was up here on this!" Sunn replied, "Yes it would." But Py Nae Kot conceded, "But it's probably not possible. They're always changing shape, or even, disappearing. I wonder what it's made of!" They were soon to find out. They were VERY close to the cloud now. The sky chariot began to be buffeted. The cloud was like a mountain made of... puffy white stuff. The buffeting was getting worse as they began to draw close one of the clouds billows. It was seemingly coming up from below to greet them. The cloud was getting bigger. As they approached the cloud, they could see that it was translucent. Closer... closer... can almost reach out and touch it now... VAPORS! Like steam from boiling water! Just vapors. It was like fog. Not solid at all! Just for fun, she directed the cat hawks to fly right through a small extension of a billow from it. The sky chariot was being buffeted quite vigorously now. As they passed into it, the buffeting worsened. After penetrating the cloud, it resembled a cloudy, foggy day. It was damp feeling. Their faces became wet from a fine mist. Not to mention chilly. Generally speaking, it was like being in a dense fog. The cathawks themselves banked to turn and get out of there. The mist was getting courser, almost like rain, it was chilly and damp, plus the buffeting was becoming quite severe. It WAS time to leave. "Maybe we better go back home, Sunn," Py Nae Kot remarked. "These clouds have a way of turning into storms!" Sunn agreed. She ordered the cathawks, "HOME! LAND!" There was little change in the cathawks' heading. They were just trying to get out of the cloud. It seemed to be taking an awfully long time to get out. Were the cathawks going the right way? Which way WAS the right way? Py Nae Kot and Sunn were all turned around now, not knowing what direction to go, or even if they were going up or down. Maybe they were going down. The swirling wind and rain was going upwards, but they did not have the sensation of going down. It was getting a bit frightening! But later, finally, the rain was turning into mist again, it was getting brighter, and the buffeting beginning to ease. Then, brightness! Blue sky appeared! They were finally clear of the cloud! But - now what! It was not right. The sky above was such a dark blue! Even a few stars could be seen. Below, the ground, WAY far away, was awash in a bluish haze. They could not make out any details. It was ice-shivering cold! Somehow, while in the cloud, they had gained a lot of altitude! They were MILES from the ground! They were maybe two, two and a half miles high! Py Nae Kot's big brown eyes looked at Sunn, her face without her usual chipper expression. She was worried. "What's going on, Sunn!?" Sunn replied, "Nah, nah, do not worry. We will simply head back down. We must have been blown upward by an up-going wind inside the cloud or something. We're out of it now." The adventuresome gal's thirst for thrills got them into a little bit of trouble. They were both shivering from the cold. What was worse, is that the cathawks were nosing downward now to begin their descent. Their wings out- stretched for gliding, they began to speed up. The wind grew stronger and the noise waxed loud. Now, teeth chattering from the bitter cold, something had to be done, or they would freeze! The hassock was the only answer. Sunn told Py Nae Kot to squat with him in the hassock. Of course, she agreed. With shaking hands, Sunn moved the anchor-point of Py Nae Kot's safety harness from the seat frame to a position further back so as to enable her to crawl back. Then Sunn started to take off one of his safety harnesses to put it on her. "Never mind that!" Py Nae Kot said, "You just hold on to me. Help me release my belts!" Sunn and Py Nae Kot herself took off the three belts. Finally released from the seat, Py Nae Kot and Sunn made their way towards the back, where the hassock was. It took some doing, but they both managed to squeeze, pry, and stuff themselves into that hassock. Whew, that was much better. Away from the worst of the wind, and sharing each other's body heat, right away they felt warmer. But it was cramped, VERY cramped. And of course they could not see anything. Except each other. Now more comfortable, Py Nae Kot started getting ideas. She was thinking of that "second biggest thrill" a while ago and how nice it would be to experience an episode of that "number one greatest thrill"!... For some minutes the sky chariot zoomed through a limitless sky. Then, while huddled in the hassock, they felt a turbulence. The wind was suddenly warmer. Later, as they continued to descend, it became warmer still. They crawled out of the hassock and "unfolded" themselves. Py Nae Kot made her way to the seat to watch what was going on. They could see everything. There was the high, far mountain to the south-east, so clear, huge and majestic! All the mountains to the west could be seen. They could see all the way across Puget Sound. Way below, in the vastness of the forest, was a brown spot here, and a brown spot there... Each spot was of course, a village. Sunn suddenly realized he did not know which was theirs. "How do we know which village is ours?" he asked. Py Nae Kot reassured, "Don't worry! The cathawks know which one is theirs! Besides, when we get lower, we can tell ourselves. No OTHER village has a RUNWAY... and a tall MAST with a porch on top." "Yeah, yeah, silly me", Sunn admitted. Py Nae Kot placed her arm around him and drew him tightly next to her. With eyes sparkling, she smiled so pretty at him. She gave him such a tight squeeze, he could hardly breath. He was always surprised at the strength those lovely, shapely arms of hers had! With Sunn so embraced, they continued to descend. As they descended, the ground, growing closer and closer, began to reveal details. It was warmer now. Especially Py Nae Kot, SHE was MUCH warmer now! She ordered the cathawks, "LEVEL! SLOW!" They leveled off their descent, and slowed down. That noisy wind reduced to just a breeze. Sunn said, wondering, "What are you doing?" Py Nae Kot just looked at him, her eyes afire! "Oh no, not up here!" pleaded Sunn. She left her seat to sit on the sky chariot floor with Sunn. As she loosened her clothes worn precisely FOR the cold, and began stripping them, slowly, sensuously, she said softly, "And why NOT up here? Our Parents are WAY down there, impossible for them to know... we'll just linger up here a while longer..." Topless now, her impressive wide shoulders, firm, muscled arms, a firm shapely breast and tight tummy, all finished off with her beautiful bronze-tan skin... Sunn was helpless to stop her now! The sight of strong, big and long beautifully muscled legs, and big, wide, shapely hips now bared, indicated the completion of her impromptu strip-tease. There was nothing on her entire six feet and six inch curvaceous body except that safety harness! Sunn was trapped, maybe 1500 feet over the vast forest, flying slowly to nowhere in particular, with a ravenous, sex-hungry creature coming at him! Her eyes, aflame, were never off his, until she made her final move, pinning Sunn beneath her burning, hard body! At that, she went to work on him, gratifying her raging desires! The floor plan of the sky chariot fit this kind of activity quiet well. The length was just enough to accommodate their fully laid out bodies. The width, though snug, was enough to accommodate sex! Although open in the front and back, there WAS a partial wall, a barrier at both front and back to keep one safely contained in the space of the floor without falling out. Py Nae Kot designed the basic lay-out of the sky chariot's payload section. One could wonder if SHE had this in mind ALL ALONG! Only the hassock, centered left-right wise, at the rear, got in the way. And that was Sunn's last minute design idea. Py Nae Kot had no complaint, though. After all, it had just saved them from frost-bite earlier. Besides, at the moment, she was not thinking much at all! Py Nae Kot raked Sunn's body with her steaming vagina, already hot and juiced up. Thrusting wildly, the muscles in her hard butt flexed mighty, commanded by a hungry genital searching out a hard penis. Though Sunn's started out soft, such intense stimulus caused it to quickly harden up. Engorged, Sunn's penis hurt and ached for the feel of a soft, loving female genital enveloping it, snuggling it, providing a warm, soothing home for it. Py Nae Kot lowered her hot, dripping vagina over his huge penis, and it hastily burrowed its way deep into Py Nae Kot's inviting body. Remembering the experience in the crow's nest last year and a few times after that, Sunn asked breathlessly, "You want me to suck that... that... finger-like thing..." "OOHHH! MMMMM! No, never mind... Ohh! I haven't had a bath, it might smell bad to you... OOHHH! Man, it feels so GOOD! Your cock deep inside me... I just hold still and let it... Mmmmm! Just tarry in there..." Py Nae Kot halted her wild pumping, allowing Sunn's big, hard penis to just sit still, inside her, or as still as he could manage. His penis kept throbbing, pulsing up and down. Also Sunn couldn't hold back from at least a little thrusting."Hold still, Sunn! Just let it linger inside me! Mmmmm! That's it!" Over him, straddling him, with the entirety of his engorged penis inside her, she looked at him, her eyes to his, a peaceful smile on her face, lips pursed. She lowered her lips to his, and gently gave him a love-peck on the lips."Mmmm, I Love you Sunn, and you feel so cute, so warm inside me like this. Mmmmm! You know, I never had a chance to do like this... always we have to fuck quick and separate before someone discovers us. But up here, with our cathawks plodding along up here in the sky, no one can disturb us! So we can take... our... time..." She said those last three words with measured slowness to emphasize her point, and with a gentle, sensuous voice almost at a whisper."OHH! But Py Nae Kot! I can't stand it! I gotta pump my Love into ya..." "You just hold on, or I'll punish you by pulling my cunt away... like so!" She raised herself quite a ways before she could clear ALL of that big, long penis.Outside was so harsh! His penis throbbed painfully and the cool air stung! "OW! NO! Put it back in! Please! Let me..." "Shh! This was just to show you ..... there now, is that better?"After burrowing back into the loving warmth of her body, Sunn felt better..."Okay, Master Py Nae Kot, I will obey, no thrusting." "That's better! You see, this way, it lasts longer!" They kept that up as long as they could until the urge to thrust and thrash away became just too excruciating. Then, an explosion of hard thrusting passion! They pulled out several orgasms out of each other and finally, after the last orgasm stole all last remaining energy out of his body, Sunn fell limp and slept while Py Nae Kot remained over him. His penis was still inside her body but softening. She let his penis remain inside her until it became soft and small enough to slip out on its own. She then got off Sunn and laid at his side propped up on her elbow. She smiled, looking down at him while he slept. She lowered her lips to his to steal another peck, then resumed just looking at him. She had not enough sex. "So cute, so lovable and warm..." She felt the skin around her nipples stretched taut, and her vagina burned and tingled. "So vulnerable! Gosh, I burned the poor guy out!" One of her big, long tawny legs was still over Sunn's lower body. Her long, iridescent black hair draped down her own well built shoulders on down to his shoulders beneath her. She looked at him, smiling, admiring, just thinking how cute he is and how much she loved him a little while longer then finally laid down all the way herself to sleep. After a while, Py Nae Kot awoke and realized quite a bit of time had gone by, so at last she got up from Sunn's side. She lovingly covered him up with both her own and his clothes so that he would not catch a chill. Nude, except for the safety harness, the breeze felt good to her. She felt plenty warm, still hungry for more sex. She seated herself and had a look around, to see where they were. During all this time, the cathawks had been flying, level, slowly, their great wings producing a slow woosh.. woosh.. woosh... They had gone quite a distance. She did not recognize the land. Although they had not ascended OR descended, the ground looked close. It was "coming up" to meet them. They were over mountains that lie west of their village. There were no apparent clearings any where in the expanse of forest below them. Apparently the land was too rugged, and nobody lived here. She ordered the cathawks around to head back east. She also ordered, "UP!" The cathawks began to ascend. As the altitude increased, it became cool again. As they approached more familiar territory, their altitude had increased quite a bit by that time. It was beginning to get chilly. "This is high enough," thought Py Nae Kot to herself. "I've got to snap Sunn out of it, or his and my Parents might know, at least suspect." Sunn was still lolling on the floor, passed out. That chilly breeze was beginning to get to Py Nae Kot's nude body, so she needed her clothes back on any way. She shook Sunn, ordering, "Wake up! Wake up!... Come on, snap out of it!" He stirred finally, groggy, stiff and sleepy-eyed. "How long have we been up here!" he asked sleepily. "Long enough. You're a mess. Our folks will know what we've been up to. Hurry, get your clothes on. I know how to wake you up!" She pushed at him to hurry and dress. "Now get in the hassock and hang on!" she ordered. "Why?" asked Sunn, wondering why she was herding him into the hassock. "Because we're going to LAND. It's more secure there." she replied. Well, that sounded reasonable. He crawled back into the hassock while she put her own clothes back on. She took her seat, back in control. She looked back to see to it that Sunn was secure, sitting in the hassock. He still looked sleepy. "All right!", she announced, "We're going in for landing!" He was satisfied with that. Py Nae Kot, with an impish sparkle in her eyes, then said, "But FIRST, as I said I was, I'm going to WAKE YOU UP!" Sunn sleepily started to say, "What do you mean..." but he was to find out beyond a doubt what she meant, when she ordered to the cathawks, "LOOP!" "Oh NO! Not AGAIN!" pleaded Sunn, but too late. The cathawks started by going into a screaming dive. Then pulling up suddenly, they whirled in a great circle which had them up-side down at one point. The only thing keeping both of them seated was the centrifugal force of the loop! They completed with another screaming dive. As the cathawks came out of the dive, they all pulled a lot of "G's" while bottoming out and beginning a parabolic ascent. Definite cracking sounds were coming from the sky chariot's frame this time. Py Nae Kot heard the sound too, and immediately flicked the reigns to command the cat hawks to come out of the hard ascent. They came out of it, so quickly in fact that they pulled a mild partial negative "G". The big sweeping change in "G"-forces had Sunn swallowing back down his heart, stomach and everything else inside him. Even the adventuresome, rugged Py Nae Kot was effected. She had a brief second or two of nausea. But Sunn was AWAKE! WIDE AWAKE, GUARANTEED! Back to level flight now, Py Nae Kot commanded the cathawks, "HOME! LAND!" After the loopy-loop, they had already lost a lot of altitude. The cathawks began the rest of the descent back to their village, for a landing. Py Nae Kot had to command the cathawks to just fly over the runway first. She shouted, "CLEAR THE RUNWAY!" It had been such a long time, the crowds had dispersed, but people were on the runway just by chance of walking across it and so on. Almost all the crowds had dispersed. Py Nae Kot could see that there was still a small contingent of people at the start of the runway. She commanded the cathawks around one more time, this time to align to the runway and land. The landing was executed smoothly, nicely. Py Nae Kot and Sunn stepped off the sky chariot and began to push it to the start of the runway. Py Nae Kot's Mother and Father came running to meet them. Py Nae Kot's Mother had some things to say!... "Py Nae Kot!", her Mother demanded, "WHERE did you all GO!? For so LONG? What were you doing up there, and what OH WHAT was that LOOPING BUSINESS FOR!? If your intent was to age your Mother 20 years... MISSION ACCOMPLISHED! You all scared the daylights out of your Father and me!" Py Nae Kot insisted, "DON'T worry about it Mamma, everything was okay! I was in control the WHOLE TIME. It was MY idea to do the loopy-loops, so don't blame Sunn. In fact, he didn't want me to do them." Her Mother, in agreement with Sunn, replied, "As well he shouldn't have, young lady! Why do you always have to be so wild!? You KNOW that thing is new, nobody knows what it will do or anything else, not even the Elders and Shamans." Py Nae Kot replied, "Okay, okay, so no more loopy-loops. Indeed, during that last one, I heard something crack. But everything else is fine. Sunn and I will be able to go on many meaningful missions of learning and exploration! We learned a lot, even THIS time." One could tell that Py Nae Kot's Mother would just rather not have her Daughter flying around up there. But there was no stopping that head-strong Daughter of hers! Oh well, at least she agreed, no more loopy-loops! Py Nae Kot,s Father along with Sunn's own Parents congratulated the two of them, but ALSO pleaded with them "no more loopy-loops"! Then Sunn thought to ask his Parents, "Oh, how did Naguta do?" Sunn's Father replied, "The Chieftain wants to see all three of you at his house. Naguta fell out once. Only his safety harness saved him! Seems like his design of putting the cathawks below was not so good. Too top heavy. The take-off was rough, the landing rough, and while flying, every time there was any buffeting, his sky chariot wanted to turn over. It really did once. That's when he fell out!" "Wow!" said Sunn, "Is he all right?" His Father replied, "He is badly bruised where the harness caught him, and one of his ribs is tender to the touch. He will be all right, but his design simply will not do! Looks like you knew what you were doing all along. Your design IS the best! I'm so proud of you!" But Sunn conceded, "Well remember Dad, it was a Goddess who gave me the design, straight into my head. Naguta merely dared change it, that's all." But saying that did not change the feelings of Sunn's proud Father and Mother. Their Parents left Py Nae Kot and Sunn to finish un-yoking the cathawks and putting things away. Sunn would have to investigate what cracked, and make the necessary repairs. As soon as their Parents left, Py Nae Kot leaned heavily on Sunn, almost knocking him down and, while grinning impishly, whispered into his ear, "Well boy!, looks like we now have a way to go off and work it out whenever we have to, right!?" Sunn hesitated a few seconds, his face turning a bit reddish, then replied, whispering, "Yes, Precious... yes. It DOES seem like we do." That evening, Sunn, Py Nae Kot and bruised up Naguta, some Elders and the oldest Shaman all met in the Chieftain's house. The Chieftain was no-nonsense. They talked performance. How did the sky chariots fly, and what was it like up there. And where did Sunn and Py Nae Kot go. (Of course they did not tell EVERY thing!) They spoke of the cloud, and that clouds are made of mists, rain and winds, and how it gets colder the higher you go. And they talked of other things. But one definite conclusion was made, and they all agreed, including Naguta, and that was Naguta's sky chariot design must go! In the following days, and weeks, Naguta indeed DID build another sky chariot, in strict accordance to Sunn's design. His cathawks had to be retrained for the new design. But they learned quickly, perhaps because of mental telepathy between Sunn's cathawks and Naguta's cathawks. After six weeks, Naguta's cathawks were almost completely accustomed to the new design. Naguta enjoyed flying the new design, it was indeed superior. A few minor improvements for both sky chariots: A rear seat was added. The one large hassock, in back and centered, was replaced by two smaller hassocks, half-way from front to back, one on each side. And lots and lots of warm clothes were packed into those hassocks, guaranteed! * * * * * * * * In the following weeks, months, up to a year to the next summer, where we find Py Nae Kot, Sunn and Naguta to be 25 years old, they continue to practice, explore and discover. The three of them became pretty much experts at such things as weather, geography, and cartography. They knew where all the other Native Americans were, and what they were doing. Now, so outfitted with such powerful tools, and fully trained in their use, the people of the village and the Chieftain began to wonder "What now?... Now that we have all this, what do the Gods want us to do with it? What about that business of saving our people from the white-skinned, humanoid monsters?" Every day almost, the Chieftain would ask at least one Elder or a Shaman, or either Py Nae Kot, Sunn or Naguta if they had any strange dreams. But none out of the ordinary so far. But the Chieftain knew, for SURE, SOMETHING MUST BE about to happen. Naguta was proving to be somewhat of a trouble-maker. It was just too tempting to resist! Sometimes bored with the usual charting or mapping duties the Chieftain had been ordering them to do, Naguta's mind would cook up some devilish things. As their mapping expeditions took them farther and farther away from their village, distances so great that it would take travelers on the ground months to reach, the Native American villages they were observing from the sky began to look quite a bit different. Naguta must have thought, these people are so far, so strange... what would be the harm? Once Naguta thought he was by himself. He observed a contingent of Indians on the ground, trekking across a large field. Naguta commanded his cathawks to dive. Swooping down from behind, he roared inches over their heads, screaming and yelping to boot. Needless to say, it scared the begeebers out of them. They scattered like so many just-disturbed roaches. They had never seen a cathawk sky chariot before, so of course they were frightened. They probably thought a dragon was about to devour them! "HAH HAH HAH!" Naguta roared in hearty laughter! But as he pulled out of his dive, returning to the skies, he was met by Sunn and Py Nae Kot in their sky chariot. They had been in the same general area, saw Naguta, and wanted to tell him something. As they approached from afar, they past either behind or through several small clouds. Naguta simply had not seen them coming. "NAGUTA!!", scolded Py Nae Kot, "JUST WHAT DO YOU THINK YOU'RE DOING!?" Guaranteed, had they been speaking English, Naguta would have sounded like he was suggesting a name for that future Washington-State town, Walla Walla... "Well-uh, well-uh, uh, um, well-uh, you see I, uh..." stammered Naguta. Py Nae Kot scolded, "We SHOULD report this behavior to the Chieftain!" Sunn added, "Naguta, you should NEVER loose sight of the fact that these sky chariots and the power they bring is a gift to us from the Gods. Don't dare ABUSE it, man!!", he insisted. The two cat-hawk sky chariots were flying side by side now. Shouting over the sound of the wind noise, they often communicated in this way. Naguta pleaded with them not to tell the Chieftain, promising never to do that again. Py Nae Kot was the strictest one, but she and Sunn both agreed. But Naguta enjoyed the power too much. He was more careful in the future not to be seen. Perhaps he did more dive-bombings. He sometimes returned with corn, apples, big tubs of berries, once a bow and three arrows not of their tribe's design, and other stuff. Once he returned with a token of some sort, made of pure gold. Perhaps a stupid move, but he was so proud of it, he made it into a necklace and wore it. He claimed he had found it. One day however, the token was missing. The necklace was there by Naguta's bed where he had left it, but the token was gone. "Some son of a gol-durn dam mother-kicker stole it!" grumbled Naguta to himself. Naguta reported this to an Elder. The Elder, after a brief consultation with a couple other Elders, called a village-wide search. (One must understand, under the situation of a compact Native American village, somebody stealing things would be most reprehensible. It was a rare occurrence. Stealing from other tribes, especially unfriendly ones, maybe. But not WITHIN a tribe or village!) But anyway, the token was not found. Naguta was not satisfied. He wanted to get the one who stole it. "I'll get another one," he thought, "put it on the necklace, put it beside my bed, and feign sleep. That way I'll nab him!" He had to wait for the right kind of day. He had to wait until the Chieftain ordered Naguta on a project that would require him to fly in the right direction, and sufficient distance. Also, the day had to be clear, as cloud-free as possible. That day finally came. The Chieftain ordered Naguta to a very far away place, way across the (later-to-be-called) Puget Sound, onward east of that, past thefirst range of high mountains, on to a valley that lay on the other side. Apparently a Shaman wanted more of a type of herb collected earlier from there. He said it had possible useful medicinal properties. Anyway, that just so happened to be the direction of the tribe with the gold tokens. For such a long trip, Naguta said the weather must be clear. The Chieftain and Shaman agreed. There was no rush. Such a clear day came, and Naguta was off. Even by cathawk sky-chariot it took several hours to reach that far destination. Flying over water and mountain, people on foot would take months to get there. The day was clear, no clouds. Naguta landed in the meadow where the herbs the Shaman wanted grew. He gathered a big basket full, then took off for his NEXT destination in that area, the unapproved one! It was not too far from there. Along toward the eastern areas of the valley, was another meadow. Naguta carefully descended, approaching the area for a landing. He scoured the ground for anybody there. After he was sure there was nobody, Naguta made his final approach. In this meadow was a well-worn foot trail, and beside it in a certain area, a large ornate Totem Pole. This Totem Pole was decorated with many solid gold ornaments, some of which obviously were tokens. Naguta's cathawk sky-chariot rolled nicely all be it bumpily, due to the thick vegetation of the meadow, to a stop, besides the Totem Pole. Naguta exited the sky-chariot, walked over to the Totem Pole, and looked it over, somewhat resembling somebody in a jewelry store. When he selected one, he just removed it from its niche. Now there were two empty niches on that Totem Pole. Naguta stood there a few seconds, admiring it, then began to go, when suddenly, an ear splitting cacophony of wild yelping and whooping exploded behind him! A contingent of five warriors were charging up from a small, squat tree that apparently they had been hiding under! Naguta thought he had breathed his last! "How!?" he thought, it had been many weeks! Had they been hiding under that same tree day after day all this time!? But no time to think! Naguta turned to run toward the cathawk sky-chariot, but the cathawks were lunging forward, frightened by the sudden racket! Naguta could not reach them! He stumbled - the five ferocious looking warriors were actually going to grab him! Armed with knives and just plain brute force size and strength, there would be no hope for escape! Consisting of three men and two big muscle women, with one of the women obviously the leader, or at least leading the charge, they were decked out in horrible, scary looking war-paint, masks and shields! (Longer hair, shriller voices and large but firm (and bare) breasts gave away the two women behind the masks.) And they obviously meant business. One of the muscle women took a flying leap for Naguta's ankles! A firm, strong hand grabbed Naguta's foot causing him to stumble and fall, a "full-featured, beautifully embarrassing 'face-plant'"! And so Naguta was caught! Nabbed by these foreigners, many hundreds of miles from home! In a flash, Naguta thought of his Mother, his Father, then of Sunn. He thought for sure he was about to resemble a pin-cushion with all those knives in him! He was wincing in expectation of the coming stabbing pain! But catching him was apparently enough. The second muscle woman and one of the men joined the first muscle woman in holding him down. The other two male warriors stood close by, the three were sufficient. Naguta was held firm. Their speech was foreign. Naguta could not understand, but he surmised that they were not about to honor him with a party in his name, that's for sure! But strange, the leader warrior woman spoke to the other four in sign language. This, Naguta understood. I least, MAYBE he understood, for it appeared that she said, "Enough, I think he has learned his lesson, I will speak to him of the token." The leader warrior woman was holding Naguta down with her knees now, freeing her hands to sign and... take off her mask. WHAT A SURPRISE FOR NAGUTA, WHEN SHE DID REMOVE THE MASK!!! For there, over him, so dominantly, was none other than... than... it was none other than PY NAE KOT!!! Naguta was aghast! He could not believe it!! What is SHE doing here... HOW did she get here... what th'... maybe only looks like her... but... "NOW what are you going to do!?" said she! Indeed, it WAS Py Nae Kot, her solid but melodic voice, and of course, Naguta's own tongue. Naguta, absolutely speechless, just lay there submissively. Py Nae Kot continued, "You know these people are within their right to imprison you, even execute you! Desecration of a religious object carries a severe punishment with us too! Their Shamans could order you to death!" Naguta only swallowed hard. Py Nae Kot continued further, "Fortunately, not so. These are a very forgiving, friendly people. Although well honed in their fighting abilities because of neighboring tribes continually trying to steal their gold, they proved to be cooperative in helping me teach you a lesson! I offered them much fish, a delicacy they rarely have in this dry land so far inland. I spruced that up with polished agates from the mountain that lies west of our village (she refers to Mt. Olympia), and after a lot of talking, and rides in the cathawk sky- chariot for their Chieftain and Chief Shaman, I arranged this little show, JUST FOR YOU! AREN'T I NICE!!?" concluded Py Nae Kot in a husky, teasing voice! Naguta, STILL speechless, just lay there. The three big strong warriors were unnecessary to hold him down. Right now, a feather could have done it! Finally, relieved, he managed to get out, "H.. How? How did you get here, how did you know?" The ever dynamic, surprising Py Nae Kot was as intelligent as she was strong and beautiful! She signed to the other warriors to let Naguta go. He wasn't going anywhere. The cathawk sky-chariot had "drifted" quite a ways away by now, with the nervous, jittery cathawks. Anyway, Naguta did NOT WANT to get away. He wanted to hear how Py Nae Kot did it! She began to explain to him... Apparently, starting with the day she first observed Naguta wearing that necklace with a solid gold token he claimed he had "found", she began to suspect. You see, she and Sunn had discovered the far away tribe with all their gold too. Apparently, this tribe was just lucky enough to have settled, by chance, where there was considerable gold deposits in a cave or something. Ever curious, adventurous and friendly, Py Nae Kot had endeavored to contact this tribe (along with others) to just be friends and share skills and culture. She managed to contact these people actually BEFORE the token was stolen. Py Nae Kot flew there one day to be greeted by suspicion. A Shaman and one or two of her friends there, using sign language, explained the stolen token, and that some suspected her. At that time, she had already seen Naguta with the token, then knew, exactly knew where Naguta had "found" it! After much explaining, especially of Naguta's out-lawish personality, they were reassured that they would get their token back, but after helping Py Nae Kot teach Naguta a lesson first. Their Chieftain, Shamans and Elders agreed. They WOULD teach this wayward young man a lesson or two! After that, they made arrangements. Py Nae Kot knew that if the token was taken away from Naguta, he would just get another. So Py Nae Kot, yes PY NAE KOT, with the stealth of a stalking cat, slipped into Naguta's house and "stole" the token from him. This tribe had already had their token back for quite a few days now! They merely did NOT put it back on the Totem Pole so that when Naguta returned for another, he would see the still-empty niche. By closely observing Naguta, Py Nae Kot knew when he was going to leave. Getting a head-start on Naguta was easy, for he always had a hard time getting up from bed. Py Nae Kot simply got up at the first sign of the rising sun, and took off. The rest, you can probably surmise! Oh yes, and all the while, Py Nae Kot's and Naguta's own tribe's Chieftain, Shamans and Elders knew of Py Nae Kot's plan. She had solicited their cooperation. Besides, they readily agreed that Naguta should be taught a lesson! Well, he learned all right! Call him "Mr. Apologize" now! And that tribe was INDEED forgiving. He and Py Nae Kot attended and watched while this far away tribe's people replaced both tokens to their niches on their Totem Pole. After a brief "Peace-Ceremony" in their village, Py Nae Kot and Naguta each got in their respective cathawk sky-chariots and took off. Naguta saw that Py Nae Kot's sky-chariot was skillfully hidden from view from above. Sunn was not here, Py Nae Kot felt she could do this more efficiently alone. Also, the additional weight of Sunn would have slowed down the sky-chariot from reaching its destination well before Naguta. Indeed, that pretty much straightened Naguta out. No longer was he observed coming back from expeditions with corn, apples, big tubs of berries, bow-and-arrow-sets and other stuff... including tokens! Py Nae Kot scored some high points in the minds of the Chieftain, Shamans and Elders. The big, passionate, robust Py Nae Kot thrived on adventure and excitement, and although she has had her own naughty moments, she used her energies in the right direction THIS time. One Elder said, "Maybe now, we can expect the same from Naguta, for I have often observed, that those people who seem to be forever in trouble or mischief, simply need a redirecting of their energies into some worth-while challenge. Under that condition, such people often become the more dynamic members of any society!"
