movie mixed scissors scenes by dmg The Vampire Effect 2003 Also known as "The Twins Effect" (mainly due to the fact that Gillian Chung & Charlene Choi comprise an extremely popular Asian musical group known as The Twins.) STARRING; Jackie Chan Charlene Choi Gillian Chung Directed by Dante Lam GENERAL DESCRIPTION; an evil duke tries to collect the blood of a royal family of European vampires, as this will make him all powerful. he and his bloodsucking horde of the undead are opposed by a determined band of skilled vampire killers. SCISSORS SCENES; 1) a vampire killer finds himself alone in a railroad car with about 20 vampires. as he leaps out of the window onto the platform his beautiful assistant arrives at a window high above and sees his plight. she shoots a rope down into the railroad car which wraps around the neck of a vampire. she then loops the rope around a hook and leaps down toward the car. the weight of her falling body pulls the entangled vampire out the window of the car and up toward her. they pass in midair and she swings into the window of the car. the vampires are now surrounding her partner but a second later she bursts out of the window and clamps a flying headscissors on the vampire nearest her, flipping him to the ground. leaping gracefully to her feet she dispatches him with a sword thrust to the chest. 2) the male vampire hunter, aided now by another beautiful, but this time inexperienced partner, has a long battle with a tough vampire. when he finally gets into position to strike the death blow and raises his sword above his head she races forward. screaming, "i'll do it!" she leaps at him and unintentionally traps him in a front headscissors, his face pressed into her crotch area. her momentum forces him backwards and he staggers about with her legs around his neck and unable to see. they crash into a wall and crumple to the ground as the vampire escapes. 3) after an awesome scene where the girls slice and dice their way through 20- 30 vampires, one of the girls goes head to head with the duke. early in the long battle she leaps at him and applies what could probably best be called a leg half nelson. she winds up on his shoulders facing away with one leg down his back and hooking one of his arms while her other leg is under his neck.she flexes that leg, choking him between her thigh and calf. they both spin wildly around like a dervish as he tries to throw her off. when they stop she looks down and flexes her leg, once again squeezing his neck hard between her thigh and calf. it's clear she is winning now as he can barely breathe. they start spinning again, and this time she releases him, sending him flying. POSITIVES: the scissors get better as the movie goes on. 2 was better than 1, and 3 was better than 2. the acting, the special effects, and especially the martial arts in this movie were top notch. even the ground wrestling that followed scissors #3 was excellent, as they both punished each other with choke holds, and kept reversing positions, each one trying to maintain their advantage. it was all extremely well directed and executed. NEGATIVES: there were a few points in the story where things became a bit silly. with Jackie Chan involved, you know you will get a certain dose of comedy, funny or not, but no real harm was done here. OVERALL RATING: ***
