Dragonheart: New Beginning 1999

GENERAL DESCRIPTION: it's a fanciful tale of good and bad dragons and the
humans who interact with them. tiny but powerful Rona Figueroa puts on quite a
show as an old man's guardian who turns out to be a princess. she defeats
dozens of sword wielding thugs using some of the most terrific martial arts
moves i've seen in some time. she also uses some ultra feminine weapons such
as collapsible fans and athletic flyng headscissors. no less than three times
her supple legs find their mark, each time sending a large and well armed male
crashing to the ground.

SCISSORS SCENES: a group of the king's guard are about to thrash a stable boy
for a small indiscretion when they turn their attention to an old Chinese man
and his tiny companion, who they think is a boy. she is dressed all in white
wearing a large wooly Mongolian hat. the head guard gets loud with them but
when he reaches a hand out to touch the old man she kicks his hand away with a
lightnng strike. he is not hurt but stares at the "boy" in total amazement. he
reaches out again and this time the kick is harder and drives him back. at his
command they draw their swords and prepare to charge. the old man leans over,
smiles, and whispers, "be gentle with them." she is anything but that as the
guards find themselves up against a whirling dervish. she scatters them with a
flurry of kicks, flips and chops. one by one she disarms them, sending their
swords flying away to stick into a tree inches from the head of the bewildered
stable boy. as one guard foolishly tries to attack again she nimbly scissors
his legs causing him to fall heavily. as he regains his footing she leaps up
and lands on his shoulders from behind. for a few brief seconds she sits on
her perch looking down at him before she leans forward and flips him to the
ground, where he again lands painfully. with a few parting kicks she sends the
routed guards running for their lives. as she does her hat comes off and the
stableboy realizes for the first time that it was a girl who had so easily
manhandled the king's guards. 2) the princess (who's gender is no longer
hidden) is wearing only a pajama-like white outfit and her long, black hair is
flowing freely as she battles a small squad of guards in the castle. after one
is dispatched with a roundhouse kick another approaches from behind and picks
her up, cradling her in his arms like a baby. one arm is under her back while
the other is under the back of her knees. she brings one leg up and snares him
in a tight headscissors and instantly flips him to the ground. as they both
lie on the floor she lifts one leg high and crashes it down on his stomach
before nailing him with an elbow to the face. it's needless to say that he is
totally incapacitated.

POSITIVES: beautiful girl, obviously well schooled in the martial arts.
excellent set ups, camerawork, lighting, and terrific energy displayed by all
parties involved. i also approve of the clothing she wore in the last scissors
scene. while less is much better, her tight but virginal white pajamas
definitely tripped my trigger. well done.

NEGATIVES: all three scissors are combat style, used simply as takedowns.
unfortunately there is no confinement or squeezing to speak of at all.
