movie mixed scissors scenes by dmg Derailed 2002 STARRING: Jean-Claude Van Damme Laura Harring Tomas Arana Lucy Jenner ACCESS: it just hit the video stores! GENERAL DESCRIPTION: a high tech thief steals a deadly biological weapon from a European laboratory. JCVD is the spy sent to escort her and her dangerous cargo past the police, soldiers, and brutal mercenaries bent on retrieving it. by the way, some of the plot twists in this one will leave you scratching your head, but there is plenty of mixed fighting action. SCISSORS SCENE: the train that Jacques (JCVD) and Galina (Laura Harring) are traveling on has been commandeered by a band of mercenaries who have gathered everyone except Galina into the main car. using her skills as a circus acrobat she had avoided them by slithering up into an overhead ventilation system. she nimbly drops down into a darkened room which she thought was empty. she is dressed in tight black pants and a black top. an armed man also dressed in black confronts her. he spins her around and then overconfidently begins checkng out her body. she stamps down hard on his foot and nails him with an elbow to the face. he drops the gun as she spins to face him but he lowers his head and buries it in her stomach as he tackles her to the ground. he ends up in a kneeling position as she lies on her back before him. a split second after hitting the ground she snakes her lower body up and wraps her legs around his neck. his neck is caught high between her thighs and his face clearly shows his surprise at this sudden reversal of fortune. she locks one booted leg under her other knee, applying a classic figure four head scissors. he can do little about his predicament, and gasps out loud as she applies pressure. he tries to do something with his left arm but she simply grabs his wrist. a second later he lets out another gasp and seems to be sinking fast when she sees his discarded gun. she picks it up with her free hand, places it against his side, and kills him with one well placed bullet. there's no doubt that, had the handgun not been available, she was well on her way to squeezing the life out of her helpless victim. he just could not have survived much longer in her pythonic embrace. POSITIVES: this may be debatable, but Laura Elena Harring could be the most beautiful scissorer of all time. (just barely nosing out Paige Turco, imho) her grip is expertly applied and it's well acted on both ends despite the relative lack of resistance on her opponent's part. (can you blame him? She looks like Catherine Zeta-Jones, for crying out loud! i would love to spend some time in her scissors.) NEGATIVES: well, it's a partially darkened room and they are both dressed totally in black. fortunately this is not as big a draw back as it could have been. there is just enough light to see them both clearly. the only visual problem is when they show her locking up her legs behind his neck. it is very difficult to see how she is doing it. as usual it was too short. the actual scissors is on him for about 12 seconds. why in the world did she have to find that gun? i think we all would much have preferred to see her slowly, carefully asphyxiate her victim.
