movie mixed scissors scenes by dmg Red Skies 2002 STARRING: Shawn Christian Vivian Wu Kadeem Hardison Pauley Perrette ACCESS: this was a made for cable movie produced by John Woo for the USA network. it's obvious that there are plans for a series or, at the very least, a sequel. GENERAL DESCRIPTION: this movie has a pretty standard cops & robbers plot but also features two incredible female characters with superior fighting abilities and attitudes to match. Colonel Wen Lee (Vivian Wu) is a Chinese military police officer who is in hot pursuit of a master criminal who killed her partner and fled to the U.S. she has many incredible fighting scenes in the movie, including one where she shreds 6-7 male bodyguards on her way to arrest her quarry. the only one who is able to put up a fight against her is Miss Pierson (Pauley Perrette-last seen playing Alice on USA's series Special Unit 2) here she and her mother lead a well organized gang of thugs. both are utterly ruthless. SCISSORS SCENE: as the scene opens with a view of the city we hear a woman patiently explaining how percentages are supposed to work. the camera shifts to the inside of a bar-restaurant where we see that the lady who is speaking is lying on a bar. she has short curly blonde hair (reminding me of a young Melanie Griffith btw). she is wearing a dress which is doing little to hide two long, shapely bare legs ending in a pair of dangerous stiletto heels. her left leg is straight out along the bar, and her right is bent at the knee, with her right foot pushing down on the head of a suffering male whose neck is pressed down against her lower leg. also note that while she is holding his head with the top part of her right foot, the stiletto heel on the lower part of that foot is poised to drive thru his temple at any moment. the young enforcer continues to patronizingly lecture the helpless male of the danger of trying to skim money from the mob as another man arrives and yells, "what's going on?" when he moves toward her she tosses a notebook in his face, swings her long legs off the bar, and kicks him in the face in the process. she then lands a spinning kick whch sends him tumbling backward over a liquor cart and through a thin wall. the man who had so recently been her helpless prisoner rushes at her and tries to club her with a bottle of wine. she easily parries his blow and twists him about so his own right arm is around his neck. with one hand she holds him in this positon as she examines the wine bottle in his hand. she comments on it's vintage and how expensive it is as she continues her warning for him to stop stealing. her cell phone rings and she answers it, "hi mom" while still choking the man with his own arm. when her mother asks what she is doing she replies, "i'm just balancing the books!" POSITIVES: what can i say? good looking lady, with possibly the most attitude ever in a scissors scene. she is so in control of the situation that she doesn't even get angry at the man's pathetic attempt to fight her. she punishes him like a school teacher disciplning a rebellious student, toying with him like a cat with a mouse. also the dialogue and acting here are outstanding. attitude, attitude, attitude. NEGATIVES: as always, too short. the actual scissoring time is only about 7-8 seconds but it's balanced by a truckload of (did i say this already) attitude! OVERALL RATING: ***
