movie mixed scissors scene by dmg Sisters In Law 1992 Also listed in some quarters as "Jacky And Mary" STARRING: Sandra Ng Charine Chan Catherine Hung Louise Lee Ken Tong ACCESS: video only GENERAL DESCRIPTION: this is a buddy movie about two female HK cops on the trail of an arch criminal. it's uneven and fluctuates from light comedy to very heavy melodrama. there is actually not a great deal of fighting in the movie at all. most of the conflicts are resolved in shootouts. SCISSORS SCENE: Jacky and Mary have just caught up with a reluctant witness and his girlfriend in an amusement park which is closed for the night. the big boss shows up with about a dozen armed men and a wild gunfight follows. at one point the witness winds up in a fight with the big boss. after shooting each other the battle become hand to hand. they crash through several stands and windows. the witness, although badly wounded, manages to pick up a long chard of jagged glass and slash the big boss with it twice. he sits on the boss's stomach and raises the weapon above his head, about to deal a death blow. Jacky unseats him with a flying tackle and restrains him. she applies a tight side bodyscissors while she grabs his hand with the jagged glass in it. she also wraps her left arm around his neck, controlling him completely. he tries to escape but is held tightly, and he pleads with her to let him go, saying that he has to kill the boss. she tries in vain to calm him down, even telling him that homocide is a serious crime! for about ten seconds he squirms in her grip. his yelling and screaming becoming more and more hysterical. with all the struggling Jacky winds up holding hm from behind as Mary and the man's girlfriend show up. the girlfriend manages to calm him down as Mary arrests the boss and Jacky can finally release the man from her grip. POSITIVES: great length for a scissors scene! good lighting (this all takes place in front of a brightly lit merry-go-round.) good looking lady with great energy and a truly excellent setup, as well as a fine job of struggling from the "victim". NEGATIVE: it's a big one, camerawork. in spite of all the good things i've mentioned, there is not one good full body frame of her holding him in the scissors. the entire scene is shot from his waist up. we see the top part of her leg wrapped around his waist. we see him look down at her leg as he tries to wiggle his body free of her, but no really clear shot of the scissors. it could have been so much better. OVERALL RATING: **
