Diamonds Are Forever

ACCESS: video/also shown on TBS on a regular basis with other James Bond
movies.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION: the usual James Bond fare. James has to stop master
criminal Blofeld who is planning world domination and there are guns, girls,
and gadgets galore!

SCISSORS SCENE:James is looking to rescue a kidnapped Jimmy Dean (that's the
sausage guy, not James Dean). he goes to the house where he is being held and
walks into a huge living room that has all sorts of gym equiptment as well as
furniture. instead of armed guards he meets Bambi & Thumper, a pair of fit
female gymnasts. as he is chauvanistically eyeing up thumper she attacks him
with a knee to the groin. they take turns kicking and flipping him about and,
at one point, bambi nimbly swings up onto a trapeze bar that is hanging from
the ceiling. thumper pushes james her way and she nails him with a kick in the
face as she swings in her perch. thumper attacks again and this time when she
pushes him close enough bambi traps him in a powerful headscissors. we see his
face reddening as she genuinely appears to be punishing him. he squirms and
pries at her squeezing legs but can't escape. it is only when thumper lands a
powerful kick to his midsection that he is freed. he is shaken and staggering
and they land a double drop-kick which sends him off a balcony into a pool.
they dive in after him and start to drown him but, in a contrived ending, he
suddenly is able to hold both of their heads underwater simultaneously.

POSITIVES: the two ladies were way ahead of their time. when this movie was
made (early 60's) the words women and fitness had not even been put together
yet. very realistic scissoring, looks painful. also the setup and camera work
were great. they linger on a shot that shows her concentrating on squeezing
with a smile on her face while he is prying at her thighs with no success.
they also show thumper looking on with great interest, taking enjoyment from
his predicament.

NEGATIVES: the ending of the fight was a bit hard to swallow. they win 99% of
the fight and then he just beats them both at once with ease. i guess you have
to remember that it is a james bond movie. they had to let him win.
