Bio-Terror By Robert Morrison A rogue experiment causes terror in a local hospital, but has enhancing results! The man paced across the floor. The tap of his sole hitting the marble floor echoed in the halls. He adjusted his tie and rounded a corner. The thing reached out. Its green hand wrapped around the neck of the man. He gurgled. The thing made a simple muscle movement in its hand and sharp claws dug into the man's neck. Blood trickled down, and the man's struggling ceased. The thing threw away the lifeless corpse. Its fanged mouth smiled. its green-blotched body was repulsive. The thing looked through a window in a door. There were no bodies in this room. It smashed the door open. Splinters flew through the air. The thing walked through. A wave of tiredness washed over it, and it slumped. It trotted over to the bed and lay down. The green skin and warts bubbled and melted. The skin dissipated in the air. The body of a female remained, naked and motionless on the bed. Her build was petite, and long, curled brown hair caressed her small shoulders. Her body took shallow breaths. Her eyes flickered open. "Aiee!", she screamed. She bolted upright in the bed. Her scream increased in pitch. The nurse ran in. She moved to the woman and applied a sedative. The woman slouched, and fell unconscious. An hour later, Dan stepped through the door. Dan was a tall and well- built man with black hair and blue eyes. He walked over to the woman, who was now dressed in a hospital gown. He brushed her hair with his hand, touched her hand, and she regained consciousness. "Wake up, Kate!", said Dan, "Who ever knew that gardening accident would lead to this?" Katey, as Dan knew, had received a rose from a relative in Europe, and had stubbed her thumb on a thorn. The thorn had stuck into her thumb, and had caused a severe infection. She smiled at him. He was handsome, witty and available. She planned to propose to him. "Thank you for coming, Dan!", she replied. "No problem! I always help out the weaker sex!" Dan had hit a hot spot. Katey fumed a bit. "Take that back, Dan!" "Come on, Katey! Look at yourself! You're definitely weaker!" She grabbed his left arm. The change occurred again. Her bone structure changed, and the green, blotched skin covered her body. She gripped his arm with greater strength and pulled. He screamed in agony as blood poured from his arm socket, his arm removed. The nurse entered the room. She froze. The thing looked towards her. A needle-like projectile shot from its head and hit the nurse's abdomen. The nurse's bones mutated, and green-skin covered her. The original thing dissipated off of Katey, and the new thing was fully-formed. It roared and bolted from the room. Katey slumped in the bed. When she woke up, she found she was strapped down. She was in a laboratory. Beakers, Bunsen burners and technical equipment lined the room. To her right was a bald-headed man in a lab-coat with glasses. He held a clip-board. "You seem to be recovering from the effects of the parasitic life form.", he said. Kate struggled, but could not release herself. "Katey Forester, 5'4", 125lbs., no allergies, no special medical conditions, maximum lift 100lbs. in optimum conditions, small muscularity, perfect test subject.", he read off her file. "Doc, just get me out of these damn straps!" "Just after a shot." The doctor went over to a table. he took a hypodermic needle and filled it with a container marked 'Aroline Nitrate Sunasan 454'. He walked over to Katey, needle and swab in hand. He swabbed Katey's arm and inserted the needle, just under the skin. He then went over to a computer, and started to type on it. Ten minutes later, the doctor was still typing. Katey lay still as the chemical worked through her blood stream. Then, some changes started. Katey heard the straps beginning to stretch. She looked down to see what was occurring. Her arms and chest were expanding. Katey could now feel her legs had lengthened and widened to. A cluster of muscles rippled on her abdomen. Delts, lats and pecs increased in size. "Nooo!", she screamed, but the changes happened. The doctor laughed. Soon, the straps could take no more. They busted loose like a bat out of hell, and Katey sat up. She looked at her body and let out a cry. The gown had torn and covered-up little. The doctor turned to her, still laughing. "It worked! Ha-ha-ha-ha!" He clasped his hands. Katey gave him a hurt look. "You...", she began, "You did this to me? Why!? Why!?" She emitted a howl of rage, and started to hit the doctor. "No...", he started, but a fist to the chin knocked him cold. He fell back. Katey ran around the room. She stopped, seeing another needle and bottle labeled 'Aroline Nitrate Sunasan 454'. She calmed down. She took the bottle and transferred its contents to the hypodermic needle. She found a tote bag. She put the needle carefully into this. She then went over to the computer. She removed the micro-floppy in the drive and put it in the tote. She took a metal rod from a piece of scientific apparatus, and smashed the computer. She smashed the mother-board and the hard-drive. "Hard Copy," Katey muttered to herself, and walked over to a filing cabinet. She forced open the top drawer, and flipped through the file-folders. She pulled out a file marked 'Aroline Nitrate Sunasan 454'. She put this in the bag. She then sat down, and viewed the contents of the bag. Along with what she just put in was a towel, some shampoo, a hairbrush, a make-up kit and a bikini. She took out the bikini, and gave it a doubtful glare. "Well," she said, "it's better than what I have on now! What a cruel twist of Fate!" She donned the swimming piece and left the torn gown behind. She walked out into the hall. The hospital was almost entirely empty. She paced down the hallway, and rounded a corner. She stared, startled. On the floor was Dan's body, healed up, but unconscious. His arm socket was bandaged. She knelt, and tried to wake him. "Kate," he said softly, "is that you?" "Yes, its me!", she replied. Dan's vision returned, and he looked at his girlfriend. He looked over her new physique. "What happened?!", he asked, then added, "You look great!" "Well this mad scientist... ", she started, but said, "what did you say?!" "I said," he replied, "you look great!" "You're saying that out of pity!" "No, I mean it, Katey! I only really liked your face and your personality before, but now you add a great bonus to the package deal. You're as powerful as me now!" He clasped her hand with his one hand and kissed her. "You can tell me how it happened, later!", Dan started, "Right now..." A roar erupted. Both Katey and Dan turned to see what it was. The thing had returned. Its gaping jaw protruded. Its claws were retracted. It made a noise that hunters make when closing in on the prey. Katey snapped up and moved towards the thing. Something inside of her new self made her more confident, braver, bolder. Katey punched the thing, instinctively. The thing grappled her. They were locked, arm to arm. Katey was losing strength, and the thing knew it, as it smiled mockingly. "Dan," she shouted through clenched teach, "Get the needle from that tote bag and stab this thing with it!" Dan had not been paying much attention up until this point. He was still spellbound, admiring Katey's superior physique. He watched her bulging muscles flex as she struggled. He snapped out of the phase and looked through the tote bag. He found the needle and raced towards the thing, nearly losing balance. Katey was about to collapse from exhaustion, when Dan struck the thing in the leg. The thing screamed, releasing its grip, and fell over, backwards. it fell unconscious, and the skin began, slowly, to peel away. Katey sat down, panting. "Thanks, Dan!", she said, "You saved my life!" "We're even!" They held each other for many long minutes. The nurse regained consciousness after all the skin dissipated. Her uniform was tattered from her huge, bulging muscles. She looked at her new body and saw the difference. "Well," she said, laughing, "its better than being a monster!" The couple stood up, and smiled at the nurse. The thing's essence floated into an air vent. It traveled and came to a grate. It flowed through and touched the body laying unconscious on the floor. The body changed into the thing. The thing selected a wall, and crashed through it. It fell down ten floors, got up, and stalked into the darkness. The jeep pulled up to the tan-bricked house. The nurse got out. "Thanks for the ride!", she said. "Call us regularly!", replied Katey, who was at the wheel, "We need to keep in touch!" "No problem!", said the nurse, "Here's my number. We'll probably have to go shopping together at a big and tall clothes store, anyways!" They laughed, and the nurse handed over a slip of paper marked 'Claire DuPoint, 468-7485'. They exchanged good-byes, and the jeep pulled away as Claire walked to her house, through the night. A couple of months later, Dan was sitting on a couch in his living room. He was reading some information on his new arm. It had cost him a lot, but it was a first in the field of bionics. An artificial circulatory system and heat production was its main features. Artificial, realistic plastic skin covered it. Katey's head beckoned around the doorway. Her face was tanned, her hair was permed and her neck was bare, save a tied bit of pink line. "Ready or not, handsome," she said seductively, "here I come!" Katey came through the doorway. Her buxom, muscular body was oiled and tanned. She was wearing a neon pink posing suit. She showed off her muscles in various poses; her biceps, triceps, delts, lats, pecs and the rest of her athletic body. "Come here!", he commanded. She walked over to him, sat down, and placed her arms around him. They embraced. "I've got something for you!", he said, as he reached down, beside the couch. He pulled out a small, velvet-covered box. He opened it and took out a diamond- clustered ring. He got on his knees, held her hand and put the ring on her finger. "Will you marry me, Katey?" "Yes!", Katey said, crying, "Yes, I will!" The two embraced. TO BE CONTINUED?
