Susie's challenge  Part 2

Susie takes on the wrestleing team of Fremont high - by herself.

This story is a sequel to ' Susie's challenge'.

It has been two months since Susie beat Steve in their private
wrestleing match.
In that time she and Steve became very good friends.She was accepted by
the
boys on the wrestleing team and - with her in the middleweight  division
- the team
began to do very well.They actually had a chance to capture the State
title.What's
more,Susie's life seemed to be gliding along.She had a
boyfriend(Steve),a circle
of friends(the boys on the wrestleing team and their girlfriends)and no
longer felt
like an outsider;moving from place to place as her father's company
transfered him
from one location to another.Their biggest match of the year loomed
before them;the
clash with Fremont high - the defending champions.With Susie on the
team,they had
a good chance to win.A few days before the big match the boys on the
team decided
to all go out to dinner together.Naturally Susie was invited to join
them.She declined
because she wanted to study for an important test - she wished to
maintain her "A"
average in school."Have a good time with the guys and thanks for
inviting me"she said
to Steve as she kissed him.That they did;unfortunately something in the
food wasn't
quite right.The next day,all of the boys came down with food
poisoning.They would be
lucky if they could walk by Thursday - much less wrestle.A forfeit
seemed inevitable.

Susie sat next to Steve as he lay in his bed.He was depressed.He'd been
looking
forward to this match with Fremont for weeks.Their heavyweight wrestler
was
considered to be the best in the state;one of the best in the country -
someone Steve
really wanted to test himself against.He also felt bad for the school -
a forfeit might cost
the team their shot at making the State finals."I guess we'll have to
throw in the
towel " Steve said to her; "none of the guys will be ready by tomorrow
".Susie thought
for a minute."Steve" she said,"there is another option ". "What's that
?" he asked her.
"Well" she began,"I'm healthy. I can wrestle in my division - the
middleweight - and
the two heavier ones;the light heavyweight and heavyweight.If I win all
three,it will
make up for the lightweight and welterweight matches we'll have to
forfeit.We can still
win ".Steve looked at her.Ever since she beat him in their
match(destroyed him would
be a better word for it)he liked to call her 'supergirl';not only
because she was a great
wrestler but ,with her pretty face and beautiful blond hair,she really
did resemble the
comic book superheroine.Could she really beat the three best wrestlers
of Fremont
high? "I'm pretty sure I can ", she told him rather casually."The
problem is:how do you
think our guys would react to me if I won the meet all by myself ?" She
had a point.While
they accepted her as one of them,their reaction might very well be
different if she proved
to be so much better as to make them feel inferior.If she beat the best
wrestleing team in
the state -  by herself -  they could resent her ; and that she
certainly did not want.Steve
and Susie thought it over for awhile and decided to call a team meeting
and let the boys
decide - it was only fair.

As the four boys gathered around a table,Steve - the team captain -
explained the
situation.Susie sat off to the side,not intending to take part in the
discussion."So that's
where it stands guys.Susie insists that,unless we all agree,she won't
wrestle".One of the
boys - Jim,the lightweight on the team , turned to Susie and asked "if
you're that good,
then why do you care what we think ?" It was a fair question,and
deserved a serious
answer.Susie approached the table and began to speak softly."I am an
only child.For
most of my life,I have been moving from place to place as my father - an
important
executive with a large firm  - moved around the country.My mother is his
private
secretary,so I basically grew up by myself.Do you know what it's like to
move into a
new neighborhood,a new school where you don't know anybody? I've done
this a dozen
times;it sucks.Kids hang out in clicks and I was always a loner.I had no
friends.The
only thing I liked to do was lift weights and study martial
arts.Wrestleing was sort of my
revenge against the world.I enjoyed beating the guys - they wouldn't
like me anyway so
why should I care.Then I came here.First I beat that arrogant Ron out of
his middleweight
spot.But after I beat Steve,his reaction was so different,so.......nice
that I decided to remain
a middleweight so he could remain on the team.We became friends - all of
us.We double,
triple,even quadrupple date together.For the first time in my life,I
have friends.For the first
time in my life,I feel like I belong;and there's no way that I'm going
to jeopardize all of this
over a silly wrestleing match.You guys mean much more to me than that ".

When Susie finished speaking the four boys looked at each other.Then Jim
got up and said,
"Susie,I think I speak for all of us when I say that we'd be very proud
to have you wrestle the
Fremont high school wrestleing team on our behalf.So go out and kick
some ass".When Susie
heard this she smiled and,to show her appreciation,kissed each of the
boys."Thanks a lot
guys - this means  much more to me than you could ever imagine".

THE MATCH

The crowd began to file in early.It was obviously going to be a full
house.Ever since Susie
began to wrestle on the team,their attendance improved.But tonight was
something special.
Everyone had heard about the food poisoning incident and they all knew
that Susie was
going to try to defeat Fremont high by herself.It became a media
event.Steve even did
something that Susie would never forget - he convinced her parents to
come....and didn't
tell her.As the packed gymnasium waited,the three boys from Fremont
walked out.Jeff,the
middleweight, would be the first to face Susie.As he approached her,he
smiled and said,
"it's a shame that all of these people had to come out for this one
match.After I beat you,
the'll all have to go home - what a waist of time".Susie didn't say
anything - she prefered
to let her wrestleing speak for her.Under normal circumstances she might
have fought an
extended match - to teach him a lesson... slowly.But because she had to
fight three tough
opponents one after the other she decided to go for a quick kill.As the
match began,Susie
charged with everything she had.She knocked him over and easily rolled
him onto his back.
She then fell on him with a schoolgirl pin. 1 - 2 - 3 he was out.Susie
did not believe in trash
talking.She felt it was both undignified and immature.But because of his
arrogance,she felt
a little dig was in order.As the stunned boy got up,Susie patted him on
the behind and said
in her cutest voice "great match,Jeff ".He had lasted only  twelve
seconds.

John,the 185 pound light heavyweight wrestler,would be her next
opponent.He was strong and
muscular - considered a very good wrestler.He had also seen how easily
Susie had destroyed
Jeff - so he knew what to expect.......sort of.Susie would have liked to
have taken her time with
him too,but she knew she'd better conserve her strength for her
heavyweight battle ; so again
she tried for a quick,decisive victory.Although he outweighted her by
forty pounds,her strenght
and speed was much greater than his.She easily out maneuvered him and
pinned him in just
forty - five seconds.As he looked up at her,all he could say was "Boy -
your a great wrestler ".
"Thanks",she smiled down at him - no trash talking was necessary this
time(she even helped
him up).Two down - one to go.

Susie went over to Steve and kissed him.The crowd cheered wildly.From
out in the stands two
voices rang out,"way to go,Susie".She looked up....and nearly
cried.....it was her parents.For as
long as she could remember,they never seemed to give a damn about
anything she did;and now
they were here.She looked at Steve - he simply smiled at her and said "
go get him supergirl".
"I will " she said "I will".She kissed him again and returned to the
matter at hand.

Bill Walker stepped onto to mats.At six foot- five inches and 290 pounds
he dwarfed Susie's
five - foot seven inch 145 pound frame.He was also undefeated in
competative wrestleing.
Any other wrestler would have been afraid to face him...but not
Susie.She had every reason
to want this.Her boyfriend,her teamates,her school,and now.....her
parents.As she took to the
mats against  Bill,she didn't just think she could win...she knew
it.Tonight,she would actually
be 'supergirl'.As the two wrestlers faced each other,the gym grew
quiet.Susie moved first,and
grabbed his powerful right arm with both of hers and - in a lightning
quick move - threw him on
the mat.She jumped on top of him and grabbed him around the neck in a
headlock.He put his
two hands around her one and,with great difficultly,managed to pry her
arm off.Before he could
completely recover,though,she was on him again.This time Susie wrapped
her powerful legs
around Bill's waist and squeezed.It took almost everything he had to
break her sissor hold.He
was weakening.Susie,if anything,was getting stronger.She was so quick,so
strong;tonight,she
was invincible.The only tactic Bill had left was to reach the outside of
the mats - there he would
be safe.But Susie would have none of it.Grabbing him by the legs she
dragged him back to the
center of the ring and fell on his back.She wanted a pin though - a
complete victory to cap a
glorious night.Susie used all of her remaining strenght to roll the
mighty Bill Walker onto his
back and then fell on him .......pinning him.1 - 2 - 3.He was out.Susie
did it;singlehandly she
beat the State champion wrestleing team.Steve,her team,her parents  -
all rushed out to
congradulate her.They lifted her onto their sholders and carried the
victorious girl around the
gymnasium.It was quite a night...quite a night indeed.
