Greta, The Mighty Amazon Warrior: Part 8 by M.C. Like Samson and Achilles, the powerful Greta has one weakness. After all of the excitement at the castle, Greta looked forward a nice, quiet ride to Jason's village where Constance was to be married the following day. After all, even an Amazon Warrior needs some down time every once in a while. Riding on her large steed with Jason sitting behind her, his arms snugly around her waist (Constance rode on the other horse), Greta could think of worse ways to spend a few idle days. Jason, despite his earlier apprehensions about spending the rest of his life with this incredible woman - a woman so powerful that she could defeat a small army of men singlehandedly (not to mention a huge giant and two crocodiles) - now felt as if he had died and gone to heaven. Sitting behind this gorgeous Amazon with his arms wrapped tightly around her sturdy waist, his head resting on her massive back and her long, beautiful brown hair flowing all over him as they rode, was a very erotic experience; a fact that wasn't lost on Greta. "Jason dear," she giggled,"I suggest you reign in that little steed of yours for the time being. We have a rather long ride ahead of us and we can't dilly-dally, or else Constance will be late for her wedding." Jason looked over at his sister who was laughing hysterically. He was so embarrassed. They rode on for another hour before Greta decided it was time to rest the horses and have lunch. As they sat down to eat, Jason looked over at the large, muscular woman. "Why do you Amazons like to dominiate and humiliate men?" It was a question he'd been wanting to put to her for some time now but couldn't get up the courage to do so. When he saw the surprised expression on Greta's face, Jason beat a hasty retreat. "I'm sorry," he said meekly,"I shouldn't have asked you a question like that; not after all you've done for me." After thinking it over for a few moments, Greta smiled."That's all right Jason. It was a fair question and you had every right to ask; after all, you are going to become my husband aren't you?" (she felt a great warmth inside of her when he nodded)."Good. Then I want you to feel free to ask me any question you like, anything at all. You're never to be afraid of me or intimidated by me again. Is that clear?" "Yes Greta." "O.K. then; now back to your question. All Amazons are brought up to believe that we are superior to men - it's been that way for as far back as anyone can remember. And can I offer you any better proof of this than what a single Amazon warrior accomplished last night (wink). Since Amazonian women are superior to men, we believe it's their duty to serve us. We only dominiate and humiliate those who take up arms against us or refuse to submit to our will. But the men who accept our superiority are treated well; just as long as they know their place and stay there. Now, I won't deny that there are some Amazons, particularly the younger ones, who do mistreat their men. But they are the exceptions, not the rule. Most of us have developed a compassion for the weaker sex; once they have been brought to heel." Greta sighed to herself when she saw the puzzled look on Jason's face. "Tell me this Jason, is it any different from the way most men treat the women in your society? Because the males are more powerful than the females, they rule over them with an iron hand, don't they? (Greta saw Constance nod her head in agreement). We're constantly hearing about this from women who were abused by their husbands and ran away from home. Occasionally they make their way to our territory and we accept them as sisters. Because strong and powerful women threaten their fragile egos, most men are afraid of Amazons. I believe this is why they're always sending their armies out to conquer us. Only by subduing the Amazons can men feel secure in their chauvanistic philosophy. "But as long as we remain strong and true to our ideals - the superiority of the female - we can never be conquered. It's only when females submit themselves to males that they allow men to gain control over them; that they lose their freedom. We Amazons are free because we're strong." Greta looked over at Constance and smiled...and Constance smiled back. Their lunch finished, the horses rested, the three travelers mounted their steeds and resumed their journey. But the conversation continued as they rode. "Men always make excuses after we've beaten them in battle," Greta laughed,"and after 15 years I must have heard just about every one of them. Many men actually believe Amazons remove one of their breasts in order to be able to shoot the bow more accurately. Jason, you've seen me naked a few times; are they both there?" "Hmmm...let's see." Jason moved his hands up from Greta's waist to her massive, 48 inch breasts; feeling each one longer than he probably needed to in order to answer her question."Yes Greta, they both appear to be in their proper places." "Gee Jason, are you absolutely sure? Maybe you'd like to do some more research (giggles)." A moment later Greta brought her horse to a standstill. She reached down and grabbed her bow that was strapped to the side of the horse's neck. Taking out an arrow from the quiver, Greta looked around for a suitable target. When she found one, the Amazon warrior drew back her bow and let the arrow fly. "Smack!" It landed dead center in a tree that must have been at least fifty yards away. "Great shot Greta!" Jason shouted. "Thanks honey. But that wasn't my shot; that was just my target for the next one." She pulled out another arrow, placed it in her bow and drew it back. After a few seconds of concentration, Greta let the second arrow fly. Jason and Constance both dropped their jaws as they watched the second arrow split the first one in half. "Just think of how good I'd be if I removed one of my breasts; tee, hee, hee." She returned her bow to it's place and they continued on their way. In the late afternoon Greta decided it was time to stop and make camp for the night. They were only a few hours from their destiniation now and, with darkness coming on, she felt it best to spend the night here. It was a beautiful spot near a small stream and they weren't in any hurry. Greta was actually enjoying being alone with Jason and Constance. With them, she was neither a feared warrior nor the commander of an army; she was simply Greta, a woman out for a ride with two friends. It was a rare experience for her, an experience she was enjoying very much. All her life the powerful woman had been trained to do two things: fight and lead. Daughter of Hilda, the Amazon Queen and heir apparent to the throne, Greta had been groomed from birth to replace her mother when Hilda felt she was ready to step aside - just as Hilda had replaced her mother before her. Mother to daughter, mother to daughter...the Amazon dynasty had continued unbroken for centuries. Greta knew it would be her turn to rule soon; it was inevitable. Upon her strong and able shoulders would rest the fate of the Amazon nation - the only place on Earth where women were completely free and in control of their destinies. Perhaps it was knowing this that led Greta to go off on her escapade. After all, as commander of the Amazon army she could easily have ordered a small force of women to take the castle and release Jason's sister from captivity. Why then did she take on the task all by herself? Was it to have one last fling? Having comprehensively beaten back all the armies that the men sent against her, was she starved for action? Or was it to impress Jason? And what is this strange attraction she has for this simple farmer? Her mother married a general; her grandmother, a prince (after her army had utterly destroyed the invading force that a neighboring king had sent against the Amazons. The king was too old for her but his son was young and handsome so Greta's grandmother took him instead). So why Jason? It's something Greta would have to think about. "We'll camp here by the stream for the night," the large woman said as she dismounted and then helped her lover down. "Jason, you and Constance gather some wood and start a fire. I'll be back in a little while with our dinner." Greta grabbed her bow and removed two more arrows from the quiver; then she disappeared into the forest. True to her word, the Amazon soon returned with two dead rabbits slung over her shoulder. They skinned, cooked and ate the delicacy; all the while engaging in conversation. Greta's bringing back the rabbits prompted Jason to recall the first time he went hunting with his father. He was just thirteen years old and felt very sad when he killed a rabbit. Constance then described how she and her mother skinned that rabbit and cooked it for dinner in honor of his kill. This story prompted Greta to describe her first hunting experience... There was a large black bear attacking a flock of Amazon sheep. Hilda, Greta's mother and the Amazon Queen, decided this would be a good opportunity to take her young daughter out for a mother/daughter hunting experience. She took Greta - who was also only thirteen years old at the time - and went hunting. "Greta," her mother said,"I'm going to let you slay this beast. My role will only be to support you should the need arise." They set up a lookout post near where the sheep were grazing and waited. Later that night Greta's keen sense of hearing picked up the sound of a large animal approaching. "I think he's coming mother." "Yes daughter, I hear him too." Greta picked up her bow but took only one arrow with her; her mother noticed but said nothing. They followed the sound to a field where the sheep were sleeping. In the darkness, the young Amazon girl spotted a large creature moving towards the unsuspecting flock. She placed the arrow into the bowstring, pulled it back and..."TWANG!" Greta's aim was perfect, but unfortunately it takes more than one arrow to bring down a large bear. The young girl reached back for another arrow, then realized she didn't have any. "What should I do now?" Hilda did not respond immediately - she wanted to see if her daughter would figure it out by herself. After watching the wounded animal dance around for a minute Geta shouted," I know what to do mother!" Without another moment's hesitation, the young girl took out her long, sharp knife from it's sheath and began running towards the bear. She leaped up high and landed on the wounded animal's upper back. Reaching around with her knife, Greta deftly cut the bear's trachea. A few seconds later the fierce creature lay dead at her feet; slain by a thirteen year-old girl. In celebration of her courage, Hilda held a large feast in her daughter's honor; the main course of which was bear meat..."and I still have the bear's hide at home," Greta laughed,"I use it for a floor rug in the wintertime." "You're incredible Greta!" Constance exclaimed,"but weren't you afraid? I mean, you were so young." "An Amazon warrior is never supposed to show any sign of fear. But to tell you the truth, yes, I was afraid. But there was no way I was going to let my mother know that. I wanted so much to impress her; to make her proud of me. I wanted to show her that I too could be a great warrior, just like she is - and that desire was far stronger than my fear." Greta noticed that Jason had gotten up and was standing off to the side by himself. It was then that she realized what she had just done. When Jason was thirteen he killed a rabbit; when Greta was thirteen, she killed a bear. The powerful woman got up and walked over to him."I'm so sorry Jason," she said softly,"I didn't mean it. I - I just wasn't thinking. Forgive me Jason." "It's all right Greta. You have every right to be proud of who you are and what you can do. Last night you wiped out a small army of men, destroyed a huge giant and killed two crocodiles; all by yourself. My sister's quite correct, you are indeed incredible. I have to ask you this though. Why do you want me? You can have anybody and anything you want; who can possibly stop you? You're Greta, the invincible Amazon warrior. I saw how they all cheered you in the arena; thousands, chanting your name (see part one of this series). And what am I? A farmer, a simple farmer. What exactly do you see in me Greta?" The Amazon warrior thought for a minute, then took Jason by the hand. "Come honey, let's take a walk along the stream." They walked for awhile in silence, each lost in their own thoughts. Finally, Greta turned and faced her lover. "Yes, when I was thirteen years old I killed a bear and you killed a rabbit. Yes, I took out a gang of thugs, a giant and a couple of crocodiles last night; and yes, I've never been defeated, either in battle or the combat arena. And yes Jason, I love you. You're the man I want to spend the rest of my life with. Why? I'm not exactly sure. Maybe it was the fear you showed before I fought you and your six friends in the area that day. They were so confident that they would overpower me, but you seemed to know you wouldn't, and you were afraid. Maybe it's because..." Greta stopped talking and turned her head away from Jason. A long peroid of silence followed. Jason then saw something in the eyes of this mighty woman that he thought he'd never see...he saw tears. When she noticed he was watching her, Greta just smiled."Amazon warriors are forbidden to cry Jason. It's considered a sign of weakness, and we're never supposed to appear weak; least of all before a man. Do you know why I'm crying? Because I just figured out why I'm so attracted to you. It's because you remind me so much of Alex...my twin brother." "Your brother? But I thought..." "Don't say it Jason!" she cut him off sharply,"please, don't ever say it. Of all the myths men have of Amazons, this is the most insidious - that we murder our male offspring. It's simply not true." Greta paused again. "But what is true is that once they've reached five years of age they are removed to a different part of our country and raised seperately from the females; and we're never supposed to see them again." "Why?" "I'm not exactly sure why. All I know is that it's always been that way. Perhaps it's so we don't get too attached to males since we'll probably have to kill them at some point. Slaves and servants are one thing; but a sibling, a brother, that's something else." "So you haven't seen your brother since he was five Greta?" "Well, I wasn't supposed to but... One day when I was around fourteen years old, they took some of the young Amazon trainees up to the far North of our country for special training. We were supposed to live off the land and fend for ourselves for a month. Well, one afternoon me and four other girls came across a group of about 15 boys around our age. They were clearing rocks out of a field in a small farming village before planting. Being Amazon girls, we decided to have some fun at their expense. So we attacked them and began beating them all up. I saw one of the boys trying to run away so I ran after him. I easily caught up to him and threw him to the ground. I pinned him down, cocked back my fist and was about to punch out his lights when I saw something very, very familiar. Looking up at me, shaking with fear, I saw myself. It was Alex, my twin brother." "What did you do?" "Nothing. I couldn't hit him, but I couldn't tell him either. I wasn't even supposed to ever see him again. But there he was, beneath me; shaking with fear. I just helped him to his feet. I wanted to apologise to him, to tell him who I was...to kiss him. But Amazons are never supposed to show weakness; so I just let him go. He looked at me for a few moments and then ran away...scared of his own sister." Jason stood there and watched as the tears fell down Greta's beautiful face. "Have you seen him since?" Greta sighed. "Yes, I have. Occasionally my duties send me up to that part of the country. When I'm near-by, I'll go and sneek a peek. He married a girl from his village (not all females who reside in Amazon territory are Amazons. Many are just normal women and live normal lives - except their husbands treat them much, much better..or else). My own brother is married and has two sons, and I can't even see them." Greta looked at Jason and smiled; she didn't even bother to wipe the tears from her eyes."Jason, you're that brother, the one I can never have. I realize that now. You're about the same height as he is and look very similar to him. That's why I love you Jason. That's why I fell in love with you the moment I first saw you in the combat arena. You were afraid of me, just like my brother was that day. Please don't run away from me like he did. I may be the invincible Amazon warrior to everyone else, but to you I just want to be Greta; your wife and protector." A long embrace followed, then Greta and Jason slowly began walking back to their camp. End of part 8.
