The Clash of the Amazons by M.C. My girlfriend's back and you're gonna be in trouble, hey-la hey-la my girlfriend's back I suppose our high school is unusual in this respect. In most schools, if you want to find out who the roughest, toughest kids are; you'd look to the football players or wrestlers. We do have some tough ones of course; big and strong guys. But I think what makes our high school unique is that here, the two toughest students of all ... are girls. These aren't just any girls though. These two are like real live Amazons.  I should know; one of them is Cindy, my girlfriend. Both Cindy and Terry are large, very powerfully built 17 year-old girls. They both stand six feet - three inches tall and weigh around ( I must estimate here as I've never had the courage to ask Cindy how much she weighs ) 220 solidly packed and muscular pounds. Both have a reputation for being fierce fighters; Cindy when she has to be - Terry when she wants to be, which - in Terry's case - is quite often. Such is the respect that the other students have for them, that when they walk through the halls in school even the macho football players stand to the side to let them pass. There, however, the similarities  between them end. Cindy is a statuesque blond. She likes to wear her long beautiful hair straight down, almost to her waist and keeps it neatly brushed all of the time. A superb athlete, she holds the state high school records for both the javelin throw and shot put; her distances rival even those of her male counterparts. She's the star center of the women's basketball team and, in pick-up games against the men's team, sometimes puts them to shame. An honor student  with a great personality, Cindy is - despite her size and strength - one of the most popular girls in school; sometimes I wonder what she sees in me. Terry, on the other hand, is a tough biker girl. She drives to school in her Harley-Davidson motorcycle and has been known to beat up anybody who dares to touch it. She doesn't give a damn about her personal appearance, letting her scraggly black hair do whatever it wants. She enjoys intimidating people, even her teachers are afraid of her. The only one in school who isn't, is Cindy; and therein lies the problem. Though they've never fought one another there was a feeling that someday they would...and what a fight that would be.  Most of the students at school had a secret desire to see these two awesome amazons go at it. For her part, Cindy would have preferred to avoid such a confrontation; she didn't seek trouble, just never avoided it when it came. Terry actively sought it; indeed, she relished it.  Ironically, it was me who, inadvertently, was the catalyst that set it all off. It was Christmas vacation and we all had several weeks off from school. Cindy and her family spent the holidays in New York with her relatives. I stayed at home with my family. Towards the end of the vacation a friend of mine called me up and asked," can this possibly be true ? " " Can what possibly be true?" I asked, perplexed. " I heard that you've been running around with Terry while Cindy was away. Cindy's gonna kill you. You're toast, pal." " That's the stupidest thing I've ever heard; who in the hell told you that? " "That's the word that's been going around...it's been nice knowing you, Mike." A few more calls in the same vein and I realized someone was spreading rumors...but who, and why ? Even more importantly, what am I going to tell Cindy when she returns from New York and hears the rumors ? My friend was right about one thing...she's going to kill me, she certainly could. For the next few days I didn't dare leave my house, pretending to be sick; but the rumors persisted. As the date for Cindy's return approached, my anxiety level increased. I have known Cindy since she was twelve years old, ever since she moved onto our block. Even then she was a big, tough, athletic girl who never shied away from a challenge or a fight; boys or girls. I've never seen her lose one either. For some reason though, she always had a soft spot for me. Being the same age, we quickly became friends, and have been so ever since. Though no slouch myself - I'm six feet two inches tall and weigh around 190 pounds - I'd stand no chance whatsoever against Cindy in a fight. I honestly didn't know what I was going to do. The day Cindy got back she called me on the phone. I knew it was her but didn't answer it. She then called my mom but I pretended to be asleep. The same thing happened the next day. My anxiety level was increasing. Soon the vacation would be over and I'd have to go back to school,  I couldn't avoid Cindy forever. While I wrestled with these thoughts, there was a knock on my bedroom door. " Come in mom," I said. " I'm not your mother," a voice answered as the door opened," it's me...Cindy." My heart dropped as I stared at the majestic form of Cindy standing in the doorway." I'm very disappointed in you, Mike...very disappointed." She began to walk towards me, and I began to shake. I was sitting on my bed, trying to look brave; failing miserably. Cindy sat down next to me and looked directly into my eyes. " Cindy, I didn't do anything, honest. Someone's been spreading these rumors about me, I don't know who it is or..." That's all I had a chance to say before Cindy put her index finger against my lips, silencing me. " That's not why I'm disappointed in you, Mike. We've known each other a for long time now and you're my closest and most trusted friend. What disappoints me is that you thought that I believed those nasty rumors that Terry's been spreading about you. That's why you haven't been returning my calls; and that's what hurts." Looking up at the powerful girl sitting next to me it was hard to believe that anything could possibly hurt her; she always seemed invincible. "Cindy, I'm sorry, I'm so sorry. I didn't mean to hurt you. It's just that I was afraid of what you'd do to me. You're so big, so strong...please, I beg your forgiveness." Cindy put her powerful arms around me and began to squeeze. As she did so, she pressed her lips up against mine. The force of her embrace pushed me backwards until I lay on my back, with my Amazon girlfriend on top of me. If my parents hadn't been right downstairs...well, you know what we'd be doing. This was the longest, most erotic kiss of my life. When we were finished, Cindy looked down at me and said in a soft, compassionate voice," Mike honey, you're the last person who should be intimidated by me. You must know that I'd never hurt you. You're the kindest, sweetest boy I've ever met." We embraced again. After another long, passionate kiss, I looked up at her and asked, " what are you going to do about Terry?" Cindy sighed." I guess it's about time Terry and I settled this thing once and for all; this school just isn't big enough for the two of us." The Clash of the Amazons It was Monday afternoon, the first day after the holiday vacation ended. The gymnasium was packed with students; nobody wanted to miss this. In the middle of the gym floor stood two large, powerfully built girls. They were facing each other with stern looks on their faces. " Remember the stakes," Cindy reminded Terry," the loser must transfer to a different school." Terry smiled," I haven't forgotten. I sure as hell won't miss you, bitch! " The niceties over, the two Amazons prepared for the battle of their lives. Terry, not one to hold back, began attacking immediately. She threw a powerful right hook that would have flattened any boy in school had it connected. But this was Cindy and she ducked under the punch. Terry threw another; this one glancing off the side of Cindy's face. She appeared unhurt though. Terry continued to throw punches at Cindy, most of which were blocked or sidestepped. Though not an experienced boxer, Cindy had very fast reflexes. She was also tough enough to take Terry's punches, when one of them did connect. As the two large girls circled each other, the crowd of students began to cheer them on. Most of the support was for Cindy, Terry had very few friends. After several more of Terry's punches missed, Cindy decided it was time to counterattack. She began to jab with her left hand. Terry, also not a boxer but a brawler, wasn't too successful at blocking them. After hitting Terry with several good jabs, Cindy threw a hard right cross which landed square on Terry's jaw; knocking her down. She rose to her feet quickly and, angry as hell, began to throw wild punches, screaming as she did. Cindy appeared to be calm and relaxed as she withstood Terry's attack. A well conditioned athlete, Cindy knew she could outlast Terry, who smoked cigarettes, and drank whiskey during class breaks. After about a minute, Terry began to tire. Cindy then countered with a few more solid punches to Terry's mid-section and followed that up with a hard uppercut to the jaw. Once again, Terry found herself on her back. As she was slowly getting up, Cindy looked over in my direction and blew me a kiss. Though Terry was obviously getting the worst of the fight, she was - by no means - beaten. Fighting was as much a part of her life as breathing. The product of an abusive father and an alcoholic mother, she learned - from an early age - to be strong and independent. She was as tough as nails; growing up as she did, she had to be. Cindy may have the advantage of stamina and superior athletic ability, but Terry had the spirit of a warrior; a spirit that would not admit defeat; at least not easily. Rising again, Terry hurled herself at Cindy with a determination that bordered on the fanatic. Her plan this time was to knock Cindy off her feet and wrestle her. In this, at least, she was successful. Terry plowed into Cindy and they both fell to the floor. But what Terry didn't count on was Cindy's strength and speed. They got each other into headlocks and rolled around the floor, struggling for position.  Slowly, Cindy's superior strength and stamina began to tell. Terry was fighting for all she was worth but Cindy - the superbly conditioned athlete - was too much for her. With almost the entire crowd chanting her name;" Cindy, Cindy, Cindy," I felt a tremendous sense of pride in her; feeling, once again, how lucky I was to have her for a girlfriend. Facing certain defeat now, Terry began to get desperate. She reached down with her free hand and dug her fingernails into Cindy's stomach; forcing her to release Terry from her headlock. For the first time I heard Cindy yell out," why you bitch !, you'll pay for that." Both of them stood up with steel in their eyes. This was it, the final showdown; and everybody knew it. As if on cue, both Amazons charged forward, slamming their fists hard into their opponent. No quarter was asked, none would be given. Though Terry got in some good blows, Cindy got in more. As they flailed away at each other, Cindy began to drive Terry back. Her punches seemed to have more power, and she was connecting with much greater frequency. She soon had the Terry backed up against the wall and was hammering her at will; Terry was reduced to just trying to protect herself from Cindy's juggernaut. To make matters worse for Terry, almost the entire student body started singing," Ding, dong the witch is dead; which old witch? the wicked witch, ding, dong the wicked witch is dead..." Had there been a referee there he would have stopped the fight by now. But there wasn't; this was a no holds barred fight to the finish. Terry was bleeding from the nose and mouth, had at least one black eye and probably a dozen welts and bruises all over her body. Cindy wasn't unscathed either; there was some swelling around her jaw and a bruise above her eye. But clearly Terry was getting the worst of it by far. A powerful left into Terry's gut forced her to drop her arms. Cindy then reached out and grabbed her firmly by her shirt. She cocked back her fist and said in a loud voice," this is for trying to ruin my boyfriend's reputation."  WHAM !!! Cindy's right cross to Terry's jaw sent her spinning around twice before she collapsed on her back. Though still conscious, she was finished...it was over. Everybody in the gymnasium was on their feet now, cheering and chanting ," Cindy, Cindy, Cindy..." Cindy stood over her battered opponent with her hands on her hips and reminded Terry of their wager. " I'll expect you to have your locker cleaned out and be gone by tomorrow afternoon." Beaten, humiliated and friendless, Terry - the epitome of toughness -  began to cry. For the first time since she knew her, Cindy began to feel sympathy for Terry. Leaning down, Cindy whispered so that no one else could hear. " Terry, I'm sorry. It's settled between us. I withdraw the terms of our wager; you don't have to leave this school." "No Cindy, I must go. That was the wager and you won; fair and square." Cindy reached down and helped Terry to her feet. She then motioned for me to come over. As I approached the two, Terry, with tears in her eyes, said to me," Mike, I'm sorry for spreading those rumors about you. It was wrong and I apologize." Cindy and I walked Terry out of the gym and into the parking lot where her motorcycle was parked. She  helped the beaten but still proud girl on to the seat. For a few moments these two massive Amazons  simply stared at each other. Then, to my surprise, Cindy reached into her pocket and took out a tissue. She proceeded to wipe the tears away from Terry's eyes. " I hear Fremont High is a pretty good school," she said," you should like it there." They continued to gaze at each other a bit longer.Terry then started up her Harley, drove out of the parking lot and into the street. As we watched her disappear into the traffic I turned to Cindy," well, I hope that's the last we'll see of her." For a minute Cindy was silent...pensive. Finally, she looked at me and said," you know Mike, we should consider ourselves very lucky; we both have parents who love and care for us. Who are we to judge Terry?  That could just as easily have been you or me riding off. Perhaps, if circumstances had been different, Terry and I could have been friends...perhaps someday, we will be."  After a few more moments of quiet thought, Cindy took me by the hand ," come honey, let's go home." Epilogue It was Friday night, the first school dance of the new year. As my band prepared for our gig, I took to the microphone." Well as you all know by now, the title of the toughest kid in school has been settled once and for all." Cheers were heard throughout the auditorium - as I said earlier, Cindy was one of the most popular girls in school. She stood up and flexed her awesome muscles for the crowd." In honor of Cindy's triumph, I'd like to dedicate the first song of the evening to her. Let's hit it boys."
