Amazon Amanda, the village protector by M.C. A powerful woman fulfills her destiny   Author's note: This story is very similar to several others I've written over the past few years. In fact the first few paragraphs were taken verbatim from an earlier story of mine; can one plagiarize oneself ?  The reason for this is that I'm trying to personalize the main character - i.e. write about a *real* person, though in a fictionalized setting. Sorry if it seems redundant but I like the theme...it's always been a favorite of mine. The woman who *inspired* this story, Amanda, has a website. www.amazonamanda.com And now for the story... 10,000 B.C. The small object sped through space as it had been doing for uncounted eons of time. As it approached the blue watery planet below it's exterior began to heat up and burn in the planet's upper atmosphere. By the time it impacted on the surface, the meteorite was no larger than a pebble. Embedding itself in the ground, the extraterrestrial 'visitor' united with the native soil and, together, produced a unique type of plant; a one-time quirk of alien and terrestrial biology that remained untouched for centuries. 500 years later... She was lost. Warned by her parents never to stray too far from the village, the small, curious twelve - year old girl nevertheless ventured out too far and now couldn't find her way back home. She was lost and hungry. As she searched the forest floor for something edible, her keen eyes spotted something strange, something she'd never seen before. Sitting down near the small patch of sweet smelling blue flowers, hunger forced her to taste one. To her surprise, it was delicious. She ate another...and another...and, before too long, she had devoured the entire patch. Just after the stone-age girl had consumed the last of these strange blue flowers, she heard the cries of the village search party calling out her name; they found her, she was saved. It wasn't long afterwards that the girl began to notice some peculiar changes taking place in her physiology. She seemed to be growing at much a faster pace than her friends of the same age. In addition, she was getting stronger...much stronger. So much so that by the time she was 15, she was the strongest person in the village, by far. At first it was difficult for many of the men to accept that a 15 year old girl was stronger than the strongest men in the village, but eventually they had to come to terms with it; indeed, they didn't have any other choice. Many times she returned to the place where she had eaten the strange flowers, but they never grew back. When she took a mate and procreated, her daughter (but not her son) seemed to have also acquired her unique strength and growth characteristics... as would her granddaughter...and her great - granddaughter...and so on, down through the generations... Many, many generations later. The worried mother looked up at the sun...it would be getting dark soon; where could they be? She had told her children many times not to wander too far from their village - especially close to nightfall - but, being children, they probably forgot about the time and even where they were. Maybe they were lost, or worse, already devoured by some of the terrifying creatures that roamed the jungles of their isolated country. Her concern increased as she thought of what could happen to her son and daughter if they remained in the jungle at night. Feeling she had no other choice now, the worried mother went to see Amazon Amanda - the protector of the village. She found the massive woman working, as usual, in the fields; removing the huge boulders that only she could lift. As the mother approached, Amanda greeted her with a friendly smile; but already sensed that something was wrong. " It's my children," the woman said, " I don't know where they are; I fear the worst." Trying to reassure her, Amanda put one of her strong hands on the woman's shoulder. " I'm sure they're safe and close by, but I'll go out and look for them. Where did you last see your children ? " She pointed in the direction where she saw them playing a few hours earlier." Don't worry," Amanda said in a calm tone of voice," I'll find them."  With that, the mighty woman entered the jungle, in search of the wayward children. As the powerfully built, six foot-three inch, four hundred pound Amazon strode majestically through the jungle, she reflected on her life as a protector. How, even as a young girl, she was stronger than even the strongest men in her village. How she couldn't play with the other children very much because her mother, an equally massive woman, was training Amanda for the role she would eventually be required to fulfill when her mother became too old to carry out the duties of protector. Whenever the people in the village were threatened, either by warriors from other villages or huge beasts, it was to these 'superwomen' that they would turn to for protection. That's the way it had always been and Amanda - just as her mother had done before her, and *her* mother before her (and so on back through the eons of time ) would defeat whatever threat there was; they never failed. This task fell to Amanda because, for some unknown reason, the women of her genetic line always possessed great size and tremendous physical strength. The Amazons in her lineage just accepted it; it was their fate. Amazon Amanda could do no less, nor would she. She would find the missing children; that was her job. After about a half an hour of walking at a brisk pace, Amanda's keen sense of hearing picked up the faint sound of children laughing. True to her word, she had found them. But at the same time Amanda also sensed the presence of something else; something far larger and dangerous. She had to reach the children soon, before *it* did; or it would be too late. Amanda began to run, her powerful legs propelling her swiftly through the jungle. It wasn't long before she came to a large clearing where, on the opposite side, she saw the two children playing in a waterhole; laughing and splashing each other. Amanda watched for a few moments, thinking about how much different their childhood was from the way hers had been. No training, no responsibilities; just fun. Then, remembering that a waterhole  also attracts dangerous animals, Amanda approached the children. " Tara, Grog, I think we had better be returning to the village before it gets dark," she said," your mother is very worried about you." The two children stared up at the massive woman standing in front of them. Though she dwarfed the two of them, they weren't afraid. Amanda was, despite her size and awesome strength, probably the friendliest person in their village. She never abused her strength; she only used it to protect. " We're sorry Amanda,"  Tara - the 12 year old girl - said. " I guess we kind of forgot about the time. I hope we didn't cause you any trouble." Amanda smiled," no trouble at all little one. But I think we'd better be on our way." " Can we ride on you ?" Grog - Tara's 10 year old brother - asked. " Why of course you can," came her reply. Amanda bent down and lifted up the two kids. But just as they turned to leave, there was a sudden violent thrashing and a loud "ROAR" coming from the near-by trees. This was followed by the sound of branches breaking, and an earth shaking " THUD !THUD!" Something very large and ominous was approaching. " Amanda, I'm scared," Grog screamed; trembling. " Me too," Tara said. " You have absolutely nothing to be afraid of while I'm here," Amanda replied without any trace of fear," I will protect you." She put Tara and Grog down." Run to the jungle on the other side; you'll be safe there. I'll stay here and *deal* with whatever this creature is." No sooner had Amanda said this than the trees nearest to them were smashed apart and out charged a fully grown Tyrannosaurs Rex - the meanest, fiercest creature ever to have walked the face of the earth. As Tara and Grog ran for the jungle, the mighty Amazon - satisfied that the children were now safe - bravely turned to face this challenge. In fact, the powerful woman actually began walking *towards* the huge dinosaur, with an angry look on her face. " Scare small children in my jungle will you; well, we'll see about that, big boy." ***** As Amanda prepared to do battle with the fierce Tyrannosaurs Rex, she reflected back on the first time that she was called upon to defend her people. Even though she was only 15 years old, her mother - and the protector at the time - thought her six-foot, 275 pound daughter was ready to handle a certain *situation* that had arisen between their village and a neighboring one over the use of a waterhole. Amanda's mother felt it would give her young daughter experience in the what would someday become her main responsibility; protecting the inhabitants of her community. The neighboring village decided to settle the dispute in the usual way; by sending a war party consisting of ten of their strongest warriors, armed with spears, to force her people to stop using the waterhole. Since Amanda's was a peaceful village with no warriors (or so the spies sent to observe them reported) ten big, strong warriors ought to be enough to drive home their point. What they failed to take into account was that there was a secret weapon waiting for them, a 15 year-old girl named Amanda. She met them at the entrance to her village. "And just where do you think you're going boys ?," Amanda asked in a calm but firm tone. " We've come to tell your people that you can no longer use the waterhole," the leader of the group arrogantly said. "But there's plenty of water for both villages; why can't we just share the waterhole since it's halfway between each village ? " " Because we want all the water, that's why. Now step aside girl. We have to give the people of your village a demonstration of our power, so they will understand." To their surprise, the pretty raven haired teenager just stood there in front of the war party with her hands on her hips." Well, since you boys are going to be that way, then I guess you leave me no other choice but to teach you all a lesson." She grabbed the head of the wooden spear that the leader was pointing at her and, with a flick of her wrist, snapped it off. She then picked up the stunned leader and hurled him into some of his men, knocking them all down. A large warrior attacked Amanda from the side but one slap from her hand sent him spinning around several times before he fell, unconscious, to the ground. For the next few minutes, the mighty girl playfully tossed the men around as if they were rag dolls; which, to her, they probably were. Off to the side, Amanda's mother watched proudly. " She'll make a great protector," she said to herself. Three minutes later, Amanda stood next to a neat pile of battered and unconscious warriors; without a scratch on her. "Mommy, can I go back and play with the other kids now ?," she asked with the innocence that only a young girl could. " I'm afraid not honey," came her mother's reply. " You still have to deal with the underlying problem of the waterhole. If you don't, they'll just send more warriors to our village - maybe when we're not around to protect it." Amanda pondered this for a few moments...then she smiled. " I think I know what to do, mommy." Amanda went into her village and soon returned with a long rope. She put the rope on the ground and began placing the unconscious men on top of it. Whenever one of the men came to, she knocked him out again with her fist. " This is kind of fun," she giggled. After piling them up on the rope, she tied it snugly around all of them. Amanda then grabbed one end of the rope and began to drag them along the ground." I'm taking them home mother; perhaps now they'll listen to reason." Even though it was over a mile to their village, the powerful girl had little trouble dragging them the entire distance. When she was halfway there, Amanda stopped briefly at the disputed waterhole. " You boys look hot, let's cool you off a bit." She picked up the entire group and tossed them into the water, laughing as she did so. Helplessly tied together, there was absolutely nothing they could do about it. After a few minutes, Amanda yanked on the rope, dragged them out of the water and continued on her way," I hope you all enjoyed your swim, tee, hee." When she arrived at the village with her *bundle*, all the villagers stopped what they were doing and stared at this unbelievable sight - their ten mightiest warriors, all battered and beaten, were being dragged along the ground by a teenage girl. Amanda pulled the pathetic lot up to the large hut of the village chief and placed them before their stunned leader. " Now, this is the way it's going to be," she began in a stern voice." There's enough water for both of our villages, so we're going to share it. If you try to force a decision on us again, then I'm going to get very angry...and you don't want that to happen; do you ? " Amanda pointed to the ten humiliated warriors to emphasize her point. Needless to say, the waterhole was never an issue again. Returning back to her village, Amanda received a well earned hug from her mother. " Now can I play with the kids mommy ?," she asked. " Yes honey, now you can play with your friends." And then there was the time a few years later when two other villages threatened to go to war with each other over a silly insult one of the chiefs made to the other. They each gathered fifty warriors and a great battle loomed. Even though it didn't affect their village, Amanda's mother felt that this war would result in great loss of life and must be stopped. So she and Amanda - now a strapping six-foot three inches tall and nearly 400 pounds of solid muscle - positioned themselves in between the two warring tribes. " We will not allow this battle to take place," Amanda's mother announced. Angered by this insult to their masculinity by two females, both armies attacked the women. What followed was a massacre; the men didn't stand a chance. Faced with two superwomen, taking on a side each, bodies were sent flying all over the place and - when the dust settled - one hundred men lay unconscious, spewed all over the battlefield. Amanda and her mother then each grabbed one of the chiefs and forced them to apologize to the other; thus averting the war. As humiliating as it must have been to their male pride - for all of them to be beaten up by just two women - not one single life was lost; and peace was imposed on them. Shortly afterwards, Amanda's mother retired and the role of village protector passed to her daughter. ***** The huge Tyrannosaurs - opened his mouth and prepared to swallow the brave woman standing before him. " An easy meal," he must have thought to himself. But, as he bent down and tried to close his powerful jaws around his seemingly helpless prey, he noticed something strange...he couldn't close his mouth. " Thinking of having me for dinner eh, tough guy ? " Amanda calmly said as she held his jaws open with her hands. " Well, I'm sorry to disappoint you big boy but you chose to tangle with the wrong girl today." With that, Amanda reached back and " WHAM ! " sent her mighty fist crashing into his jaw. His head snapped back and several teeth went flying out. Enraged, he attacked again. " SMASH ! " another blow from the powerful woman; coasting him several more teeth. Amanda then leaped up high in the air and sent her fist deep into the dinosaur's stomach. Another uppercut to his jaw and he was now on the defensive. A seven ton, twenty foot tall dinosaur was being driven back by an awesome and beautiful woman. From the safety of the jungle, Tara and Grog cheered her on. Several more punishing blows from the mighty Amazon and the Tyrannosaurs realized he'd met his match. He turned to flee...but he didn't get far. " Oh no you don't," Amanda said as she ran after him, "I'm not through with you yet." She easily caught up to him and grabbed him by the tail. Despite his best efforts to escape, Amanda began to drag the huge dinosaur back. " You'll never even think about harming anyone again by the time I've finished with you." Amanda grasped his tail with both of her hands and - in an awesome display of her amazing strength - she hurled the seven ton creature 180 degrees forward, smashing him to the ground. Then, turning around, she hurled him back again,"CRASH!" The ground literally shook as Amanda continued to bash the helpless creature back and forth; his once ferocious roars now reduced to pathetic screeches. " And now for the grand finale," she said. Still holding the battered dinosaur by the tail, the gorgeous, invincible woman began to whirl around and around. As she did so, the once fearsome T-Rex was lifted off the ground. Faster and faster she spun until they were just a blur. Finally, with a mighty heave, Amazon Amanda - which she truly is - released the 'King of the Dinosaurs', sending him hurtling into the sky. Tara and Grog watched in awe as the dinosaur literally flew out of sight. Far off in the distance, they heard a muffled 'crash'. " Well," Amanda said matter-of-factly - and with more than a trace of understatement - " I guess that mean old bully won't be bothering anyone around here for quite awhile." The two children ran up to Amanda and each put their arms around one of her massive thighs; or as far around her thighs as their small arms would reach. " Oh, Amanda, you are truly wonderful," Tara said. Smiling down at them, she responded," that's my job, Tara...to protect you all. Now, I think it's time we headed back to our village, your mother must be worried sick about you by now. But instead of carrying you, I have a much better idea." " What's that ? " they asked in unison. Amanda laughed," Let's skip home." " Skip ? " the children asked...perplexed. " Yes, skip. You see, I've spent so much of my life preparing to be the village protector, that I never really had a *normal* childhood. I seldom got to play and enjoy the things you kids do." "Really ?, that's kind of sad," Grog said. " Yes it was. In a way, I'm very envious of the two of you." Tara and Grog looked at each other. Finally, Tara spoke, " O.K. then...let's all skip home." With the mighty Amanda in the middle - holding Tara and Grog's hands - the three of them began to skip off in the direction of their village; laughing as they went.
