As the preparation went on, Victoria carried me into the
back room. There, in a matter of an hour, I was completely transformed once again. Vicotria bleached my hair, and made up my face. She then fitted me with a pair of panties and a padded bra. She then dressed me into a white laced dress with a large pink ribbon, instead of the belt with a big bow in the back. Out of everything that I had worn in the past week this was by far the girliest outfit of them all. In addition she put on me a white hat, with another pink bow on it, that matched the whole outfit. When Victoria finally walked me out, to show to the bridal party; all the women thought I was "absolutely adorable." For the next ten minutes all they could do, was talk about how lovely I looked, and how ingenious it was of them, to think of me at the last second. Jennifer played-along, as if she was just as surprised - although from time-to-time I could see a gloating look on her face, and saw her admiring me in my new role, which was now inevitable. At about two in the afternoon, we all loaded into a large limo that was waiting for us outside. The last one to get in was Alice. She looked absolutely beautiful in her wedding dress, and I could not help but feel good about being involved in her wedding. As we were getting into the limo Jennifer quickly pulled me onto her lap, and I ended up riding the entire trip that way. When we arrived at the wedding hall there was already a number of people waiting there. The women quickly piled out of the car, with Jennifer being the last one out. Before I had a chance to take a single step on the sidewalk, I was snatched-up and once again carried by Jennifer. We quickly went inside the building, where a man, dressed in a tux, walked with us to our room and showed us exactly where we were to await the ceremony. The room was fairly large with some sofas and chairs arranged along the wall. Alice must have had her own separate room, because suddenly I realized she was no longer with us. For the next hour I was the again the center of attention. Since the women did not have much to talk about, they turned their attentions to me. I was held, hugged and pinched. I hated it, but had no choice but to play along. At one point, Alice's younger sister, who looked to be in her early twenties sat me on her lap. She was a very attractive girl, a lot like Alice, except much taller and slimmer. "Jessica, I love your little dress," she said with a smile. "I bet you, you will be the prettiest girl at this wedding." "Thank you," I replied with the girliest voice I could muster. "So, how old are you, Jess?" she asked with a smile. I was not sure what to say, but luckily Jennifer stepped in for me: "Ann, she is only two years younger than you. She is twelve." This was a shock. The girl whose lap I was so comfortably sitting on was only 14!!! Which meant she was 10 years younger than me. In addition she was convinced that I was only 12. "Don't worry Jess," said Ann, as if she could read my thoughts, and it seemed that the only purpose for her next words was to humiliate me even further: "I am sure you will grow up to be much taller. Two years ago I was not much taller myself, than you are right now." This was too much for me to handle. I climbed off her lap walked toward the corner of the room, where nobody could see the tears welling-up in my eyes. Suddenly, someone walked into the room, and as I turned, I realized that once again I was the centre of attention. It was the man in the tuxedo again: he wanted to show me what I would need to be doing, since I had missed the rehearsal the day before. I was actually glad to get out of the room. The man took me by the hand and led me down the corridor into the chapel. He showed me where I would stand and what I should do. After that he told me: "Don't worry Princess, you are so adorable, they will love you no matter what you do." "Thank you sir," I said. This was the most degrading complement I had ever heard in my entire life. The next hour was a blur. People were coming and going. Everyone was talking, laughing, and just mingling, in anticipation of the coming event. I wanted to run away and hide, but it seemed that absolutely everyone wanted to say something nice to me about the way I looked. Finally, at exactly 4pm the tuxedo guy came into our room and said it was time. Suddenly my head started spinning; I realized how nervous I was. I do not remember what happened next. Jennifer must have carried me to the chapel, because all of a sudden I was pushed into the large hall with two hundred pairs of eyes staring at me - and a basket of rose-petals in my hands. As the music played, I slowly walked down the isle - throwing the flowers all around me. I could feel all the guests staring at me, and this, it seemed - like the isle - was never going to end. As I finally made it all the way to the little stage, I saw Rob standing there, with a big smile on his face. Just as before, I thought that there was no-way he would not recognize me, but he just looked at me with a warm smile, as if he never seen me before. I stopped right in front of him, and was waiting for him to say something. Instead he took me by the hand and gently pushed me toward the stage. Clearly, he did not recognize his best friend. All he saw was an adorable little flower girl. I do not remember the rest of the ceremony. In fact I do not remember very much of anything of that evening. I do know that almost every picture that was taken during Rob and Alice's wedding had in it a pretty young girl dressed in a most adorable white dress. And that girl was me. When Jessica dropped me off at the airport the next day, she had to sing a special release form with the airline, so that her little "daughter" Jessica would be allowed to travel to Sacramento without adult supervision. She picked me up one last time, kissed me on the forehead and said: "Don't worry, baby, everything will be ok", and a young and very friendly flight attendant lead me to my seat, tears were rolling down my cheeks. |
