1999 NPC Jr. Nationals (Celebrities) By -Jabber Celebrities: Well, maybe not celebrities, I was just sick of calling this "Audience Notables" or some such. :-) Obviously the promoter of the show, Deshay Ebert, was quite visible at the show. Steve Wennerstrom pointed out to me that she, today, is in better condition now than when she competed. Indeed, she certainly has a great look; I for one would love to see her make a comeback. Also seen at a bunch of Texas shows is the Texas sized Kim Wagner (nee Robinson). You may remember Kim from an older WPW video she did with Mary Ellen Campo, Skye Ryland, and Denise Duffield. Interestingly, I'd thought she was married to head judge Kevin Wagner, who promotes the Texas State Championships. Of late, I'd seen them each with their own respective dates (well Mr. Wagner with someone anyway). I'd pointed out to Steve Wennerstrom that Kim's a lot more muscular than Kevin's current date. :-) Kim was always known not for having great biceps, but very thick triceps. Indeed, still true today. The host of the evening festivities, the famed Shawn Michaels was there with his Shawn Michaels Wrestling Academy booth set up. I didn't really recognize any of the other wrestlers in his entourage (possibly I'm a bit out of touch? :-) ). Anyway, I found it interesting to observe Shawn Michaels' girlfriend. She was a tall brunette, in pretty good shape, but not thin like a fitness girl nor muscular like an fbb, with reasonably large implants. Interestingly, I have a friend in Dallas who has a crush on Shawn Michaels. I wonder what she'll say when I tell her that Shawn Michaels' girlfriend bears more than a passing resemblance to her (but my friend isn't as fit, and she's "natural" up top). Maybe if my travel lessens a bit, I'll get a chance to tell her. :-) The Jr. Nationals had a pretty good turn-out overall. Actually, they had a really good turn-out in the prejudging, but I was afraid to leave my seat (thank goodness I didn't have to go to the bathroom during the women's portion), because I was in the first row, I kind of snuck up there to where the test judges and NPC officials and so forth sit. For the finals, I was glad I swapped out seats with Deshay Ebert (the promoter) as the 3rd row seats in the evening were great, too. But, unlike most other shows, there were empty seats up front. I do believe the promoter held on to an uncharacteristically large amount of tickets for this show (causing the gaps in seating). Ah, but I saved the best for last. A tremendously huge Trish Swander (also from WSE '98 strength show fame) showed up with her boyfriend/husband, who was sporting a Jesse Ventura look. Trish is from South Texas, so this wasn't quite as much of a trek for her (only a bit more than for me). But while at the WSE she was one of the more slight looking competitors, here she looked huge in the off-season. Truly spectacular in her sequin short-sleeve blouse that capped her shoulders and exposed her midriff. Plus, even without that body, she has a face that would capture your attention. I love these shows... Until next -jabber review (coming up soon)...
