1999 NPC Heart of Texas (Intro) By -jabber I didn't want to disappoint the promoter, Prince Harrison, who I've said numerous times to "I see you more often than I do members of my own family!" (due to both of our traveling to many shows), as he remembered I didn't show up at his show last year. Anyway, hopefully this "bad" trend will end soon - but this was the 2nd of 3 (so far) Texas shows where I missed the Prejudging - for good reason though. Unfortunately the 3rd show, the Lone Star (with the incredible guest poser Lesa Lewis) I will not be reviewing (quit yer clappin' fer cryin' out loud! :-) ). The Heart of Texas, or affectionately referred to as H.O.T. is in Temple, Texas, and I affectionately refer to it as The Heart of Nowhere. :-) Anywhere my pager doesn't work I call nowhere... Coincidentally, the reason I almost missed this show (no prejudging and almost flubbed the finals) was due to me trying to figure out what the heck was going on with the Ms. O - cancelled, then rescheduled. I'd been away, not heard about that - so I was catching up. When I finally left, I got down there in a record 2 hours! Temple is just about a half hour south of that little-known town called Waco. At least Prince Harrison (and Marvin Meinstein - the promoter of the Lone Star) know a bit about consideration. Both provide a "roster" of competitors, and a nice welcome, and we thank our sponsors, etc., etc. Perhaps others could learn from example here. When I saw Marvin again, asked him, "Don't tell me you've cancelled your show, then moved it to New Jersey, too?!" Actually there was a fairly good turn-out for this show, considering it was in the Heart of Nowhere... -jabber
