NPC Nationals 1998 by -jabber Lightweights... In the lightweights, the judging was remarkably close in agreement to the -jabber's. The one departure was 5th place finisher Maureen Davidson, an attractive blonde with very large biceps for a lightweight. I thought she should've finished 3rd, knocking the next two down a peg. I find watching women flex anything but boring, sorry. But I will agree with Hooligan that the majority of the posing seen in the show was a bit tame, muted, and not real dynamic. Plus since I also like loud rock concerts, I felt the music could've been louder. Nothing better than loud music and muscular women! Ha. In 4th was Dee Nesch-Thelon and in 3rd was Nicole Bouvier (should've been 5th and 4th, respectively). Arguably, though these two might've been in better condition than Maureen Davidson, just did not exceed her aesthetics (which I place above conditioning - although both are quite important). In 2nd was a cute Stacy Seaver, but an easy 1st place went to a most impressive Denise Gerard. By far the most muscular lightweight, she was perhaps the best conditioned and most massive in her class with helluva deal of aesthetics to boot. I've seen Denise robbed in contests in the past, I cheered loudly when she got the win. Of note outside of the top five was a popular Lynn McCrossin, a personal favorite of mine. Milling around in the audience, her arm mass and tan looked positively stellar. I was incredulous when I realized this reasonably short, but thick heavily muscled woman was only a lightweight! What are her bones light as a feather? Anyway, although I like her a lot and there was no denying that her arms take a back seat to no one, as well as her having quite the impressive thighs, to put it mildly, on stage, her symmetry was all messed up. These big bodyparts, while all good individually, just didn't mesh nearly as well as most others, hence her rightfully so not getting in the top 5. But I still like you, Lynn. :-)
