1999 NPC Jr. USA Review -jabber style Notables in Audience Some notables in the audience were as follows: Deshay Ebert (who is the promoter this year of the Jr. Nationals, June 19th in the great non-lame city of San Antonio, TX) from San Antonio, was one of the judges, arguably the most attractive. In my opinion, she holds the distinction of being the thickest former fitness competitor I've ever seen. I don't believe she'd ever been an fbb, but she looked great wearing a sleeveless black dress for the finals - big! Speaking of "big", our Bethany Howlett was one of the few folks milling around the lobby (remember I said it was quiet - so quiet, you could hear a pin drop if the floor wasn't carpeted). In chatting with her, she'd mentioned that she'll be out in my neck of the woods guest posing at the Ronnie Coleman Classic (a great show, well worth it if you can make it to Ft. Worth - I don't have the exact date yet though). She should also be in great shape, because her next show will be the Jan Tana Fitness. Yes, FITNESS! What is the world coming to you say? Hmm, I wish her well, just the same. Plus I met Bethany's boyfriend, Shari "King" Kamali. Personally, I think that would be a great name for an fbb - sorry Bethany, I couldn't resist. :-) Seriously, he seemed like a nice guy. Also, I'd seen Ronny Lipari, Renee O'Neill (with no Ziggy nor Christine Marshall to be seen), and Theresa Nabors (remember her?), who's from Alabama, in addition to the staggering number of good to great shape women who are virtual unknowns, but dressed to the hilt for the evening show. Ah, life is good! :-) Denise Gerard was also in attendance... Notable by their absence were the WPW folks - interesting, as this show definitely had a couple very high quality competitors that would be sure to turn a few heads if taped (among other things :-) ). One thing I found interesting was there were flyers on how to get a tape of the show. Upon reading the flyer, I saw it said the tape would be of the men only, something was mentioned about by contract they can't market the women's tape; curious since the WPW folks were nowhere to be seen - again by my untrained eye. :-) Overall, it was a good show, not much for me to be upset with, judging-wise (but arguably, many other shows are tougher and closer to judge), an understated stage decor, but a nice facility, good acoustics, somewhat lame city, but I wouldn't mind going to another show at Birmingham Jefferson Civic Center Concert Hall - perhaps we could convince "Arnold" to have next year's Ms. I there? Hmm... Till next -jabber review... -jabber
