THE TAMIL TIGRESS PART TWO by Hamlet As she looked back on her life there was no doubt about it, Banu was a big Tamil Mean Girl, a huge girl; big and strong and muscular. She'd been so all her life. By the time she was thirteen, Banu was five feet ten inches tall and weighed nearly 220 pounds. At sixteen, the attractive, big Tamil Girl topped six feet two inches and approached 300 pounds. Despite her best efforts at weight control, Banu continued to grow larger until finally, at around the age of18, her growth spurt finally stopped. By that time, however, she stood six feet six inches tall and weighed around 400 pounds. For obvious reasons, hers was not an easy adolescence. Being a girl with her dimensions, and strength, definitely had its disadvantages; especially in creating fear at the Nehru Matriculation Higher Secondary School in Nagapattinam Tamil Nadu . Banu had a very difficult time making friends especially as she had a very aggressive forward personality. Most of the boys were intimidated by her sheer size and great physical strength. School culture being what it is, very few people wanted to be seen with a huge girl of Amazonian size.,a She Elephant as they privately called her. Another person might have been broken by the experience, but not Banu. Instead of feeling sorry for herself, she learned to cope with it by excelling at everything she did. Eventually she decided to form a all Girl gang the Mean Girls with her two friends Gna and Raa. Scholastically she was a top student and made the top grade in every subject . Her great size and strength helped her in athletics where she became the Nagapattinam champion in the shot put, kabaddi and discus; her distances easily excelling those of her male counterparts. Banu was also the star centre on the girl's basketball team. One of her greatest thrills in school occurred when, in the school's open wrestling tournament, she humiliated the defending champion- a boy an arrogant, conceited hockey player who was constantly teasing her about her size. She played with the 300 pound tough guy in front of the entire school before finally pinning him; he never teased her again.Banu even excelled at chess, where she again led her team to the Tamil Nadu title. But, despite her successes, Banu lacked the one thing she wanted the most; a boyfriend For several weeks Banu had noticed at school the good looking, but somewhat shy, boy sitting off to the side in her Tamil literature class. When she would catch him looking at her, he would quickly avert his eyes. She felt he wasn't staring at her though, just looking. " Could he really be interested in me ? " She thought to herself. " Is this someone who actually isn't turned off by my size? " For the next few days Banu watched...and waited. Finally, when she could contain her curiosity no longer, Banu approached him after their class was over, held out her hand towering over him in her superior height and said, " Hello, my name is Banu; sweetheart what's yours ? " An awkward moment followed as the boy, somewhat taken aback by her straightforward approach, seemed to be at a loss for words. " Sans--kar," he replied at length and shook her hand. " Well Sanskar, I have a break before my next class. Would you like to join me for a cup of coffee ? " Another moment of silence followed - probably the longest moment in Banu's life - before she heard the words she desperately wanted to hear.. ." Yes, a cup of coffee would be great about now." The first hurdle had been cleared. As they sat and talked, Banu and Sanskar discovered they had a lot of common interests. They read the same authors, enjoyed the same Bollywood films, shared similar tastes in music, and liked to go on long walks; along the beach from Nagapattinam to Karaikal. Sanskar even played chess, although he would always lose when he played Her. . The more they talked, the more they seemed to love one another -Banu's vastly superior size and intelligence seemed less and less important. But, as they rose to leave that day, Sanskar looked up at the muscular girl in front of him and paused...and Banu's heart dropped. "Here it comes," she thought to herself," now he's going to notice just how large I am...and feel intimidated. Will it never end ? " Another long pause followed, and then Sanskar nervously said," Banu...I think...you...you're...so...attractive. Would you like to out on a date ? " Banu smiled and definitely said yes! As the weeks passed, their friendship blossomed. Being her first true boyfriend, Banu gave it everything she had -and she had a lot to give. Sanskar -who was indeed very introverted and never had a real 'girlfriend' before - gave it right back to her. Things seemed to be going great for them; until an incident at the school threatened to derail their whole relationship. Sanskar had agreed to meet Banu one afternoon after his history class in front of the school common room and then they'd go for a walk along the beach towards nagore . Arriving early, Sanskar decided to go inside and have a cup of tea As he entered, Sanskar saw the usual groups of pupils sitting off in corners. Around a large table in the centre of the room sat about twenty pupils ; hockey players etc. They were mingling with six cheerleaders. As Sanskar didn't mix with that crowd, he bought a tea and walked over to an empty table off to the side. He couldn't help but hear the giggling as he walked past their table though, and he knew why. As he sat down, Sanskar noticed that the hockey and cricket players and cheerleaders kept pointing over in his direction and laughing. Inside, he began to seethe; 'Why can't they just leave her alone. So she's big; She's also a wonderful person...people can be so cruel." He might have kept his temper in check, had one of the more obnoxious pricks got up and sauntered over to his table. "Well, you're the boyfriend of that Banu girl aren't you...and I use the word 'girl' loosely. What's it like, being in bed with a big she elephant .no wonder her nick name is the She Elephant" When he said this, the entire table of hockey players and cheerleaders laughed; and Sanskar anger overwhelmed his restraint. Although he knew that he was no match for the hockey player that stood in front of him, he no longer cared. He, as well as his Girlfriend, had just been insulted'he felt he had to do something. Rising to his feet, Sanskar tossed his half empty glass of coffee into the arrogant man's face. " Screw you, asshole," he shouted with uncharacteristic courage. Before Sanskar knew what was happening, the infuriated hockey player grabbed him by his shirt collar, cocked back his fist and prepared to rearrange his face. Overmatched, Sanskar prepared himself for the worst...and then he heard a loud female voice cry out, 'Stop it right there ! That's my boyfriend.'. .LEAVE HIM THE HELL ALONE !
