Lorri the mean girl prepares for her next fight by Hamlet In the weeks that followed the 'incident' at the student union (described in the first chapter ), Lorri's life changed dramatically. .Lorri noticed the respect - even awe - many of the other puplis had for Her now; even the macho football players stood to the side when the powerful Girl walked by. A lot of the female pupils at school began to see Her as a kind of folk Heroine; in sharp contrast to the way She had been viewed in the past. No longer looked on as a freak, Amazon Lorri - as She was now known - was held in high esteem by just about everyone; and She loved it. Proud of who She was and what She was capable of doing, the six foot-three inch, 400 pound Woman strode through the schoool with an air of confidence. The genie had finally been let out of the bottle; and would never return. Simon Her close friend, after an initial period of adjustment, came to terms with the fact that he had found the Woman of his dreams -and showered upon Her all the love he was capable of giving. Lorri returned it in kind. No longer ashamed of showing off Her prodigious power - as She had been for so long for fear of intimidating people and scaring away potential friends - Lorri could now engage in contests of strength against Her fellow athletes. On one occasion, during a charity fund raising event the school was sponsoring, She led the Woman's basketball team to a victory over the Men's team in a tug of war. Then, She took on two of the strongest linemen on the football team by Herself. For several minutes the mighty Woman simply held them in place. They, despite their best efforts, couldn't budge Her. Lorri just stood there laughing and encouraged them to try harder. When She finally began to pull backwards on the rope, they collapsed like a house of cards and She literally dragged them across the line. While helping the stunned Men to their feet, Lorri gave each one a kiss." No hard feelings O.K. boys ?, " She smiled as She patted their backsides. The crowd loved it and Simon beamed with pride. Despite Her strength and new found popularity, Lorri did not let it go to Her head although one day She would become the School Bully as the Mean Girl. Remembering Her many years of being an 'outsider', She had no desire to be treated as special in any way. One day, when She and Simon got on a long cashier's line at the bookstore, all of the pupils in front of them moved to the side to let them go first. As Simon began to move forward, Lorri gently tugged his shirtsleeve; " We'll wait this time on line just like everyone else, sweetie," She said. Her life had finally become the way She had always hoped it would be; and She wasn't about to let Her ego or false pride spoil it. A few days later Simon came home very excited. " Lorri, guess what ? " he blurted out." I found this posted up on the school bulletin board." When Lorri responded with a confused look he handed Her the flyer (advertisement) and said," Here, read this ! " Lorri took the flyer and began to read : " To any student brave enough : Jeff ( The Killer ) Johnson - winner of the 'world's toughest boy' contest - will be appearing at the school boxing arena this Friday night. He has a standing offer of ##2,000 to anyone who can beat him in a fight. Who among you are courageous enough to accept the challenge of the toughest boy in the world ? " Lorri put down the flyer, looked at Simon and said in an unenthusiastic tone of voice," I suppose you'd like to see Me fight this Jeff Johnson, wouldn't you ? " " Well, sure Lorri. I Mean the way you handled those boys at the school ; you shouldn't have any problem with this boy. I doubt that anybody else would even dare to go up against him." Lorri sighed. "Simon, you need to understand something. What I did at the school, I did to protect you. In fact, I can count the number of fights I've had in My life on one hand. Yes, I'm big and strong, and I'm not ashamed of it anymore as my performance in the tug-of-war showed. But that was a charity fund raising event and nobody got hurt. A few bruised egos perhaps, but that's about it. Now, you'd like to see Me fight some boy that I don't even know; for no reason other than to prove how tough I am ? Do we really need the money so bad that I have to turn Myself into a circus act ? I'm sorry honey, but I've spent so much of My life being feared and rejected. Now, when I've finally found the acceptance I'd been searching for, I can't throw it all away and become a 'freak' again. That's why I didn't join the football team when the coach asked Me to last month; or the wrestling team either for that matter. I just want to have a normal life Simon, and not be the subject of people's curiosity again." When Lorri finished talking Simon sadly gazed down at his feet. " I - I'm sorry Lorri, I didn't mean to insult you. I just thought that...well...I thought..." Lorri put Her finger to his lips and smiled. " I know Simon, you're proud of Me and I love you for it. I'm proud of Myself too. Come, let's go into the bedroom, we have a couple of hours before our next class..." The next day, as Lorri was walking through the campus, She saw Amy, one of Her very best friends; a person who liked Her *before* the incident at the school, sitting on a bench and crying. " What's the matter Amy ?," Lorri asked as She sat down beside Her. "Oh Lorri, it was horrible, just awful. Last night Jeff ( Amy's boyfriend ) and I went out to the pub for a few beers. There was this huge man there, bigger than you even, I think his name Was Jeff Johnson or something like that, and he appeared to be drunk. When we sat down, he came over and started making lewd comments about me. Jeff asked him to stop but he wouldn't. Finally, when we got up to leave, Jeff told him how rude he was...and...this guy...he...he beat Jeff up. Jeff's in the hospital now with a broken jaw. Lorri, it was terrible." Amy put her head down against Lorri's massive shoulder and cried as Lorri gently rocked Her friend back and forth; all the while thinking...reconsidering. " Well Simon, it looks like you're going to get your wish after all," Lorri announced when She returned to their apartment later that afternoon," I've decided to accept this challenge of Mr. Johnson." She then proceeded to tell him about what happened to Jeff. " But I want you to know, I'm not doing this for personal glory or ambition; it's simply a matter of settling a score. Nobody treats a friend of mine like that...NOBODY ! " "Lorri, I've been doing a bit of checking up on this Jeff Johnson and maybe this isn't such a good idea. The guy's a real bastard; they don't call him 'The Killer' for nothing. He's six feet, six inches tall and weighs around 500 pounds. They say he's as solid as a rock. He's put more people in the hospital than you can imagine. I know you're pissed off, and I don't blame you. But I'm worried about You; I don't want to see you get hurt. I love you too much." Lorri gave the love of Her life a long and passionate kiss. " Thank you, Simon...you really are sweet. But my mind is made up about this. On Friday night, the 'toughest man in the world' and I are going at it head-to-head; and I promise you this... when this is over, there will only be one Woman standing."
