THE THREE ZAMBIAN WOMEN IN NORSELAND by Hamlet PART TWO THE JOURNEY CONTINUES It was 11.30 AM on Monday 1st June as Astrid Ulvaeus the Senior Officer of the Royal Aid Corps (RAC) or the Reginas Hjelpaakorps (RH), drove into the main entrance of Lusaka International Airport. She was accompanied by Grace Musonda the Zambian trainee nurse who was about to fly from Lusaka to begin her three period of study at Silkeborg University In Norseland. Astrid was to accompany her and her two Zambian friends Julie Mubanga and Lois Kaloto for the entire exhausting 29-hour flight from Lusaka to Stefansholm the capital of Norseland. Astrid would be their Supervisor for the whole three-year period of their study.at Silkeborg University where Grace would study Nursing and Healthcare to become a nurse in Zambia. Grace put her arms around Astrid feeling so overjoyed that she had accompanied her throughout the journey from her home in Kitwe and would accompany her throughout her journey to Norseland. She turned to Astrid so full of gratitude and love for her new Supervisor. She spoke to her in Cinyanja knowing that Astrid had worked most of her life as an Aid Worker in Malawi and did not speak Grace's native Cibemba 'Astrid that was a lovely journey and I enjoyed it so much! I spend all my time in Kitwe and I never see the rest of my country!' 'Astrid uwo unali ulendo wokongola ndipo ndimakondwera nawo kwambiri ndimakhala nthawi yanga yonse ku Kitwe ndipo sindinawonenso dziko langa lonse!' 'That's fine Grace I love driving and I have driven thousands of miles across Africa in this land rover. I will really enjoy being your Supervisor.' 'Zili bwino Grace ndimakonda kuyendetsa ndipo ndayendetsa kumayiko aku Africa mozungulira muno. Ndisangalala kwambiri kukhala Woyang'anira wanu.' Astrid liked so impressive in her RAC uniform of a leather hat, a silk cravat, leather jacket, tight leather gloves, leather trousers and shiny black leather boots with her short blonde hair that made her look such an outstanding sight wherever she went. She had worked for most of the five year in the RAC in Malawi sponsoring the RAC's £1 billion aid program where the RAC had overhauled Malawi's infrastructure investing in new roads, schools, hospitals and medical care throughout the country. Astrid had recently moved to Zambia supervising the construction of a £ multimillion hospital in Kitwe one of the most modern and advanced in Africa. Grace had seen an advertisement in the library in Kitwe offering generous bursaries to Zambians to study in Norseland. She decided then to leave her job workimg as a chef in a night club in Kitwe called Monalisas, an exhausting and stressful job which meant she did not get home until 4 AM every morning. She decided to begin a new life in Norseland not knowing exactly where Norseland was thinking like many people it was somewhere in Europe, not realising it was in the Pacific Ocean thousands of miles away from Zambia! Astrid had met Grace at 5AM outside her flat in Garneton on Monday 1st June Garneton lay just north of Kitwe. Grace had made sure she had packed properly and was dressed smartly as Astrid had told her about the extremely strict dress regulations in Norseland and that tee shirts and trainers were strictly forbidden. Grace felt so nervous as she stood before Astrid Although she was a voluptuous BBW she could not match Astrid's 7'2 height and muscular build. 'You are looking really stunning today Grace and you will definitely be admitted to my Nation when we arrive tomorrow at 1.30 PM local time You look gorgeous in that black leather jacket, leather dress those hIgh heeled boots and leather gloves Also you have taken so much trouble with your make up especially that mascara around your eyes Now come in lets go we have to meet Julie and Lois sat the airport at 12 exactly! 'Mukwonago bwino kwambiri Grace lero ndipo mudzavomerezeredwa ku mtundu wanga tikadzabwera mawa nthawi ya 30:30 nthawi yakomwe mudzawoneka okongola muzovala zachikopa zakuda, tavalidwe zachikopa amenewo adakumana ndi zovuta kwambiri ndi zomwe amapanga makamaka mascara kuzungulira maso anu Tsopano bwerani lolowani tikuyenera kukumana ndi Julie ndipo Lois adakhala pa eyapoti pa eyiti ndendende! Astrid then threw her two cases in the back of the land rover and drove off down the road They were soon in the centre of Kitwe which was was Zambia's second largest city . Kitwe relied heavily for its prosperity on copper mining whose presence was visible in the extensive slag heaps on the edge of the city Recently it had seen a resurgence due to the rises in the value of copper on the world market and was now a thriving city with plenty of amenities. . Astrid drove through the centre of the city down Independence Avenue turning left in the direction of Ndola She turned onto a side road at Fissinge with a speed of 130 KPH and was soon hitting the T3 the main highway between Ndola and the capital Lusaka. Leaving Copperbelt Province she approached KapIri Mposhi a busy junction town where Astrid stopped briefly to allow Grace to use the toilets and to buy a coffee Astrid went speeding down the Great North road exceeding the speed limit in her superb RAC land rover and was soon in Kabwe that lay just 124 KMS north of Lusaka. She hit the accelerator as she was now exceeding 140 KPH until she was on the outskirts of Lusaka, the airport lay 25 KMS to the east of the city She headed down the Great North Road and then turned left down Katima Mulolo Road taking the signposts to Rufusa until she was on the Great East Road Within 20 minutes, she was inside the airport car park arriving early at 11.30 am 'Come on Grace take your cases We need to get to the departure area I have contacted Julie and Lois and they will be waiting for us in there.' 'Bwerani Grace mutenge milandu yanu Tifunika kupita ku malo omwe ndalumikizana ndi Julie ndi Lois ndipo akutiyembekezera kumeneko.' 'Yes certainly Astrid!' 'Inde zedi Astrid!
