I had a blitz on copyright infringement for the "Amy's Conquest" web site. We were getting every illustrated story being posted for free, almost as soon as it was being put up on the site. That means there's less to pay the artists who create the material.
It went well, and if there's still any infringing material from there on the internet, it's hidden so deeply that hardly anyone will be able to find it, which means it's not a big problem now.
I don't want to give too many details about how we went about it, for obvious reasons, but broadly, we first identified who was doing the uploading, and dealt with them, and then we used DMCA takedowns to remove infringing material from where it was being stored. There was a bit of whack-a-mole at first, but we eventualy prevailed.
I checked the site statistics that Sandra counts up each night.
At the end of May 2012, there were about 1,373,000 pictures (267 gigabytes), 427 gigabytes of video, 14130 text files (mostly stories) and a total of about 696 gigabytes. There's about 535 million pictures altogether in Newsthumbs, increasing at about 5 million per month.
