Since the swap-out, I've had four servers with problems. I think some of the memory sticks have worn out.

I checked the site statistics that Sandra counts up each night.
At the end of February 2012, there were about 1,363,000 pictures (263 gigabytes), 422 gigabytes of video, 14060 text files (mostly stories) and a total of about 686 gigabytes. There's about 525 million pictures altogether in Newsthumbs, increasing at about 5 million per month.
