No snow this year, indeed a very warm January, so much so that I saw daffodils flowering in London.

January 3, we had very strong winds, a tree got blown over a power line, and so I had a power cut. It lasted for a few hours, so my UPSes weren't able to keep things going. But that didn't affect my main server farm in Cheltenham, so I don't think there was any customer impact.
But it meant that I had to spend several hours bringing everything back up properly.

I checked the site statistics that Sandra counts up each night.
At the end of January 2012, there were about 1,359,000 pictures (261 gigabytes), 421 gigabytes of video, 13960 text files (mostly stories) and a total of about 681 gigabytes. There's about 515 million pictures altogether in Newsthumbs, increasing at about 5 million per month.
