A hard man is good to beat

October

Late summer in England, the trees show their fruit, the flowers put on their last efforts before the coming frosts, and a Valkyrie goes on an 11-day cruise in the Canary Isles.

Shopping Mall

From September 11th, until December 31st, 2001, any payments made to me in buying videos from the:

will be donated 100% to the International Red Cross, in honour of the many thousands that died in New York.

There's a new video in the Kasie Cavanough shop, Christmas Crush. Eddie, the Toy Dwarf Superintendent halts toy production. Kasie Claus won't let the world's children be disappointed so Eddie becomes a petite prisoner of her powerful thighs. Kasie squeezes her miniature elf like he's a little stuffed boy toy!

Servers

After the major move of September, not much happened. I brought the last few computers back from Maryland, added twins to some of the computers that hadn't been twinned before (so that if the main one fails, I can switch very rapidly to the twin). Since the hope is that I won't actually have to use the twins, it's not something folks should notice.

I changed the server for the older NewsThumbs to the one that was running the main Newsthumbs a year ago. It's an IBM Netfinity, and seems very stable. The server I had before on the Older Newsthumbs was failing about once per week, not too terrible, but far from ideal. And no good at all for when I'm going to be away for a week!

I've got a new server for the latest Newsthumbs, a beautiful piece of hardware. Two Pentium 1000s, 2 gigabytes of memory, built-in SCSI, ethernet and video, which means that I can put the whole thing in a 1U box (1 3/4 inches high). I need to conserve space as much as possible in my rack at Watford.

While I was on vacation, all the servers ran smoothly, which was very pleasing. I had each server with a backup to switch to, just in case, but those weren't needed.

Spams of the Month

Parents!

You are in the best position to solve your child's behavior or school
problems, and I can teach you how to do it! Looking for fresh ideas for
managing your children and solving behavior or school problems?

Hmmm. Sounds good. But wil it work with web site members?

WIN BIG FOR CHRISTMAS

That arrived October 8th. The Christmas season has started already.

This really worked for me

AS SEEN ON NATIONAL TV:

Making over half million dollars every 4 to 5 months from your home.

Yeah, right. You make a million dollars per year. And you're still sending out spam. The scary thing is, there must be some folks who fall for this.

Wrinkles have disappeared from my hands and around my eyes; my beard, which
was almost entirely white has returned to its original black color; sleep patterns have
returned to those of my youth, I have sexually returned to my mid-teens.

You know, if you made a realistic claim for your product, like "Made me feel a lot more energetic" I might believe it. But it turned your beard black?

Animal Lovers Go To The Extreme!

Now maybe you think that this is a web site where people show off their pet whale, or their pet herd of buffalo. But it isn't.

Where others say NO, we say YES!!!

Sounds like my kinda guy ...

$2000 Weekly Possible Stuffing Envelopes at Home!!

Let's see, that's $100,000 per year. I'm in the wrong business, I need to get stuffing.

Sponsorships

We currently have eight running; Nicole Bass, Andrulla Blanchette, Sheila Burgess, Christine Envall, Marilyn Perret, Julia Santana, Peggy Schoolcraft, Larisa Hakobyan and the Iron Valkyrie.

We're also sponsoring individual events, and funding athletes to go to events with grant dollars.

We sponsored Kim Callier to go to the 2001 Junior World Powerlifing competition in Sofia. Kim won the 2001 USAPL Collegiate National championship in the 148 lb weight class.

Understanding the Internet - Protection From Web Site Abuse

A funny thing happened to me recently when I was entering Alley Baggett, Cori Nadine and Angel Teves into my favourite search engine, seeking web sites which carry their photos (I have an intense weakness for women with Filipino/Pacific Islander lurking in their respective gene pools, but that's neither here nor there :)

The search engine dutifully trotted out a motley collection of sites which specialise in celebrity thumbnail pictures. There was nothing the least bit offensive about the primary subject matter of these sites - celebrity photos, the vast majority of which were clothed rather than nude.

These sites, some more than others, had all of the cheesy low-rent gimmickery you'd expect to find on the worst porn sites out there; flickering neon sign style banner ads and pop-ups. Gobs of pop-ups! I was swatting flies all over the place! ("Swatting flies" is a term I use to describe chasing close (X) buttons of pop-ups all over the screen with my cursor). One of these was the official-looking grey download pop-up with the picture of a PC, which assumed that I desired to download "Gator" (which I didn't).

One particular celeb thumbnail picture site, whose URL I won't divulge because these cretins don't deserve the free advertising, seems to have a predatory huckster philosophy far worse than any bottom feeding porn site which specialises in aging peroxide-blonde battleaxes who do oral sex on large mammals of whatever species.

Without asking me first, this particular site REPLACED my original Internet Explorer Home Page setting of TheValkyrie.com with their own, a full-screen pop-up with a weird URL (http:// followed by a series of digits and decimal points). This means that every time I boot up my PC and access my home page, I would automatically get that pop-up which would invite in all of its rogue friends - a bunch of smaller pop-ups! Not only that, four different porn sites were added to my Favourites Menu!

I had to go into Internet Preferences to restore my original IE Home Page setting and delete the four newest entries in my Favourites Menu. I would've appreciated being asked first if I wanted any of my browser settings changed!

What's the matter with these people? Are they just plain stupid and abjectly ignorant of human nature? I've NEVER willingly conducted business with a merchant who treated me with such contempt and disrespect right up front!

Have YOU?!

Maybe they're playing a numbers game - rub a pile of crap into enough people's noses and, by the law of averages, they're bound to find one or two who are so head-over-heels in love with what the site offers that these new users, lacking any self-respect whatsoever, won't mind the abuse.

The crying shame is that these people DO have a fairly decent repertoire of celebrity thumbnail pictures despite their infuriating (beyond annoying) web site design and philosophy.

I will return to that site, but not without the protection of an ally called "SafeWeb". The URL is ...

Log onto that site and enter the URL of any questionable site into SafeWeb's address bar. It blocks pop-ups and keeps cookies and other stupid stuff off of your harddrive. I've used it. It works like a charm and I highly recommend it. The SafeWeb home page explains everything.

Happy SAFE web surfing!

Hugs,

AdT :)

Female bodybuilders is way ahead of every other board. Jabber has regained his form, posting almost as many times as the next three people combined.

Back Page

Maybe you already knew about it, but I only just recently discovered The Onion. It's brilliant, it pokes fun at everything, from poker-faced politicians with an exaggerated idea of their own importance, all the way to "Just for kids" - where does bacon come from?

I checked the site statistics that Sandra counts up each night.

At the end of October 2001, there were about 409,000 pictures (21 gigabytes), 57 gigabytes of video, 5100 text files (mostly stories) and a total of about 78 gigabytes.

On Vnews, the Current Newsthumbs server, there's the NewsThumbs, which is 2.9 million pictures in 200 gigabytes and 5 million text files, a total of 212 gigabytes.

Newsthumbs is now 80 million files, 2.1 terabytes. We might just get to 100 million files by the end of this year.

There's now four newsthumbs servers.
