The Library

A few new Bookshelves as authors prove themselves not just one-shots. And people have told me they like the new organisation of the Library compare to the old way. I guess this will keep happening; as a section of the web site expands way beyond all expectations, I have to find a way to keep it under control so people can find things.

So now there's a few ways to find what you want. You can look for your favourite authors, you can look at the "what's new" links (Sandra makes those each and every day, between 4am and 5am EST, when you're tucked up in your nice little bed (or in whoever's bed you happen to be tucked up in). Or you can ask Sandra to search the library for keywords.

Languages

The non-English sections have been growing fast. I would say that most people are reasonably happy reading English, but some are not, and when you're reading to relax and have fun, it's nice to read the in the language your mother taught you. So, we have stories in French, German, Italian and Spanish now, with more arriving all the time. Portuguese for example. And I now have my main page in French and German. But I don't plan to do any other pages in translation; keeping them up to date with the English version would just be too much work.

New Stories

Montrose has written another brutal story, and this time it's illustrated. HTML is all the rage now; you write your story, then you pick some pictures from the web site to illustrate it. Plus, he's got all your favourite characters; poor little Officer Steve, unpleasant Red, sweet Nurse Lucy and the appalling Grizzly whose idea of enjoyment consists of - well, I'll let you read it for yourself.

And Dragon has done another story about Elaine, the capitalist boxer. It's a rematch, and this time he's trained, fit and ready. I won't tell you how it goes, but it's thoroughly recommended by the Valkyrie.

News from the Newsgroup

Masses and masses of pictures.

The Message Boards

A couple of guys posted abusive messages to Heather Fine. People, I go to a lot of trouble to persuade people like Nicole Bass, Heather Fine and Gretchen Stipp to chat with you, and I'm not prepared to see a few fools spoil the fun of the majority of people who are nice, sensible and polite.

So I changed things - the Valkyrie will protect her menfolk. On the Message Boards where you're in conversation with named bodybuilders or wrestlers, only Members will be allowed. And your Web Site user-id will be posted with each message, which will stop people from pretending to be someone else, and will stop people from being able to post anonymously (the refuge of cowardly abusers). And if anyone misbehaves and spoils other people's enjoyment, I'll ban them from the conversational Message Boards.

I've persuaded Nicole Bass to come back to her Message Board. And people had better behave properly!

Chat

There's a second chat session scheduled. This will be with Nicole Bass, once per week on Wednesdays at 8pm EST (unless she's competing or something like that). You can ask her about her competing plans, about the wrestling sessions, about diet, training, whatever.

Movies

The big news is, I've started doing my own digitisations. That is, taking a video on tape, and making a file out of it. I think I can do this now with pretty much any tape; PAL or NTSC, and quite a variety of camcorders. And I can make AVI, MOV and MPG files. I can also make CD Roms with pictures, video or audio on.

The first thing I need to do, is establish a standard. The big questions are, should the standard be AVI or MPG? And what size window, 160 by 120, or 320 by 240, or something else? And if MPG, what level of compression? So I made five versions of the same clip, and I think the answer is MPG, 320 by 240, using compression to 512kbps, which is 64 kb per second, which means that a minute is 3.8 mb. More compression gives a very poor picture, small windows look poor.

I suppose I could do multiple version of each clip, but that's going to be tedious, and too many people will download them all and then be frustrated.

The decision hasn't been made yet, though. That's why I'm asking what people think. Of course, even when I've got a standard, I don't have to stick to it all the time. If a clip looks worth five minutes instead of one, then I can use a quarter-size window, for example.

Well, there's been a warning on the Movies page that I'll probably be going for MPEG. If you haven't got a viewer for that yet, get one soon. Net_Toob seems to be good, but there are plenty of others, either very cheap or free.

See the Andrulla Blanchette training video clips. Eight minutes of muscle; training and posing.

Artwork

There's a new artist around; Joe Rathbun. Joe writes about and draws the Central Mountain women. And I'm not going to tell you any more, except read his stories, look at his artwork, and visit his web site.

Back Page

Thanks to everyone who wished me a good vacation. As you probably, I did a boatload of new galleries and stuff before I left, to keep you all busy. So by the time I went away, I was really needing a holiday!

Later ... I'm back! A lovely golden colour - toasted Valkyrie. And while I was away, I made plans, had ideas ... Valkyries don't make promises about the future, but I've already announced the first Diana the Valkyrie FBB sponsorship. See details on the web site.
