INTRO ~
I did a lot of
research to keep the more realistic elements consistent. I wish that
the big climax could've been more...I dunno...spectacular. But then
again, I could just say that the real climax will be in the next and
last chapter. I never expected it to be this long, but that's all well
and fine. It's best to flesh out the details anyway. What we will get
to see is the extent of Silvia and Fugara's potential. Some may find it
extreme, others might wish there was more to it. I've seen far greater
extremes than this, but I wanted to try to keep it within the
believable radar. Enjoy!
Chapter
VII: Destiny's Path
As sunlight
crept over the horizon, Zephram got up
to wake the others.
"Well
that sure helped." Fugara said as she got up and stretched her whole
body, though in the process her wings accidentally knocked over a
cabinet with several movies in it, causing it to crash onto the floor.
"Oh Zephram, I'm
sorry!" Fugara pleaded.
But Zephram hardly
cared at this point, "Meh, it's alright."
But one movie fell further away from the small pile than the others,
and it caught Zephram's
attention. He leaned over and picked it up and smiled.
"You
know, I think it's amazing that this movie right here is the reason
we're still alive. And it's also the reason we are able to save
everyone else." Zephram
commented.
Silvia walked over, saw the movie, and recognized it. She's seen it
before herself in her previous life as a normal cat.
"Indeed. Who would have thought that you could make the premise of this
movie a reality, eh?" Silvia added.
Fugara was curious as to what movie they were talking about. Zephram held it
up for her to see and she couldn't help but grin.
"The Island of
Dr. Moreau. It certainly
seems appropriate given the circumstances." Fugara said.
After tossing the movie back with the others, Zephram walked
into the next room.
"Before we go, there's one more thing I'd like to check." Zephram said as
he turned on his TV.
But there were no active channels, only static.
"It's
as I feared. Even the news is no longer available. I don't know how
many people are left in this world, but we better hurry." Zephram urged.
The two ladies nodded in agreement as Zephram grabbed
two small containers and gave one to Silvia.
"This
container is sealed. The only way to open it is by ripping it in half.
The cure is in airborne form floating around inside. Once it is
released, it will begin self replicating at a fast rate as it spreads
across the world with the help of the global air currents. You have the
guardian spirits to thank for that. Whatever you do, please be careful
with it until
you've reached your destination." Zephram
instructed.
"Sure thing." Silvia said.
"Can you please give us a moment Fugara?" Zephram asked.
"Sure." she said as she went inside.
Zephram
walked over and puts his hands around Silvia's waist, "My love, don't
forget about what we spoke about the other night. When this is over, I
hope we can settle down together and start the very first family of
anthros."
Silvia grinned, "Oh don't you worry about that right
now. If anything, I'd be more worried about what I'm going to do with
you once you come back. Family can come later. I still have some
unfinished mating to do with you, remember?"
Zephram blushed as
he felt his blood rise to his cheeks. The thought of him and this
megamuscled amazon feline babe going another round in the sack...it can
only get better! The two kissed warm and lovingly.
"I love you." Zephram said simply.
"And I love you." Silvia answered.
As if on cue, Fugara came back out of the house carrying a pair of
goggles.
"Oh good, you found them." Zephram said.
Fugara held out a second pair and tossed it to Zephram, "Here.
Luckily, you had two pairs of them. And trust me, you'll need these if
you want to see."
Zephram
caught it and put it on. He felt a bit silly, like he was going to fly
a small plane. Of course, he'll be flying on something much more
powerful and faster if Fugara's demonstration of her flight ability is
any indication.
"Alright, this is it! Ready everyone?" Zephram asked.
Silvia slipped her pair back on and did a couple quick stretches, loosening up her immensely powerful legs. Zephram
allowed himself one more good look at his love and her wonderful
muscles before he left. He wasn't sure how long this would take, but
one thing was certain: humanity would survive, if only in another form.
"Um, Zephie?" Silvia asked.
"Yes Silvie?" Zephram answered.
She had a confused look on her face, "Um, how do I get to the north pole?"
Zephram slapped his hand to his forehead, "Oh crap, you're right. All this planning and..."
But Fugara interrupted, "It's alright. I took care of that."
Zephram nor Silvia understood what she meant. But as if on cue, two glowing forms appeared in front of them. Zephram was never keen on the supernatural, but after everything he has experienced thus far, his faith extended much further.
As
if to answer the question she knew was coming, Fugara spoke up,
"They're nature spirits. For many ages they have existed among us,
observing. After everything mankind has done over the years, they have
chosen not to be seen by them. But in light of what's happening, they
have finally decided to help us once again. They know the planet more
than anyone. And because they exist on a different plane, they aren't
restricted by the laws of physics. Which means they will guide us to
our destinations and easily be able to keep up. In other words, follow
the light."
The two spirits floated randomly around the yard, as
if waiting for them to depart. Other than being able to see them, they
made no sound. Silvia found them a little creepy, but brushed it off.
"I'm
sure I don't need to warn you both that the poles will be very cold. I
don't know how well our new furs, or in your case Fugara feathers, will
protect you from such temperature extremes. But we must succeed. We
have little time and the world population is rapidly diminishing." Zephram said.
With
nothing else being said, Silvia walked up to one of the nature spirits,
which hovered in place in front of her. The other one floated over to Zephram and Fugara.
"Good luck Silvia." Fugara said.
"Same to you Fugara. And you two my mate. I'll see you again soon." Silvia answered.
Zephram
watched as Silvia's spirit guide started to move off. She bent down and
sprung forward as she took off through the edge of the yard and out of
sight. After all that has happened, the time had finally arrived. Zephram walked up next to Fugara.
"Alright, I'm ready." Zephram said, gesturing at Fugara's heavily muscled back.
Fugara opened up her wings, exposing her back and shoulders. Zephram
climbed on and got a firm grip on her shoulders. As Fugara turned to
face the nature spirit that waited for them, she turned her head
towards Zephram.
"Hey,
I know how awkward this must sound, but you'd better wrap your arms
around my chest and lock your hands together." Fugara recommended.
Zephram
felt himself blushing a bit. While he'd be lying if he said he didn't
feel an additional level of arousal at Fugara's colossal body, he still
felt a bit hesitant about putting his hands together above her breasts.
Fugara could sense his hesitation, "Oh relax, just do it!"
Zephram
took a deep breath and climbed on her back. He put his hands around her
chest and put them together in place above her breasts. As if out of
nowhere, Fugara took his hands, separated them and put them directly
over her nipples. This surprised Zephram to say the least.
"What the!?" Zephram yelped.
But
Fugara smiled a bit, "Oh please. We're anthros now. Who's to say we
have to follow the age old decency laws associated with mankind. Look,
I may be a shaman, but I'm not stupid. You're turned on by female
muscles, plain and simple. I see how much you fawn over Silvia. You'd
be riding on her back if it served a better purpose. Anyway, just get
it out of your system. Feel me up nice and good. Because once I reach a
good altitude, we're speed off until I hit my maximum velocity. And
believe me, I'm certain that the only thing going through your head is
the need to hold on for dear life!"
Zephram was blushing heavily. Some things still didn't make much sense to him now that he was
an anthro. But since his hands were now suddenly right on her breasts,
he let himself feel the firmness of Fugara's breasts. It was clear that
her breasts were right up against her pecs, so they certainly felt
firm. And her nipples...oh my god! He could feel them becoming erect!
If he didn't know any better, he could almost swear that Fugara was
attracted to him! But before he could say anything, Fugara's wings beat
powerfully as they lifted rapidly into the air, the nature spirit
soundlessly flying just ahead of her. As the spirit flew in the
opposite direction from the first, all thoughts left Zephram's
mind as he quickly put his hands back in place above her breasts and
held on tight. Fugara's body felt incredibly strong and her wings
generated an amazing amount of thrust, helping her pick up speed at a
substantially accelerated rate!
* * *
She
plowed through the brushes and crashed through the trees after the
nature spirit, her mighty muscled legs propelling her at speeds faster
than a cheetah in an open plain. Silvia was quickly getting
frustrated with all of the obstacles in her path. She wasn't anywhere
near the speed she discovered before. And as long as she's following
what could only be the nature spirit's idea of the straightest path to
her destination, she wouldn't be able to get anywhere near her maximum.
She looked at the floating spirit, which was unaffected by the physical matter than Silvia was, "Say, any chance of leading me along the open highways and landscapes wherever possible?"
She
wasn't sure the spirit would understand her request, but sure enough it
changed course as Silva shifted to follow. After a few more miles of
plowing through forest, she finally reached the highway where there
were hardly any vehicles left on the road. This was good for her since
it just meant fewer obstacles to potentially get in her way.
"Now this is more like it! Time to see what these legs can do!" Silvia shouted in relief.
She
began increasing her speed quite rapidly. So much so, that for a
moment, she overtook the spirit in front of her. But just as quickly as
it occured, the spirit increased its own speed to match and soon
enough, it was back out in front. Her legs were moving so fast that
they were now a blur as the sight of the road in front of her made it
look like a video of a car, driving down the highway at 75 MPH, playing
in fast motion. The feeling of power was immense and even euphoric as
Silvia's adrenalin ran high. After a couple more minutes, Silvia could
once again feel the air resistance increasing and the sound entering
her ears decreasing. After a sudden quick booming sound, all was quiet
to her once again. She knew she had just crossed the sound barrier. She
managed to push her speed a little further until she was blazing along
the road at roughly 800 MPH! She had to concentrate, since turns would
be very difficult to make at this velocity. That and she was completely
dependent on the spirit which easily matched her speed in front of her,
not knowing if and when it would lead her off the main roads. She could
feel the heat from the friction she was generating in the air around
her. She hoped she could keep up her speed all the way there, since it
would be very cold at the North Pole.
* * *
Zephram held
on tight as Fugara flapped her wings more powerfully than fast, with
several seconds between each as she let her aerodynamic frame coast
along the air she was riding on. Zephram
was relieved to discover that he didn't have to hold on as tight as he
thought he did. But he wasn't ready to assume the best just yet. They
had only just crossed the sound barrier themselves, and she was still
gaining speed fast! It was impossible now to speak since all sound was
unable to reach her ears, let alone Fugara's. All he could do was brace
himself for what was no doubt speeds well in excess of a thousand MPH!
Every few minutes, an unlucky bird happened to be in Fugara's path as
she practically vaporized it with her rockhard body. The air around the
two was beginning to heat up as Fugara's wings moved impossible fast
with each flap, giving them even more speed!
Zephram
found himself automatically tightening his grip around Fugara as his
survival instincts took hold. He was scared of how fast they were
going, and he wouldn't deny it. Pretty soon everything around him
within a few miles was moving past him like a blur. He had seen shows
of jets being filmed at sonic speeds, but to actually experience it was
something else. He felt confident that they would reach the South Pole
in no time, and they were still accelerating!
* * *
Silvia
had reached her top speed of just past the sound barrier as she
continued her longest and fastest run, in her entire life, nearly
halfway across the world. So far, the spirit has managed to lead her on
the highways still. She had her senses up at maximum as she took every
turn as tight as she could. At once point, she came up to a set of cars
that were side by side. Regrettably, she couldn't dodge them and plowed
right between them, sending the vehicles catapulting off to the sides
of the road where they rolled down the embankment. With no way to tell
if the drivers were ok, Silvia could only maintain her speed.
Accelerating took a lot of strength to do, and thus slowing down was
not an option.
Up ahead, she saw another turn in the road. She
was ready to turn into it. But the spirit, which kept a long enough
distance in front of her to give her sufficient reaction time, kept
going straight and onto a field. Silvia resigned herself to the
inevitable and plowed through the railing that ran along the road to
follow it. She realized how far she had gotten when she saw snow on the
ground. This would make turning a lot harder without losing control of
herself. And it would be one hell of a crash should she make that
critical slip. She could only hope that the nature spirit knew this as
well as she continued onward in a relatively straight line.
* * *
Fugara and Zephram had reach Mach 2 and was closing in on Mach 3. Zephram
no longer took anything for granted as he now held on for dear life.
Breathing had become difficult and the temperature surrounding them was
really hot. There was no doubt that Fugara was affected by this too,
but continued still to pick up a little more speed. She was determined
to reach her absolute limit and this was as good a time as any! And
while neither of them knew exactly how fast they were going, Fugara got
her wish as she had now surpassed 2,500 MPH and had hit Mach 3! She
smiled a bit as she realized she had reached her limit. Her wings were
beating in a pattern that made any further acceleration impossible now.
Yet at the same time, she struggled to breathe. This was unfortunate as
it meant she would be forced to drop her speed considerably before
making a mistake in her flying that would send them crashing violently
out of supersonic speed. The kinetic forces could very well tear them
apart, despite their greatly increased musculatures.
Fortunately,
luck was on their side as they started passing over the Southern Ocean.
They knew they were almost there. Fugara could no longer maintain this
speed and carefully slowed down to subsonic speeds. And while the
temperature around their bodies remained warm, they knew that as
soon as the dropped to slower speeds, it was going to get really cold
really fast. Since they were no longer past the sound barrier, they
could at last communicate again.
"Alright, we're almost there.
Once we cross over Antarctica, the winds are going to really pick up. I
can already feel the turbulence from the air currents. So be careful at
this point and hold on tight. I'm going to stay closer to the surface
at this point." Fugara said.
The nature spirit silently kept
ahead of them as the southernmost continent of Antarctica loomed
rapidly into view. And sure enough, no sooner did they pass over
land, did the winds start to rapidly pick up. Fugara would have to
decrease her speed even more to stay stable.
* * *
Silvia
was closing in on her destination as she reached the ice covered Arctic
ocean. She had no choice but to slow down considerably as the nature
spirit lead her over the thickest concentrations of ice. She could only
hope that the spirit knew where to go to avoid her falling into the
freezing water. The temperature had dropped considerably, and she was
now relying on her fur coat to keep her warm. Coupled with her dense
muscles, it was sufficient for the time being. But if these winds were
any indication, she would have little time to release the cure into the
air before she started freezing.
At last, the spirit slowed down
until it finally came to a stop. She made it! She found herself panting
as her body's exhaustion caught up with her. After taking a minute to
catch her breath, Silvia looked up and saw some polar bears walking
around, but they only looked at her briefly before moving on. As the
spirit settled over a single spot, Silva pulled out the canister she
had attached to her back. This was it, this single moment that would
change the entire world. She walked up to the spirit and stood in the
same spot. All of a sudden, Silvia could see visions of other places
throughout the world. She then saw Fugara and Zephram from their guiding spirits point of view. They looked to be slowing down as they descended to the surface.
As soon as Fugara touched down, Zephram
was quick to jump off her and was all too happy to be back on land. Not
that he was afraid of flying, but because his whole body was very stiff
from holding on to Fugara the whole way. After taking a couple minutes
to stretch, Zephram
at last got back up and rejoined Fugara as they followed the nature
spirit to a spot where it hovered in place. It suddenly began to glow
brighter and larger, enough to encompass them both. Fugara knew what to
do as she walked into the center of that light as Zephram
followed suit. He pulled out his canister and clutched it in front of
him. As soon as both stood in the space the spirit was occupying, they
could suddenly see visions of various world locales. Their spirits
lifted as they saw that there were still many humans left in the world.
They all seemed to be waiting. Whether it was to die or to live, hinged
on this moment. The vision then shifted to Silvia, who seemed to be
looking right at them. Could it be?
"Silvia?" Zephram asked.
Silvia's face lit up, "Hey, I can hear you! I'm so glad to see you again! I've reached the North Pole!"
Zephram
couldn't help but smile at the sight of his beloved, "I'm happy to see
you as well. We too have reached the South Pole. But we'll have to talk
about the trip later. Are you ready to release the cure?"
"Yes I am." Silvia said as she held the canister up.
Zephram
turned to Fugara, who bowed her head. He could feel the winds blowing
fiercely all around him, knowing that it was set up by the spirits of
the Earth themselves, "Well Fugara, here we go. On the count of
three..."
Zephram: "One!"
Silvia: "Two!"
Fugara: "Three!"
Zephram
and Silvia both broke open the canisters and held the two halves above
their heads. They appeared to be empty. But in reality, billions of
self replicating gene resequencers filled the air, multiplying even
further at an substantially accelerated rate, and were instantly picked
up by the global air currents and carried off to all four corners of
the globe. No sooner did they complete their task, did the lights of
the nature spirits began to pulsate.
Fugara broke the triumphant
silence, "Alright, we must go before the temperatures begin to badly
affect us. Silvia, your nature spirit will lead you back home. We'll be
doing the same."
"Understood. And Zephram, I'll be seeing you soon my love." Silvia cooed.
"I very much look forward to it my mate." Zephram said as the image of Silvia vanished and the spirit began to move away from them.
"It'll take several hours before the cure fully affects what's left of the world population. So let's go home and rest." Zephram said.
Fugara summoned up all the strength she could muster as Zephram
climbed back on. She took to the air, but this time they could take
their time heading home. The hardest part was flying out of the
Antarctic region. The cold had begun to penetrate their muscles and
both started to shiver a bit. Fugara still had to move fast at first so they could get out of the cold climate sooner, but she
knew she wouldn't be able to fly at her previous velocities this time. Zephram
had faith that she could make it. After all, she was almost as densely
muscled as Silvia. The spirit led the way back of course. But this time, they took in
the scenery around them along the way. While it was a fascinating sight
for both of them, they both silently agreed not to visit here ever again. And if Zephram knew Silvia, she would agree to that as well.
Silvia
herself was really feeling the burn now. She had begun to notice just
how far
she had to run now that she was no longer running for everyone's lives.
It would definitely be a marathon that she'll never forget. But what
did excite her was that once she got some good rest, there was no doubt
her legs would be stronger than before; as if those speed pillars
weren't already strong enough. The spirit efficiently led her over the
thickest sections of ice until silvia at last cleared the Arctic Ocean
and was back on solid land once again. From there on, it would be
smooth sailing at last. All that went through her mind, as she felt
constant wind blowing by her in different directions and all at heavy
speeds, was how long it would be until the cure took full effect.
Come to think of it, she was in the perfect position to potentially witness a few of those transformations. She figured that Zephram
and Fugara would no doubt arrive home first and that they would assume
she would take longer getting home. So she decided to take a short
detour to see if the cure has indeed reached this far inland already.
The nature spirit on the other hand, didn't agree with her decision to
secretly stop for a bit and promptly engulfed her once again linking
her up with Zephram and Fugara, who were just as surprised to have their guide encompass them.
It was Fugara who spoke up, "Oh hey Silvia. Is something wrong?"
Silvia
wasn't very pleased with being forced into this. But all the same, she
wanted to see at least a couple transformations firsthand before
returning home.
"I want to see a couple people transform into anthros. I'm curious to see what animal form they take." she said.
Zephram
responded, "Hmmm, now that you mention it, I think that would be a nice
idea. But just try to stick to public areas, like a park or something.
Don't go into anyone's home, ok?"
"Sure thing. Same goes for you too sugar!" Silvia said with a wink.
Zephram chuckled, "Oh please, I'm no voyeur."
After their communication ended, Fugara turned her head to look at Zephram, "Yeah right! You could've fooled me!"
Zephram just smiled back, "Come on, let's go witness the birth of a new world!"
