The Friendly Mixed Boxing Match by Da Freak A dare leads to another case of power V finesse and female V male It started out in conversation. Jenny was working out in the weight room as I was. She asked me, what I was doing. I told her getting in shape to take up a new sport ... boxing. She laughed. The conversation continued and she wound up challenging me to an interweight intersex battle. I told her that I had no previous experience but someone was going to come over and show me some stuff. I also told her sure. I was a bit of an adrenaline junky and frankly the shear risk I found appealing. I figured it would be a battle of power versus finesse. Jenny was a hoss. She outweighed me by 80 to 100 lbs. I had always considered Jenny somewhat attractive she was well endowed muscular with a fair bit of flab. She was shy initially yet could be friendly. The fight was a friendly dare we would be friends before and after. She even offered that we train together. I accepted. We even started eating and working out together. She of course out lifted me. We agreed to fight 3- minute rounds and since this was not official we would make it six rounds. The longer length would allow me a chance to win if I could make it to the later rounds. She understood. We agreed to have the fight in three weeks and use 8-oz gloves. We worked out three times a week in the weight room. She definitely had the power advantage on me. She was trying to tone a bit but maintain some endurance. I was trying to gain a little speed and maintain mine. We also watched fights on TV in her room. We made comments about them. She was a self-admitted slugger. I would have to be a boxer against her. She would be dangerous till the count of ten or the third knockdown. We did not share specific strategies but while watching the fights it became obvious how each of us would be different. My friend came in and he showed me some footwork. We also did some light sparring to make sure I was not glove shy. He told me that if she would take me on she must not have that many fights under her belt. He got a laugh about the incoming battle between Jenny and me. He showed me some footwork and he refined my punching technique. He told me that I had a good grasp of the basics. He emphasized that I would have to move around. He wanted me to practice. The fight would occur on Saturday in Beeville. Her house would be lodging and she would provide the drive. I packed up the Friday and she drove in front of my dorm to pick me up. I walked up and put my gear in the back of her truck as I climbed into the cab. She asked me if I was nervous. I told her "heck yeah! You have more power then I do and you can level me in one punch frankly I think you will win." She said "If you move and keep moving you are going to lay my fat ass out." I told her "Yeah I think this fight can go either way that is what makes it interesting." The drive was long and I got sick of young country quickly. I joked: I would have one motivating reason to beat her up. The conversation wound back to the fight. She responded "Not if put your lights out the first punch." I replied "You can't hit what you can't catch." We laughed about it. We arrived after four hours on the road. I would spend the night at her house in her brother's room. Dinner Friday night consisted of steaks that her dad cooked over a mesquite fire. The house was homey yet I liked it. Jenny had a hard time finding people who would fight her. She had a couple bouts in the gym under her belt but that was it. Her folks were glad that I was willing to go in the ring with her. I told them that I had never been accused of being in sane. Her folks were friendly. I hardly slept that night. Breakfast was served one egg toast and juice. Following breakfast we endured the wait. We hung out in her living room for a while and tried to keep the butterflies in our stomach's form going crazy. Then it was time to go to the gym. We both boarded her truck and she drove. There was dead silence in it as we drove. Finally we got to the gym. I looked at her and said "In about an hour I may start regretting this as we try to bash each other's face in but good luck." She looked at me and her arms out stretched hugged me and said "Good luck also" I was directed to the men's dressing room. I put on the protective gear kidney guard. Someone helped fit my mouthpiece. Following the mouthpiece came the trunks hand wrap and finally the gloves. Finally the gloves were put on. I was really nervous knowing that frankly the odds were against me. I did get a perverse thrill out of it though. The time came I was led to the ring and there was Jenny. We were given instructions and told to touch gloves and at the sound of the bell come out fighting. The bell rang and for some reason I almost leapt out of the corner at her. She was stunned. I threw a left jab and it connected. I threw it at maximum range using my slight reach advantage. I back pedaled fearing a reprisal. She slowly followed me around the ring for a few seconds. I was careful not to get cut off into a corner. I moved in again fired a quick left and right missing with the right. I backed away again. I had only phased her a tiny bit. The round was still young. Once again I cautiously closed and fired a left jab. I was too predictable and Wham I got nailed right in the face. I was dazed and I backpedaled. I backpedaled rapidly. I was quickly out of range and was determined to stay there till I got my head back. Jenny started coming at me faster and I back pedaled. I luckily avoided getting caught into a corner. My head came back after about twenty seconds. I came on the attack and fired a couple jabs to her stomach both of them hit. My follow up right missed I backed off in a hurry. She continued stalking me. I came back in again fired a quick left that she caught in the arm and backpedaled. She stalked me the round must have been boring to watch. The pattern was established. I was the hunted and she was the hunter. Near the end I nailed by a hard shot to the stomach by her. I had missed and she took full advantage. I went back to the corner with the air knocked out of me. The advice I got was simple "One of her shots is about three or more of yours keep her chasing you I know right now what you are doing keep it up. Just to do more of it. Try more body shots tire her out faster and she won't hit as hard" I nodded trying to breathe in some air. This was going to be a long battle. The bell rang: I went for a hit and run attack. I fired a couple shots to her stomach and backed off. I lowered my guard and let her pursue me. I then went in for another couple shots. I tagged her she slid her guard down and I caught her arms and backed off again. I was moving all the time having felt some of her power I did not like it. I moved this time, she had a surprise waiting for me. A straight right nailed me before I got my shot off and next thing I knew I was on the canvas. I got up and took a standing eight. She smiled a bit. I was dazed and she came in I backed away hoping not to get caught in a corner because if that happened I would gone in a hurry. I dropped my guard and started her chasing me around the ring at an increased rate. I was trying to clear my head. I was hurt no doubt about it. I finally cleared a bit and came in a solid shot to her stomach. I heard the wind leave. I followed with left. She flinched. I backed away. I dropped my guard and let her pursue me I could here her breathing heavy I fired a left jab to her head and dug deep to her gut with a right uppercut. Her guard dropped and I could tell that she was hurting. I fired a quick one-two combo to head. She was staggered but I got nailed with a shot to the ribs. I backed off. She did not want to follow me. She was looking dazed. I was in some pain but I came in and fired a jab to her stomach. She got one half of her guard down. I hit and backed off. I egged her on she followed me getting some of her wind back. I back pedaled fast for a good fifteen seconds and I fired a quick left jab and stung her. I once again dropped my guard and egged her to chase me. She did I got within her range and she fired a hard right that I got out of the way of and back pedaled. She stalked me and I fired a right at the end of my range and just missed her. I got within her range and dropped my guard she fired a left jab I sidestepped and it missed. I finally flicked a left jab to her body followed my hard right to her head that stunned her right: than the bell rang. I would not get to inflict any more damage. I went back to my corner. "You are down by two round but she is tiring out. Keep making her chase you just don't get tagged again. You are lucky you are still not on that canvas. She breathing through her mouth get her to chase you by the next round half the power in those punches will be gone" I nodded as smelling salts were put under my nose to further clear my head. I relaxed: then the bell rang. I went out guard down and signaled for her to hit me. I wanted her to expend her energy. She got in range I backpedaled just out of her range. I did it only stepped out faster and further. I did it a third time faster and further. She followed. On the fourth time she threw a punch which I got out of the way of and I went back faster and further. She followed and I could see that she had her mouth open. I grinned. I moved in fired a one- two combo that caught her flushly in the head. She retaliated with a body shot that did not have the sting on it that her previous shots did. I once again backpedaled with my guard down. She followed me around the ring much slower. I let her follow me. I came with in her range and let her fire a couple shots at me. She fired two shots both missed. She was tiring. I moved in with one two combo for her gut both shots hit and she hit me with a stinging right uppercut but nothing like the punches she had previously fired at me. I back pedaled with my guard down. She still stalked me. Twice I got within her range and I got tagged twice. I moved back in left to the head and hard right uppercut to her stomach. She backpedaled for the first time in the fight. I moved in not really wanting to do damage. I just wanted her to move and move a whole lot. I threw some fakes she moved her guard up and down. I moved in with a left jab faked and a two one real combo to her body. She retaliated with a right uppercut that stung but only slightly dazed me I responded with left upper cut to her stomach and a hard straight right. The bell rang. I went to my corner "If you don't lay her out by the end the next round I'll be pissed" I nodded the tide of battle had turned and turned towards me. I breathed deep trying to get some extra oxygen into my system to stop the small burning sensation of the lactic acid in my muscles. The bell rang for the third round. Jenny was slow leaving her corner. I moved in smelling blood on the water. She had a one-two combination waiting for me that stung me and dazed me. I back pedaled for once. She did not follow. I came back at her hard left jab to her stomach which froze her I dug in with a hard right uppercut to the same area her mouth was wide open and I could here a giant sucking sound with a grimace. Her guard dropped I fired a left jab to her jaw and it snapped her jaw back and I felt one of her shots hitting me in the stomach. I fired a hard right to her stomach immediately. She backpedaled. I followed her knowing the end was coming soon. I flicked a left jab, tagged her again, and followed up with a straight right dazing her. Her guard went up. I unloaded with a hard right to her stomach. She backed into a corner dropping her guard. I decked her with a hard right to her jaw. The ref gave her standing eight. Her head was somewhat cleared. I went right after her with a body attack. She did not move but retaliated with a hard right of her own. It hurt but not that bad. I continued finally she dropped her guard. I fired a left jab to her jaw fired and followed with my first right uppercut to her jaw. She dropped to the canvas on her back. I rapidly moved to the neutral corner. The ref counted and then signaled her out. I threw my arms up. She was slowly coming too as I went to my corner to get the gloves off my hands. I walked over to her. She nodded that she was all right and congratulated me on a valiant effort. I congratulated her. I was feeling the effects her shots. She got up, we hugged each other, and laid on each other for a second she felt nice. She then asked me out. I responded sure. We drove back to her house talking about the fight. She told me that she thought I would stay down after the time I got knocked down. She told me she had never fired a shot so perfectly. I responded that I was shocked to see how long it took her got worn down. She thanked me for putting up one heck of a good fight. I responded the same. Her parents gave us a big lunch. I was surprised that they did not regard me with any hostility with what I had done to their daughter. They responded that Jenny had been looking forward to it and despite the fact that we were both in pain she was happy with the fight I had given her the challenge she wanted. The following day we made it back on campus. I had a big shiner and the rest of my face was swollen. She looked just as bad. We draw looks but laughed. It had been one heck of weekend.
