Corporate Lesson #1 by ajbrown An intense businessman isn't as powerful as he thinks send comments to ajbrown2005@yahoo.com Rob sat at the computer in the office, very focused, preparing his sales leads for the day. As the top salesman in the company he was always extremely focused and he always took his job very seriously. That is why at age 24 Rob was already one of the highest paid in employees in the company. Rob's mood quickly changed from focused to annoyed when he saw his co- worker Annie walking in his direction with her ditzy smile on her face. Annie was a basic data entry employee for the company and she made minimum wage. Where Rob took his job extremely seriously and didn't think about anything else but work when he was at the office, Annie was the complete opposite. She was 28 years old, always smiling, always joking around and just there to collect a paycheck. Her lax, nonchalant attitude drove Rob crazy. How could she always be smiling when she was so unsuccessful? The fact that she was always smiling and joking around caused Rob to hate her since he worked so hard and took the job so seriously. Was Annie attractive? The simple answer is yes. She stood at about 5'7, had brown hair, and had an athletic frame. She weighed about 140 lbs. However, she was from the country, grew up on a farm, and not only did her smile look ditzy but she had kind of a slower talking voice due to her lack of education and every word that came out of her mouth made her sound like a complete airhead. She would also talk about the stupidest topics such as how she accidentally spilled a bucket of water while working on the farm or how it started to rain while she was kayaking. Rob was from the city and she actually lived way out in the country, a good 45 minute drive from their office. When this airhead farm girl would speak with her ditzy voice and smile with her ditzy smile Rob would have to refrain himself from either telling her off or punching her in the head. On a few occasions Rob had made derogatory comments to Annie about her intelligence and because of that the two did not get along. Though Rob did not find Annie attractive due to her way of life, most of the other guys in the office did. As Annie walked closer to Rob she ignored him and slapped Greg, a co-worker sitting at the computer next to Rob, in the back. "When are you getting up Greg, I need that computer to do my data entry" she asked in her ditzy voice with a smile. "I'm not getting up any time soon for a woman" Greg flirted. Annie's ditzy smile got bigger, Rob didn't want to watch this flirting but he found himself watching it anyway. "Hey you better watch it" she joked to Greg "or I'll get this after you." Annie was wearing a long sleeved shirt. She rolled down her sleeve and made a muscle. Rob looked at her bicep muscle. For an arm that still looked feminine, her muscle was quite large. Rob was wearing a short sleeved collared shirt. He looked down at his skinny arm and quickly looked away. He never worked out because he was working all of the time and it showed. He quickly looked away trying to forget about her muscles and his muscles. "Wow, not bad" Greg said to Annie as she still flexed, then he stood up, felt her muscle and smacked it a bit. Rob could tell the muscle was firm as can be from the way the smack sounded. He discreetly felt his bicep. Not only was his arm skinny as can be but it was very soft as well. As he felt his puny arm and looked at Annie's muscle a horrible thought went through his head. Was this dumb airhead female that he hated so much stronger than him? No, of course not, he eliminated that thought immediately. And even if she was, they were both adults; whoever was stronger didn't matter anymore. But anyway, bottom line was that this ditzy girl was not stronger than him. He stopped thinking about that and got back to work. The next day at work was casual Friday. Everyone was able to dress casually because it was Friday, but today the two company owners were on vacation so everyone was dressing especially casually. Rob was still dressed fairly professionally because he thought that's how you should dress at work, and he became angry when he saw Annie walk into the room. She was wearing tight jeans and a white shirt, that wasn't quite a tank top, but was real close. It was tight to the point where it was hugging her upper body and didn't have sleeves. The tight shirt showed of Annie's perky tits but much more so, showed off her muscles. Her biceps and shoulders were extremely defined and her back was quite muscular as well. Annie was walking around with this revealing shirt joking around and flexing a bit. Greg walked up to her and felt her back muscle. "Damn" Greg said "you have strong back muscles too, how to keep your upper body in such good shape?" "Kayaking and canoeing" she replied with her ditzy voice "works the whole upper body." Rob felt his own back. His shoulder blades stuck out and the rest of his back was skinny and puny as can be. He became even angrier with Annie. How could a girl with such a low income waste her time kayaking and canoeing when she should be out there trying to earn an income? He might have a weak upper body but he was the top salesperson in the company. He had the power. That was all that mattered. Rob got back to work. That Friday night one of the co-workers was hosting a party. Rob sat at a table in the basement with some of the other workers playing poker. Nothing like a little gambling to try and make some more money. The basement was pretty empty except for the poker table and a full sized punching bag that was chained to the ceiling. Sitting on the floor next to the punching bag were a pair of boxing gloves. As Rob sat at the poker table looking at his poker hand he saw Annie walking towards him. She was wearing a pink turtleneck sweater and tight blue jeans. Rob hated admitting that Annie was good looking because he hated her so much but tonight she definitely looked hot. The tight jeans hugged her legs to show off her sexy, long, strong legs and the sweater was a tight one which showed off her fit upper body. Her face still looked ditzy as anything, though, and Rob hoped she was not coming to talk to him. Luckily for Rob, Annie was not coming to talk to him. Instead she put on the pair of boxing gloves. She proceeded to start beating the hell out of the punching bag with her ditzy smile on her face the entire time. Rob watched her punch and kick the punching bag. It seemed like she really knew what she was doing. Her jabs were hard and executed well. Her kicks looked like they could knock out anyone. Not by his choice, Rob imagined himself being on the receiving end of the beating as opposed to the punching bag. He wasn't much of a fighter. He hadn't been in a fight since junior high and the ones he had been in back then he lost. Annie seemed to really know what she was doing as she punched and kicked the punching bag. Rob always talked badly about her but what if for some reason they were to fight? He wouldn't be able to win against the kind of attack he was seeing now. Luckily they were not in junior high anymore and it didn't matter who was tougher. Greg approached Annie. "Wow, you're really kicking some ass" he said to her "where did you learn that?" "Where I come from you have to be tough to survive" she smiled "I can definitely hold my own." Annie continued to punch and kick the punching bag with her ditzy smile. Rob finally was able to turn his attention back to the poker game. That Monday at work Rob was grumpy as can be. He had drank a lot all weekend and he lost a lot of money in the poker game. He was not in the mood to listen to any stupidity this morning. He walked into the administration office to send a fax out. Inside the office sat Annie and 3 more of the girls who worked in administration. Annie had her ditzy smile on her face and was telling the girls some story about when she was rollerblading over the weekend and she saw some hot guy painting a house. Rob ignored her and walked towards the fax machine. He tried using the machine but it did not work. "That's not working" Annie said in his direction "didn't you see the sign I put on the wall?" Rob looked at the wall in front of the machine. There was a sign that read "Fax Machene Out of Order". The idiot had spelled the word machine wrong! Normally Rob would have had to bite his tongue but today he was in a real bad mood so he couldn't hold back. "Ah, I missed it" he said about the sign "probably because you don't know how to spell." After those words came off of his tongue Rob wanted to take them back. He hated this girl but that was real mean. He felt like a jerk. He awaited her reaction because he knew that must have really hurt her feelings. He turned around to face her and apologize and he expected a sad look to be on her face. Instead she was smiling and although it was still her ditzy smile it looked very confident. "You know you can talk all you want" she said in her ditzy voice but confidently "but I'm bigger than you. I'll beat you up!" The other 3 girls in the office laughed. Rob hung his head down in shame. What was he going to say to that? He thought about her flexing her strong bicep. He thought about her walking around in the tight white shirt showing off her muscular upper body. He thought about her beating up the punching bag. Rob felt ashamed by her statement but also felt fear. He didn't want to get beat up by Annie. That would hurt. He walked out of the room and got back to work. He quickly forgot about Annie's threat. Of course she wasn't actually going to beat him up, she was just joking around. They were adults and they were in the corporate world and that just didn't happen anymore. The day came to an end and Rob was the last one to leave the office which was usually the case. He locked the front door to the building and turned around to see Annie and the 3 other administration girls standing there. This was not good at all. Rob tried to ignore them and walk towards his car. Annie blocked his path. "Where are you going?" she asked with her ditzy smile. "To my car" he said trying not to look her in the eye. "I don't think so" she said with her ditzy smile. Annie started pushing his shoulder with her hand, trying to initiate a fight. Rob felt how strong her arm was as she pushed him. He didn't want to fight Annie but he looked at the 3 other girls watching them. He couldn't back down in front of 3 girls. What was he afraid of anyway? She was strong for a girl but he was still a guy. He could take her. He had to stop being a coward. Rob charged at Annie, grabbed her at the shoulders, and she grabbed him at the shoulders as well. He tried to push her back but couldn't budge her. Annie began to push back and she easily began pushing Rob backwards. "Jesus Christ!" he yelled as he back pedaled trying to keep his balance. Annie pushed Rob into the brick wall of the building and held him there. He tried to push her away but he wasn't strong enough. Annie put him in a headlock. Her strong arm hurt his neck. As Rob tried his best to pry her strong arms off of him she easily brought him to the ground. Before he could do anything else, Annie wrapped her strong legs around his upper body. She squeezed and squeezed and he felt himself losing air. We wriggled to break free. He weakly punched at her strong legs but it did no good. Annie still wore that ditzy smile. The other 3 girls laughed. "Pretty strong, aren't they?" Annie teased "that's what all of that rollerblading does." Rob wriggled some more, couldn't budge himself, and began to whimper a bit. "All right, I'll let go" Annie laughed and she released her legs. Annie stood up. She instructed Rob to do the same and he obeyed. He was just happy this beating was over with. Annie raised her fists in a fighting stance. Rob did not like the looks of this. "What are you doing?" he asked. "Oh we're not done yet" she laughed "get ready to fight for real." Rob became extremely afraid. He still hadn't forgotten Annie beating up that punching bag. However, he had no choice but to be a man and fight. He raised his fists as well. Annie swung at Rob and connected with his face. He hadn't been punched in the face in over 10 years and had forgotten how much a punch to the face hurt. He put his arms in front of his face to block it from anymore punching and bent down. Annie took advantage of Rob's vulnerable position and punched him in the back of the head. Instead of trying to punch back at all like someone who knew how to fight would do, Rob huddled himself up even more. He basically stood there bundled up like a punching bag for Annie. She hit him in the back of the head, and then the side, then the face, and then the stomach. Every punch hurt so badly but since Rob had absolutely no fighting skills he didn't know how to fight back. Occasionally he would look up and see Annie still smiling with her ditzy smile while he was about to cry. "Don't just stand there rolled up in a ball" one of the spectators yelled "hit her back". Rob tried to take the girl's advice. Although he was hurt he stood up straight and tried to get his arms back in a fighting stance. He took a swing at Annie and she smiled, backed away, and he missed. She came back with 2 hard punches to his ribs. Those punches hurt so much. He felt her hard fist connect with his rib bone, then shoot a pain throughout his entire upper body while making him feel nauseous at the same time. Annie then lifted her sexy, strong leg and gave him a good kick to the stomach. It hurt so badly. Rob immediately felt to the ground and grabbed his stomach. He was having a hard time catching his breath and he was spitting up the ground. He was crying but having trouble crying because he couldn't take a full breath. His eyes were closed so he couldn't see the girls but he imagined they were mocking him. Annie stood above him and put her foot on him. "Open your eyes" she ordered. Rob obeyed. "I just beat you up" she laughed in her ditzy voice "I'll see you at work tomorrow." Annie walked to her car and drove away as did the other 3 girls. Rob lied on the ground crying, grabbing his stomach, trying his best to take a full breath. How was he going to face Annie at work tomorrow? He was the top salesperson in the office and wanted to have a powerful image. It was going to be hard to convey a powerful image now. Annie had just beaten him up.
