Cameron was walking down the hall of the first floor of Lionel Hall, the
dormitory that he lived in. The pretty girl that always smiled at him was
walking towards him. Cameron was a sophomore and this girl was a freshman.
Every time they walked by each other she would give him a smile that always
brightened his day. He'd always smile back.

She hadn't seen him right away as she was looking at the ground at first. She
was often walking by herself although Cameron had definitely seen her with
friends before. It seemed to always be the same people that she was with. She
wasn't like most of the other good looking girls at school who normally
traveled in big groups and often had plenty of guys around them.

That was one of the things about her that attracted him to her although the
fact that she was one of the prettiest girls that he had ever seen helped too.
She had long blond hair that was a bit wavy. She had thin eyebrows, beautiful
hair, and she was a fairly small girl.

But what Cameron found really attractive about her, that made her more
attractive to him than most girls, was her smile. Not only was it extremely
pretty but there was something about it that just gave him a really good
feeling every time she smiled at him - it actually gave him tingles in her
body when he was greeted with that smile.

So he looked at her as she was walking towards him and he hoped that she would
look up at him so he could get the smile. Of course he was always prepared for
the possibility that she wouldn't look up or if she did see him she wouldn't
smile that time. She was a lot better looking than he was, as far as he was
concerned, so he was always prepared for those possibilities.

But sure enough, she looked up at him when she got closer and she gave him
that beautiful smile of hers that she always gave him when the two of them
crossed paths. He smiled back and the two of them walked by each other. He
felt the tingles throughout his body and they were a bit stronger every time
that he saw her.

Feeling that tingly feeling that he got every time he saw this girl always
brightened his day. He never had the guts to actually talk to her, though.
Cameron didn't find himself to be very good looking, based on his own
self-consciousness, and based on the fact that no female had ever really
complimented his looks before.

He didn't want to try and talk to her and have that result in him not getting
those smiles anymore that he liked so much. And in his mind, she obviously
wouldn't have been interested in him so it would trying to talk to her with
the intention of possibly going out with her, wouldn't have been a wise thing
to do.

So that Friday night he was at a party on campus and that's when he was more
in his element of trying to meet girls. There were only a couple of weeks left
of the fall semester so this was going to be one of his last chances to party
and try and hook up. Most of the popular people and the good looking girls
partied off campus. So he felt more comfortable with the on-campus crowd of
girls that didn't look so great, but liked to get drunk, and looked a lot
better to him when he was drunk.

He started talking to one girl who wasn't great looking or anything but she
was one of the better looking girls at the party. She was a little on the
heavier side and she had a pointy nose but her face wasn't too bad. Cameron
thought that she was good looking enough where she'd do as a target for him
but she wouldn't be out of his league or anything.

The two of them were talking and the girl seemed receptive to talking to him.
She introduced him to her friend Renee she was there with. Renee wasn't awful
looking either but she definitely wasn't pretty and she didn't looked not
quite as good as Cameron's target who he learned was named, Sydney.

Renee had reddish hair that was definitely on the shorter side. She wore a
flannel shirt, a pair of jeans that were faded, and pair of Converse sneakers.
She looked like the kind of girl that since she wasn't very naturally good
looking, that just didn't try at all. And Cameron felt like she had an eye on
him as he talked to Sydney.

He continued to work it and at points he felt like he was losing Sydney's
attention but he was doing his best to keep the conversation going. He didn't
necessarily want to start dating Sydney or anything but he wanted to at least
try and hook up that night and Sydney would have been fine for that purpose.

When he had been talking to her long enough but there was a bit of a lull in
the conversation, he put his arm around her. She didn't seem overly happy that
he did it but she didn't stop him. He had done this when Renee had gotten up
and walked away for a moment. When Renee came back, she had a not-too-pleased
look on her face.

"Alright," Renee said as she looked down at Cameron and she had her arms
crossed at her flat chest. "I think it's time for you to go somewhere else."

"What??" Cameron said with an attitude. Renee trying to babysit her friend who
was perfectly capable of making her own decisions annoyed Cameron enough. Her
thinking that she could just tell him what to do made him angry.

"Come on," she said and she actually bent down and tugged him on the arm that
wasn't around Sydney. "Let's get going - Sydney doesn't want to talk to you
anymore."

He knew that getting in an argument with this girl basically was going to kill
any chance that he had with Sydney but what else was he going to do? Renee
wanted him gone so this chance was blown for him anyway. It drove him nuts
that all was going well and now it was ruined just because of this nosy bitch.
And the fact that she had put his hands on him put him over the edge. He stood
up and got right in Renee's face. He was only about two inches taller than she
was and he didn't seem to be much bigger than her at all.

"Don't you EVER put your hands on me!" he said and she didn't back off at all.

"Yeah, yeah," she said. "Just keep on walking.

"I'll walk right over you," he said and he shoved her. That got the attention
of some at the party. Renee pushed him back and raised her fist like she was
going to hit him. This girl had guts.

"Hey, hey!" some guy who Cameron figured was the host of the party was. "Take
it outside, you two. No room for that in here. I don't want all of my shit
getting broken."

Not wanting to risk any sort of a problem in there, the host of the party put
one hand on each of their shoulders and started pushing them towards the door.
Renee went ahead and walked with him and Cameron actually did the same. Renee
was giving Cameron a look like she was ready to fight.

This was certainly not what Cameron expected to happen. It wasn't the first
time another girl had intervened when he was hitting on one of her friends but
it certainly had never turned into a physical fight before. Renee looked ready
to go so he couldn't back out. And everyone was following them outside looking
like they wanted to watch the fight so Cameron couldn't really act like he
didn't want to fight a girl - everyone else saw Renee raise her fist to him so
they knew that she was asking for it.

Before they knew it they were outside in the grass with everyone who had been
inside at that party crowded around to watch. It was a semi-cold night at
around forty degrees Fahrenheit. Cameron had felt cold walking there with just
a dress shirt and no jacket on but he felt a lot warmer now that his
adrenaline was going. Renee, standing there in her flannel shirt and jeans,
didn't look the least bit bothered by the cold either.

The two of them were standing there looking at each other and Renee was
looking at him like she was totally cool with throwing down with him. Some
people started chanting 'fight-fight-fight'. Renee may have been a girl but
Cameron had never been in a situation like this where he had a crowd around
him of people that all wanted him to fight.

Renee gave him a good shove which sent him shuffling backwards a few steps.
She felt stronger than he expected and it made him a bit more worried. He
noticed that the crowd was starting to grow. On a cool night like this he
couldn't imagine that security was going to be out patrolling for trouble
outside.

He gave Renee a shove back. It was a good shove and it threw off her balance
but it didn't send her as far back as her shoving him sent him. She looked
pissed off that he did that and she came back and punched him in the face. The
punch from her fist hurt and he felt his eyes water up.

Renee took a couple of steps back and had a look on her face that made it look
like connecting with that punch increased her confidence. Cameron could hear
the audience reacting to the punch and he could tell they were excited for him
to strike back. He threw a punch at her face but she moved her head back and
he just grazed her jawbone.

She moved right back at him and threw another punch at his face. He hadn't
ever been in a fight before so regardless of the fact that she was a girl, he
wasn't skilled enough to defend against her. She connected with the punch
right in his face again and this one really hurt.

He was quickly losing his confidence about his ability to beat her. He tried
to punch her in the face again but he didn't have much behind it. She easily
blocked it and deflected his arm off. She threw a punch at his face and he
moved backwards. She still hit his nose pretty good though and even though it
wasn't a full punch it still hurt.

He had his hands up near his face but it was clear from the look on his face
and his body language that he had very little confidence in himself at that
point. He looked at Renee who looked cool and calm but also looked confident
in herself that she was going to be able to hurt him, regardless of what he
threw at her.

He made his best attempt to be aggressive. He went right in at her and tried
to punch her in the face but he just grazed her chin. He tried to punch her in
the face again but she quickly backed up and he missed completely. Just as
quickly as she backed away from him, she moved in on him and grabbed him by
the hair.

He tried to pull away but she gave his hair a good yank and pulled his head
down close to her waist level. He couldn't pull away from her because that
just hurt his hair more. She used her free hand to punch him in the face over
and over. Since she was holding his head down so he was facing the ground, he
couldn't see the punches coming and he was completely helpless to try and
block them. She had too much of an advantage on him and he was just flailing
his arms up around, not even coming close to being able block anything she
threw.

He could hear the audience starting to get louder and more excited and it
sounded like the crowd was growing as well. This seemed to motivate Renee to
fight harder. He could feel her girly hand grabbing his hair even tighter,
causing sheer pain in his head, and making the hold that she had on him even
tighter.

And that free fist of hers continued to punch him. He felt her punch him right
on the bone on the side of his eye and it made him feel woozy. She then got a
couple of good punches that connected with his jaw. He was getting more
desperate trying to block her punches and she just punched him harder. She
punched him in the forehead and the punch sent him to the ground.

The audience reacted loudly now that the fight was really getting good.
Cameron started to sit up but Renee got on the ground with him and clearly
didn't want to give him the opportunity to do anything. She kicked out her
legs and wrapped them around his chest. As he tried to pull her legs apart,
she locked her ankles.

Cameron had never been in a real fight anyway, but even in just playing
around, he had never had anyone try anything like what Renee was doing to him.
He could feel that underneath those jeans she had on, she had some strong
legs. She squeezed his ribs hard with her legs and it was quite painful for
him.

Being stuck between her legs hurt him a lot and it was also extremely
humiliating being trapped in that kind of hold. His arms were absolutely no
match for her legs and he looked pathetic as he tried to pull them apart. He
kept doing it, however, as it felt like she could knock him out with those
legs and he didn't know what else to do.

Renee used her legs to thrust him down so he was lying on his back, still
trapped in the painful scissors, feeling like she could break some bones if
she kept doing it. She leaned forward and punched him in the face a couple of
more times. This was no longer a fight - it was just him getting beaten up.

He felt her fist hit him a few more times. He could feel the blood on his face
in different spots and he was doing his best to hold back tears - that was the
one thing at that point that could make it even more humiliating for him. When
one of Renee's punches hit him square in the nose, his eyes completely watered
up and it took all of his power to hold back from bursting out crying right
there.

Renee started to get up but she still kept her legs around him the best that
she could and it was clear that she was not done. Although her legs were
loosening as she moved, they didn't loosen enough for Cameron to free himself.
She started to sit up and she sat her rather big butt right on his chest.

Her butt felt heavier and stronger than Cameron would have expected it to as
it pushed into his chest, that was still in pain from being scissored, and
holding him down. The way her legs were bent they looked quite thick - it was
certainly a trait about her that he hadn't noticed initially.

He tried to get up but her weight and positioning made it so he didn't have a
chance. All he could do was lift his shoulders a bit as he looked at Renee
sitting there being proud of the fact that she was keeping him down. She
punched him in the cheek and then punched him a couple of times in the eye.

Unsure of exactly what to do, Cameron just raised his hands up and tried to
grab Renee's wrists. She easily moved them out of the way and then punched him
in the nose. With his face right in front of her and him lacking the speed or
skill to defend it, she could do whatever she wanted to it.

And what she chose to do was punch it. Her punches were hitting him in all
different spots of his face, getting more painful with each one, instead of
him getting used to it. He had his hands up just trying to fend her off but he
couldn't even touch her. After he took enough punches, he couldn't take it
anymore and he started to cry.

He knew how this was going to kill his reputation but he just couldn't take it
anymore. Renee slowed down a bit when he started crying but she still
delivered more punches. He put up his hands but this time it was in surrender.
Renee held her fist back, looking like she was considering if she wanted to
punch him again.

"He's giving up," Cameron heard a guy say. "Let him up."

For some reason, hearing someone actually show a bit of care for Cameron
actually made him cry some more. He could still feel Renee's strong but
sitting on him and it upset him that regardless of what anyone else said, she
was going to be able to stay on top of him as long as she wanted.

But she did slowly start to get up. Cameron was badly beaten and even though
it seemed that the beating was over, taking a quick glance around at all of
the people that had just witnessed him getting thrashed made him cry more.
Renee stood up completely. She pulled her leg back and kicked him right in the
ribs.

A powerful kick like that when he was lying on the ground was something he had
also never experienced and he thought it may have been the most awful thing
that had ever happened to him. He felt the immense pain begin right in the
spot of his ribs where her Converse sneaker connected and then felt that pain
shoot throughout his upper body.

Not only was it the worst pain he even felt but he could barely breathe. He
thought that he was going to pass out or worse. He could hear people cheering
like they were so excited that they had just witnessed someone getting beaten
up. The enjoyment people got out of watching this girl show her dominance by
hurting him like that made the tears start pouring down his face.

He started to get up and he felt dizzy as he did. Just moving hurt his ribs
beyond belief and he didn't know how he was going to get to his feet. Just
hearing the people cheering was the only motivation he had to not just lay
back on the ground as he wanted to be out of there.

He pushed on the ground with his left hand and held his ribs with his right
hand, tears pushing out of his eyes as he started to get up. The first thing
that he did was get to his knees before slowly trying to get up from there. As
he started to get up more he felt like he was going to fall until he saw
something - he saw that the girl that always smiled at him in the hall and
brightened his day was among the audience and she was looking right at him.

That gave him a bit more motivation to get out of there in a hurry. For as
much physical pain that he was in, the humiliation of knowing that this girl
had seen him getting his ass beaten by a girl was far worse. He had always
thought that she was out of his league anyway and it wasn't like he actually
thought that he had a chance with her. But this solidified that even more and
he felt certain that he wouldn't be getting smiles from her when they passed
each other in the halls any longer.

He tried to run away and his ribs really hurt when he did. He was running the
best he could but it was almost a limp just because he had so much pain in his
ribs which was making it so he couldn't really run. After just a couple of
steps he was grabbing his ribs as he got out of there.

It seemed like it took forever to get away as he heard people chatting and
laughing. He did hear one girl behind him ask if he was OK but he didn't even
turn around to acknowledge her. The last thing he needed was to see some girl
checking on him in front of everything. He finally got away, got into his dorm
room, and he immediately locked the door behind him.

He lay on the bed in serious pain. The worst was the pain that was in his ribs
as every breath that he took hurt a lot. He wondered if he should go to the
infirmary on campus. He thought about how humiliating it would be to have to
show up there and explain what happened. Even do a campus nurse or doctor, he
didn't want to do that. He was in too much pain to go walking around, though,
and he certainly wasn't going to ask anyone for help.

He also felt like there was a lot of blood on his face. He didn't want to
imagine what he looked like and just the thought of what his face must look
like made him queasy. But the longer he lay there the more he thought that he
better at least see how much damage was done.

He started to get up and he felt an extreme amount of pain in his ribs just
from trying to get up. Getting his next breath in was so difficult that it
frightened him but the next couple of breaths came a bit easier even though
they still hurt. He limped over to the cabinet that he had in his dorm room
that had a mirror inside of it.

He took a look at his face in the mirror. He wasn't sure whether to cry,
scream, or if he just wanted to vomit. Seeing his face really hit home to him
what Renee had actually done to him. His right eye was swelling up. There was
a large cut above his left eye. A lot of blood had come out of his nose. It
looked like it had stopped but then he saw a bit more coming out. The
remainder was smeared underneath his nose and on the side of his face.

He had a few other random bruises and cuts on his face. Just seeing them all
for the first time made him feel the pain a lot more in every spot where he
could see the damage done. Renee had done all of this to him, just because he
was trying to meet a girl. Not only did he look like this now but he was going
to have to walk around looking like that for a while. Christmas was just a few
weeks away and he was going to have to look like this on Christmas day.

As he started to make his way back to his bed to go lie down again, he heard a
knock at the door. The noise bothered him immediately as he wondered who it
may be. Had Renee followed him to his room? That was one of the downsides of
living on a college campus. All of the students were right there and there was
really no getting away from them if need be. If Renee wanted to just continue
to bully him after this fight, there wouldn't be anything he could do about it
and there wouldn't be many places for him to hide.

He thought about the other possibilities. Perhaps it was other students who
had seen him get beat up by a girl and they wanted to taunt him about it. Or
perhaps it was campus security who had found out about the fight. He knew that
when two students got in physical altercation that it often didn't matter who
won, who lost, or who started it - they would both face punishment.

However, the knock on the door had not been very hard, almost a light tap. He
figured that Renee or security would have had a much harder knock. And if it
were other students looking to taunt him he figured he for sure would have
heard some talking to even laughing outside of his door. But he didn't hear
any of that. Slowly, he made his way over to the door, his ribs still hurting
with every step that he took. He looked through the peephole and definitely
hadn't been expecting who he saw standing there - it was the pretty girl that
always smiled when they walked by each other.

He was so not expecting it to be her that he didn't know quite what to do. He
looked at her standing there with an almost smile on her pretty face but a
serious look at the same time. She wasn't looking quite in the direction of
the door, more to the side a bit, like she was going to be patient and not
eager for him to open it up right away. He didn't know what to do. Her showing
up at his room like that almost seemed too good to be true - so why did it
have to be under these circumstances? He fought hard in his mind about what to
do. He was in so much pain he could barely talk. There was no way he could try
and flirt with her after being beaten like this. But she had seen him and knew
what had happened anyway. If he let her just leave then he may never know why
she was there - he wouldn't be able to tell her that he knew she stopped by
without telling her that he wouldn't open the door for her. He figured there
was no harm in opening the door so he just went ahead and did it. As they made
eye-contact it reminded him that she was looking at a completely beaten up
face and he felt embarrassed. But when she cracked a gentle smile it actually
made him feel a sense of peace.

"Hey," she said. When she spoke he realized that he had never heard her talk
before. She spoke very softly, almost in a whisper, but not quite a whisper.
It was very peaceful. "You mind if I come in?" He was in a ton of pain but
hearing the words come out of her mouth put a tingly feeling in his neck that
started to spread up into his head.

"I really would prefer to just be alone right now. I've had a rough day."

"I know," she said. She spoke slowly, in no rush whatsoever to make her point.
The smile started to go off of her face as she spoke, showing that she was
sympathetic to his situation. While she still looked serious, her expression
still looked like that of a happy person that wouldn't let anything bring her
down. "I saw what happened to you. I'm very sorry that happened. Getting
beaten up is never fun. I just figured you could use someone to fix you up a
little bit. I know guys don't come to college prepared the way girls do. So I
brought a first aid kit - see?"

He had been so busy looking at her pretty face that he hadn't realized that
she was carrying something with her. She held it up and smiled as she did. It
wasn't actually so much a first-aid kit as it was just a big bag but it did
have a first-aid symbol on it. She smiled and she just looked so pleased that
she had this bag of stuff. So pleased that it actually made Cameron feel more
appreciative of the bag then he would have otherwise. He felt the tingles in
his neck and head again and he felt himself craving to see the contents of
this bag - and not even really for the purpose of having his wounds healed.

"OK," he said and her smile got a big bigger now that she had his approval.
"Sure."

She smiled when he said that and chuckled a little bit. It was a bit of an
uncomfortable chuckle although she looked confident as she walked in the door.
Cameron closed the door behind her. He wanted to lock the door but wondered if
it would make her uncomfortable if he did. He ended up doing it and if she
noticed, she didn't mind. She sent her first-aid bag on the bed and kicked off
the flip flops that she had on.

"Come here," she said and she patted her hand on the bed for him to sit down.
"Let's get you fixed up."

He walked over and had a seat. This cute girl couldn't have been more than 5'3
and 115 pounds and she was younger than him since she was a freshman. But in
her own peaceful way she seemed to be taking charge. She chuckled again with
that somewhat uncomfortable chuckle when he sat down and she remained looking
very confident.

"You don't mind if I put my feet on your bed, do you?" she said as she brought
her little legs up and sat with her bare feet on his bed. "Don't worry - a
girl always keeps her feet clean. If she doesn't then she's not really a
girl."

She let out another chuckle. Cameron looked at her bare feet. They certainly
looked clean. She had silver shiny toenail polish on. Cameron could have sworn
he saw a twinkle on the polish on her big toe, although he realized that may
have just been that his eyes were still cloudy from getting punched. He looked
back up at her face and she was wearing a soft, closed-mouth smile.

She reached into the bag that she was carrying and she pulled out an actual
first-aid kit. She gently set the bag on the floor then put the first-aid kit
on her lap. She gently tapped on the top of the plastic with her fingers a few
times. Her fingernails looked shiny and like they were freshly painted as
well. As she tapped a bit more she looked as if she was thinking about just
what she wanted to do before she opened.

"OK," she said softly as she opened up the kit softly and gently. "I'm going
to take a look at your face and figure out what we need to treat first. You
have a lot of wounds but I want to figure out what is in a bit more urgent
need of being treated. So I hope you don't mind if I touch your face. If I
hurt you at all, don't be shy or embarrassed about telling me, OK? There's
nothing to be embarrassed about if it hurts."

She gave him a brief smile but as she moved her soft, feminine hand towards
his face, the smile started to go away. Now her face just looked more like she
was concentrating and giving full attention to his wounds, with nothing else
on her mind so she could assess the situation to the best of her ability.

She looked curious as she touched her thumb right above his eye. It hurt him
at first and he moved his head a bit but he didn't say anything. She didn't
say anything either but she seemed to realize that it hurt him as she moved
her thumb in closer and touched it gentler.

She continued to examine his face very carefully as she moved her hand around
and touched his various wounds. Her fingers were extremely soft and it was
starting to feel good when she touched his face, even when it hurt a bit at
first. Her eyes looked so pretty as they moved around, seeming to be giving
full attention to whatever part of his face she was looking at.

"Oops, looks like your nose is starting to bleed a little bit again," she said
to him softly and she pulled what looked to be some sort of ice pack out of
her first-aid kit. "I want to stop that bleeding before we do anything else.
Tilt your head back just a bit for me, OK?

"This is one of those ice gel packs," she said as he tilted back his head but
still watched what she was doing. She was pushing on different parts of it
with her fingers. Watching her do that gave him more tingles in his neck.
"Pretty neat how it works. I don't even know exactly how it works actually -
heh-heh-heh. When you push it on it releases the gel and makes it cold. Then
we're you're done you can just put it away and use it again. I don't really
get it, but it's cool either way." She smiled but then went back to looking
focused as she slowly moved it towards his face and put it in nose.

"OK, now hold that right there for me just for a bit. I'll start working on
some of these other bruises while you do. Remember, just let me know if it
hurts."

He did exactly what she said. Her words sent tingles all throughout his head.
He could just listen to this girl talk all day and it would be therapeutic for
him. She pulled a Q-tip out of her kit and then gave all her attention to a
small bottle of gel. She opened the gel and squeezed just a little bit onto
the Q-tip.

She squinted her eyes just a bit, giving the little bottle of gel her full
attention as she put the cap back on. She then turned her attention a bit back
to his face as she looked at it carefully while bringing the Q-tip closer to
it. When she touched it to his wound, it hurt a bit and his head shook a bit.

"Sorry," she said and she giggled a bit.

But she continued to treat the wound with it, looking very carefully at where
she was putting the gel, while he still held the ice pack to his nose. It was
making his nose feel better. She opened up the gel bottle again, put a bit
more on the Q-tip, then treated his face some more.

"You should be able to put the ice pack down now," she said softly and he
pulled it away from his face. He did so and she inspected his nose area, then
took a gauze pad out of her kit and patted away some blood. She was very
careful as she patted the blood away, giving close attention to every spot
that she patted. "A lot of the blood you had on your face was just from your
nose bleeding. But we got the nosebleed to stop so it should be a lot easier
for me to get this blood cleaned up."

Every time she spoke, her voice was soft, just above a whisper, and the more
she spoke in that gentle tone to him, with all of her attention focused on
him, the more he could feel tingles in his body. The tingles weren't now just
in his neck and head as they were spreading to his shoulders and down to the
rest of his body. He felt it even more as he watched her concentrate on
getting the blood off of his face. He started to feel like he was on some
drug, it felt so good, and he loved just watching her do her work.

"Don't be embarrassed about the fact that you got beat up," she said softly,
still patting the blood off of his face as she spoke. "We're all going to have
a month off pretty soon for Christmas vacation. By the time we get back,
everyone will have forgotten about this. It's nothing you need to worry about
at all."

She smiled at him, got a new Q-tip, and put more gel on it. She continued to
tend to different parts of his face with the gel and continued to give it her
full attention. She started humming as she fixed his face up. Her soft humming
sounded amazing and he could now feel chills throughout his body as he heard
her hum.

"Hmm-hmm-hmm," she hummed and the musical tone just made him feel so good.
"Hmm-hmm-hmm-hmm-hmm."

"Ah!" he said. He took a deep breath and it made him feel pain his rib. It was
the one thing that could have ruined that amazing feeling he felt. She looked
down at his rib with a concerned look on her face, looking like she knew
exactly what was bothering him.

"Yeah, you'll probably have to be careful when you breathe," she said. "Don't
breathe too rapidly and don't take too deep of a breath. Try and control your
breathing and do it nice and slow. Breathe in through your nose for four
seconds then out through your nose for four seconds. In and out. In and out."

She gently put two of her fingers on the painful part of his rib as she said
that. It hurt when she first touched it but the touch of her fingers staying
there started to make the pain lessen and the longer she kept them there it
actually felt kind of good. She breathed with him, the same way she had told
him to do, and it felt quite relaxing for him. She looked like she might be
counting in her head as he breathed, as if she was a doctor.

"Seems like you got a pretty bad bruise on your rib there," she said. "Just
keep breathing slowly like that. Here, I got another ice pack that we can put
on it. Not much else we can do about it, though."

She pulled another one of the gel ice packs from her kit and looked at it
carefully as she pushed on it with her fingers to get all the gel going. She
then placed it on his rib and had him hold it there. She brought her attention
back to his face and started to fix it up some more.

She took out a bottle of cream that was a bit bigger than the bottle of gel
that she had and started applying that to various parts of his face. She
sweetly hummed some more as she examined various parts of his face while
putting cream on it. She started to give specific attention to his right eye,
keeping her focus on that.

"Your right eye is really swelling up," she said softly as she patted around
that area with her fingers. "You're gonna have a shiner tomorrow -
shhhhhiner."

She giggled after she said it but it was a friendly giggle and it didn't come
across like she was trying to make fun of him for it. Hearing the way she
carried out that 'shhh' gave him more tingles and he got even more as she went
back to tending to his eye, giving it her full attention again.

She hummed a bit more as she put cream on his swollen eye but her humming was
a bit quieter now. His face already felt a lot better but his entire body felt
tingly and relaxed. After tending to his eye a bit longer she slowly started
to get off the bed. She put her flip-flops back on and giggled again before
starting to pack up everything back in her first-aid kid. When she was done
she gently put her hands on his shoulders.

"OK, now lie down, OK?" she said. "You need to get some rest."

She smiled again. Her smile was so comforting and it made him feel like
everything that had happened to him was OK. He had been so upset after getting
beaten up. But having this girl's presence in his room with him cleared his
mind. It made him realize that the physical wounds would heal and that it
didn't matter what anyone else thought of him. Now lying on the bed, he looked
up at her smiling down at him and he knew that all was good.

"Get some rest, OK?" she said as she put her hand on his forehead and leaned
in closer to his face. "If you run into her again and she bothers you, just
remember - you don't ever need to fight. Just ignore her and walk away. You
never need to fight anyone. Sleep well tonight, sweetheart."

She smiled again and she moved her face a bit closer to his, looking like she
might kiss him. But she didn't. She just gave him one more sweet smile that
made him feel tingles towards the top of his head and she waved her fingers at
him. She then turned away and left the room.

Cameron lay in bed starting at the ceiling. He didn't have sex, she didn't
stay over in his room, and he didn't get as much as a kiss. But he thought
that what he got was much better than any of that. He lay there in bed feeling
the tingles throughout his body as he thought about the attention he had just
gotten and it was better than any of that other stuff.
