Defeat at the Pool By Boomer I was sitting by the pool one afternoon just enjoying the day, my wife and daughter were out for the day shopping. The gate to the backyard opened and my daughter's friend Debbie came in looking for my daughter. Upon being told she wasn't home, Debbie asked if she could take a swim. I told her it was no problem. After swimming awhile, Debbie started doing chinups on the diving board. Now this is not really hard as the water was suporting her weight. However, she did display some nice muscles in her arms and back. I commented on this to her and she stated that she and my daughter had been working out in order to get stronger for gymnastics. Debbie told me she was getting really strong and was now able to beat her 14 year old brother in armwrestling. A little about Debbie. She is 13 years old, the same age as my daughter. She is 5'3" tall and weighs maybe 110 pounds soaking wet, which of course she was. I remarked that her brother must be embarassed losing to his little sister in a test of strength. Debbie said he would have to live with it for she intended to just get stronger and stronger. She also told me that she could hold out for awhile against her father and someday hoped to be able to beat him too. Now I was shocked. Her father is over 6 feet tall and over 200 pounds. She looked at me and said did I want to give her a try. I'm 5'10" tall and weigh 165 pounds and keep in reasonable good condition so I figured I could have a little fun. I figured she was just bragging about her matches with her father. Fun it was not. This little girl was incredibly strong. We grasped hands and the first thing I felt was the strength of Debbie's grip. I gave a little gasp which she heard. Debbie asked if I was ready. We started and I gained a slight advantage. This was more like it. The only problem was I couldn't move this strong little 13 year old any further and she didn't seem to be exerting much effort. She then said she was ready to start which was a surprise since I was now giving it my all. She quickly moved our arms back to the starting position, where we reamined deadlocked for what must have been at least a minute. I felt my strength fading and started to get nervous. Debbie was wet from the pool but I was wet from the sweat now pouring down my forehead. Debbie then started to take control. She slowlyi but steadily pushed my arm down, holding it at about the 3/4 mark. I looked at her in shock and she smiled sweetly at me. I am getting pretty strong, Debbie said, and then proceeded to pound my arm to the table. She jumped up screaming that she was even stronger than she thought since she could beat an adult male. The next thing she said stunned me completely. Debbie said she couldn't wait to tell my daughter about her victory since my daughter was stronger than she was. Debbie told me I better watch out for I may not be the strongest one in the house much longer. She then dove into the pool for another swim. After getting out, Debbie flexed her bicep in my face and told me never to underestimate girl power. She left then and I sat there dreading the thought of having to face my daughter.
