TV Tussle #6: Antics In Ally's Office by BeegBoy The gals of McBeal, the weaker sex? - Get real!! Part 1 - Ms. Vassal Negotiates a Salary Increase Elaine sat in a chair at the small table in the conference room, patiently waiting for Billy to come in and begin her annual performance/salary review. She was banking her hopes on a sizable raise this year, and with the holidays approaching she could certainly use it. She looked up in response to the sound of the opening door and her naturally large eyes widened a bit further at the unexpected sight of Richard entering the room. "Good morning, Elaine!" he cheerfully greeted as he closed the door behind himself and strode over to the table, taking a seat across from the comely secretary. "Oh,....good morning.....," she replied in a mildly perplexed tone, "I'm sorry, I thought Billy and I were scheduled to meet in here for my review. It must be in one of the other conference rooms." "No, no," Richard answered as he motioned her back into her chair even as she started to rise, "You're in the right place. Billy's occupied with other office business, so he asked me to handle this negotiation for him." "Oh....," Elaine muttered softly as she cocked her head to the right, her curly, golden tresses bouncing softly onto her shoulder and the hefty, well-tanned arm that contrasted nicely with her cap-sleeved, turquoise knit blouse, "I guess I just didn't expect he would delegate this to someone else." "Well, of course Billy will have final approval of your rating and salary increase, if any," Richard assured her, "but I'm certain we'll both leave this table mutually satisfied with the results!" Elaine thought deep and hard as she contemplated what he'd just said and the true picture formed in her mind. Billy wasn't delegating her review, he was hiding from it! He was avoiding it, and for good reason. She knew she was a competent secretary, though far from being a fantastic one; and maybe she did tend to stretch her lunch hour a little a few days a week (three or four at most). But none of that mattered because her flirty, teasing nature usually made Billy putty in her hands, allowing him - or causing him (?) - to overlook her less than pristine work habits. (As Georgia liked to tell Billy in private, Elaine was really something of a slut. True, she was a sweet, sincere slut, but she was nonetheless a slut). But Richard? Richard was far more savvy about her behavior and, though he enjoyed her company, was also far more immune to her girlish methods and charms. And what had she just heard Richard say? Salary increase, if any? If any!! It was now painfully obvious that her bosses were watching the bottom line on the budget much tighter this year. Her job certainly wasn't in jeopardy, but her raise just as certainly was. She had prepared herself for the expected session with Billy, but Richard would require a completely different course of action for which she hadn't been prepared. Elaine knew she had to think, and act, fast. "Now, let's have a look..." Richard began nonchalantly as he opened the personnel folder he'd brought in with him and spread it open on the table. Elaine maintained a fixed gaze on him as he flipped through the assorted pages, periodically arching his eyebrows and emitting a low "hmmm...." as he made mental notes. Finally, he reshuffled the papers back into a neat stack and closed the folder as he looked back up at the secretary with a frustratingly "hard-to-read" smile. "Well, Elaine," he sighed, "it looks as if your work continues to be satisfactory, but far from outstanding. You still tend to miss deadlines and you're late returning from lunch far too often, leaving others to cover the phones in your absence. Why, just last week you returned late every day!" "I wasn't late on Thursday!" Elaine quipped eagerly. "You called in sick on Thursday!" Richard replied dryly as his eyebrows arched again. "But I wasn't late!" she quickly returned, shrugging her shoulders, batting her eyelashes, and giving him her best "sweet little girl" grin. "Being on time doesn't count when you're not here at all!" he shot back, his voice completely pleasant but cutting at the same time, then he added, "Boy, it's nice and toasty warm in here." Richard tugged gently at his tie as he spoke, then he stood up and removed his jacket, placing it over the back of the chair. The room was warm, and it was warm for a calculated reason. Elaine had set the thermostat up intentionally so Billy would remove his jacket, just as Richard had done. This was part of her plot to make the whole review atmosphere more relaxed and casual, plus the warmth would have made Billy uncomfortable and more willing to conclude the meeting quickly, with less resistance to her salary request. But again, this was Richard, not Billy, and the heat had no apparent negative effect on him. None of her well-laid plans were working out. "Anyway," Richard continued as he sat down again, "all of us here in the office appreciate your, shall I say, "unique" personality, so we tend to overlook your shortfalls due to your other endearing qualities." "Well, thank you!" Elaine chirped. She'd never actually felt her job was at risk, even with Richard, but it was still nice to hear it. On the other hand, she thought to herself, his comment had sounded something like a pre-rehearsed statement. "Let's finish this up if we can," he went on, "I'll just give you the usual gentle admonishments to improve your performance and recommend a three percent salary increase for you, how does that sound?" "Three percent?....three....," Elaine's voice trailed off and dropped as she slumped back in her chair. She had hoped he would at least offer five percent (with Billy six or seven percent would have been a sure bet), but three? A lousy three percent? "Oh, come one Richard!" she pleaded, "I only get a raise once a year, I'll barely keep pace with inflation at that rate!" "But you will keep pace," he said, "and you really shouldn't expect to do more than that until your work performance improves, and improves significantly!" "But, isn't there anything I can do now, do right now to get a better increase?" Elaine asked, turning on the full femininity machine: big, sad, pleading eyes and pouting lips, expertly combined with just the right touch of feigned sincerity. "If she worked this hard at being a secretary, she would be an outstanding one!" Richard thought to himself as he said with a smirk, "What do you want to do, cut cards, arm-wrestle, or play chess?" "Arm-wrestle? OK!!" she answered happily as she sat up straight and placed her right arm on the table. "I was kidding!" Richard laughed, "and what in heaven's name made you choose that?!" "Simple!" Elaine cooed, "There's no deck of cards here and there's no chessboard!" "True enough," he replied with a snort, "but at least you'd of had a fighting chance with the other two! I should take you up on this just to end the matter!" "So do it!" she challenged, "Quit talking big and put your arm up here! Let's just see if I have a fighting chance with door number two!" "Elaine, you truly are a nut case!" he laughed again as he shook his head, "I'm much bigger than you and at least three times as strong. What is the point of all this?!" His observations caused the woman to pause momentarily and ponder. Then, her face lit up as she realized he had given her the perfect bargaining offer. She knew a three percent raise wouldn't be enough, hardly better than no raise at all, so she really had nothing to lose at this point. "OK, Richard, OK.....," she began, "you say you're at least three times stronger than me, fine, then that's the wager, with three to one odds!" "What do you mean?" he asked, his curiosity getting the better of him. "I mean three to one odds!" Elaine continued, "Put your arm up here! If you win I get no raise at all, but if I win my raise will be nine percent!" "Let's stop all this stupidity!" he sighed, "Just take the raise offered and be glad you're getting that!" He thought that would end the matter, but his words and condescending tone only infuriated her more. "You're afraid - aren't ya, aren't ya!" Elaine teased him as she wiggled the fingers of her right hand in his face. Maybe I'm a little stronger than I look.....or maybe you're a little weaker than you look....or maybe you're a whole lot weaker!" "OK, kiddo, you're on!" Richard shot back sarcastically as he put up his own arm and gripped her right hand tightly, "Three percent back in the company pot just means bigger holiday bonuses for me and the other partners!" He wasn't really angry, but he was happy to but have the opportunity to put Elaine back in her place. Richard had always tolerated her behavior, but he wasn't as forgiving of it as the others in the firm. Maybe after this she'd show him the respect he felt he deserved from her. "You call it, you big, strong man, you!" Elaine squeaked out in a girlish voice. 'GO!" he snapped, and the contest began. Their arms essentially remained at the starting position as Elaine and Richard made only mild, half-hearted attempts against each other, both of them testing the strength of their opponent. Though he'd never admit it to her, Richard was startled and somewhat impressed by the strength Elaine's arm seemed to possess, but he remained certain she'd crumble once he really exerted any degree of force against her. For her part, Elaine began to wonder what she'd foolishly gotten herself into. After all, now that she had time to think about it a little, a three percent raise was better than nothing - it was at least three percent better. Now she'd committed herself to all or nothing. What was she going to do? Both were distracted by a knock at the door as it opened and Nelle Porter stuck her head in. "Sorry to disturb you, Richard, but I need the........huh..?" she stopped mid-sentence as she observed what appeared to be going on at the conference table. "Just give us another minute, Nelle, "Richard called out pleasantly, "this won't take long at all!" Elaine just gave her a quirky smile and said nothing. "Uh, yeah....fine," Nelle whispered as she pulled her eyes off the opponents and withdrew from the room, closing the door with a bewildered expression. The perplexed look on Nelle's face was noticed by John, who happened to be strolling by on his way back to his office. "What's up, Nelle?" John asked, "You look as if you've seen, well, I dunno....what have you seen?" "Don't ask me, John," she replied as she gently nodded her head back and forth, "Richard and Elaine are in there negotiating her annual raise, and it looked like they were arm-wrestling!" "Arm-wrestling?" John repeated, clearly amused. "Yeah, arm-wrestling." Nelle confirmed. "Oh well," he shrugged as he walked away, "I'm sure he won't hurt her! Catch you later!" "Hmmmm, I guess you're right." she responded, thinking whimsically to herself, "Or maybe we should hope she won't hurt him!!" Back in the conference room Richard began to gently, but steadily, increase his pressure and Elaine's arm began to move towards the table. Again, he was impressed at the degree of effort he found necessary to accomplish this, but nonetheless considered her no serious challenge. Elaine was trying harder, but not her hardest, as she saw her raise disappearing before her eyes. "Alright, Richard, alright!" she said, "Let's just stop this. I think three percent stinks but that's clearly going to be your best and final offer." Her heart sank as she said the words. Her "cutesy" ploy would easily have gotten an extra percent or two out of Billy, but she realized Richard wasn't biting. "Sorry, Ms. Vassal, sorry!" Richard chided in a formal, mocking tone, "The wager is set! In for a penny, in for a pound! This is an all or nothing competition, no compromises!" "Oh, stop being so silly, I said I'll take the three percent!" she pleaded, trying to pull her hand free as he maintained a firm grip. "No, no, no!" Richard cautioned, "Pulling your hand out is a forfeit! All or nothing, Ms. Vassal, all or nothing!" "You bastard!!" Elaine screamed in her mind as she braced herself to continue the match and give it her best shot. Richard decided to finish her off so they could get back to more important business and increased his pressure against her arm at a faster pace. He winked at Elaine, closed his eyes, and felt the satisfaction of victory as their arms stopped, apparently due to his having forced hers down to the table, but for some reason the angle didn't feel quite right. The angle wasn't right, and opening his eyes revealed why. Elaine's arm wasn't on the table. Yes, it was a good halfway down to the table, but it wasn't on it. So why, Richard wondered, had their arms stopped? He decided not to waste time contemplating the matter and simply exerted additional pressure to finish Elaine off but didn't succeed in moving her arm any further, much to his surprise. So, he increased his degree of force again, and again......and again......and again. The results of his efforts were uniformly consistent - consistently ineffective. Elaine's arm remained stubbornly where it was, adamantly refusing to move any closer to defeat. Richard started to feel the first twinges of panic when he heard a low grunt emit from his throat and felt the first, small beads of sweat on his forehead. Doing his best to retain his composure, he looked at Elaine............ Elaine sneered and gritted her teeth as Richard winked at her, closed his eyes, and commenced his final assault against her. The smooth but fair-sized biceps in her right arm bulged as she gave it her best and final shot. Whatever strength she had left after this stupid contest she'd use to beat herself up, so as to punish herself for starting this foolishness in the first place. She stared at her arm and concentrated every ounce of strength she had into it. Despite her efforts she felt her arm continuing to go down, down, down. Not wanting to see Richard's smug face when he won, she closed her eyes before she felt their arms stop and indicate his victory. Almost at once she felt their arms halt, but, but....the angle was wrong somehow, and why didn't she feel the table top pressing against the back of her hand? She opened her eyes to see that her arm, wonder of wonders, was still several inches aloft. What's more, it was remaining there. She had stopped Richard's arm - stopped it cold! She could feel him increasing his pressure, but found herself able to match and counter it. The advantage may still have been his, but suddenly his victory no longer appeared to be a foregone conclusion. Even better still, she heard a low grunt come from his direction, causing her to move her gaze from their arms to his face......... He was doing his best to retain his composure, but Elaine had known him far too long and she could see the panic in his eyes. She had actually stopped him from pinning her, and now she was managing to continue fending him off! Her mind raced with glee as she wondered: "Is that really the maximum extent of his strength, is that all he has?" " Can I hold on?" " Can I possibly outlast him - can I actually do it?" "Can I hold him off until he tires out?" The answer to all her questions became clear as she felt him put forth another attempt to force her arm down, and she again countered it successfully. Her confidence boosted by the realization that she still had some strength reserves left, whereas her instincts told her Richard had all but depleted his own. "I can outlast him!" she told herself, "I can pull this off, I can hold him to a draw and by God I will!!" A relaxed calm came over Elaine as she fully understood the extent of her strength and power. She was able to fully offset Richard's continuing efforts to force her arm down without wearing herself out. She knew it was only a matter of time now, and couldn't resist throwing out a few verbal barbs. "My God, Richard!" she teased, "is that really the best you can do? Is that really all you've got?!" Richard couldn't understand how what was happening was happening; he only knew it was happening. He was now pushing on Elaine's arm with full strength but the stout, feminine limb refused to yield any further. Even worse, the bulge in her biceps had actually diminished to a noticeable degree, indicating she was no longer using everything she had to fend him off. Her arm didn't exactly look relaxed or at ease, but nor did it look as if there was any force acting on it one way or the other. There was no overt sign of her struggling against him or resisting him, either, her arm almost seemed to just be casually positioned there. In addition, Elaine was now nonchalantly resting her head on her left hand and looking at him with a sweet grin on her face, she herself betraying no indication of strain or effort. He was completely bewildered. True, her arm was thick, but it looked so soft, so very soft; and he had the top position. The advantage was completely his, so why couldn't he pin her arm?! Her relaxed nature made Richard consider the possibility of Elaine outlasting him, letting himself wear himself down, and then.......... NO!! He rejected the idea just as quickly but it returned to nag at his again.....what if she was just letting him wear himself down? What if she succeeded - what would he do then?? "OK, Elaine, I guess you've proved the extent of your desperation," Richard began with a slight, hardly audible catch in his voice, "this is getting rather silly. You can still have your three percent because I'm in a generous mood and I also have more important things to do!" Unfortunately for Richard, his offer proved to be his undoing, because it was just the concession Elaine needed to confirm the fact that she had him on the ropes. He was running out of steam and now she knew it for certain. "Sorry, Mr. Fish, sorry!" she teased in her little girl voice, further undermining Richard's self-confidence by using his own previously spoken words against him, "The wager is set! In for a penny, in for a pound! This is an all or nothing competition, no compromises!" Her words had the desired effect and a short, shrill squeak of delight broke from her throat as the deadlock was broken and she started forcing Richard's arm back up to the neutral position. She almost couldn't believe what she was doing even as she watched herself doing it. She was astonished, having now truly exceeded her own expectations. Not only had she fended Richard off and worn him down, but she still had enough reserve strength to take back the advantage. She continued applying herself, determined to force him back to the starting position if she could. How embarrassed he would be if she managed to pull out a draw in their test of strength!! Their arms crept back up slowly as the attractive, blond powerhouse continued to impose her will on the struggling man. Just before they returned to the hi-noon point, Richard desperately put another offer on the table. "Alright, alright, Elaine, we'll call it a tie, a draw!" he wheezed, "and I'll....I'll recommend you get a six percent raise, what do you say?" He tried to extract his hand from her grip, but it was like trying to pull it free from a vise. "No, no, no! Pulling your hand out is a forfeit!" she cackled, "All or nothing, Mr. Fish, all or nothing!" She happily stung him with his own words for a second time. Again, his offer had shown his hand and Elaine truly knew exactly how spent Richard was. "Forget about a draw!" she told herself, "I can win this thing - I can win it!!" She looked deeply into his frustrated eyes, winked at him and blew him a kiss. Then, Elaine looked at Richard's humiliated expression again and the basic sweetness of her true nature took over as she understood just how large a blow to his manhood losing to her at arm-wrestling would be. She eased off slightly, letting him regain a very slight advantage and accepted his offer to call it a draw. "OK, Richard!" she smiled, "Six percent it is. Now let's stop this nonsense." "Three percent!" he snapped back as he made a renewed effort to force her down, "and you're lucky to get that. I don't need your offer of a draw to save this firm some money!" He had foolishly misinterpreted her sympathetic action as a sign she was weakening. "That's what I love about egotistical jerks like you!" Elaine gloated as she easily took back the advantage and started forcing Richard's arm down, "You really don't get it, you never do! I wasn't trying to help you save the firm three percent - I was trying to help you save your pride, trying to spare your stupid ego!" "OK! OK!! Six percent! Six percent!!" Richard offered as he watched his arm approaching the table surface with hers firmly atop it. He couldn't stop her - he couldn't even slow her down. "Sorry, Dick-o, this isn't a game anymore! This is about my finances, this is about my livelihood, and I'm not taking any prisoners!" "I said OK to six percent!" he cried. "All or nothing!" Elaine repeated as she continued pressing his arm towards the table, "All or nothing!" "I can't give you nine percent, Elaine, I can't. How would I explain it to Billy?!" "Not my problem!" she spat back as she forced his arm down to a forty-five degree angle and held it there solidly in place, negating all his efforts to force her arm back or pull his hand free. "Nine percent? Please, Elaine...I can't....I......can't!" he groaned, his voice a miserable combination of pain, anguish, and disbelief. "All or nothing, all or nothing, all or nothing.......," she repeated over and over, giving his hand a quick squeeze each time she said it, causing him to winch and yelp between each of her recitations. "Alright....nine percent," the beaten man whimpered, "I don't know how I'll do it, but I'll do it!" "Thank you, Richard, thank you so much!" Elaine gushed as her sweet demeanor returned to the surface, but she didn't free his hand, "Now there's just one more thing.........." "One more thing?" Richard choked out as he continued to struggle against her, "What.....what...thing?" "Just this!" Elaine giggled girlishly as she broke his resistance and slammed his hand to the table in final triumph, "I WIN!!.......I WIN, I WIN, I WIN!!!" she squealed aloud in amazed delight. Part 2 - Ms. Vassal Negotiates Employee Bonuses She released Richard's hand and he yanked it away quickly, then he sat there quietly massaging his very sore arm. This only added to Elaine's self esteem since her arm didn't hurt at all. In fact, she felt like she could do it all again without even resting, so she gave the defeated man a catty grin and put her arm up again. "Wanna try for eighteen percent or nothing?" she snickered. "Oh, shut up!" Richard growled. The beaten man had no sense of humor left and who could blame him? First he'd suffered an ego-busting defeat to the office secretary, and second he had to justify a nine percent raise for her to Billy. Billy, of course, would demand to know why Richard had agreed to such an amount, and Richard could hardly tell him the true reason, now could he? "No need to be so rude!" Elaine miffed, "After all, I beat you fair and square, so just deal with it and get the paperwork started!" "One condition...," he replied bitterly, "leave the justification for your raise to me. There's no reason anyone has to know what happened in here!" "Fine with me!" she chirped, "After all, if you renege on our little deal I can always tell everyone in the office what really happened. If you deny it, I'll just challenge you again, in front of everyone!" Richard grumbled as he notated the hefty raise on Elaine's review form and signed the document. "You realize," he cautioned, with a bit of pleading in his voice, "that Billy has the final say over this, and I can't help it if he decides to overrule me." "I'll cross that bridge when I come to it, if necessary," she responded, "but I do trust you'll do your best to convince Billy the amount is justified." There was another knock on the door. It opened and Ally stuck her head in. "Richard, you have a minute?" she inquired, "It won't take long." "Uh, yeah, yeah..we're just about finished up here," he began cautiously, "we can go into the other........." "Oh, no need," Ally interjected as she entered the room and Nelle followed her in, I just want you to look over this proposal to give the support staff employees, like Elaine here, a larger holiday bonus." "What!" Richard whined, "I dunno Ally, I doubt that....." "WOW!! Sounds great to me!" Elaine gushed as she cut him off. "Oh come on, we've had a very good year!" Nelle added, "The firm can afford it and I think it's a good idea!" "Don't be such a Scrooge, Mr. Fish!" Ally teased Richard, "Just look it over and get back to me as soon as you can, but before next Easter!" she added sarcastically as she withdrew from the room. "Yeah!" Nelle continued, "I'm sure Elaine would appreciate a bonus on top of whatever dismal raise she was able to wrestle out of you!' "What! What!" Richard cried and jumped at the mention of the word wrestle, then remembered Nelle had seen him and Elaine locked up just as they had started. "Easy big guy!" Nelle purred as she patted his shoulder, "It was just a figure of speech! I'm sure the raise you gave Elaine was a fair and thrifty one!" Richard grunted noncommittally as he studied the proposal for the bonuses. While he was distracted Nelle looked at Elaine with a questioning expression. Elaine smiled back at Nelle, winked and, without Richard seeing, held her arm up in the wrestling position and made the motion of pinning her opponent. Nelle's eyes widened in surprise as she silently mouthed the words "You mean....?" Elaine nodded in confirmation as she smiled and flexed her powerful right arm, displaying only a slight hint of a petite, feminine biceps. "Ooommmff!" Nelle spurted as she covered her mouth to contain the laugh that swelled up from her throat. "What, what is it?" Richard inquired as her noise broke his concentration, "What was it you needed?" "Oh, nothing." Nelle spoke in a voice straining to contain a chuckle, "nothing that can't wait!!" Quivering, she left the room quickly and went into hysterics the second she had closed the door behind her, trying her best not to laugh out loud for fear Richard might still hear. Working across the room at a file cabinet, Ally was distracted by Nelle's shaking convulsions. "What is it?" Ally cheerfully inquired, "Come on, share the joke!!" "I'll tell you over lunch!" Nelle giggled as she approached Ally, "Believe me, if Elaine actually did what I think she did, you're gonna love it!" "This is ridiculous!" Richard fumed, "These bonuses are too costly and completely unnecessary!" He and Elaine were still sitting at the conference table. "Oh, just approve it, Ebenezer!" Elaine teased, "You can't take it with you - though I'm sure you'll try!!" "Never mind!" he shot back, "Besides, you've got your raise!" "So what!" she snapped, "I'm thinking of the others, not just me. They deserve more money! The bonus is a great idea, so sign off on that too!" "I'll decide what I sign, thank you!" Richard retorted, "Why don't you get back to work, or what you call work, anyway. You'll be going to lunch soon, no doubt!" "Stingy, stingy, stingy!" Elaine teased as she slumped back in her chair, folded her arms across her chest and stuck her tongue out at him. "Your opinion is noted, Ms. Vassal," he sneered, "and gleefully ignored! Now, as I said, kindly get back to work while I tell Ally to deep-six this stupid........." Richard started to get up but found himself unable to do so, which confused him. He made a second attempt to get to his feet but fared no better. The chair had armrests so he was unable to slide out to either side; to get up he had to push the chair back and clear the table. Again, he dug his heels into the carpet and pushed back and again the chair failed to move in the direction he desired to go, in fact it moved closer to the table, further entrapping him. Realization set in as he glanced across the table at Elaine and saw her fixing him with another devilish grin as she sat low in her own chair, her arms still folded. She had removed her shoes and wrapped her ankles around the legs of Richard's chair, her firm, tanned legs easily overpowering his own and preventing him from leaving the table. "I really think you should approve those bonuses!" she whispered sweetly, "But don't let me rush you, I can wait all day if need be. I'm in no hurry to leave and, trust me, you're not going anywhere until I do!" "That's enough foolishness!" he glared at her, "and I'm leaving right now!" He placed his hands on the edge of the table and pushed back from it for a fourth time, now using the combined strength of his arms and legs to free himself, but again his efforts were fruitless. It was another test of strength; this time his entire body against her shapely legs, and the outcome was determined in far less time than the arm-wrestling contest. The soft but muscular limbs that stretched out from Elaine's short, black skirt held the chair fast with remarkable ease. In fact, they were bent at slight angles, not even pulled out straight, demonstrating her clear superiority. (Of course, though they felt it, neither she nor Richard could actually see this, being it was all going on under the table - fortunately for you, your author can place himself wherever he pleases and see whatever he wants!!). "Let me up right now!" Richard hissed, but kept his voice level to avoid attracting anyone from the office to his dilemma. "That's easy, all you have to do is approve the bonuses," she said as she nonchalantly shrugged her shoulders, "and then we can both leave!" "I won't have you telling me what to do!" he stammered as he braced himself for another shot at getting free from the chair. During their brief exchange Richard had shifted position slightly and altered his tactics before preparing for his next attempt. His hands remained on the edge of the table, but his feet were no longer on the floor. Instead, he had placed both feet on the front edge of Elaine's chair, which he figured would give him the maximum possible leverage against her. His assumption was correct but nonetheless a failure as he strained and struggled in vain, his new tactic only confirming that he lacked the overall body strength to compete with Elaine's legs. Actually, he lacked the strength to compete with Elaine's singular leg, for she had shifted position slightly, too. Elaine had slid one of her feet over to the cross brace of the legs on Richard's chair and curled her heel over it from the top; her other leg was now resting quite comfortably on the carpet. The imprisoned man gritted his teeth and pushed against the table with both arms and against her chair with both legs, but the smiling woman just sat there looking relaxed and content as she kept him snug in place using just one of her powerful legs. Indeed, she increased her degree of force slightly and managed to pull him in even closer, his stomach now pressing against the table itself. "No, NO!" Richard croaked out, as much in humiliation as in strain, "I won't be toyed with and pushed around this way.......I won't!!" "Oh, I think you will Mr. Muscles!" Elaine quipped as she contracted her leg more, pulling him close enough to the table to inflict discomfort on his mid-section. Richard knew that the next pull would take him from discomfort to pain, but he still refused to yield. At this point Elaine realized perhaps her embarrassment of Richard had gone as far as it could, at least in private. She needed to up the ante a bit. She cocked her head in thought as he continued to push against her with absolutely no success, his efforts so puny against her clear physical superiority that she hardly took notice any longer. She smiled wider and her eyes did likewise as she decided on a plan of action. She eased up on her leg a little, allowing Richard to enough room to breath and massage his stomach while still containing him, and called out for Ally. "What the hell are you doing!?" Richard demanded, "I still won't......" "Just be quite and listen and learn, superman!" she sneered, "Learn just how persuasive I can be!" The door opened and Ally strolled in, having heard Elaine call out to her even through the door. "What's up?" she queried, wondering to herself why both of them were taking so long to do a salary review. "Great news, Ally!" Elaine beamed, "Richard thinks the bonuses are a terrific idea, don't you Richard?" "I never said that!" Richard started to say, but what actually came out was: "I never said thaaaaa......!" his voice level rising and changing into a high-pitched squeal as Elaine pressed her free foot firmly into his crotch. "Are you OK?" Ally asked in a worried tone as she observed his odd behavior. "Fu...fu....fu....fine. I'm fine!" he whispered in a still high tone as Elaine eased off her assault on his genitals. "What I meant to say.....," he began cautiously, looking for any sign of disapproval from Elaine, "what I meant is, I never said that the bonuses were a bad idea, Ally, just that they were a little bit too high....yi....yi......yi.....YI!!" He again went into convulsions as the secretary's foot again encountered his manhood, this time massaging them and tickling him instead of causing pain. Ally stared at Richard in total confusion and glanced over to Elaine, totally ignorant of what was actually taking place. He sat there jerking and quivering spastically while Elaine sat across from him looking relaxed and somewhat amused. Ally thought to herself that Richard looked as if someone was under the table tickling him with a feather, having no idea how close to the truth her observations were. "What's going on here!" Ally demanded, "Richard, are you sure you're OK?" "Yes, fu....fu...fine, fine!" he replied in a more normal tone as Elaine again eased off from his family jewels while giving him another warning glance. "We were just exchanging a few jokes!" Elaine volunteered to ease over his plight, "and he keeps replaying the punch lines in his head and going a little crazy I guess!" "Oh, tell me one," Ally pleaded, "I could use a good joke right now!" "I'll tell you at lunch!" Elaine said with a wink, "If I tell you one now poor Richard will just get goofy again, won't you Richard?" she asked as she again jabbed him mildly. "Yeah, yeah!" he gasped, "Too funny, too, too, funny!" "Anyway," Elaine continued, "Richard wants to dictate some memos to me. He had me call you in so you can take this paperwork for my raise and the employee bonuses straight over to Billy, if you don't mind that is." "I don't mind at all!" Ally beamed happily, "You actually signed off on the bonuses, Richard?" "Well, I.........," he began. "He's going to do it right now!" Elaine cut in as she ever so slightly brushed his scrotum with her toes. "Yeah, right!" Richard agreed as he signed the paper, doing his best to keep his hand steady. Elaine uncrossed her arms and assembled the papers into their respective folders neatly, then handed them to Ally with a cheery smile. "I'll rush these right over to Billy!" Ally said. "Please do!" Elaine chirped. Ally withdrew from the room exchanging a final questioning glance with Elaine as she closed the door, silently mouthing the words, "Everything OK?" to which Elaine silently replied, "I'll tell you at lunch." As she walked over to Billy's office Ally shook her head slowly. What was going on in that room this morning, anyway? First Nelle had come out in near hysterics and now Richard was acting like he had ants in his pants. Elaine seemed to be the only one acting like her normal self. Whatever the two of them told her at lunch, she was sure she'd find it very interesting! "Oh, you are such a sweet and generous man, Mr. Fish!" Elaine tittered back in the conference room, "You're such a sweetie-pie! Sweetie, sweetie, sweetie, sweetie......!" With each repetition of the word "sweetie" Elaine gently jabbed her toes into Richard's privates as her other leg continued holding the chair under the table so he couldn't escape. She was still sitting back with her hands now resting behind her head the way men usually do when they're relaxing in their chairs. A casual observer would wonder why the man across from her was fidgeting so much. "You....you....you've got what you waaannnted!" Richard squeaked out, trying to control his tone as his female captor continued toying with his toys, "Wi....wi....wiiiiilllllll....you ple...ple...pleeaaasee..let me leeeaaavvvveee nowww!????" "Soon, sweetie pie, soon! I just wanna make sure Ally has enough time to get those papers to Billy. Then there's just one more thing and we'll be all done!" "Wh.....wha.....whaaaatttttt....eep.....thing?" Richard asked with a genuinely terrified expression. "Just this!" Elaine squealed in her girlish voice as she repeatedly, but gently, jabbed and massaged the trapped man's testicles. "All systems go!" she teased, "Ignition on! Start the countdown!!" She continued working on Richard as she slowly began counting down from ten, watching as the hapless man gasped for breath and his eyes rolled back into his head. He continued struggling though it had no effect on her whatsoever, and even part of Richard's own mind was asking him what he was bothering to struggle for. "BLAST OFF!!" Elaine cried out as Richard's body stiffened, trembled and he ejected his load into his underwear and slacks. She quickly released the chair and jumped up, racing around the conference table as Richard heaved in the final spasms of his orgasm. She pulled the chair out and grabbed the sleeves of his jacket, which was still hanging on the back of the chair. She pulled the sleeves around his torso with his arms underneath and knotted them together, binding him into the chair. "What...what are you doing now??" Richard asked between heaves and gasps. "Just buying a little more time, sweetie-pie!" Elaine replied pleasantly. She knew the jacket really wouldn't hold him very long, but long enough for him to ponder her easy conquest of him. Long enough for him to consider the folly of ever challenging her again, or trying to rescind the commitments he'd made that morning. Elaine kissed him full on the lips, then pecked him gently on the forehead. As she left the room she closed the door behind her with a final comment to Richard. "You'll thank me for delaying your departure," she whispered, "it'll give your pants a chance to dry!!" She withdrew with a final wink and a blown kiss as Richard began fumbling with the surprisingly tight knot she'd managed to make with his jacket sleeves. "Oh man!" he moaned to the empty room, "What'll I do now? A nine percent raise for her and bonuses for the entire clerical staff? Oh man, Billy is gonna tear me a new one!!" Part 3 - Ms. Porter's Powers and Pleasures Just about the time Elaine was initially wrapping her ankles around the legs of Richard's chair, Nelle sat at her desk working on a closing argument for court. Her dictation was interrupted by sporadic giggles as she kept seeing the image of Elaine flexing her "non-biceps" in her head and she wondered what outrageous tale the perky secretary would tell her over lunch. Had she actually beaten Richard at arm-wrestling? That's what she had implied with her gestures, Nelle thought, but it was just too crazy to consider. Her thoughts were broken by John rapping his hand on the frame of her open doorway. "Hey, babe, wanna grab a cup of coffee?" John asked. "Sure," Nelle responded as she stood up, adding,"but please don't call me that in the office! I've asked you more than once!" "Sorry, sorry, let me start over!" he said in a pleasantly teasing tone, "Ah-hum, good morning Ms. Porter, would you care to accompany me to the break room for some caffeine enriched libation?" As he spoke, John stiffened his small frame into the rigid stance of an old-world gentleman. "My pleasure, y'all!" Nelle cooed in a phoney southern drawl, adding in her regular voice, "But really, please don't call me "babe" in the office, OK?" "Understood!" John saluted as Nelle passed him and he fell in beside her, "I will not call you "babe" in the office! Happy now, dumplin'?" he added with a smirk as he grabbed a handful of her ass. "And don't do that either!" she cried as reached back and slapped his hand away, then rolled her eyes in exasperation, "Oh, John, whatever am I going to do with you!?" She really couldn't get or stay mad at him. After all, it was the "little guy's" impish ways that she loved so much; she just wished he'd confine such behavior to their private moments. But then, she thought, you really couldn't change a leopard's spots, could you? "OK, sorry," he whispered in her ear, sounding genuinely sincere, "let's get that java." As they walked towards the break room Nelle found her thoughts returning to Elaine in the conference room and she started grinning again. She looked over at John and pondered how she would do against him in a direct physical confrontation. She was a few inches taller than he was, but she also knew she was slender whereas John appeared very powerfully built in spite of his size (she should know - she'd seen him naked enough times). She dismissed the thought from her mind as they entered the otherwise empty break room and she sat at a table while John poured the coffee and brought it over to her. As he sat down he noticed the smile on her face that told him she was thinking of something funny. "So come on, Nelle, spill it already!" John demanded, "What's so funny? I can see how distracted you are!" "Oh, sorry, sorry," she replied cheerily, "I just can't get that image of Elaine and Richard out of my head. The two of them sitting there hand-in-hand, ready to do battle! It looked so silly!" "Of course it did!" he agreed, "But then, Elaine's head always seems full of silly ideas, she just loves to battle windmills! Anyway, like I said before, I'm sure Richard didn't hurt her, just gently but firmly put her in her place." "And just what does that mean?!" Nelle snapped back in an angry tone, his words having pushed the wrong buttons. John's face cringed as he realized he'd spoken the five words that virtually any woman, and especially a woman like Nelle, hated to hear: "put her in her place." "Hey, hey, hey...!" he soothed quickly, "That was a lousy choice of words, I'm sorry, really! Look, Nelle, I don't mean that socially or politically, you know that!" "Then exactly how do you mean it?" she challenged him. "Well, I mean, come on," he pleaded sincerely, "I mean put her in her place the same way you or Ally could put her in her place if you had to. I mean, let's be realistic about it, she is a secretary here, not a lawyer or a partner!" "So that means she gets no respect?" Nelle huffed as she folded her arms. "Don't put words in my mouth, please!" John shot back, slightly agitated, "My point is that rank does have it's privileges and sometimes Elaine oversteps her bounds here, but we all tolerate it because we're also, to be perfectly honest, very fond of her!" Nelle calmed down as John's words sank in. She had to admit, albeit grudgingly, that his points were valid. Elaine was far from a conventional secretary, and would certainly have a very brief career in any of the more conventional, and conservative, law offices. "Besides," John continued, "I wasn't even really talking about that originally. I was speaking specifically of the physical aspect of it." "The physical aspect of it?" Nelle questioned, not angry but again challenging, "You mean the physical aspect of putting her in her place?" "Well, to be honest, Nelle, yes. Now, don't misunderstand me! I'm not talking about pushing her around or chaining her in the kitchen, but, for her to challenge a man's physical superiority is rather silly. It would be silly for any woman to do it!" "Huh, what does that mean?" Nelle asked as she glared at John. "You said they were arm-wrestling, babe, and that's specifically what I was referring to! You have to agree it was crazy of her to challenge Richard at something like that!" "Why...why?" she shot back in her best attorney voice, overlooking the fact that he'd called her "babe" again, "Why so crazy? Maybe she gave him a good fight! And anyway, who said she challenged him? Maybe he challenged her! In fact, that's probably what happened - leave it to a man to choose such a one-sided contest!" "I honestly doubt Richard would have seriously suggested such an unfair........," John started. "And who says he won?" Nelle demanded, cutting him off, "Maybe she won!! What do you think of that possibility?!" "Oh now that's plain silly!" John laughed, "Where did you get an idea like that!?" "I got the idea from Elaine!" Nelle said directly as she stared firmly at John, "She told me she beat him and I believe her!!" "That's insane! You know what a ditzy-doodle Elaine is!" he laughed, then sighed and shrugged his shoulders, "Look, I don't know how this discussion got started, but I think it's already taken up too much of our time! Milk?" "Huh?" Nelle asked confused. "Milk - for your coffee, milk?" John repeated as he stood up. "I'll get it myself!" Nelle growled as she stood up also, "I wouldn't want you to think the container was too heavy for weak little me to lift!" "Come on! You know that's not what I meant!" John sighed again as the two virtually raced towards the refrigerator. He arrived first and grabbed the handle; she arrived a moment after and placed her hand flat against the door. He pulled on the handle but the door didn't open, prevented by the resistance Nelle was applying. She just looked at him with a smug smile on her face, obviously amused at his failure to meet her initial little challenge. John just shook his head and rolled his eyes upward as he pulled on the door a again with an increased amount of effort, but again it refused to yield. Nelle's smile widened at his second failed attempt to overpower her. "What are you doing?" John asked, his tone confirming that he was getting agitated. "Why nothing, I'm just waiting for my big, strong man to open the door for puny little me!" she teased. Nelle had placed special emphasis on the word "big" as she'd spoken, and her subtle, sarcastic reference to his being shorter than her started pushing his buttons. "OK, I see you're in the mood for games!" John snarled, "But you're out of your league!" He grabbed the handle a third time and, with a satisfied snarl and smug grin of his own, gave the door a firm, solid yank. His snarl stopped mid-growl and fell to the floor with his smug grin when the door still refused to budge even a fraction of an inch. Nelle had felt the force he'd applied and was pleasantly amazed by the relative ease with which she'd resisted it. "I guess I am out of my league, John," she tittered, "I belong in the big leagues, not here in little league with you!" John winced at the word little and huffed, his anger rising, "What, do you want to keep this up until you get hurt? Is that what you want?!" "I'm not hurting at all, my love!" she replied wistfully, "We are talking about hurting physically, right? Or are we talking about hurting pride?" "Oh, stop this!" he hissed as he grabbed the handle with both hands and pulled on the door with a substantial degree of strength. To his credit, the entire refrigerator shook from the force of his pull, but the door remained closed firmly against its body, his attempt to overcome the degree of force Nelle was applying failing for a fourth time. His female opponent could no longer contain her delight at the abrupt reversal of power that was taking place between them. "Let the minutes show that I'm still only using one arm!" Nelle proclaimed as she flexed her free arm and gazed at it. The fabric of her long-sleeved blouse pressed tightly to her skin where her biceps rose against the material. The muscle was a bit more impressive than Elaine's, probably due to Nelle's overall slimmer body, but it was still smooth and petite. Nonetheless, it apparently contained far more brute strength than the biceps of the man standing nearby, futilely pulling on the ice box door. Her gaze returned to her struggling boyfriend as she lowered her arm and placed it akimbo on her trim waist. "This must be some kind of trick!" John stammered, "Ah-ha! That's it!" he proclaimed victoriously as he noticed the keyhole just above the handle, "someone's locked the door!" However, just before he stopped pulling on the door she eased off a bit and it began to open slowly. Nelle allowed John to pull it open about seven or eight inches before she applied enough pressure to stop his progress. "Nope, not locked!" she announced, looking at the gap in the ajar door. Then she casually started pushing the door closed again. Unable, or unwilling, to accept the truth of what was happening, he began pulling frantically on the door again with both hands. Nelle saw this and with a muffled giggle she continued to very slowly push the door shut with just one hand, overcoming John's resistance with an ease that she found as remarkable as he found humiliating. She could have simply shoved it closed with a quick, swift motion, but she was enjoying this infinitely more. The door continued to slowly shut and John, in a last ditch effort to hold it back, placed one off his feet against the adjoining counter. Nelle's mouth dropped open in astonishment as even this effort on his part failed to prevent her from returning the door to it's closed position. "No, no!" John moaned. He continued pulling and yanking on the closed door without causing any change in it's position. Finally, in total frustration, he put his other foot up against the counter and put his entire body into a heroic effort, but a failed heroic effort. Nelle stood there calmly with a beaming grin on her pretty face and just one hand placed flat on the refrigerator door as John pulled and tugged at it with both hands on the handle and both his feet braced against the counter. He was completely aloft, with both feet off the ground, pulling with all the strength his four limbs could generate, but was still no match for the single strong, slender arm of his female lover. "My God!" Nelle squealed with joy, "This is absolutely astounding!!" To her it truly was. It was the first time in her life, or her adult life anyway, that she'd ever tested her physical prowess and the results were proving to be far different than she had anticipated. Nelle had always stayed trim, but never considered herself to be strong in any sense of the word. She cocked her head to one side and moved her gaze away from John, who continued to embarrass himself by stubbornly pulling on the door, as she pondered what she'd just discovered. Was she strong, or was John merely weak, or was it a combination of both? This would take further investigation and research, she decided. Maybe, she though with a smirk, she should consult with Elaine! Nelle's attention was drawn back to John by the progressively louder grunts emitting from his throat as he approached the point of exhaustion from his struggle with the door. "Ready to call it day, babe?" she asked. "This can't be.....," he gasped, "it just isn't possible, it isn't possible........!" Suddenly, John's grip on the refrigerator handle slipped due to the sweat running off his body and he flew backwards; his legs now acting like hydraulic pistons as they quickly straightened and flung him away from the counter. He would indeed have flown across the room if Nelle hadn't shot out her free arm and caught him as he passed her. She wrapped that arm tightly around John's upper body and arms as she removed her other hand from the refrigerator door and wrapped it around his legs. Again, it was the perfect picture of role reversal. Nelle stood there, smiling and erect, with John cradled in her strong arms. It looked like the bride carrying the groom over the threshold; it also looked a bit like a protective mother carrying her son. "Don't worry, little guy, I have you," she teased as she kissed his face and forehead, "and I won't let anyone hurt you - I won't even let you hurt yourself!" "Stop it, Nelle! Put me down!!" John protested. He tried to jump down but she held him too tightly for him to escape. Her arms weren't just holding him aloft, they were also wrapped around him like steel cables. To add insult to injury, she had also called him "little guy", a phrase he hated whether she used it in public or private, since it was another reminder of her taller stature. "I don't wanna put you down!" she cooed, "I like you just where you are........little guy!!" "Don't call me that!!" he fumed as he continued to struggle in her arms. Nelle realized for the first time that she was getting turned on watching him fight to escape her entrapment. It was a combination of her new found sensation of power and his lack of it, plus the fact that he looked so damned cute, just like a little boy struggling against his mommy! "Oh, whatsa matta?? Are we being a Mr. Grumpy little guy now??" she purred as she continued kissing him all over the face. He twisted his head back and forth but couldn't move it far enough to escape her lips. He was feeling the first symptoms of arousal also, but the humiliation of his situation kept it in check. Nelle let out a playful squeal as she removed her right arm from John's legs and let him begin to drop. She moved that hand to his left armpit and slide her left arm around so that hand was under his right armpit. His legs swung down but she held him high enough to prevent his feet from touching the floor. She straightened her arms so she was holding him erect, face-to-face, about two feet in front of her. She looked like a girl holding up her favorite rag doll, or maybe more like a shapely Amazon holding up her favorite little elf. John was totally helpless. He grabbed her arms with his hands; first her forearms, then her upper arms, but was unable to wrench them off his sides. Pushing at her shoulders was likewise ineffective. His useless legs flailed in the air. He briefly considered kicking her but decided that would be a very cowardly thing to do. Considering her clear physical superiority over him, it would also have been a very foolish thing to do. Then Nelle began to stretch her arms upwards, amazed at how easily she was able to hoist John's weight above her head. She performed several repetitions or "sets" with his captive body as easily as any adult would boost a child up and down in a game of upsy-daisy. "Wwwweeeeeee....! This is so much fun!" she exclaimed, as she returned him to a position where they were eye to eye. Then she carried him over to the counter and placed him on it in a sitting position, pressing him back against the wall and pinning him there with her right hand on his chest. John initially grabbed at her arm but soon dropped his hands, realizing it would be fruitless to resist her. After eyeing him sweetly for a few minutes Nelle wrapped her hand around John's tie and pulled him forward. As he slid off the edge of the counter she wrapped her arms around his and placed then firmly on his ass as she stepped back. His arms were trapped, wedged firmly and inescapably between her own powerful arms and her breasts, his legs locked in a sitting position due to her hands embracing his buttocks. John instinctively wrapped his legs around her waist and applied as much pressure as he could, but his effort resulted in no more than her giggling at his puny attempt to inflict discomfort on her. His hands again flailed helplessly as she again smothered his face with wet kisses between her muted giggles. Again, she felt herself getting aroused by her power and his futile resistance and he felt himself getting aroused, even if involuntarily, by the mixture of security, warmth, and helplessness. This is how they were positioned, near the counter but not actually touching it, when Ally strolled by. She had just taken the paperwork from Richard and Elaine in the conference room and was on her way to Billy's office with it when she noticed them. "Hey you two, get a room!" she called out jokingly as she continued on her way. She had walked a few steps further when she wondered if her eyes had been playing tricks on her. She had seen what she assumed was Nelle and John making out, though it was odd that Nelle was the one standing and he the one sitting on the counter. Actually, it had almost looked like he was off the counter, and that Nelle was holding him up, but that couldn't possibly be right, could it? She almost backtracked but decided getting the paperwork to Billy was more important and continued on as she dismissed the impossible thought from her mind. "Yeah, little guy, let's get a room!" Nelle mumbled as she nibbled his ear, "Or at least a stall!" She took the beaten man and carried him out of the break room, striding past the table that now contained two very cold cups of coffee. John's struggles against her were all but nonexistent at this point, and his verbal pleas and protests had ceased completely. She stopped at the break room doorway and verified the coast was clear, then she continued to the office's coed rest room. Her luck held out as she entered and found the rest room empty, so she continued into the first available stall. As she pushed the stall door open John started a final, frenzied attempt to escape her embrace, the same way a cat resists being shoved into a box, but Nelle barely even took note as she carried him in and secured the lock behind her. Staying between him and the stall door, Nelle placed John on his feet and removed his jacket, hanging it on the door hook. He resisted when she removed his trousers, but again his battle was a brief, one-sided, losing one. She dropped his pants to the floor and continued until she had also removed his tie and shirt, which she stuffed into his jacket pockets. This left John standing there in just his shoes, socks, and underwear. Nelle shoved him down onto the toilet seat and jumped onto his lap, wrapping her long, powerful legs around him and the back of the bowl, thereby locking him to it. She again began smothering his face, neck , and shoulders with hot, wet kisses as he moaned in content or embarrassment, or both. He reached to embrace and fondle her breasts but she trapped his wrists in her hands and forced them behind his back. She enjoyed it when he fondled her, but she was enjoying her ability to overpower him even more. She felt John's member harden against her crotch and moaned in delight as she climaxed even though he was denied entry into her; the sheer bliss of her new found power over him being all she needed. She stood up and looked down, giggling at the erect bulge in his underwear topped with a wet spot. He tried to rise also but she placed one hand on his shoulder and easily held him down. "Oh no, no, Mr. Grumpy little guy! You stay in here until you can keep from wetting your nasty little self!" she mocked. She retrieved his pants from the floor as she spoke and forced his arms behind his back again, this time tying them to the flush valve with his own slacks. John resisted when he realized what she was doing, but he was totally drained and she overpowered him and bound him there easily. "Don't leave me here, please, don't!" he begged. "I'll be back in a little bit, little guy, don't worry!" she said wistfully as she withdrew from the stall, adding, "Of course you could call out for help, but then you'd have to explain how you got here!" John let out a low groan of defeat as she closed the stall door. She boosted herself up the outside of the stall door and reached in and down to relock it. She didn't do this so much to give him privacy, but to protect her "little treasure". Her head still whirling from the mornings' events and discoveries, Nelle exited the rest room. Conclusion - Lunch Is On Me As she exited the rest room Nelle came up short against Ally. "Oh, Nelle, is Elaine in there?" Ally asked, "Billy's looking for her." "No, what's up?" Nelle inquired. "Here I am!" Elaine called out as she emerged from the filing room before Ally could respond. She walked over and joined them. "Elaine - in here please!" a voice called from across the room. It was Billy, and he sounded agitated, very agitated. He stood in the doorway of his office, holding what appeared to be Elaine's appraisal form. The three ladies could also see Richard standing meekly in the office and he looked somewhat disheveled. He was holding his jacket, which looked very wrinkled, over his crotch (which was still quite damp). "Careful, Elaine!" Ally whispered low, "I think he's mad about the amount of your raise. If you don't mind my asking, how much is it?" "I'll tell you at lunch!" the secretary whispered back as she strolled towards Billy's office. "Anybody seen John?" Billy asked sharply. Ally shrugged and looked confused at the question, then Nelle spoke up. "He's....he's across town taking a disposition." "Alright!" Billy replied as he walked back into the office with Elaine following. "Close the door, please!" he barked at her. Elaine turned to close the door and winked at Nelle and Ally, saying, "I'll be right out, this won't take very long!" After the door closed Ally turned to Nelle. "Didn't I see you and John in the break room just fifteen minutes ago?" she asked wryly. "I'll tell you about it at lunch............maybe!" Nelle chirped as she blushed slightly. "Boy," Ally muttered, "between you and Elaine this should be one hell of a lunch!" They chatted briefly and were preparing to get back down to work when the door to Billy's office swung open and an absolutely jubilant Elaine emerged with an ear-to-ear grin on her pert, pretty face. As she walked out Ally and Nelle both saw Billy inside sitting at his desk looking dumbfounded and crestfallen. He slumped back into his chair as he massaged his right arm as if it was very sore. Richard was leaning on the nearby credenza with a "I told you so" look on his face, his jacket still over his crotch. "What happened in there, Elaine?" Ally asked in a befuddled tone. "Yeah!" Nelle joined in, "What's the story girl!?" "Like I said," Elaine snickered as she grabbed her handbag from her desk, "I'll tell you both at lunch, let's go!" "It is a little early to leave for lunch," Ally volunteered, noticing the clock showed 10:45 am, "isn't it?" "Don't worry, it's OK!" Elaine assured them as she looked back into the office, "Right Billy?" He looked up from his desk but remained silent and continued massaging his arm. "Let's step out, ladies!" Elaine proclaimed as she pressed for the elevator, "Lunch is on me today!" The elevator arrived and the trio of women stepped in. "No, Elaine, no!" Ally protested, "We'll treat you!" "Yeah, we've got expense accounts!" Nelle chimed in. "Nope! Lunch in on me!" Elaine insisted, "I'm celebrating and you're my guests! After all, how often does a secretary get an eighteen percent raise!!!" Ally and Nelle's jaws dropped open and their eyes bulged as they both exclaimed, "EIGHTEEN PERCENT!!!" The elevator doors closed and the trio descended. Happy Holidays and Happy Millennium folks. See you in the next century if Y2K doesn't wipe us all out!! - BeegBoy
