The Island Chapter 1 Written by Archie-Fan betty_cooper72@gmail.com During the senior class trip the students of Riverdale High find themselves stranded on a mysterious island The senior class of Riverdale High were all on board an American Airlines Boeing 777 which was flying from New York to Madrid. The flight was the first part of the year end senior trip to Europe. There were only 20 students on the trip along with two teachers, Miss Geraldine Grundy and Mister Harold Fine. Grundy was an English teacher while Fine taught History. It was a little bit over 4 hours or so into the nearly 7-hour flight. Archie Andrews returned to his seat after using the bathroom. He was seated in the middle aisle along with his friends Jughead Jones, Reggie Mantle and Betty Cooper. "Man I am so excited," Archie commented as he sat back down in his seat. "I can't wait to land. This is gonna be so cool." "I know," Betty agreed. "I can't wait till we go to Paris, Veronica told me so much about it. She would have loved this." Veronica was referring to Veronica Lodge, an old friend of theirs. They had not seen Veronica in almost four years and didn't know if she was still alive. Veronica's father Hiram Lodge was a brilliant inventor and he'd made billions off of inventions in technology like electric cars, water purification systems, space exploration technology etc. But then four years ago he had suddenly packed up and vanished along with Veronica and his wife Hermione. Nobody knew where they had gone and it had been a mystery that sparked public interest for almost year. There were all sorts of theories about what had happened or where they had gone which ranged from something like a plane crash, to them being abducted by aliens, to them living secretly in Antarctica. "She would also be complaining about having to sit in Economy with us, unless she got herself upgraded to first class," Jughead commented. "That's probably true," Betty admitted. "Who knows maybe we'll run into her in Rome where she's been hiding out and wearing a platinum blonde wig," Reggie suggested. "I very much doubt that Reggie," Archie said. "I mean their disappearance was world-wide news and I'm pretty sure somebody there would have recognized her or her parents." Suddenly the plane jolted up and down and the seatbelt sign came on. Everybody made their way back to their seats and buckled up. Archie noticed Betty tightly gripping the armrests of her chair, she wasn't a big fan of flying. "It's okay Betty," Archie said. "It's just a little turbulence." However the turbulence seemed to have stopped but everyone could tell the plane was banked to the right. "Why are we turning?" somebody near the back of the plane asked. The flight attendants had no answer. The plane was still more than two hours away from landing. The skies were clear so it seemed unlikely that they were flying around a weather system. But when they tried to contact the cockpit on their phone there was no response. The lead flight attendant made her way to the cockpit door and knocked trying to get a response. Inside the cockpit the pilots were fighting with the controls. They were both trying to stop the plane from banking to the right and descending but the plane seemed to have a mind of its own. "What's going on here?" The first officer asked in a panic. "I have no idea, the autopilot seems to have a mind own," the captain replied. "Try pulling the breaker to shut it off." The first officer skimmed through a schematic of the breakers looking to find the one he needed to shut the auto-pilot system off. Once he did he got up and pulled the breaker. "What the?" the captain exclaimed. "I still don't have control. The auto pilot light is off! What is controlling the plane?" The first officer looked at his own instruments trying to figure something out. "I don't know but we're way off course and we're losing altitude," the first officer said. "I'm going to try reducing thrust to the left engine, that should at least alleviate the bank," the captain said. He pulled back the throttle lever for the left engine. However when he looked at his instruments the power readings to the engine remained the same. "What the, we don't have throttle control!" the captain exclaimed. "I'm going to declare a mayday," the first officer said. The captain nodded in agreement. "Mayday! Mayday! This is American Airlines Flight 94, we have lost control of our aircraft and our descending slowly in a spiral!" the first officer reported into the radio. Instead of the expected response however there was simply silence. The first officer repeated his call but again there was no response. "We've got no radio either!" the first officer shouted. "What the hell is going on?" The captain exclaimed. ****************************************************************************** ***************** Back in the cabin the passengers were all wondering the same. They could tell that the plane had descended but so far there had been no explanation. Panic was starting to set in as the only thing anyone could see for miles was the expanse of the Atlantic Ocean which was getting closer and closer. As the plane descended to below 5000 feet suddenly and island appeared out of nowhere. "Look it's land!" somebody shouted. Dilton Doiley, Riverdale High resident nerd was sitting in a window seat in the same row as Archie, Betty, Jughead and Reggie. "That doesn't make any sense, there shouldn't be an island of that size at all," Dilton stated. "Who cares it's land," Reggie said. "But that island... the shape of it, it's a perfect circle. It doesn't seem natural," Dilton said. The island soon vanished from view as the plane turned towards. "The pilots are going to try and land us on the island!" someone shouted. There were cheers throughout the cabin but a few people were a bit apprehensive, Dilton, Betty, Archie and Jughead among them. ****************************************************************************** ***************** In the cockpit the captain and first officer were terrified and confused. They still had no control of the plane whatsoever and on top of that and island had suddenly appeared out of nowhere and the plane was now heading straight towards it. "Where did that island come from?" the first officer asked. "I have no idea," the captain replied. "But it seems like the plane wants to head right for it." "Do you think something on that island is what's controlling the plane?" the first officer inquired. "Given everything that's just happened that seems the most likely scenario," the captain responded. "But then just who or what is down there?" As the plane got closer the two pilots got a better view of the terrain. The island was a rather unnatural circle, the shores were surrounded by thick jungle but in the interior were what appeared to be farmland and in the middle something that looked like a small town although they couldn't be sure from where they were. "Those look like buildings, do you think there are people on this island?" the first officer asked. "Maybe," the captain replied. "But there don't appear to be any roads or anything to land on." "Well we can try for one of the fields," the first officer said. "We can't try anything," the captain responded. "We still don't have any control." They were then met by the sound of the engine's throttling down and the flap and slats extending. The two pilots could only look on as the plane approached the island. "We're coming in to low," the first officer remarked. "You're right we're going to hit the trees," the captain agreed. Both of them instinctively pulled back on their flight controls, however the plane didn't respond. The two of them were helpless as the plane descended slowly into the threes. The plane began jolting around as it hit the tops of the trees and struggle to stay aloft before descending down into the trees. The wings of the plane were torn off and the fuselage continued on. The pilots were killed as tree branches crashed from the windshield impaling them. The wreckage final came to a rest in a small clearing. ****************************************************************************** ***************** In the cabin the passengers looked around. They had been surprised by the sudden crash landing as there had been no warning. Archie undid his seatbelt and stood up. He had survived the crash relatively unscathed except for a couple of bumps. Beside him he could see that most of his friends and classmates had survived as well. "Come on Betty, Jughead, Reggie, we need to get off the plane," Archie said. They got up and looked around. The left side of the plane had a large gash where a tree had torn into it. The first few rows of people had been killed from either the impact or by being impaled. Archie and his friends were able to climb out through the whole and into the clearing. All around the other surviving passengers were evacuating and gathering, everyone getting clear of the plane in case it was to catch fire. Archie saw that both their teachers Mr. Fine and Miss Grundy had survived and were gathering together the other students in one group. As they did a head count they found that almost everyone in their group had survived. The lone exception was Jason Blossom and his twin sister Cheryl was almost inconsolable. Looking around Betty noticed something. "I don't see the pilots or any of the flight attendants," Betty remarked. As the others looked around they didn't see any of the crew members either. However there were a lot of survivors amongst the passengers, probably two hundred or more. But while the students and teacher of Riverdale High were relatively uninjured there were other groups which had some more severely injured members. With no crew members nobody knew who should take charge. A debate soon broke out amongst the passengers as to who should take charge and what they should do. While it was agreed that they needed to find shelter and help the more seriously wounded nobody could agree as to who should do what or how to go about it. Two men, one a self-important businessman the other more of grizzled outdoors looking person looked about to come to blows with one another as they got in each others faces and shouted. The students and teachers of Riverdale simply watched this all not getting involved. Just then Archie heard a noise from the treeline. He turned around to see an absolutely gigantic woman emerge from the trees. She had to stand at least nine feet tall body rippling with absolutely enormous muscles. She had long wavy brown hair and green eyes and the face of a model. She wore a sort of sling bathing suit looking garment made of some sort of silvery metallic material that did little to cover her hulking physique particularly her enormous breasts which were the size of medicine balls and stood out on her chest in defiance of gravity. The outfit just barely covered her nipples and her areola were partly visible. On her left wrist she had some sort of device that reminded Archie of the Pip Boy 3000 from the video game Fallout, although it looked to be sleeker and more advanced. The survivors all fell silent as more women emerged from the jungle surrounding the crash site, about eight of them all together. The other seven were not quite as tall as the first but even the shortest was close to eight feet tall. All of them wore similar sling bikini outfits, although there were white or black and they also all had the same wrist devices. Nobody was really sure what to do. However the business man decided that he was going to take charge. He walked towards the largest woman. "Now look here," he said. "We've got a bunch of wounded people so we need your help..." He was cut off as the woman palmed his head with her huge hand. It looked almost like she was holding a tennis ball. With barely any effort the woman squeezed her fingers into a fist crushing his head to pulp in an instant, his headless corpse fell to the ground. The survivors were absolutely terrified, this woman had killed him without batting an eye. However they were surrounded and had nowhere to go. "Listen up you insignificant worms," the woman said as she flicked some of the gore off of her hand. "I am Abigail and all of you are now our slaves. I want you to divide yourselves into males and females." "What about or injured who can't be moved?" somebody asked. In response the person asking the question was abruptly killed by one of the other women, a red head who was the second tallest there, by having their head ripped off. The remaining six women then went about systematically killing anybody who appeared wounded, stomping them flat, ripping them in half or crushing them with bare hands. "Those who are injured are of no use to us. Neither are those who ask questions," Abigail said. "You will follow the commands of myself or any of these women. Now split into groups." The survivors quickly did as ordered, quickly splitting into group splitting into two groups. Abigail stood in front of the two groups along with the red-headed woman and a tall muscular blonde with absolutely enormous tits. "Males you will follow Bianca," Abigail said indicating the blonde, then turned towards the red-head. "Females you will follow Lauren." Abigail then turned and began walking through the jungle with Lauren and Bianca following close behind. The survivors followed behind them into the jungle wondering just what fate awaited them.
