Riverdale Serial Killers - Chapter 4 by Archie Fan - betty_cooper72@yahoo.ca Detective Glass gets FBI help in trying to solve the murders The gap between murders hadn't lasted long. It had only been three days since the boys at the school had been killed and till the event that the media was calling "The Diner Disaster" occurred. There were only two victims, the diner owner Pop Tate and a local teenager named Raj Patel. As part of his job Detective Glass had interviewed dozens of people who had known Raj. He never ate at the diner as his religion forbid eating beef and the diner was known pretty much for its burgers. So Detective Glass had to try and figure out why this boy had even been in the diner in the first place. It didn't take long for him to learn that Raj had a habit of videotaping the girls in his grade. He was known for always having his camera on and recording. For a moment Detective Glass became hopeful that they might have some video evidence. But after carefully combing over the crime scene Raj's camera could not be found and the CCTV recordings from the diner's own security cameras was missing. But Glass did have another clue as to who was responsible. Since Raj was always videotaping girls in his grade it could easily have been any of the three girls he had singled out earlier. If he could place any of them in the vicinity of the crime scene he might be able to get permission to question them. The media was still blaming Svenson for the murders, but the Sherriff had finally agreed with Glass that at the very least there had to be an accomplice. From what they had managed to recreate from the crime scene Pop Tate had been attacked while Raj was being killed across the diner. It wasn't possible for somebody to be in two places at once. The Sherriff had asked the FBI for assistance and they had sent a member of their Behaviour Analysis Unit to consult on the case. The agent, Special Agent Ross had shown up that afternoon. After going over the crime scene as well as the previous murders with Glass he'd come to many of the same conclusions. The murderers consisted of at least two females. They seemed to suffer from some sort of sexual sadism disorder, clearly the murders left them sexually aroused. Ross was also confused by the forensic evidence of the deaths and how the victims had been killed. Glass shared his suspicions of the school secretary and the girls with Ross. Ross wasn't sure how they could all be capable of the crime and there was no evidence linking them to any of the crimes but after seeing the footage that Glass had found earlier Ross came to have similar suspicions. He suggested that Glass keep an eye on them while Ross took over the lead in the investigation. To make things seem even more believable the police department made it seem as if Glass was being temporarily suspended, although he wasn't. Glass did his best to keep an eye on the girls. But unfortunately they were rarely all together. He was least concerned with Polly Cooper as she spent a great deal of time with others at her job at the TV station. Of the others he figured that the school girls were the ones more likely to slip up and leave evidence, he and Agent Ross suspected that all of the bodies they had found so far had belonged to them but that there were likely more who belonged to the other two. Accordingly Glass focused his time on the three school girls that they knew about. But then one night he lost track of Betty Cooper and Cheryl Blossom he had no idea where they were. The following morning a state trooper and his patrol car were reported missing. Glass had a suspicion that the two girls were responsible for his disappearance, but as with Svenson's disappearance there was no evidence. The following day he attended a Riverdale High football game. Betty, Cheryl and Ginger Lopez were all there cheering the football team on as members of the cheerleaders. As he watched them he had a hard time seeing how these three girls girl could be the perpetrators but the profile that Agent Ross had come up with suggested that the killers were sociopaths completely capable of blending in and appearing normal. Riverdale High ended up winning the game which meant that they would go onto represent their county for the state championship, it was a big deal after the death of three players earlier. Afterwards there was going to be an impromptu celebration out in the woods near Lake Jones. Glass was worried because it would provide an excellent area for them to strike without having to worry about being seen and he would have a hard time keeping watch without being noticed. He didn't want to draw any attention towards himself, his observation was supposed to be secret, so he reluctantly decided not to go out to the party. Instead Glass stayed home and opened a cheap bottle of Scotch as he went over the case files for the umpteenth to see if there was anything he missed. ************************************* The party out by the lake was in full swing. There was a raging bonfire and copious amounts of alcohol. It was the first time that Riverdale High was going to play for the state championship ever, as good a reason to celebrate. They were also celebrating the memory of the three dead players. The sun had long since set and it was approaching midnight but the party was still going. Archie Andrews was near the center of attention. He had caught a game tying touchdown pass and his friend and rival Reggie Mantle had ended up rushing for the game winning touchdown. Archie wasn't really much of a drinker normally, but he was completely wasted. He couldn't handle another drink and he needed to sit down. He staggered away from the party to where his car was parked. Archie had no intention of driving home but he figured he'd just lie down in the back seat and hope the world stopped spinning. He had been lying there for about three minutes when Veronica Lodge came over. "Archie-kins are you not feeling well?" Veronica asked. "I'm... the world is spinning," Archie stammered. "Definitely had too much to drink." "Oh let's get you home," Veronica said. "I'll call Smithers to come pick us up." "Okay but can you find Betty," Archie said. "She wasn't drinking and she said she would drive my car home. I just want her to know that you're taking me home so she's not looking for me." Archie's vision was so fuzzy he couldn't see the look of annoyance on Veronica's face. But she ended up agreeing. "Alright fine," Veronica said. "Do you know where she is?" "She was hanging out with the other cheerleaders," Archie said. Veronica had been a cheerleader the year before, but the cheerleading squad had become more focused on having athletic and co-ordinated cheerleaders and Veronica wasn't particularly athletic or co-ordinated so she hadn't made the squad. Veronica figured that was there loss for not having the prettiest girl in the school on the cheerleading squad, although several boys would have debated that she was the prettiest girl. Being cut from the squad had opened up a bit of rift in Veronica's friendship with Betty because Betty was one of the co-captains of the cheerleading squad so it had been her decision not to have Veronica on the team. Betty had said that it wasn't personal but Veronica was certain that it was. They still spoke and did things together but not nearly as often as they used to. Especially since Betty's older sister had moved back to town. Betty seemed to spend more time with her sister now than anyone else. Veronica asked around to find out where Betty had gone and some people had said that they had seen her go into the forest with a few of the other cheerleaders as well as a few college aged boys. Veronica was a little reluctant to follow having a good idea what she was going to come across, but Smithers was going to be here soon to pick her up and she didn't want him waiting or he'd report back about what was going on to her father and that would be a whole other can of worms she didn't want to deal with. Sighing to herself Veronica marched into the forest to try and find Betty. She made her way through the forest, the light from the bonfire was enough for her to see at first but soon it became too dark so she had to take out her phone to use as a light. She came across a rather muddy section with foot prints heading further into the forest. Veronica could tell that it was both boys and girls from the size of the feet and figured she was on the right trail. She continued on into the forest as the light and sounds of the party faded away behind her. Soon she could barely hear the sounds of the party. "Geez where were you guys going?" Veronica muttered to herself. "Smithers is going to be here and I'm going to be in crap with my dad." She was just about to turn around and head back when she heard a terrified scream that abruptly ended. Veronica froze where she was not sure what she had just heard. It had sounded like a male voice that had been screaming and it hadn't seemed that far away. Veronica was torn between running back to the party and seeing what that had been. She quickly decided to investigate, she would feel awful if somebody needed help and she had just run away. Veronica turned off the light on her phone so she wouldn't be seen and continued cautiously in the direction of the noise. As she got closer Veronica thought she could hear the sound of girls giggling. Veronica wondered if perhaps Betty and whoever she was with had just been playing some kind of joke. Still Veronica continued on carefully not wanting to be seen immediately just in case. There was a nagging voice in the back of her head telling her to run. Veronica soon approached a small clearing. At the center of the clearing was a small pond and Veronica could here splashing. As Veronica peered through the darkness she could see three figures splashing about in the water. She crept closer and could see that they were all girls. One of them was probably Betty. Veronica stepped out into the clearing and was about to call out to them when she tripped over something. Veronica got up and looked to see what it was and quickly realized that it was a leg. However the leg was no longer attached to a body but was just lying on its own like a fallen tree branch. There was blood dripping from the top of the leg indicating that it had been severed very recently. Veronica looked around and she saw a severed arm just a few feet away and near that a large pile of gore that had probably been a torso. Veronica held back the urge to scream. "I just loved how he desperately tried to pry my legs apart," Veronica heard one of the girls say. "As if his puny little arms could do anything to my thighs." Veronica immediately recognized the voice as belonging to Ginger Lopez, another cheerleader. "I still find it better to just suffocate them with my tits," another girl said. "Right before crushing them to pieces." Veronica recognized the voice as belonging to Cheryl Blossom. Veronica wasn't exactly sure what they were talking about. "Looks like what Betty is trying is fun though," Ginger said. "How's he doing down there?" "I don't know let's ask him," Veronica heard Betty say. As Veronica watched the silhouettes in the pond one of them reached underwater and pulled something up from underneath. At first Veronica thought it was a somewhat large doll but then it started coughing and spitting out water and Veronica realized that it was a person. "Looks like he's still alive," Betty said making all three of them laugh. Veronica was confused the boy in Betty's hands looked like a child compared to Betty. "Fuck you bitch," the guy said spitting water on Betty. "Oh you shouldn't of done that," Cheryl said happily. As Veronica watched Betty grabbed the man by each shoulder and growled. The growl turned to a roar as she literally tore his torso in two. Organs and blood spilled out from the two halves of the body splashing onto Betty and into the pond. Cheryl and Ginger cheered the scene of carnage while Betty moaned with pleasure as she held the two halves of the body aloft the blood dripping down onto her. It was then that Veronica finally noticed just how muscular Betty, Cheryl and Ginger all appeared. They were absolutely massive, far bigger than anybody that Veronica knew even big Moose. Veronica then realized that they were probably responsible for the locker room murders and for Raj and Pop Tate. Veronica had no idea how they had grown so big. She had seen them probably less than an hour ago and they had just been normal teenage girls. But Veronica knew that she had to get back to the party and she had to tell the police what she had seen. Veronica scrambled to her feet and began running back towards the party. "Did you hear that?" Veronica heard Cheryl say. "Sounds like we've got a witness," Ginger said. Veronica ran as fast as her legs would carry her. She stumbled over a tree root and nearly fell on her face but she was able to keep her balance. She glanced back to see if they were chasing her but Veronica heard nothing. But as soon as she turned around she ran smack into a tree and fell to the ground. Veronica groaned as she got to her feet and then the tree in front of her moved. Veronica looked up and suddenly realized that it wasn't a tree, it was Betty's leg. Betty towered over Veronica standing at least seven feet tall, obscenely large muscles bulging from every part of her body. "Well, well, well, look who it is girls," Betty said as staring down at Veronica with a frightening grin on her face. Veronica heard footsteps behind her and saw Ginger and Cheryl approach, both of them just as tall and muscular as Betty. "Veronica Lodge," Cheryl said almost gleefully. "This is just too good." "I... I won't tell anyone," Veronica stammered. "I promise I'll keep my mouth shut." "Oh that's rich, you keeping your mouth shut," Ginger said with a laugh. "Everyone knows you're the biggest gossip in the whole school." Veronica couldn't exactly argue with that. She had blabbed secrets about every girl on the cheerleading squad after she had been cut as a way to get revenge. "I... I... please..." Veronica pleaded. "I'm sorry, I'm sorry for what I said. I'll never say anything about any of you ever again." "I believe you Veronica," Betty said. Veronica smiled up at Betty. She knew that she and Betty were still friends. "Because dead people don't talk," Betty added. The smile vanished from Veronica's face. "No, please, we're friends," Veronica said. "I mean people will be looking for me." "Do you think we really care about that?" Cheryl asked. "We know that you've seen what we can do." "Cheryl please no you can't do this," Veronica said. "You can't kill me." "Oh I most certainly can," Cheryl said. "But I won't." Veronica had hope for a second. "Because the pleasure will all be mine," Betty said. Veronica didn't get a chance to scream or say anything before Betty's huge hand wrapped around her throat. Veronica weakly tried to pry the hand off but she soon blacked out. The last thing she saw was the sadistic smile of pleasure on the face of the girl that she thought was her best friend. To be continued...
