Sonnet #1 by Poet Vic She comes to me in phrases few and terse. A voice in letters there upon my screen, The Valkyrie, Diana, now my queen. And I a subject of her universe, Where women hold the reins with awesome power, While men like me whose strength was once supreme, Can only harken back as in a dream, Then looking forward, choose to fight or cower. And she a hidden goddess looking on At worlds that men were never meant to see. I feel somehow she's looking straight at me, And I return the gaze, but she is gone. Could I but lay my head upon her breast, No creature on this earth would feel so blessed. Poet Vic, March 23, 2000
