Supergirl: The Green Eyes of Jealousy http://mad-man-with-a-pen.deviantart.com/art/Supergirl-The-Green-Eyes-of-Jealousy-560386275 "I can't believe it!" The frustrated and angry outburst came from Caitlin Huntington as she stormed into the bedroom. Her narrow but lovely face was contorted with disgust as she pushed past the bedroom door; her silky brown hair, styled in a series of gentle curls down to her shoulders, bounced with every angry stride. A purple dress which hung off of one shoulder wrapped around her down to her knees where the dress opened up slightly showing off her stocking clad legs. Angrily she lifted her leg and removed one of the several hundred dollar designer dress heels she had been wearing. With a grunt the woman tossed it against a nearby piece of furniture. "My love," she turned to stare daggers at Johnathan Huntington, her husband, "I know you're angry dear but those shoes did cost quite a lot." Caitlin like a spoiled child took her other heel off and threw it as well, "We can buy another pair!" True but I'd prefer to get more than one wearing out of $700 dollar shoes, Johnathan thought with a hidden sigh. "Still my dear, I hate to see you angry." "I can't believe it!" Caitlin snapped again as she sat on a small bench in front of a dresser. It featured a rising mirror which Caitlin used to apply makeup, "She stole my night, stole my moment!" Caitlin's dark green eyes stared into the mirror, specifically to the reflected image of her pin. Located just above her left breast on the rising elements of her one shouldered dress, it was a silver comet which featured a diamond center. The pin was the symbol of the Huntington Foundation, which Caitlin was the head of. Johnathan was undoing his tie which he absentmindedly noted wasn't as expensive as Caitlin's shoes, "If you recall everyone was clapping for you." She spun in her seat seething, "No! They were clapping for her, for Supergirl!" Johnathan knew that his wife was probably right. They had just gotten back from an awards dinner held by the mayor of National City. Different charitable or special organizations had been honored with the most prestigious award going to the Huntington Foundation. No, going to Caitlin, Johnathan corrected himself. The Huntington Foundation did help people, but that wasn't Caitlin's motivation in running it. Her motivations were far less than idealism or a need to give back to others. When she had married Johnathan Huntington, a man who had come from money, she had also married into high society. She craved the attention of the elite of National City, to be talked about, to be envied, and even to be talked about behind her back. So a night where all her charitable actions gained her citywide fame and fortune, well that was something Caitlin would have salivated over. Of course there's only one other woman in National City who could steal that much attention, he noted dryly. Had the mayor tipped him off to the surprise, Johnathan probably could have saved himself a lot of trouble. He could have warned the mayor off the idea of having Supergirl show up and present the award to Caitlin. Of course he had been as surprised as everyone else when the mayor, rather than giving the award herself, had introduced Supergirl. "Everyone, EVERYONE!" Caitlin stammered as started removing her earrings, "Was staring at her when she arrived." The Girl of Steel had indeed made an entrance, descending through an open skylight. Even Johnathan had to admit (something he'd never do in front of his wife) that he'd been captivated by her. She wore the same red and blue costume as her cousin with a few variations. Supergirl's leotard top featured some red stitching across the chest and arms. The famous S shield was red but outlined in gold. A gold belt clenched at the waist might have held the short red skirt which swished slightly over the top of Supergirl's thighs. Her cape was long and went down to her knees. The heroine's legs were dressed in some dark sheer tights, probably for modesty, Johnathan had decided at the time but also reflected how they made the Girl of Steel's legs look even sexier. Those sexy legs were completed with some knee high boots, red like her cape and skirt. Supergirl's face was a mix of girl next door beauty; a bright smile lips with darker blonde hair that went down to her shoulders. Landing on the stage the heroine had waved and thanked everyone for attending. Johnathan had glanced at Caitlin during this seeing her maintaining a clear face. However the man knew his wife and could tell, she was seething underneath the smile. After the mayor had paved the way for Supergirl to take the podium the Last Daughter of Krypton began to speak. Supergirl had shared details of the foundation's work and how many people that Caitlin's work had assisted. "Many people call me a hero," the heroine had said during her speech, "But I'm just here to help. Real heroes can be found in the city's police, first responders, and people like Caitlin who work to help so many people more than I could ever save." The roam applauded of course and for a moment, Johnathan hoped that his wife's anger would be subdued but the applause in her name. A quick glance as his wife rose to accept the award from the city showed that it hadn't. "And that applause for her speech," Caitlin shook her head standing from the dresser. She reached around trying to undo her dress. Johnathan came over to his wife and began undoing it. "Applause for you love," he tried again, knowing it probably wouldn't work. She rolled her eyes in disgust, "No, for her for Super-girl." The dress came free and she shed it from her body, standing in the slip she had worn under the dress and stockings, their lacey tops gracing her thighs. Caitlin turned and looked Johnathan in the eyes, "Everybody loves her, who always comes up where we go? Supergirl. Who is always on TV? Supergirl." Johnathan rubbed his wife's shoulders, "She's ... popular honey, but ... " "She stole my night," Caitlin hissed, "I ... I should steal something from her." Now his wife was being a bit fanciful, "Honey ... " "She needs to be taken down a peg, to get a little humiliation." Caitlin growled as she walked away towards the bathroom. Johnathan sighed upset that Caitlin had become so perturbed by the evening. He proceed to undress himself and prepare for bed; wondering if a night's sleep would sooth Caitlin any. ....................... A restless Johnathan stirred wondering why he couldn't sleep. Normally the reason was his wife wasn't there with him. Sure enough he rolled over and confirmed that his wife wasn't there. Confused as she had been there when he had nodded off; he got up and started looking for his wife. Caitlin was one who enjoyed her beauty sleep so it was unusual for her to be out of bed this late. A search of the kitchen, entertainment area, and other bathroom revealed nothing. Surprisingly, he found her in his office staring at the computer in the room. The electric glow of the monitor illuminated her features and the way she leaned in showed that Caitlin was deeply involved in reading something. "Caitlin, what are you doing up?" "Researching," was her only answer to invested in what she was reading to look away. Confused as to what could possibly be interesting his wife at this hour he padded over and looked around to see what she was reading. The webpage was dedicated to all things superhero and from what else he could see it was some sort of forum discussion page, Superhero Weaknesses was the title of the thread. Being the head of a multinational company Johnathan had excellent skimming skills. Being talked about was rumored weaknesses of the Superman and Supergirl. "Kryptonite?" he read aloud, "Why in the hell are you reading about something that sounds made up at this hour?" "Because as far as I can tell ... this is Supergirl's weakness." Caitlin hadn't been able to sleep. Her mind kept replaying the events of the evening and Caitlin couldn't focus on anything but Supergirl. Since she had woken up, Caitlin had been trying to read up on the superheroine. More specifically, she had been looking for a way to humiliate Supergirl. And now I've found it, she thought. "Babe ... " Johnathan started to say. "If we can get some of this Kryptonite ... get it near Supergirl," she was thinking out loud. Johnathan rolled his eyes, "Caitlin you're not one of those costumed crazies on the news." She turned to glare into Johnathan's eyes, "Johnathan, she ruined my event, stole everything that this night was supposed to be about." She reached in and touched Johnathan's thigh, "Love, she humiliated me." If Johnathan Huntington had one weakness it was that he loved his wife. Even when he knew she was making mistake, he couldn't help but try to make her happy. The loving but tired husband sighed and took another glance at the screen, "Is there anything else on this rumored Kryptonite?" "It's supposed to be pieces of her home planet, dropped here apparently when Superman and Supergirl showed up." As she said that Johnathan felt something click in his mind. A mining portion of his company had discovered something interesting a month earlier. Something so interesting that one of their competitors Lex Corp had offered a lot for it. It had been too good of a deal to pass up. However, "What if I could get my hands on this? What would you do?" Caitlin's lips turned up in a sinister smile, "I'd simply show everyone that Supergirl isn't infallible, isn't perfect, I'm going to humiliate her Johnathan." He wasn't sure why but hearing his wife talk like that, excited the man. And with that he made his decision. ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... The moonlit sky was beautiful to Supergirl as she soared through the clouds. I still can't get over how amazing this feels! Kara closed her eyes and enjoyed the freedom of flight. Sure she flew a lot but usually it was because of an emergency. She didn't get a chance to just, enjoy her favorite of all her abilities. Her cape lightly fluttered in the slipstream as Kara preformed a spiral in the air. A sigh left her lips as she knew that tonight wasn't just for her to do a little jet-setting. Supergirl adjusted her course and headed towards the Huntington estate. She normally would have been patrolling National City, keeping an eye out for trouble, but tonight she was making a special guest appearance. Unlike other times she did this Kara wasn't visiting some special kids or giving someone an award. It was almost a 'paid' appearance, though she wasn't the one getting any of the money. Apparently Caitlin Huntington had been delighted by Kara's speech and celebration of her organization's charitable work. So the rich socialite had contacted the mayor's office and requested that Supergirl come to the next Huntington Ball, an event designed to raise money for the foundation. If Supergirl appeared Caitlin promised to donate nearly five million dollars to Supergirl's favorite charity. At first Kara had almost considered saying no. She worried that she might give people the idea that if they had lots money they could buy her time. Despite whatever precedents it set, Kara couldn't deny the National City Kids organization that money; they helped orphaned kinds find new families to live with, something dear to Kara's heart. So she had agreed to appear at the Huntington Ball, though only on the express condition the whole arrangement wasn't made public. Supergirl was sure some news of it would leak but at least the details wouldn't be out there. Supergirl spotted the mansion in the distance. Remember you're doing it for the kids, Kara told herself as she adjusted her flight causing her cape to swell up as she started descending towards the mansion. Already her sensitive ears could pick up the sounds of people socializing below. Supergirl saw expensive cars parked in the front of estate along with well-dressed men and women on a wide balcony overlooking the well landscaped grounds. Kara took one more breath as she descended and put on her best smile. People were pointing with wide eyes as she landed on the balcony. Kara's red boots touched down with barely a noise, just the swish of cape settling as she touched down. The people around her were a who's who of National City's elite. Normally not her kind of crowd, Supergirl nonetheless greeted them all with a smile, a few handshakes, and one gentleman who insisted of kissing Kara's hand. As she was finishing her greetings with those on the balcony a new man walked up. "Supergirl, thank you for coming," Johnathan Huntington said as he came forward offering his hand. Kara took it with a smile, "Of course Mr. Huntington, I was happy to accept your wife's invitation." Johnathan smiled back but not for the reasons Supergirl suspected. She's here, I hope Caitlin's ready, the man thought. Much to his surprise he was quite excited. Supergirl was walking right into his wife's trap and didn't even know it. Trap is a bit excessive, he reasoned, more like a prank. Either way, the idea that his wife was about to get one up on Supergirl made him well, wonder if that's why things have gotten better with our 'relations'. With that happy thought he led Supergirl into the main ballroom. There were more people here who wanted to greet Supergirl and she was polite to them all. Kara knew that not everyone liked her. Some people were amazed by her others annoyed for reasons that she never quite understood. It seemed like there was someone or some group who always became upset over her, that somehow her abilities and actions made theirs irrelevant. Supergirl of course didn't want to make anyone feel that way. Kara tried to always show everyone she just did what she could to help. It wasn't about fame, fortune, or even creating goodwill towards her. I just want to help, was what she always said; and it was true. "If you excuse me Supergirl, I'll go find my wife and I know she has something special for you," Mr. Huntington said with a grin. Supergirl busy being nice to the different guest gave him a quick smile and a nod. Had Kara been paying a bit more attention, she might have seen his grin was not that of a good host. ... ... ... ... ... ... ... Caitlin Huntington was standing in front of her dresser. The socialite was beaming in the mirror. She looked down at the top dresser to admire her tools for the night. A small black box was in the center while another smaller box, like one a man would use for a wedding ring sat right next to it. She picked up the third item, her silver Huntington Foundation pin only it was a little different from last time. The jewel in the center had replaced with a green almost crystal like stone. It seemed to faintly twinkle and Caitlin got a thrill from holding it. She was still holding the pin when her husband came into the bedroom. "She's here sweetheart," he said coming over to her. Johnathan paused as he got to see how his wife had dressed for her big night. Her hair was draped down to her shoulders which were bare thanks to her dress. The purple dress had a pattern over it from her bustier top to the hem around her knees. Her legs were dressed in sheer black pantyhose with the seams running up the back of her legs. Caitlin turned on her black heels, smiling seductively at him, "What do you think? Am I dressed for success?" He came over and let his hand slip down Caitlin's side. She murmured in pleasure but was more excited when Johnathan took the special pin and began to place it over her left breast. She put her hand on his shoulder, "Love thank you for all this." Johnathan brushed her hair, "Of course just, do be careful Caitlin." She kissed him first then pulled back, "I don't need to worry my love, I have everything I need." She guided his hand to her breast but also the pin, "Once I get within a few feet of Supergirl ... she won't be able to do a thing." ... ... ... ... ... ... ... . Supergirl had been making small talk with the various guests when there was a new murmur going through the room. Kara turned to see an opening of the party goers revealing Caitlin Huntington as she entered the room. Kara folded her hands over lap as she waited to meet her hostess. Caitlin saw the Girl of Steel was politely standing there, good she doesn't suspect a thing. The party goers quieted as Caitlin made her entrance. Once the crowd had settled Caitlin announced, "Everyone thank you from coming tonight." The hostess was taking a slow walk looking at her friends, associates, and a few enemies who had to be here, "I know that tonight we're here for an important purpose but I also wanted to thank someone special, someone who displays heroism every day; even though she doesn't ever admit it." Supergirl felt every eye in the room turn on her. For all the times she had been in public or had received awards, it always made Kara a little uncomfortable. I'm bulletproof but when I feel all the eyes on me my skin starts to itch. Still she stood there and looked the part, strong, confident, and 'super'. Caitlin meanwhile was getting closer, "Supergirl honored me not long ago and I wish to honor her." Kara kept up a good front while she waited but she did feel a little agitated, like something was tickling at the back of her neck. She thought it was odd, sure she didn't like a lot of attention but it never caused her to feel physically off. Supergirl's demeanor didn't change much but she did adjust her pose a little. Caitlin caught sight of this and socialite couldn't help herself as she brushed her pin. "Supergirl," Caitlin spoke to coming closer, "I'd like to give you a Huntington Foundation pin, a small recognition of everything you've done for the city." She was now only a few feet away and Supergirl seemed a bit more uncomfortable now. The Girl of Steel was still smiling but it looked a bit strained. What's going why do I feel off? Kara wondered as she tried to focus on Caitlin's speech. The woman was joined by her husband who passed her a small jewelry box. Caitlin with the box in hand, stepped up to Supergirl, "Supergirl I do hope you like it, it's just like mine." She opened it and Kara saw the silver pin, a green jem inside. Supergirl felt even more uncomfortable now but didn't say anything. Summoning a little extra focus she answered, "Thank you Mrs. Huntington, as I said before, your organization is truly heroic and able to help so many. I'd be honored to wear...wear this pin." Caitlin reached in the box, removing the jewelry. Supergirl held her place while Caitlin worked to place it on her left side above her S-Shield. However as she did so, Supergirl felt a ping of dizziness. Something wrong, I feel like there's ... Supergirl's eyes looked sharply to Caitlin's for a moment. The socialite's eyes were friendly but there was a undercut of something, something nasty behind those eyes. "There you go Supergirl," Caitlin said finishing with the pin. She put and arm around Supergirl's shoulder and posed for a few pictures and the applause of the guests. Kara did her best to smile and pose for the pictures but it was hard. Caitlin grinned, seemingly happy to be posing with Supergirl but in reality enjoying the moment for other reasons. That's right Supergirl; you know something's wrong but what can you do about it? Kara waited for the photos to die down before turning to Caitlin, "Thank you again Mrs. Huntington ... but ... I think I should ... get going." "Nonsense," Caitlin replied, she leaned in smiling to Supergirl, "In fact Supergirl if you wouldn't mind, I had an idea to really encourage donations." Kara tried to interrupt but Caitlin continued, "It's just a little something for the guests, if you don't mind." "For the guests?" Kara asked wondering what Caitlin was thinking as felt her unease growing. Caitlin glanced to the S on Supergirl's chest, "Just a little demonstration if you will, of your powers." Supergirl was about to protest but Caitlin lightly touched her arm, "Please, I'm sure it will get people to donate more." Kara internally wanted to just bolt but, maybe I ... can get this pin off during this. She listened as Caitlin announced that Supergirl was going to display some of her amazing gifts. Supergirl moved a little further away from Caitlin feeling better, but not perfect. Kara's blue eyes were getting heavy and she knew all her discomfort from the pin, the Kryptonite pin Caitlin had given her. The crowd parted some as Supergirl smiled in the center of the room. Feeling weak, but not too bad ... yet, Kara thought. She began to rise up hovering above the ground. The crowd grinned and Supergirl did her best to hide the fatigue she felt. After the short flight, she touched down and hoped that would be enough. There was applause though a few keen observers were noticing that Supergirl seemed a little distracted. "Thank you everyone ... ." "Supergirl, if you don't mind but ... " one of Caitlin's guests asked, "Could you show us how strong you are?" Supergirl saw the eager faces and a quick glance to Caitlin showed she was smiling as well. Kara turned back and focused on the curious guest, "Sure." She walked over towards a statue, feeling tired with every step. It was made of marble which meant it weighed a couple hundred pounds. Normally Kara could have easily lifted it but at the moment, she wasn't so sure. She reached down and started hefting it. Should ... be able to do ... this one handed, Kara lamented as she was straining to pick it up. Eventually she had the heavy piece above her head on two hands. Supergirl's arms ached a bit but luckily she didn't have to do it for long. Once it was clear the guests were amazed she put it down with a bit of relief. Oh, getting tired Supergirl? Caitlin thought with sinister glee. She could see Supergirl was growing weaker by the minute. Time to put the icing on the cake, the socialite thought. "Supergirl there's one thing I've always been amazed by," she said aloud, walking over to her. The Girl of Steel visibly tired now as Caitlin and the other Kryptonite pin came close once more. She playfully touched the heroine's sleeved arm, "Your heat vision, can you really zap things with your eyes?" You ... know ... I can, Kara grumbled to herself thinking it a stupid question, "I can ... though I don't want to set ... anything on fire." "Well, how about ... " Caitlin stayed next to Supergirl as she pointed at the ice sculpture on a table with drinks and food. Supergirl thought about just zapping the pins on her and Caitlin regardless of the consequences. However that would be hard to explain. Plus for all she knew Caitlin wanted Kara to lose her cool. Just ... got to make it through ... this a little ... bit longer. By now though more than a few people were seeing how odd Supergirl seemed to look. Caitlin pulled back just a bit but stayed within ten feet of Supergirl. Kara spied the ice sculpture, a stylized angel, and focused her eyes. They began to glow faintly blue. Her powers were struggling to generate the focused energy that could melt tank armor. Come on ... just ... a blast ... then I'm ... out of here, Supergirl thought. She sighed a bit loudly as her eyes started to send out some beams which touched the sculpture. It began to melt a bit but it seemed that burst was all Kara had. As the beams cut off Supergirl let out an exhausted gasp as she dropped to a knee. Resting on her stocking knee, Kara's hands were barely keeping her from going down on both knees. People were concerned but nobody quite knew what to make of it; Supergirl, looking sick and weak? Kara tried to summon the strength to get up. She knew people were muttering concerns while others well a few were snickering. Johnathan Huntington had hung back during the whole incident letting Caitlin have her fun. It worked, it actually worked, he thought with a smile. It was time to help do his part. Johnathan came forwards and announced, "Everyone let's give Supergirl a little air." Caitlin knelt next to Supergirl putting her hand on the Girl of Steel's shoulder. Leaning in she whispered, "How do you feel Supergirl? Weak, pathetic, embarrassed?" Kara's face was fatigued as she tried to respond, "Why ... are you ... doing this?" Caitlin sneered since no one could quite see but helped ease Supergirl up while Johnathan asked, "Supergirl, do you need to lie down?" "I think she might have overexerted herself dear," Caitlin told him loud enough for everyone to hear. The couple shared knowing glances with hidden smiles. "Supergirl, let me help you out." Johnathan reassured everyone things were alright while Caitlin guided Supergirl by an arm. Kara's form was slumped slightly as her legs struggled kept her upright. She was led to a door which Caitlin opened. Kara was embarrassed, so weak ... can't even break this ... woman's grip. As the door closed Caitlin finally got to let her inner joy at the heroine's weakness bleed out, "Oh, isn't this something, Supergirl, weak ... helpless ... and not able to do anything to escape." Supergirl turned her head, her eyes heavy and voice struggling to speak, "Caitlin ... what do ... you think you're doing?" "Getting even Supergirl," Caitlin answered. "Even?" Supergirl asked dumbfounded, "Caitlin ... I don't ... know what you think ... I did to..you ... " "You know!" Caitlin snapped, she turned pressing Supergirl against a wall. Kara grunted from the somewhat forceful impact as she was pinned. She was vulnerable, thanks to the sickening radiation of the twin Kryptonite pins that were sapping her strength. "You stole my night Supergirl; well tonight I just stole yours." She ran her finger over the Huntington pin which graced Kara's leotard, "You walked right into my trap Supergirl, even better nobody knows it was a trap except you and me." Kara sighed, "You ... think you can ... get away ... with this?" Caitlin grinned as pulled Supergirl off the wall, letting the heroine sag and barely stay upright. The socialite guided her prisoner to the room which would be Supergirl's accommodations for a few hours. Entering the room, Caitlin led the weakened Girl of Steel to a long couch. Kara collapsed onto the couch oddly relieved to be off her feet. Caitlin lifted the heroine's limp stocking clad legs onto the sofa making sure Supergirl was settled. Once she had finished, Caitlin let Supergirl lay there as she went over to a table in the center of the room. "Oh I'm going to get away with this Supergirl," she told Kara. The socialite touched the small box at the center of the table, "You see my loving husband not only got me the Kryptonite which has left you weak as a kitten, but something else as well. A new short term memory drug one which will leave with just a vague recognition of this night." Supergirl turned her head, "You ... think that will work? I'm not ... human." "True," Caitlin sighed, "But ... " she opened the box revealing a slightly larger than a golf ball sized piece of Kryptonite. Supergirl winced as the larger piece of her homeworld caused her to feel even more powerless than she already was. Caitlin strolled over, enjoying the sight of the withering Supergirl. She knelt by Supergirl's side running her hand along the helpless heroine's body. "I think once you're completely drained by the Kryptonite, teetering near unconscious; then you'll be more ... receptive to it." Caitlin let out a quiet laugh. She rose and headed for the door. Supergirl tried to rise to stop her but collapsed back into the sofa. Caitlin turned her head, lips turned up at the corners, "Sweet dreams Supergirl." With that she flipped off the lights before closing and locking the door, leaving Supergirl to be illuminated only by the green sickly glow of the Kryptonite. Supergirl's head lolled slowly as she tried to fight the overwhelming weakness she felt. Kara gritted her teeth as she turned to stare at the small uneven orb of Kryptonite. Uhhh, it's small but ... still enough to knock me ... out, I can already feel it. However Supergirl noticed one other thing, the box ... it's still in the box. Supergirl had a plan, well the beginnings of one. It was going to take what little strength she had left and might not work but, not ... going to lose to ... this ... spoiled brat, Kara told herself. First she needed to get that damn pin off. Reaching to her chest, Supergirl finally could at least remove the Kryptonite that had been placed on her. She winced a bit as her skin touched the tiny piece of emerald meteorite at the center. It took a little bit of doing but she was able to pull the pin free and toss it away. "Good riddance ... " Supergirl muttered. A heavy sigh left her lips though as she still had the bigger piece to deal with. Kara grunted as she focused on getting off the sofa. It felt like she weighed a million tons and her movements were sluggish. Supergirl managed to sit up but then as she did so the Girl of Steel toppled over. Graceful, she sarcastically lamented on the ground. The drained heroine pushed up on her arms, managing to raise her upper body. Kara closed her eyes for a moment while she managed to get on her knees. Still looking weary, she eyed the table before saying, "Now ... for the hard ... part." Supergirl began crawling towards the table. Her discomfort grew as got closer to the Kryptonite. It was a risk but she had to get that lid closed. Kara stumbled some as she got right up to the table. Her arms buckled and Supergirl almost fell to her side. The heroine managed to keep herself up though. Slowly she reached up and took hold of the edge of the table. Pulling up, Supergirl managed to stand upright, albeit on her knees. "Uhhhh," Kara looked away from the green glow which highlighted her face and made her feel sick. The table was definitely the only thing supporting her weight at the moment. With one arm resting on the table, Supergirl reached out with the other. Her hand quivered while her arm shook. Going ... to ... pass ... out, only ... one shot ... at this. Kara's eyes were nearly closed as her hand grasped the lid and pushed down. With a snap the lead lid shut and the green glow of Kryptonite disappeared, plunging the room into darkness. Supergirl was slumped for a moment, still resting on the table catching her breath. As she did this, strength began to return to her legs, her fatigue fell away, and the Girl of Steel raised her head. Kara smiled as she stood up and felt almost normal, almost. Supergirl glanced over to where she had tossed the Huntington Foundation pin. Her eyes glowed for a moment before sending twin bright blue beams which illuminated the room at the pin. Her heat-vision vaporized it and the last bit of Kryptonite in the room. She closed her eyes letting out a cleansing breath, "That's better." Opening her baby blues again, Supergirl reached out and picked up the lead box. She easily busted the lock on the door Caitlin had closed on her. For a moment Supergirl thought about just going back to the party and giving Caitlin a real show of her abilities. As she played with the lead box though, another idea came to Kara's head. With a smile she left the room. ... ... ... ... ... ... ... . "So she's really passed out?" Johnathan Huntington asked the question with a bit of excitement. Caitlin was leaning into him, letting her stocking clad legs brush against his body. She purred with her answer, "Ummmm yes my love. I humiliated and captured Supergirl." They were out of earshot of the rest of the guests, seemingly spending a little time alone. To Caitlin's delight they were all puzzled by what had happened to Supergirl. Johnathan couldn't help it, he had to lean in and kiss his wife; while also gracing her stocking clad thigh with his fingers. The idea of his wifedefeating Supergirl! Was a real turn on. The two were continuing to make out when the excited mumbles of the party goers caused the two to turn their heads and bodies away from each other. "What ... " Johnathan started. "No!" Caitlin quietly hissed. Supergirl was hovering above the ballroom a bright smile on her face. She didn't look weak, helpless, or captive. Johnathan's gut sank as he realized how stupid this whole thing had become. He was going to say something to his wife but Caitlin was already moving. I still have the Kryptonite on me! If I get close she'll be mine! Caitlin was about to put on her mask of friendly hostess but Supergirl stopped her. "Mrs. Huntington," Supergirl called out in a friendly manner. Her eyes though stared at Caitlin and conveyed the message, you've had your fun, my turn. "Supergirl ... " Caitlin tried to keep her cool, "You seem better." Supergirl landed keeping her distance though. This briefly made Caitlin feel a bit in control. The moment of control though ended as Supergirl asked, "I'm sorry for earlier, guess I had just been a bit busy earlier in the day. I know it sounds crazy but even I can get a bit tired. I don't have the time to just sit around usually planning parties and things." A few people noticed the last comment, and they started wondering if Caitlin had just been dissed by Supergirl. Caitlin of course knew she had, "Well I'm glad you're refreshed now if you'd like I'd love to ... " Supergirl cut her off, "Well I think that these people who have donated so much to your foundation should get to see me finish my demonstration. How about I show them my heat vision?" People were excited and wondered what Supergirl would do. Kara smiled and focused her eyes, on Caitlin's pin. More than once person let out a shock as Supergirl fired off a quick blast of her blue rays which were expertly targeted and focused. No one was more shocked than Caitlin who looked at her special pin with horror. When the energy faded though the pin was gone ... NO! Caitlin thought with horror. She stared at Supergirl, "A little pin point accuracy but don't worry Mrs. Huntington I've got you a replacement." The Girl of Steel floated over and touched down in front of the socialite. She presented the gift in her hand, "After I got a quick power nap in, I floated up to orbit and found a small meteorite. Applying a little pressure and heat vision I crafted this new pin for you Mrs. Huntington." The guests applauded the new pin which looked excellent as Supergirl placed it on Caitlin's dress. Caitlin stared at Supergirl who just smiled. Quietly the socialite asked, "But ... how?" Supergirl didn't answer instead putting an arm around Caitlin's shoulder, "I hope you like the pin Mrs. Huntington because it was the least I could do after you shared what you were donating to the foundation tonight." "Huh?" Caitlin couldn't hide her confusion. Kara grinned, "The Huntington's have promised to donate ten million dollars of their own funds." Everyone was shocked then applauded, well everyone except Johnathan Huntington. He stared dumbfounded at his wife. She turned to stare at him before returning her surprised look to Supergirl. Now it was the Girl of Steel's turn to speak softly, "Consider that your penance Mrs. Huntington for tonight's foolishness."
