Alex's Journal 1 by elvenranger02@yahoo.com Introduction Journal 1: August 1998 How to begin... My name is Alex (short for Alexandria) and today I just bought my first journal/diary (ugh I hate the word diary)! I went to the mall with my friends to do some Friday-night browsing. While browsing I saw this cute little blue journal on sale. It had a plain yet formal design without all the really girly stuff like flowers and hearts, which I am not overly into.. so I bought it! That was a few hours ago, and here I am entering my first entry. I've never written any kind of journal or anything so I should get better with each new entry. Let me start it off by describing my beginnings. I was born in Florida no July 6, 1982 near Gainesville. We remained there until a few months ago, so I went through elementry and junior high there as well as my first 2 years of high school. I did pretty well in school, getting mostly As with the occassional B and rare C, with school being relatively easy to me. I liked my old school but my Dad got an opening higher up in his company located in California so we moved to Glendale (a Los Angeles suburb) during the summer. School just started recently so I am going to my new high school, which is going pretty well. So far I've made a few friends and got some good teachers, though I haven't hooked up with any boys yet. Next I'll describe my background. My parents are, well, pretty well off. In fact I guess you could call them rich. My dad is in the real estate business (mainly office buildings) and my mom is a lawyer who works on local cases (not one of those huge big-time lawyers). Though I am still not sure what I want to be when I grow up, I know that it will not be either of those! Not only do both seem pretty boring, but they work all day and even on the weekends. Unfortunatly that means me being home by myself after school until late in the night. Sometimes one or both of them have to go out of town on business, so I am left home alone. I've grown used to it by now, I just watch TV or play video games. My parents wanted to give me something to do, so they signed me up in gymnastics when I was 4. They would drop me off there and pick me up later on, kind of like day care. I love doing gymnastics, something that I enjoy spending time on. I used to practice and practice until I fell over exhausted. And I was really good at it too, I could do backflips and flip up 10 feet into the air. The feeling of doing that is hard to describe, but it's like the rush you get when you go down a rollercoaster. I won a few local competitions and got quite a few medals and trophies, which my parents are very proud of. They are in a display case in the front room, along with the pictures and stuff. Now you may be wondering why I use the past tense when talking about my gymnastics past. The reason is somewhat complicated, but it has to do with me. You may or may not know that gymnastics requires you to be very very balanced, which means that the taller you are the harder it is. Unfortunatly for me, I got too tall. I was around 5'8 by the time I was 15, which was on the upper end of the scale. I was the tallest one in my gymnastics class, and a lot of my classmates were pretty short, like 5'2 or so. By the time I was 16 or so I grew to 5'10. I had another problem as well, my breasts. I was around a B cup at 15 and just recently started wearing C bras, which is pretty big for a gymnast (not that I'm bragging). Anyway, my coach had a talk with me about 6 months ago regarding these things and told me that I could continue being in the class but I had little chance of winning any more competitions. Even so I stayed in the class and got to practice with everyone else but I could not participate in the contests so I sat in the stands and cheered my classmates on. However, when we moved I decided not to join another class because I'm bored of it now and was not getting as much of a thrill as I used to. So to stay in shape I will be joining a gym as soon as I can find a good one nearby. I guess I should end this by describing myself as I am now. As I said I am 5'10, and I have long brownish hair and blue eyes. My mom is of French origin and I have her eyes and similar features, while my dad is from Spain and I got his height and natural tan. Physically I am what you could call lean, skinny yet athletic as most gymnastics are. Well, that's it for today, hope to write again soon!
