Supergirl vs Helga Hammerfist 2 She stood, paralysed, as Helga Hammerfist moved towards her. Helga's mighty physique loomed over her, blocking out the whole world. She knew that she had to run fast, with all her super speed, or Helga would get her... But she couldn't move. She screamed frantically for help... But she could get no sound out of her mouth. She knew that Helga was going to inflict terrible pain on her. She knew that she would be spared if she begged and pleaded for mercy... But she couldn't get out any words. She hit Helga with every ounce of her super strength, supplemented by her flying power... But each blow sent greater and greater pain into her hands and arms as her blows bounced ineffectively, off Helga's jaw and face, and off each of her massive muscles. Then Helga's huge, heavily muscled arms rose and fell, inflicted agonizing pain wherever they landed. The punishment seemed eternal. She shrieked as Helga's fists broke her legs and arms like match sticks. Then Helga took her by the scruff of the neck, hammered her head into the rippling muscles of Helga's titanium-hard stomach, and dropped her, stunned and nauseous, to the floor. She was lying on her back... helpless. Helga was leaning over her, a sadistic smile on her powerful features. Helga leaned over, grabbed her by the front of her costume with her left hand, and lifted her broken body off the ground. Her eyes opened wide in terror as Helga raised her right arm, and balled her right hand into a huge fist. Helga was going to slam that fist into her jaw. She could see the mountainous size and brutal power of the shoulder and biceps which were going to power that slam. She knew that she could not withstand the blow... that it would shatter her face into a thousand pieces, and it would kill her. And then finally she could make sounds. She screamed out her acknowledgement of Helga's mastery over her. She begged and pleaded for mercy. She could hear her voice shouting out "Helga... Helga.. Helga... No... No... Please... Please... Not again... No please not again..." "Kara! Kara! Kara! Wake up! Wake up! Its only a dream!!!" Supergirl was jerked out of her deep sleep, back to reality. She was in Kal's Fortress of Solitude. She had been asleep, and he was shaking her awake. She sat up. Her bedclothes were in a mess, and soaking wet. Her whole body was dripping with what seemed like rivers of sweat. Her blonde hair was ropey with sweat. Her hands were trembling. Kal handed her a glass of water. She drank it thirstily. Then she threw her arms around Kal, rested her head on his shoulder, and sobbed. "What was it Kara? Was it THE NIGHTMARE again?" "Y.y.y.y.esss.! she stammered. "She was killing me again. And I was utterly helpless in her hands. And the pain... I can't describe it. Kal she inflicted such pain..." Superman let Kara cry herself out, until she relaxed, and sank back to sleep. Ever since he had brought Supergirl to his Fortress of Solitude after her catastrophic defeat at the hands of the Champion of Lex's Enhanced Army she had seemed mentally traumatised as well as physically crushed. At first she had been unable to sleep at all, and then, as her healing power gradually started to cure her dreadful wounds, she had slept, but at the cost of terrifying nightmares, all with the same theme - Helga was beating her to pulp, over and over again. "We must discuss this problem" he said to her the next morning. "What problem?" she answered guardedly. "You know what I'm talking about. Unless we can do something about this that woman will establish such a psychological domination over you that you'll never be able to stand up to her." "What do you mean 'WILL establish'" she crieds. "She's established it ALREADY. Kal, you know the position better than anyone. I'm virtually invulnerable. Until I fought that huge mountain of muscle I thought that I was COMPLETELY invulnerable. I've never in my life had to face the possibility of pain. But now I have. That woman inflicted pain on me, terrible pain, every time one of her fists smashed into me. And I had no defence against her. She crashed through my guard as if it was tissue paper. And I didn't like it. I couldn't stand it. I wanted it to stop. I wanted to run away and hide. I wanted to surrender and plead for mercy. And I still do. I can't stand the prospect of experiencing that pain again. I've never had to be brave before. I knew that nothing could hurt me. But this monster can. Add to this that my hardest blows don't even dent her, and that she's fast enough to tag me with a killer punch to the jaw when I'm using my super speed - and I'm scared, no scrub that, I'm TERRIFIED of facing her again. I can't do it." Superman held his peace. Over the next few weeks Supergirl's healing power worked its effect. Her face completely healed. It recovered the full bloom of its beauty without a blemish or scar. Her body, too, was once more the trim package of shapely super powered muscles that it had been before it had taken such a hammering from Helga's ultra-mega musclepower. And she was able to go out on patrol again. Things worked well. She stopped the usual ration of muggings and store robberies by thugs who were trying to take advantage of what they thought was her absence. She even stopped a robbery by members of the Enhanced Army. The only difference was that now she didn't treat a battle with the Enhanced Army as an occasion for a fun workout. She took them out as fast as her super speed would let her, having first made sure that Helga was not with them. Then Lex realised what was happening, and the Enhanced Army never went out without either a lead crate, or lead lined curtains, in which Supergirl could never be sure that Helga was not hiding. Time after time Supergirl was forced to remain high in the sky, unable to face the possibility of another annihilating confrontation with the Super Champion. Eventually this became too much for her. She had to take her chances. She asked Superman to remain out of sight, in reserve, to help her if necessary, she interrupted a Enhanced Army jewellery heist. In fifteen seconds the ten members of the Enhanced Army who had carried out the robbery were unconscious. Supergirl was just about to congratulate herself on a job well done, when she heard a dreaded voice behind her. "You came at last eh Superbimbo!" Helga growled. "I thought you couldn't keep away for ever. Well, your worst nightmare is here, waiting for you" Supergirl turned, and gasped. Helga looked even bigger than she remembered her. Helga laughed. "Surprised Spaghettigirl. I've been working out since out last meeting. I've put on another 100 pounds in weight. And you know what... its all ALL muscle, every last pound. And all my muscle is even denser than before. I reckon you and your cousin together could last maybe 60 seconds against me, tops. And that's on one of my bad days." She slowly flexed her whole body before Supergirl's startled eyes. Supergirl's mouth fell open, and her eyes almost popped out. Helga's biceps swelled to 72", four times the size of Supergirl's 18" guns, and as her 60" thighs dwarfed Supergirl's 24" upper leg. Her chest seemed to shut out the sun. Helga gave a scornful laugh at the sight of Supergirl's face, and advanced on her. Supergirl stood paralysed with fear. She couldn't run. She couldn't fight. She couldn't move. Her knees started to tremble as Helga approached. Her legs weakened. She fell backwards against the wall, averted her eyes, and held her hands before her face, her palms facing the advancing Helga. "Hah!" snorted Helga. "Don't fall before I've even touched you. You'll have plenty of time to flop on the ground after I've given you another beating. I told that cousin of your to warn you, but I guess he had other things to think about. Now Super Fitness Model. Time to face the music, or should I say the muscles". She raised her fist. There was a loud whizzing sound. Superman smashed into the room almost faster than the speed of thought, whisked Supergirl up in his arms, and hurtled out into the night sky, carrying the quaking Supergirl to safety. "Well Kara, we know the dimensions of the problem now." he said to her the next morning in the Fortress of Solitude. "Now all we have to do is to find the solution." "No Kall. its not what must be done by US. Its what has to be done by ME." retorted Supergirl. It's an interesting problem. I see it as an exam problem. 'Supergirl is faced with a criminal who can knock her into the middle of next week, who is almost as fast as she is, who is invulnerable to her blows, and who has attained a complete psychological domination over her. What is she to do?' All it means is that I have to solve this problem with my inteeligence, and without the use of most of my super powers. Well I'll solve it. You go on back to Metropolis. I'll deal with things here, and I'll let you know if I need your help in any way."
