A Prophecy From The Little Man From The Wrong Side Of The Tracks

The scariest part of the following story is that it is totally possible and
what I have written down here may very well be a prophecy! If you are indeed
"lucky" enough to live until 2078, and this story comes true ... please
don't blame me, I tried to tell you!!!

The current year is 2078. Surely no one could have ever envisioned a society
such as the one we now live in. And to think it all started so innocently 75
years ago ... Flashback to June 23, 2003: A seemingly unimportant news bit
appeared on CNN story reporting on a debate over human growth hormone use.
(Right now it is approved for use in children with severe growth deficiencies
only. Apparently there is much debate going on about growth hormone use in
children with normal growth patterns. This policy is on the verge of being
overturned as we speak.) This was all that was reported. <<<true headline ...
On August 1, 2003, the policy to allow growth hormone treatments for the
general population was passed. At first is was something the story wasn't
really all that newsworthy and seemed to only be a piece to fill time to most.
And seemingly not really something that would radically affect our society.
Many didn't even care that the government authorized its use for the general
population. It wasn't until 3 years later that the effects started to become
apparent. You see these growth hormone treatments, unless given to children
with growth deficiencies, were extremely expensive. So, naturally the only
people that were having the treatments administered to their children were the
wealthy. I was in the 6th grade when all of this started to happen. In
particular, I remember my 2 friends Tyler and Zoe. They were twin brother and
sister and I was 2" taller than Tyler at 5'3" tall and absolutely towered over
Zoe. She couldn't have been more than 4'8" or so. Their parents were also
rather short but very wealthy and were among the first parents to decide to
have the growth hormone treatment therapy administered to their children. At
first the results weren't all that noticeable and I had no idea they were
going through the therapy. Then 6 months later, I noticed that Tyler was
slightly taller than me! At first I found it hard to believe that he was in
fact taller than me and so he convinced out teacher to measure the two of us,
as we stood bare footed. He had in fact grown an inch taller than me and was
now 5'4"! I guess it was about the same time that I noticed Zoe also had
gotten several inches taller and was almost able to look me right in the eye
now. Her growth spurt alone didn't strike me as being odd then because most of
the other girls in my class also had grown considerably. However I was very
curious as to why the girls in my class started to grow taller ... even taller
than me! When I asked my parents if there was some kind of an evil plot to
make girls taller, they both laughed and explained to me that girls grow up
faster than boys and it was perfectly normal for them even to be taller than
the boys in their class. Little did they know that the "plot" theory I had
come up with had some truth to it! By the summer of my 7th grade year, Tyler
was almost 5'7" tall and Zoe was 5'5"! I began to feel uneasy having to look
up at her after always being so much taller than her; on the other hand she
seemed to enjoy it very much! That summer, I didn't see them because they
lived in a different neighborhood than me. Just to keep in touch with them I
called their house a few times during the summer, but never was able to get in
touch with them because they were always on vacation, at camp or somewhere
else. I hadn't seen them the whole summer and had no real idea of what lied
ahead for me the first day of school. Over the summer, I had grown 3" taller
and was now 5'6". I was anxious to see Zoe and figured that I would be taller
than her now. However, I failed to take into account that she might have
gotten taller also ... I walked up the steps and into the school following a
woman that was several inches taller than me. When she got to the top of the
steps, she dropped the books she was carrying. I walked up and bent over to
help her. When I looked up to see who it was I almost fell on the floor when I
saw the tall woman was actually Zoe! Her face lit up as she saw the surprised
look on my face. Then as we both stood up I really couldn't believe how tall
she had gotten! She had to be at least 5'11"! She smiled and said, "Hey
shortie, long time, no see!" Just then Tyler walked up behind us and said,
"Zoe, where is your first class?" I recognized his voice and turned around to
tell him hi and again got the shock of my life! I barely came up to his chin
now! He had to be about 6'2" tall at least! He smiled, punched me in the arm
and said, "Hey Tom! Long time no see, dog! So how was your summer?" I told him
it was okay and asked how his was. He started telling me how their family went
to Disney, Sea World and then to Hawaii for vacation. Then I couldn't help but
comment to him, "Wow Tyler, you sure did get to have a lot of fun this summer!
And what the hell did you and your sister eat over the summer? Miracle Grow
plant food or something? How did you both get so tall?" Tyler didn't have an
explanation for me but surely he must have suspected that their growth had to
have something to do with the fact that they were visiting a "specialist"
every two weeks for vitamin shots. But I guess they really didn't suspect
their parent's motives when they told them the shots were for their allergies.
The rest of the year, Tyler's growth seemed to slow down, but he started to
develop more muscle. He was only 13 just like me, but he looked like he was at
least 18! Zoe must have grown 4 more inches by the end of the year and was
actually taller than him now! When they both got their physicals for the
summer athletics programs, I couldn't believe their sizes as we compared each
other's physicals! Tyler was 6'3" and weighed 220 and Zoe was 6'4" and
weighed 185! I found it so hard to believe that as little as 2 years ago, I
towered over both of them but now when we walked around together, I felt like
I was their kid brother or something! By our 9th grade year Tyler had gotten a
little taller but Zoe had quit growing at 6'5". I had started to grow a
little during the year and was around 5'9". By the beginning of our 10th grade
year, Tyler was turning into a monster! He stood 6'10" tall and weighed nearly
280! Zoe was still "only" 6'5" but had definitely developed more muscularly.
She weighed around 225, but when our Phys Ed teacher measured the class's body
fat, she was right at 8% body fat! A few of my other class mates were also
getting much bigger/taller and stronger but since I was so close to Tyler and
Zoe, they stood out in my mind the most; that along with the fact they were
bar none, the 2 biggest students in the whole school. Zoe was in a weight
lifting class with me and I was impressed with myself at how well I was
progressing until I started to work out with her! I didn't grow very much
taller, but I did start to get considerably stronger. I really thought I was
the shit when I put 4 of the 50 lb. weights on the Olympic bar and benched it
8 times. Then Zoe asked me if she could work in with me. I really didn't
expect her to be able to lift it in spite of her size and was even more
surprised when she lifted it 20 times! Then she got up and added 2 more 50
lbs. and proceeded to put it up 10 times. Then she asked me if I wanted to try
and I couldn't even budge it! Before that I was really feeling pretty strong,
but she quickly deflated my ego! The 2 of them along with several others got
athletic scholarships to prestigious colleges. I on the other hand settled for
a meager academic scholarship to a local community college. We fell out of
touch for the next 15 years until our high school reunion. I had become a
grade school teacher and Tyler was now the CEO of IBM. Zoe was a women's
professional player and married a man nearly as big as Tyler! Tyler also
married a rather tall woman and as I stood talking to the four of them, I
started to feel like a midget! We exchanged pictures of our children and I was
extremely surprised at the size of their children in the family photos! I
looked at the pictures carefully and judging by the comparisons I made between
their children's heights and my height compared to Tyler and Zoe, they had to
be at least the same height as me if not taller! To tell you the truth, this
didn't really surprise me that much because as a teacher. I began to notice
several children in my classes were way above average height. When I asked the
age of their children, I really got a shock! Zoe's daughter was 9 years old
and she told me that she was taller than me already! Tyler laughed and said
that his daughter was also probably taller than me and she was only 8! I was
dumbfounded because my son was 10 years old and he was only 4'10" tall! It was
then that I began to wonder why many of the children I was seeing towered over
their peers and I really started to get curious as to why. Right before
leaving I was a little drunk and I asked Tyler why he and his sister had
gotten so tall all of a sudden. And not only that they both had children that
were way ahead of the growth curve of most average children. And yet Zoe and
his parents were both smaller than my parents. Tyler was also a little drunk
and looked at me and said, "You promise not to tell anyone, old buddy?" I
shook my head yes and he said, "When we were about 12 our parents along with a
few other parents started to have growth hormone treatments administered on
us. At first our parents didn't tell us, but then we both got suspicious
because we really started to wonder the same thing ourselves! When we
graduated high school they finally admitted what they had been doing to us. At
first we were kind of angry over the fact we had been treated like human
guinea pigs! And then after our parents explained why they did it, we began to
understand and the years later were very grateful to them. We have found out
the same thing that many other tall people have ... Tall people rule the
world! I mean look at presidents, CEO's and athletes! When was the last time
you saw a president under 6' tall? And not too many CEO's are less than 6'
either! Then do I really have to explain about athletes? We were fortunate
enough to have parents that were wealthy enough to afford these treatments for
us and undoubtedly, they gave us a leg up on most average people. Had they not
done this to us, surely Zoe and I would have been much smaller ... shorter
than you even and I really doubt that we would be even a fraction as
successful as we are today! And because of what we have learned first hand, we
are also having the growth treatments administered on our children!" I
couldn't believe what he had just told me but it all seemed to fit together
now! It was no coincidence that the same students I noticed came from very
affluent families. And on the flip side of the coin, the shorter or average
sized students were in general much shorter / smaller than they were! I now
lived with this knowledge but felt powerless because I could not afford to
have the treatments administered to my children on my meager teacher's salary.
As my son grew up he was just another one of the average "common men". An
underground joke started to arise and the people that were wealthy and had the
treatments started to call those who weren't fortunate enough to get them
"commoners". The male "commoners" would probably be around 5'11 or as tall as
6'1 if lucky. The average female "commoner" possibly would be able to reach
5'9" in height. It would be realistic to commonly see a 10-year- old girl from
an affluent family as tall as 6' or taller! Then surely the AVERAGE sized
woman of wealth would be around 6'7" or taller and that average wealthy man
6'11" or taller. It started to become very easy to distinguish social classes,
as poor people in general were much smaller and seldom hired to fill positions
of authority. Subsequently they were forced into subservient job positions
such as fast food workers, chauffeurs, waiters and waitresses, gardeners and
nannies serving the wealthy. Once in a great while a shorter person would
break into show business, which afforded him to at least, help his children
break through the glass ceiling. But even they were still nowhere the size of
the offspring of the "Old Money"! Along with the next generation came an even
larger differential between the sizes of social classes. This was aided by the
policy makers' decision to allow the genetic engineering of births. For years
wealthy people lobbied and bribed their representatives and senators to allow
this policy to come about. This led to the rise of "beautiful people" as they
began to be insist we "commoners" call them. The males averaged 7'3" tall and
around 320 lbs. of pure muscle! Then their lovely 6'9" wives, maybe 260 lbs.
and next to no body fat, long lean and sexy. Along with their increase in
size, naturally came their children's increase! And it wasn't anything for a
2nd grade girl to be 5'10" or taller now! And being only 5'9" tall, I found it
often very difficult to control these baby amazons! They were as much in tune
with their parents "size matters" philosophy if not more! They know they were
intimidating to us small "commoners" and our children. After all by the age of
7, that same little girl was as strong if not stronger than the average
"commoner"! As I watched my son grow up and have children and grand children
of his own, it truly sickened me what our society had become! The "beautiful
people's quest for growth, strength and power hadn't stopped as a matter of
fact they became more greedy and power hungry. They would talk obnoxiously
about how great it was to be a "beautiful person" and have so much power over
"commoners" and what a rush it was to be in total control over another human
being! Then they would make a snide remark like "well a sub-human anyway!"
Then they and the interviewer would laugh and cut back to the studio. After
nearly a century of selective breeding and growth hormone treatments, the
wealthy were now a race of super humans with the average "beautiful" man
standing 8'10" tall and the average "beautiful" woman maybe 8'5" or so.
Recently, they have even been accused of conducting experiments on "commoners"
to make us smaller and more subservient! Many believe that due to genetic
engineering, the wealthy may even "engineer" the small people into being even
smaller! A few weeks ago I caught part of a digital broadcast called "Isn't
This Fucking Hilarious?" There was a "beautiful" girl about 5 years old that
was caught "on digital" beating the hell out her "nanny"! The girl was 6' tall
and weighed 190 lbs.! The 20-year-old man was barely 5' tall and maybe tipped
the scales at 100 if he was lucky! He pleaded with her to behave and that she
would be in trouble with her parents if she messed up the house! The amazonic
youngster wouldn't hear of any of this and she picked him up, slammed him to
the floor and pinned him down! Then after much pleading she let him up. After
which, she proceeded to make him take off all his clothes and turned him over
her knee! She beat his ass until he cried and then when the parents came home,
they caught her and found it extremely amusing that their "little" girl had
totally dominated and humiliated the adult "commoner" with such ease! This led
to an outrage in the "commoner" community and an investigation that the man's
family, who also worked for them, had been forced to give birth to a
genetically engineered child! Of course their lawyers won the case in the
Supreme Court and this accusation was proved to be false. Yet I believe that
there has to be some truth in the accusation because the "commoner's" average
height in 2078 is now around 5'3" for a male and 4'11" for a female! I've also
noticed a decrease in the height of our children! I know better than to
believe the lies of the "beautiful people"! "These "beautiful people" now
revel in the fact they are god like to "commoners" and have pretty much
dominated the small, poor people into virtual slavery. Even their children
treat us less than human! We "commoners" are seen as sub-human due to our
small size and it is even rumored that some of us are kept in households as
pets! I have proof of this, but fail to report it because it really wouldn't
do any good. My neighbor's 13-year-old son was stolen and he has been seen
many times being carried around by a "beautiful" toddler! She openly treats
him as if she owns him! In fact she has been heard by some of the other
"commoners" commenting to her parents that he was HER baby! No one dares to
report it because, who knows what the "beautiful" parents might do to one of
us? After all there is no justice for a "commoner" and that is common
knowledge! "Beautiful people" get away with openly abusing "commoners" on a
daily basis and it's doubtful that even if they were to kill one of us,
anything would come of it! This is why many do nothing and our plight keeps
worsening. As I sit here typing away in my small apartment in our little poor
neighborhood, I look back on my day of being humiliated and seeing my fellow
"commoners" being humiliated all day. I can't help but wonder how my life as
well as my children's would have been had I not been a little man from the
wrong side of the tracks ...
